Useless conspiracy theories never get anyone anywhere. This is not the place for ranting against society. The Saudis would probably execute you for doing so - count yourself lucky.

The job of the teacher is to introduce pupils to the idea of an analytical mindset, to show them the techniques and approach needed to analyse poetry, and give examples that are right because they are an individual interpretation, but they are not meant to exclude other viewpoints. You don't usually have to go with it, just most people do because it's easier. Anyway, even in poetry, there are wrong interpretations. Take this poem, for example: "By blood, we are immersed in love of you. The youth lose their heads for your sake. I come to you and my heart finds rest. Away from you, grief clings to my heart like a snake. I forget the throne of Delhi when I remember the mountain tops of my Afghan land. If I must choose between the world and you, I shall not hesitate to claim your barren deserts as my own" This was written in the 18th century by an Afghan monarch. If Bill O'Reilly were analysing this poem, he'd probably say something about how it shows liberal hatred for America and that Barack Obama and his army of illegal immigrants are trying to enslave the true American people (the whites, in his mind). This would be totally wrong. Interpretations of poetry can certainly be wrong. My example was a bit extreme and not quite serious, but the point still stands.
  3. Combat in RS is just clicking on stuff. As such, martial arts would be possible, but really just as monotonous and identical to train as all combat skills.

These people rioting are thuggish, moronic and disgusting. Those who are tying to make a political thing out of it are wasting their time; it's like trying to look for unicorns in a bomb shelter (not gonna happen). These cretins are not protesting, they are looting, burning and attacking civilians. Firemen trying to save civilians from a burning building have been attacked. These people have no principles, no remorse. They don't care who they harm so long as they're satiating their lust for anarchy and their selfish desire for possessions and chaos. If they were angry at unemployment, they'd stop burning down and looting small businesses. If they were angry at their socio-economic position, they wouldn't be engaging in criminality - I've not heard of many people able to support their family and improve their lot from prison. These animals are the worst of society, not because of their societal status, but because of how they conduct themselves. Cameron's being far, far too soft. A strong Prime Minister would have no regrets in bringing out the tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannons needed to deter these halfwits from their criminal behaviour. I wish I could say there was a reason, let alone excuse, for their actions. But there isn't one, and as such, they must be punished severely.
  5. But statistically it is more likely that they are, because gaming is a sedentary hobby, and non-gamers tend to have more active hobbies. When I wrote the post at the top of this page, there was nobody who had admitted to being overweight. In a largely US/Euro-centric community of gamers, that was highly improbable.
  6. In response to "My Trip to Jagex": -"It was then back into the main development office where Vicki showed us how the quality assurance department operates" - This is erroneous. Jagex does not have a quality assurance department.
  7. The list is, on the whole, accurate, though I'd say that Durial is better known than 8th - for those of us who were playing that day (though I remember distinctly that I was in my POH, building my house and totally oblivious) and almost everyone since, the Falador Massacre is more famous than Gert, who was just known for being on the hiscores for a bit. Zezima is undoubtedly number 1, fully agree with that.
  8. Flawed logic. People who have the urge to make guides will do so anyway. pulli23's message is that they should actually do so in a way that helps more people, which is through text and images for many, myself included. Full support for the idea. I don't see how his logic is less flawed than yours. What about visual learners? I'm a visual learner and video guides are best for me. There is a huge amount of visual learners and a huge amount of people who learn by reading, so saying text is "helping more people" isn't true. Being a visual learner doesn't mean that a video guide will be better. He provided multiple reasons why text/image guides are superior for conveying information and he's right. Pretty much. That and the fact that most people, on this thread and those I've spoken to in game, prefer text or text and image guides.
  9. Equally, I've got "4 unread" messages, but my Message Centre inbox thing is empty, leading me to believe that they delete themselves after a while or something. Quite a pointless and overly complicated system. Typical Jagex.
  10. ^ Clothes are not a commodity. Fashionable ones most certainly are.
  11. What is that? I hear it all the time and I keep thinking it's a derogatory term for British people. It's a British slang acronym - stands for 'Council Homes and Violence' - referring to lower or working class British people who generally dress in tracksuits, smoke, have few prospects in life, and might engage in crime or general yobbish behaviour in public. It is derogatory.
  12. Wait, what? English? American English? You have to admit that the language is pretty [bleep]ed up regardless of the region. ADMIT NOTHING ADMIT NOTHING TO THE XENOPHOBES AND LINGUISTI-PHILES OF THE WORLD. ADMIT NOTHING OF THE EUROPEAN SENSICAL LANGUAGES THAT RULE THEIR MOCK LIVES. WE MUST FIGHT ALL THAT CHANGES OUR LANGUAGE AND COLLOQUIALISMS OF NONSEQUITAR CATCH PHRASES@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ viva li revolution This post annoys the hell out of me, like all spam.
  13. English phoenetics are broken; the language is a hybrid of Germanic languages and French that has the most absued phoenetic rules of any language I've come across. The spellings of words such as "centre" is down to Francophone influence. Though "center" is more correct, the Americanised changes were thought up largely by one guy (the name evades me), who changed them for pretty pretentious reasons. "Colour" is a superior and more sensible spelling than "colour".
  14. I'm finding it very hard to believe that a RuneScape fansite seems to have nobody who is overweight on it, from the posts I've read.
  15. True. It's just most reporters that aspire to be Pmods.

  17. Thanks to everyone (almost) who took the time to read the Times and comment this week. The comments are much appreciated. justjuice, your input here in its current form is not welcome; you are not contributing to the any of the debates at hand, you fail to back up your points, and the way you post is spammy. Further posts in this vein will result in you being referred to a Mod.
  18. I'd probably say myself, followed by Range This and Hamtaro.
  19. ^ Right-on. Dungeoneering is an atrocity of a skill. Archaeology must be the skill of 2012.
  20. I can see that this article was taken from the Daily Mail. Seems like they now endorse childhood obscenity as well as racism.
  21. Priceless racial stereotypes right there.

^ Agreed, though I might have to import it.

    Are you bipolar?
  24. Might I ask exactly what your menu consists of?
