Runescape 3 is coming this summer...(BTS Bonus edition)
No its not. How are bots considered an online player if the player is not playing because an automated robot is doing his tasks? How does a robot count as a real player? The issue here is we cannot accurately say who is and is not a bot. Plus, as previously mentioned bots in main game have DROPPED recently whilst bots in 07scape have INCREASED - therefore if you do want to exclude bots in rough rounding it'd push 07scape further away from main game. Plus I'd argue even bots show popularity to an extent: If the game is popular then lazy folks will bot to be 'good' at it or buy produce from bots. Their existence marks an inherent popularity necessary for people to bother coding and using them. But this is getting wildly off-topic. This is not a debate of whose game is better, this is a thread to discuss RS3.

Also I'd point out - No such thing as trial accounts now so your rounding figures are rubbish. Plus like I said before why does it matter? An online player is an online player. Main game has more players therefore is more popular, simple as; if 07scape was more popular it'd have more players.

What is the best bow to bind in Dung now?
I have to say I've found it hard to put much weight in DGS reqs since the eoc updates. Why exactly? I was under the impression that in a given tier 2h = spear = maul in terms of overall DPS, so whilst a maul may lose out a bit due to being slower why are the other 2 uneven? Just seems kinda like legacy of old habits without really solid reasoning imo. (Though I must admit I haven't looked far into any solid data) And more importantly, to my eyes is this: So if BN > Hood in BOTH slots it would appear you are suggesting have 2 BN, which is utterly redundant. So I'd be generous and assume it really ought to be: Bind 4 Blood Necklace > Hood Bind 5 Hood Ergo you have BN and hood in ideal set. But then I was under the impression that even with eoc for BN to be utilised most you wanna be piled rendered bn + hood a bad thing so why?

Future Update Discussions
Glad as I suspected it is a 'live beta' as in its playing the live game just using the new engine. Means I can get on with life in rs and still contribute, alpha testing tear and share interfaces will be interesting. Whats the betting when they open for alpha they have most of the functionality but like 0 graphical skinning so we get hideous out of place white text box type affairs?

Future Update Discussions
From the video: Wow if cwars Lobby shot is anything to go by its a BIIIIIGGGGG change (plus hopefully it comes with the comp cape req alteration) Dg stuff seems nice, interesting to get more variety of mage and range gear in the dungeons but I kinda find myself wondering why they bothered taking the time to make the shields. Overworld shields are vaguely useful in the odd situation or two in dg they were utterly useless and eoc just compounded that.

Future Update Discussions
It's a *huge* project. By its very nature, there will probably be bugs everywhere. In any case, the majority of their efforts will be concentrated there. Then there are 2 new skills that are supposed to be coming out as well. Seems to me like they are rushing through a lot of stuff; it seems a bit too ambitious. They aren't rushing anything. They spend months-years working on these projects, well before we hear about them at all normally. Plus they have hundreds of employees and different teams for different things (content, engine, sound, graphics etc.) with dev's being specifically assigned to tasks. Don't forget we first heard rumours of RS3 and Html5 a good 2 years ago; then it was over a year ago html5 and other such things got mentioned by jmods making it more official and nearly 6 months since we had any sort of official confirmation of it happening. This isn't some overnight rush job, this has been the work of the engine team for a very long time.

They already confirmed you can change/customize the runescape layout by dragging and dropping, which isn't familiar if you've seen pictures of bots out there, heck, they were doing this back in Classic, it's not new, Jagex are just making it "official". To be fair even if the only visible difference in the beta was the graphical improvements there would still be plenty to beta test. You have to remember beta testing isn't necessarily about actively doing specific things to find bugs - in a case like this where it is an engine overhaul just generally playing the game is a beta testing as you could stumble across any number of things behaving a bit oddly. Like perhaps taking a rubber chicken near a bench makes it deform or doing the yes emote in castlewars makes you be able to walk anywhere. Also there's elements of the beta test we have nothing to do with other than being there - server load, how does it all work when it is actually exposed to thousands of players simultaneously. Something that works fine in their in-house tests and even functions under simulated high server load might not behave the same when exposed to real server load.

