  1. Dingo, it looks to me as if you're trying too hard to be avant garde in your views, and it all just sounds a little bit contrived.
  2. Good luck to everyone who applies.

Planking is just braindead. This, on the other hand, looks fun. I'd say go for it. I'm certainly going to, though cba to film it.
  4. The culture is not a problem per se. It's the narrow world view of a great many, and their inability to comprehend the alien that lead to misunderstanding and conflict. The issue is the people, not the general culture.
  5. Of course this won't be the end of Muroch's empire. It may threaten his family's nepotistic hegemony of News Corp (or maybe James will fall only to be replaced with another Murdoch child), but rest assured this is by no means a big blow to him financially. The newspapers are a negligible part of his business. To be honest, I don't mind Muroch in the UK; though The Sun is absolute trash, I suspect that its profits help Murdoch keep The Times, which I imagine doesn't generate too much profit, as it is without having to close it or make it too 'commercial'. And The Times is by far the best paper in this country.
  6. Unfortunately, it's not as profitable. As long as crime pays, it will continue. Even if it didn't pay, some people would continue to do so anyway just to screw people over.
  7. Monitor your son's account security more closely in future, make sure it's tightly protected. It won't happen again that way unless he blabs, in which case, there's little you can do. Sorry about your son's acc. I know the feeling; it's pretty lame.
  8. Steviej, in my article I am not - as previously stated on this thread - passing any particular judgements on whether or not free trade & PVP wildy were good or bad or whatever. Feedback in this respect does not really relate to the article as I see it. These "ridiculous claims" are, I think, largely existent only in your head. I see nothing ridiculous in pointing out that time is irrelevent to the matter. It doesn't matter how long Jagex spend finding a solution to bots, they're never going to find one that's anything more than temporary. This is what people needed to realise at the time, but all realise now, eight months too late.
  9. Hah, i'm the same. Me and my girlfriend fight about this a lot. She always complains that i'm short in my texts but she doesn't understand that i really despise the whole concept. And how the heck does one reply to a "lol" or a "hahaha"? Texting is a mystery to me. Another thing that irritates me is those massive sunglasses that some women wear - the ones that go right down onto their cheeks. In some cases, it just covers their face and makes them look like a nose and a mouth. Very ugly and somehow extremely irritating.
  10. 1. Use the enter button. The wall of text is hard on the eyes 2. as a player who just started this may on their first account you shouldn't be taking on a lecturing tone. I agree that the author was harsh- but I also feel like the harshness was necessary. I can understand a criticism of his tone- not everyone will see things the same way that I do, but I also feel like you have to have an idea what you're talking about before you give that criticism. You haven't been around since 07 and don't know what the game was like with trade limits or what the wilderness and trade was like before the grand exchange etc. I feel like you have to have a good grasp on the topic of the article before you give criticism on how it is presented. 3. You're right. you don't insult those who have a different opinion than you. You pretend like you're they're mother. 4. the people the author is talking about have NO idea what they want or the consequences of their actions. Jagex is bombarded with criticism from 12 year olds and then has to try to figure out a solution to their problems while at the same time considering the consequences. If the player base knew what they wanted and were able to vocalize this in a manner that made sense I feel like Jagex would be more responsive. I feel like jagex is doing a good job working with what they're given. 12 year olds. Exactly, Mini Spawn. You're right on the money. phimugirl: the article was harsh - tonally and content-wise - because the damage caused by people's misguided expectations, memories and idealism have a lot of influence over Jagex and as such yields a degree of influence over Jagex's actions. I think to call the article insulting would be to take it a little too personally. Similarly, if you read the article, I am not directly bemoaning the reintroduction of free trade and PVP wildy, but rather the player attitudes and culture that facilitated its return, regardless of whether or not the features are good ones.

This would explain why many of the people who've stuck with playing regular contact sports since school are as thick as [faecal matter].

Uncharted is the only franchise that's ever made me regret siding with the 360 over the PS3. I'm so jealous of you guys.
  13. It seems noobs are ever more incapable of just figuring the game out on their own. I suppose it's inevitable with all the 12 year old that have always been a part of the RS userbase, but I've only started to take note in the last two or three years.
  14. True. The same thing happened to a friend of mine. Sorry to hear about it.
  15. <_< Both accusations are wrong. I have a very good long term memory, and was lucky enough to experience tangle vine twice and to be involved in forum discussions about it on rants in the RSOF, some five years ago or more. The NPC was a very common suggestion; it was the only notable one to making tangle vine fairer. I signed a petition to do this at the time. Intelligent criticisms are welcome. You seem to have become offended by the question. I am only curious; I am not accusing you of copying from the Wiki! It could have been a coincidence, or someone decided to add your Times article's part to complement the Wiki article. However, the wording there has been altered, it is now alot different from your article's, when just a few hours ago it was almost the same. Did you not like the Wiki's similarity and edited it? Surpisingly, I haven't been editing RS wiki. I do not care if there are any similarities between my article and RS wiki, and I do not have the time or wish to be fiddling around with a website I've used about three times in my life. <_< If it has indeed been edited - though I defy you to prove it - it's probably either coincidence or the work of a reader who is as underwhelmed by your feedback as I am. I suggest you go back to your 9/11 conspiracy theories rather than posting random accusations on this thread.
  16. I'd never notice if this happened to me, because everything on RS lags for me. Part of the reason I play very little these days.

I've never been a fan of the Wii. I doubt the Wii U will ever make its way into my home. Still, I admire Nintendo's innovative approach and wish them all the same success with this next console.

If you don't get a Chav joke, then you must be a Chav...
  19. I've only ever read that one about the old man and the sea. Personally, I really didn't like it. On the back of that, I'd advise you to not to read Hemingway. But you never know, his other books might all be far better.

Maybe I'm just being dense.....but.....explain? British humour, my friends. It's a satirical take on British 'Chav' culture.

Just saw the funniest poster/canvas ever in the pub. The landlord tells me he made it himself; it's feasible but he lies about most things, so I'm not sure. Anyway, the item in question is a small canvas, no more than 30x30cm, with a union jack in yellow, red & green painted on it quite messily, and some words cut out of a newspaper stuck on top to make the sentence: "By the time I was eight, I had a knife as long as my arm and could cut like a [female dog]".
  23. Sorry to break with the fantasy trend, but my favourite book is definitely 'Narrow Road to the Deep North' by Matsuo Basho. I don't really have a favourite book when it comes to fiction.

Once you get past the whole aimed-for-little-girls thing it's actually the most well structured tv show as far as character depth goes. The wiki synopsis for MLP: Friendship is Magic (the one I assume you watch) is as follows: #-o I cannot see how this could ever be better structured or have greater character depth than, say, CSI (even though it's a load of cliché nonsense) or Boardwalk Empire. The fact that every episode has the same ending shows a very poor structure, surely.
