  1. Thanks for the feedback, Kimberley. Clearly my attempt to structure the article, in order to achieve clarity, did not work. Out of interest, could you elaborate on how I could make it more of a critique?
  2. I wonder how much of an outcome Jiblix actually had on the result.
  3. I didn't see it, but the scoreline seems to indicate a narrow victory - those are always the most tense matches. Well done NZ.
  4. ^ Point of information: Israel invaded Lebanon and occupied it for some 18 years. It's not exactly 'giving land back'. And Hezbollah do not run Lebanon, the land was given to the Lebanese government. As for Gaza, it was given to the Palestinian Authority (ie, not terrorists) in the Oslo Accords of 1993 and later taken over by Hamas in 2007. So neither of these lands were 'given' to terrorists.
  5. ^ Yes, Libya's new flag is already in place. Following the events of recent days, I have much respect for prime minister Mahmoud Jibril, whom I knew little about prior to these events.
  6. I am very glad Jagex lost this (though my votes for Bejeweled 3 were wasted :P)
  7. Correction: building settlements to the extent the Israelis are is illegal.
  8. Though it may well change nothing in reality, if Jagex were to lose this award (which they won, I believe, in 2009 and 10), it would be a reflection of the RS Zeitgeist at least, and it would be pessimism not to hope for some form of change in the event Jagex fail to get a third Joystick.
  9. The only thing anyone has proven in these last few pages is the problem of the dialectic. And no, I'm not going to spend an hour compiling evidence to back up that statement.
  10. The proper thing to do would indeed have been a trial. Anyone who actually saw the videos of him can see that this was a barbaric act, and gives me little faith for the future of Libya if it is to be run by such people.
  11. You should probably have posted this in the links/videos thread. It doesn't really warrant a full discussion.
  12. Reason: as already mentioned, a liberalisation of societal values and whatnot, allowing both genders greater freedom of dress. As such, the dress and skirt has been increasingly phased out in favour of jeans and, increasingly, hotpants. Frankly, I do not like either; they aren't flattering on most femmes, especially hotpants, which more often than not just flaunt cellulite. As a means of attraction, they backfire horrendously.
  13. "Mankind is growing out of religion as out of its childhood clothes." - Schopenhauer "Religion has run out of justifications." - Hitchens --- "In your hands or the hands of any other person, so much power would no doubt be dangerous. I am the only man in the world whom it would be safe to trust with it. Remember, I am a prophet!" - Joseph Smith "What is the damnation of hell? To go with that society who have not obeyed His [the Lord's] commands." - Smith again --- These make for interesting comparisons.
  14. Frankly, I think that a prisoner swap of any kind is a sign of progress in the region, and especially (given the concessions Israel made) a sign that Israel is becoming more humble. Given its increasing isolation, it is going to need to be so to survive the geopolitical maelstrom that is the Middle East. On a more personal level, I am glad that all those involved - Shalit and the Palestinians - are free.
  15. This is why cleats are far better for cycling; when I got hit by a car back in 2009/10, I was able to stop myself from being injured because unclipping a cleat is so quick/easy compared to a pedal strap, in spite of the fact I was going at 30 mph.
  16. "But when Zarathustra was alone, he spoke thus to his heart: 'Could it be possible! This old saint has not yet heard in his forest that God is dead!'" I take issue with religion because: a) It can never be true in an epistemological sense; b) It is often treated as fact irrespective of this, especially in the USA; c) It is an absurd superstition that was devised to control people via fear and a fictional amor fati, an escapist fantasy, all a promise that can never be kept (I refer, of course, to the afterlife). It is slavery.

I'm making a black pudding omelette.
  18. Fecundate, as in "I'm going to fecundate that unwitting lady of the night".

Still no one has answered this (as far as I can tell). And if he did get banned, why?
  20. I'm not even sure this is true.

Bike or swim instead. Walking/running/jogging hurts the knees. no bike and it's too cold to swim. Plus I have weak lungs so swimming is out of the question for exercise. I was planning to try out the weights but the area was choc full of about 10 high school kids +3 others. and I'd rather not waltz in, confused as [bleep] and look stupid. Not in front of a large group like that anyway. Maybe I'll sneak out @ 12am and go. If you've got weak lungs, surely swimming is better than running (if the temperature were appropriate, that is).

You need to tell those sort of people to piss off. Tolerating them always gives the wrong impression.
