  1. Yes but all you do is wear the armour that gives you 900 def vs the style the creature attacks with, if defence matters. Else you wear power armour and soulsplit. Either way, hybrid armour comes up as significantly sub par.
  2. You would be missing the entire point of hybrid armor though, although the -15 penalty is harsh (Since power armor only gets -5 on defence and -10 on lp). Hybrid lets you switch weapons with no penalty, and also doesn't give you any weaknesses for monsters to exploit, which is good in scenarios like DKs, the problem is that, these scenarios aren't that common in RuneScape Yeah I know it does that, but seeing as there is literally no where in RS worth going to where those abilities are even vaguely useful, they might as well not exist. Leaving you with a horrible class of armour.
  3. It's more the fact that by classing something as hybrid you make it dead content immediately. It has no damage boost, and due to the -15 level penalty, even tier 99 hybrid sets will be worse than superior PoP gear in terms of LP and armour.
  4. None of the recent false bans were due to AHK. Not sure if your post was just about AHK in general, but just saying :P
  5. Lyra is unbanned now. Apparently Pieter and a few other high xp players were also banned wrongly at the same time. I'd be careful at activities like Artisan's workshop or Dwarf traders atm, because there's something really wrong with Botwatch (or whatever system is doing the false bans.)
  6. Do you have a dynamic IP? When I switched ISP to one where I had a dynamic IP, I noticed I periodically had to re input my JAG information every couple of weeks for a few months, then it stopped. I assume it sort of 'locks in' your MAC address after a while.
  7. What we now think of as the dungeoneering skill is unintended. Even in the first few days after release people were completing floors far faster than Jagex intended, and they actually banned several players thinking they must be bug abusing to be gaining dg xp that quickly. Then consider that we gain dg xp several times faster today than those first players did, and you get an idea of just how different dg is (and how much faster it is) than Jagex intended. But sometimes you've just got to let emergent gameplay take its course. Now a JMod ought to be able to look at the hunter method and think, OK, that is a reasonable increase in xp/hr for the extra effort the player puts in. And look at the fishing method and say that the extra xp is disproportionate to the extra effort. But then, our JMod in charge of game balance's resume goes a little something like "Hi, I'M Mod TImbo, you might remember me from such nerfs as: The Dagganoth Debacle, The Chinning Catastrophe, The Effigy Emergency, The Barrage Blow and The Icefiend Incident." So I have little hope for a reasonable, balanced nerf, and more expect the method to be nuked into oblivion.
  8. Afrobros is a good clan for skiller types. You should join #badboy on swift, quite a few AB's in there.
  9. Aside from the 200k xp or so to use up the Gofannan amulet, haven't mined a single rock since 99. Warbands not OP at all nope.
  10. Allar (Skiller/Aasiwat) is now 2495 total and should be 2496 reasonably soon if he continues, which would put him at around rank 19/20. It says a lot that despite his inactivity for so long, as well as the huge increases in xp rates since he quit, only 18 players have managed to beat him. It's not like he had a bloated total xp either, a lot of his xp is in slower skills.
  11. Is anyone else extremely disappointed in the actual gameplay of the world event? From the way they described it, I didn't think it was just racing to tag trash monsters and skilling for negligible amounts of xp...
  12. Do you mean how to drag it to make it bigger? In which case just unlock your interface and drag it to the size you want. Not sure if you can actually zoom in/out.
  13. Oh I have to say, I love the minimap during dg. It could do with a little refining, but you never need to click open map again.
  14. It would be useful for skills like thieving after Ibis or fletching, where you just tap the same bit of screen over and over again. Or for afking cwars during lectures for 'free' trim.
  15. It's a shame potion fishing was as fast as it was, which will probably get the whole method nerfed, because potion hunting was an appropriate increase in xp/hr for the increase in APM. (And we need more of that sort of thing)
  16. If they were concerned purely with increasing the monetization of their product, they would make the entire game F2P then go really hard on the microtransaction side of things, as that model has proven time and time again to be the most profitable for an MMO with as small a subscriber base as Runescape has these days. Obviously this would completely remove any enjoyment I and many other players would derive from the game, but high level management that doesn't really understand the way the game works might not understand that.
  17. There is severe over moderation of the 200M all skills thread. One interesting thing about that thread is it has always attracted top players to come and post - unlike every other thread on these boards, but when you delete people's posts you simply piss them off and make them disinclined to post again - which is a shame as they are some of the few individuals who've actually put the thousands of hours in and can tell you whether, for example, certain training methods are viable all the way to 200M or if they are mostly theoretical. There is also a complete lack of consistency in moderation of that thread - my friend had his posts deleted for discussing a topic, then someone else brought the topic up and they had their posts left alone, and when he called the moderator out on it they simply deleted his posts again and issued him with a warning. There is plenty left to discuss in the scope of that thread, if you'd just let us...
  18. More to the point, microtransactions are a feature in virtually every MMO game out there now, and even many single-player games, often in a far worse way than Scape does. It makes the user sound like the only game they've ever played is RS. To the contrary, MTX done well is great. I paid £8 for ten+ hours of content for each of the main FO:NV dlcs. That's great value for money, and Bethesda followed a MTX model that worked for their game. That's opposed to the weekly helping of bullshit Jagex serves us through SGS and SoF.
  19. Why not? I understand Jagex has changed their definition of it so that buying items which give xp, gp, bank space and exclusive outfits doesn't 'officially' fall under RWT, but I'd hope any player could see that it is RWT in terms of the 'spirit of the game.' Because Real-World Trading is the term used for when third-parties are making a profit off Jagex's intellectual property (coins and/or items), which is illegal. Microtransactions is when the company itself is making a profit off their own intellectual property, which is fine. Did you read my post? I was referring to RWT as the rule that existed before SoF, SGS etc. which is still the rule I follow(ed). RWT is buying any in game advantage - whether from a 3rd party entity or from Jagex. What Jagex changes the rule to is irrelevant really.
  20. I think there is quite a large Zaros following amongst the playerbase, and many of those players would pick the opposite side to Zamorak by default, which may explain some of the imbalance.
  21. Although I disagree about the comments stating that combat is balanced at the highest level again - actually the combat triangle is fundamentally unbalanced due to melee having an ultimate ability vastly superior to anything ranged or magic has - berserk - as well as melee having a wider selection of powerful thresholds than either of the other classes, and ranged having by far the weakest thresholds. Nothing has changed really. Slayer is now identical in terms of class set up to pre eoc - you mage a few specific tasks (ice strykes, polypore creatures) and melee the rest (focussing on getting berserk off as often as possible.) Yes you can range or mage any task now, but melee is still the significantly superior choice.
  22. Why not? I understand Jagex has changed their definition of it so that buying items which give xp, gp, bank space and exclusive outfits doesn't 'officially' fall under RWT, but I'd hope any player could see that it is RWT in terms of the 'spirit of the game.'
