  1. Bethesda get a bad rep for buggy games as they generally have several times as many sales as other devs (meaning several times as many reports of bugs.) The overall % of people affected by game breaking bugs is probably just as low as any other developer. I mean even if tens of thousands of people suffered from game breaking bugs from Skyrim, that would make Skyrim one of the least buggy games (or pieces of software generally) in existence when you consider how many units they sold. Obsidian are far better known for having buggy releases which affect a much larger % of people.
  2. Why is that? Do abilities not take in account the off-hand weapon's speed? In which case an off-hand Chaotic rapier or longsword would be better than off-hand Drygore mace? I am not sure why, whether it's some sort of bug or what. But lots of people have tested them, and there is a difference. The weapon speed is taken into account. An off hand other than mace is the way to go if you want to absolutely optimize your DPS. The difference is so small it's barely worth noticing. Your average crits are 30 something less damage with an offhand mace compared to rapier/ls.
  3. The main hand weapons all have the same DPS whilst using abilities. The off hand rapier and longsword are negligably better DPS than the mace (<1%). Also +9 prayer bonus is less than 5 seconds of extra pray starting at 990. In effect don't worry about it and choose whichever ones you like the look of/are cheapest.
  4. Skyrim has the ability to handle larger battles - Bethesda had to scale it back so that the game would run on consoles. My sieges and miscellaneous civil war battles have over a hundred participants ;p
  5. There are still glaring errors, bugs and other issues from the EoC release. After 8+ months... This does not inspire hope in me. RS3 is a good opportunity to bring in some new players - don't let their first experience of the game consist of random lag spikes, disconnecting from the server and minor graphical issues. I mean, with the release of Vorago yesterday so many people were streaming on Twitch that RS was one of the highest rated games, and no doubt at least a few hundred non RS players would have checked RS streams out to see why they were so popular. And all they will have seen is constant server disconnects leading and people getting angry over losing items due to no fault of their own. Jagex should have anticipated the increase in interest such an update would have brought to RS and made sure everything ran smoothly to give the best possible impression of the game.
  6. Wealth over skills has nothing to do with it. 99 in all buyables should be a priority over any significant wealth investment in gear. There should be gear which is relatively easy to obtain which players can use to be able to complete content satisfactorily. Currently this role is fulfilled by PoP gear for PVM (PoP tanks are easy to get Nex teams for, as well as being used at Vorago now) and lower GWD gear for slayer/other DPS. However there should also be gear for those willing to go above and beyond - at current pricing only the ascension crossbows are even vaguely in this class. Think spirit shields when they were worth lower hats, and Nex gear before the increase in drop rate. None of this gear should be required to participate in content (e.g. you can very easily get Nex teams without ascensions) but the content should exist for those willing to put the time in, and should offer significant enough bonuses to be desirable. The entire playerbase doesn't need to be dragged down to the level of the average player - all types of player can be catered for.
  7. Keep the mini's apart on phase 3 and also try to kill them simultaneously to avoid the 2nd one enraging.
  8. HTML5 client will still be stuck with the shitty FXAA instead of real AA. So everything is still going to have that too soft slightly blurred look with no clearly defined edges. Right now I'd pick the Java client over the HTML5 one. Really hope they get some proper anti aliasing in.
  9. Comp cape just needs to enter the boss room, although apparently you need to actually kill it or reach the final phase at least once for trim. Considering how much whining there was over the comparatively trivial fight kiln requirement, I'm sensing a lot of upcoming tears :P
  10. Summoning was the only skill with a decent reward at 99. Then Jagex did what Jagex does. Nerf something into complete uselessness rather than rebalancing it correctly. There is no point in getting any skill to 99 in EoC, even the combat ones - you can quite happily duo Nex with level 80 stats (that's with my rather shoddy Nex skills - people actually good at it could do it with far lower I'm sure). The only reason to get 99 in a skill to me is to complete the 'unlockable' phase of skilling. I enjoy skilling so it wasn't an issue for me anyway. I train every skill for at least a million or two xp every few months, so maxing was inevitable.
