  1. Thanks for all the helpful responses, all.
  2. A swear word is really no different to any other. It's just the social taboo that surrounds it that designates it as 'offensive', 'vulgar' or whatever. Should it be? Surely it's the context that makes things offensive, not the words themselves. Please expand, I don't follow.
  3. This may well have been mentioned before (or even if this is the appopriate forum), but I was writing a long post today and, because my internet connection cut out just as I'd pressed post, the whole thing was lost and I've yet to bring myself to rewrite it. To prevent this from happening in future, would it be at all possible for there to be a feature, such as that which Blogger uses when one is writing a post, of it automatically saving posts every 30 seconds or so. Under such a system I might have been able to find my post there, unpublished, on the thread once I'd reconnected my bipolar internet. Is such a system at all possible? And is this complaint common enough to warrant it? Thank you.
  4. This may sound silly, but how does this warnings system work exactly?
  5. Writing a long post and then losing internet connection when I click 'post'. :x Could we perhaps get some sort of system that saves posts as you write them, like Blogger has?
  6. Of course this won't fix the issue, but it at least buys the Eurozone, and wider European economy, time in which to enact the sorts of measures that can fix the issue. I'm relying on the assumption that Eurozone leaders will continue resisting their seemingly innate desire to avoid the issue, which they managed to do quite well lately. As for the US: if it's good for America, it's good for the world. (Economically speaking).
  7. I agree, but I've come to reconcile myself with the fact that it's a quixotic fantasy.

  9. Very valid points made by Will there. The UK knew it had to get involved because of our reliance upon Europe as one of the main markets for our exports, the shock-waves of a Greek default on the mainly European banks holding Greek debt would furthert damage our export prospects, and then there are contagion considerations. Politically, I hope this is the beginning of a proper political and fiscal union for the euro because, as Will quite rightly pointed out, scrapping it would be a disaster, and yet it's been unanimously agreed for months that something needs to be done. Even now, though, Merkel seems to be stalling (as she has taken to doing this year, for some reason) and Sarkozy, who is almost certainly going to lose the election next year as far as I can see, is being cautious given his incredibly low popularity.
  10. I cannot bear the nouveau ultra-liberal pseudo-intelligentsia, along the lines of people such as Caitlin Moran, who has perfected the art of writing books and articles that have absolutely no meaning whatsoever.
  11. I refuse to buy sweets for noisy infants I've never met. Can't see the point.
  12. The silliness is your assumption that I am trying to prove something by writing in a way that I enjoy. As for what the audience wants: I wouldn't be on the EP if I had to write what they want to see, because it's often not what I want to write about. I retain that you, as a forum member with no other position, are in no position to evaluate what the EP should publish. The audience's tastes are too broad to be able to satisfy everybody, and I am afraid more seem to have enjoyed the article judging from feedback. The fact you didn't like the writing stye means nothing to what the EP will or will not publish.
  13. I write articles on topics that interest me in a way I would want to read them. You are more than welcome to express an open dislike for them - you wouldn't be the first - but to combine it with silly assumptions is not a reasonable piece of feedback. The only thing I ever seek to 'prove' is whatever view I am trying to express. Secondly, you are in no position to say what should/shouldn't have "got past" the editorial panel, especially seeing as you seem to object to it only on the basis of not liking it. Perhaps you'd care to apply if you'd like to have a say on EP policy?
  14. What a classic response.
  15. I really wonder if they're going to set it in the USA at all - it's a subject matter they've sort of beaten to death over the past decade.
  16. :D Duff's a pretty extreme example, seeing as he makes on average 14.8 posts per day.
  17. 360 all the way (though I hasten to add I don't really play games much; I've never used a PS3 and I've only played on a friend's Wii a handful of times).
  18. Do I sense bitterness?
  19. I think it's time we petitioned Jagex, perhaps through an open-letter? Outsanity has disappeared, and we can't let this idea fall into obscurity. It's just too good.

Adding to what obfuscator said, I personally hate the gym and instead run about 6 miles on Mons & Weds, then 3 miles on Fridays, and cycle 55-80 miles on Sundays. These are all far more fun ways of exercising, thus motivation is a lot easier.
  21. This song (which I heard on holiday as a child and have finally rediscovered) is the most terrible but entertaining piece of music I've ever heard. The terrible video is equally hilarious.
  22. That isn't relevant to the point Israel and I were discussing, however.
  23. It was handed over properly in 2005, but the Israelis agreed to in 1993 at Oslo. If you don't want me to twist your words, Israel63, try expressing yourself clearly.
  24. I refer all to my theory of what motivates top players: http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=681