I'm a bit disgruntled now - I STILL don't have the darn news letter. I mean I know they mighta had to send em in batches, but even so you'd expect everyone to get it within like 6-12hours of each other.

Royals do work with chaotic and arguably for momentum slayering dual wield > 2h still I believe so dual chaotics ain't so bad. Plus since their retweak of dual vs 2h I hear good things about the balance so I'd assume royal and dual chaotic aren't too far apart for bossing now either.

Locking that I don't agree with
Just because people agree does not mean they blindly follow or indicate a hive mind. We are all individuals with our own views, just because we all happen to agree and be against you is no indicative of a 'hive mind' or blind support - it is indicative that that thread was utter BS we agree should've been locked. And we all have a clear idea of what is going on - A thread making wild baseless accusations was locked because it held no discussion, had no evidence and only served to be inflammatory. In the wake of this you have made an issue out of it due to some personal hatred of Tripsis and belief that the locking was wrong and that Tripsis worked alone. You have been informed the moderation choice was not made alone, had others agree the locking was correct and have since got defensive throwing out comments about people making serious accusations and following a mythical hive mind with, once again, nothing in the way of evidence or ground to stand on. What more exactly is there to know? I'd also point out of those who have replied here mostly are NOT ex-moderators at all. Killerred and Obfuscator were at one time, but Smelly Paws, Chenw, Angry Aussie(?) Nexaduro and myself are not.

Runescape 3 is coming this summer...(BTS Bonus edition)
Yep, and I tried for an hour last night to find a screenshot of it without success :( This image was released when RS2 was still in development. :) To be fair to the RS2 and RS3 things: 1) Neither campaign has claimed that camera would be able to zoom out like that - they are simply broad views to show the new graphics. 2) RS2 never claimed it would be adding skies. 3) Rs has had sky boxes in place for a while and whilst certainly we have not been promised worldwide skies the 'greater draw distance' and redeveloped camera coupled with their pre-existing limited use make it as least feasible that the fog could be replaced with a sky box. 4) Definitely don't get hopes up though as though feasible it certainly has not been promised (as of yet anyway)

11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
Looks like later today I got like 60% chance of clearing the Quin Trio then I guess I'll be setting totems for Chi focus (since I can't get the other trio + I can only do chi or laquer focus for duos + I'll be closest to making full seasinger)

Tribute to Guthix and New Combat Abilities
Yeah jmods have indicated in FAQs and QAs that the Mahjaratt aren't all related, they just use brother (and in theory sister) in the less literal sense like brother in arms or brother in faith. The only blood relations we have any clue on with them is Khazard's parents (both dead) and Lucien played with a human to make Moia

What updates would you like to see in EoC?
I'm primarily a skiller, dude. I'm also in a hell of a lot of pain IRL. Don't piss me off. Think about it... if they brought back Energy Transfer, or changed Adrenaline pots, or introduced a weaker versions of Adrenaline (and made untradeable Adrenaline "Extreme Adrenaline"), there might be less complaints about the Adrenaline bar, and maybe reworked Lunar in certain ways, people would start taking Lunar mages as defensive support a little more seriously than the "I just want Vengeance to be a spe-shul PKer" crap we've had in the past. Or even a few instanced versions of the Modern/Lunar hybrid spellbook from Daemonheim... I haven't really looked to see if it factors into sinkholes... I'm already antisocial enough that the idea of playing with others, period, didn't lead me to look more closely at it. My gut and usually uncanny memory says it had little to no relevance. I agree with all your points there, but I fail to see how it remotely replies to my case. I was just disagreeing with re-raising spell costs because cheaper is better and pointing out that none of the skill spells get altered because it was a combat update. Skill spells probably could do with a rehash in line with the combat spell changes and, as always, it would be good to see Lunar become more fully fledged in combat support capabilities but that requires a lot of new spells and some well designed bosses that actually NEED a support unit present.

Range & Mage Gear
Sometimes Abs can be a preferable choice to cs if you have the funds just for pure lazy/invent saving mage due to it being an air staff. But that's not a huge boon for the price tag and really for most is probably only of huuuuuugggggeeee use if you are having trouble on invent space trying to tri/hybrid or maybe for questers going in blind on release day.