  11. Vorago was always going to be a high profit boss just from the t90 weapons. I hope they don't make the armour hybrid or a Nex/PoP upgrade. Hopefully he just means the armour will have a drop rate more typical of older bosses combined with it being so hard to kill meaning Nex/PoP armour will still be the only 'practical' armours to use for 99.9% of the RS population.
  12. You don't get xp from killing other players now. If you did, everyone could have got their afk alts that 99.948% of trimmers will now be using for 2 tickets/game to bunch up and chin them. Since ranged xp is quite valuable now as cannon and titan are currently only marginally better than a steaming pile of shit.
  13. Yeah the 50k hit is probably a gateway test, due to the easily accessible location, to stop complete low levels from going in and instantly dying :P
  14. All of the above are taken into account.
  15. Quite simply if I want to use a term that you would find offensive in private chat with a friend, that has a grand sum of nil to do with you. I find the fact that some people presume they can control the language I use more than a little arrogant. The word 'f' that some people use to describe homosexual males is also a word for cigarettes, at least in the UK. If my friend says to me to wait a few minutes before starting the next floor because he's going for a [bleep], should he be muted? Obviously not, it's ludicrous. Since Jagex can't determine the context the word was used in, they should just leave well alone.
  16. Pulli have you ever actually hunted draconics. In almost all cases there is at least one trap that has a jadinko in it, meaning being able to lay a trap instantly does significantly speed your xp/hr up. You are hardly ever standing around waiting.
  17. They did definitely post that, I read it too. The point with druidic being that although it isn't technically discontinued, it is rare enough to require the same treatment.
  18. Hi all, We wanted to let you know as soon as we had a date and location organised for RuneFest 2013. So here it is! When is it? 2nd of November 2013 Where is it? South-East England in the United Kingdom (Most likely London) More information will follow in the following weeks regarding the ticket price, venue and the activities at the event. We're planning some extra-special surprises, but want to work with you on what those things will be. On top of that, we’re thinking of new, exciting ways for the whole community to be involved with RuneFest 2013. Look out for more event news soon! We’re all really looking forward to seeing you all and meeting some new faces. Dust off that Nomad outfit and re-stitch that skill cape. RuneFest is back - better than ever! Mod Mark and Mod Jane ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Glad to see it's in England, I will probably go :D
  19. Use of environmental effects - e.g. since this is set in a cave, falling rocks that kind of thing that the player has to move out of the way of. Use of defensive abilities - have the boss have something like reflect, to make players think more carefully about when they use abilities. (Nex and KK do this a bit, but having the damage reflected would make it more important) Attacks that do more damage to people wearing gear of a certain class. Locational damage - think the QBD super hot breath attack. But you could have a bit of a twist so that whilst this attack is active, if the player stands closer to the source of the damage, the player damage is also increased, meaning the player has to balance damage taken vs damage dealt. A higher emphasis on DPS in aggro calculations (if one player can tank whilst the rest of the team just goes max DPS on the boss, it makes things unnecessarily easy.) Minions/Adds that aren't completely trivial to deal with or completely ignorable. Perhaps have killing the minions be optional, but relate the boss's damage somehow to the number of minions (with a cap to) so that killing the minions will make the kill easier, but slower. E.g. if all minions are dead the boss deals 75% damage for the rest of the fight. If the boss is magic based, have it be more susceptible to normal/ancient spells in different phases so your team requires players on both spellbooks. Just off the top of my head :P
  20. I would like to see a boss fight made difficult through use of actual mechanics, rather than an arbitrary amount of HP/damage or cheap tactics like constant stuns and 1 hit insta deaths no matter how much defence/lp you have. Also it would be nice for shields to basically be a necessity for this boss. As in you need to use shield abilities regularly to make it through a kill, not just a quick switch every now and then. Chris L also posted on the HLF that the drop mechanics will have a bit of a twist that would favour FFA teams.
  21. The 2nd warband nerf had no impact on how warbands are done. All that changed is that things move much more quickly now (all 3 camps done in 10-15 minutes). You can still do 3 or even 4 worlds in a row in each wave.
  22. DW I sold mine when top was ~1.5b and robe bottoms just over max cash. Was a nice little flip at the time :(