Runescape 3 is coming this summer...(BTS Bonus edition)
The problem with that idea is that Runescape is 12 years old. Over the last few years Jagex has seen a steady decline in players which says to me (and probably them) that it's not so much individual updates that make players leave, but the game becoming more outdated every year. To keep up with the competition the NEED to have massive overhauls to avoid being left in 2007. I agree, small fixes are awesome, but that's not what lures in and keeps new players. Tbh I think they are on the right balance now. We have decent content updates most weeks with 1 big show piece every couple of months plus every single week in patch notes theres a good 50-100 minor tweaks and fixes. Also they don't need to go starting any more new quest lines, we have plenty of them already - what they need to do is finish off the project they started a yr or 2 ago to actually FINISH quest lines. Dwarves, Penguin, Gnomes, Elves, Desert Pantheon, Myreque, Elemental Worshop and probably more I forgot are all in need of conclusions. (Don't get me wrong they are working on many of them already, just saying they need to actually finish them before starting more new ones)

Draw distance is the distance you can see in the game client. This image shows it off pretty nicely, so with a much higher draw distance we can see wayyyy out into the distance instead of seeing a barrier of fog :P Skyrimscape. Please show me anywhere in Skyrim that looks like that. I was half-joking. It just has a similar 3d view to Skyrim. If by 'similar 3D view' you mean 'the only possible 3D view for a game world rendered in 3D with a camera attached to a player figure' I agree. I mean its no more similar to Skyrims 3D world than it is to batman Arkham, assassin's Creed etc...

Tribute to Guthix and New Combat Abilities
But given Sliske's treacherous history, that's precisely what he'd do. He'd assure the others in the Zarosian camp that he's really doing it for Zaros, only for it to be revealed that he was doing it to further his own ends. No. Sliske history may be slippery, treacherous and out for his own aims - but so are all the other Mahajaratt. And notable Sliske is fiercely loyal to Zaros, there is not one iota of evidence to suggest he'd betray Zaros or has ever done anything to harm Zaros. Also there's nothing to do with doing it for Zaros being a lie - it was made clear the Zaros camp was of split opinion - Sliske, Char and Nex wanted to kill whilst Azzandra, Ali and Anthankos wanted to talk. Azzandra being the most powerful they decided to go with that route, but Sliske has always been a loose cannon and likely to follow his own route. In this case he went along pretending he agreed until opportunity arose - however it was NOT going against Zaros to do so. Plus I'd put faith in Azzandra's assurances they have known each other for thousands of years, if he says Sliske doesn't want to be a god I'd believe him; especially since FAQS and such confirm Sliske must've struck a bargin with the Dragonkin to get the broken staff and with the dragonkin known to want to sever their link to the stone it'd make sense to hand over the staff to them and let them use its power in order to get whatever he wants from them.

Biggest pet peeve of blogs like that is the inevitable comment of "Most have, since then, grown out of the game, or simply got tired of grinding to just about level anything." NO. This is not a fact, you have made it up based on your personal experience/hearsay. Do not smear the entire game with the same brush of 'most out grow it' - I mean just look at the crew and well known names around any of the big fansites most date back a good 5+ years and the fact that there is plenty of people actively playing who can wear the 10 year vet cape. It annoys me mostly because it is kind of a back-handed insult: If RS is a game most 'grow out of' it implies to be a long term player is to not grow up eg you immature, have limited to no independence etc.

Range & Mage Gear
Armadyl/Karils Royal Cbow/dual chaotics and crystal bow. Royal bolts are good cheap but strong ammo. Sagies are good thrown, but you dont need thrown really. Ganodermic > Ahrims/Subjugation. Chaotic Staff > Armadyl Staff > Greater Runic/Polypore/SoL Spells - w/e weakness ur fighting best spell you go in that element.

Magic Help.
You cant cast without a combat mage weapon now. You gotta get the gloves or punch him to death. Though have you actually tried to get the gloves, I know they are part of Heroes but I think you might be able to go the the Ice Queen regardless of quests.
