  1. Ah fair enough when you said state of the art I though you meant a brand new windows 8 pc that cost like £800-£1000, my mistake.
  2. The bestiary makes the page crash and fail to load on my nexus s. I can run bestiary fine on my 2 year old windows 7 laptop, and my 3 year old windows vista desktop pc (both were average specs when I got them paid no more than £500 for both). Don't know why some people are struggling to run it on newer computers. Never tried the bestiary on my HTC wildfire S but highly doubt it has the internal memory to cope anyway. Had dynamic shadows on both times too and used google chrome.
  3. According to rs wiki, grimy herbs came out with herblore update on 10th september
  4. Apparently, you did. Why not go the 1 def 60atk hybrid route. robes are cheap and disposable and I can see rune will be VERY expensive for a long time... Also, on an unrelated note, were unids turned into grimy herbs at that point? 45 def would be viable seeing as all the armours you'd need would be in stock at shops unlike dragon/barrows armour and probably 60 att for dragon until slayer weapons such as g maul/whip become commonplace. sure herbs were still unids in august 07, can't be 100% though
  5. Then what would be the point? What would be the point in releasing a game in which you log in, turn on your bot, go to work, and come back with a bank full of logs? They're bringing back the game. Not the botting that came with it. Sure dozens of bald men in green clothes chopping yews was in the 07 version of the game. It was a necessary evil. Can you really say you LIKED bots? I can't. Everyone knew there were bots. They knew they were bad, and they knew that sometime they had to go. For me, I'm looking forward to the fun times of killing rats with my friends and playing on the weekends the game I played during highschool. I'm not looking forward to any bloody bots, or any people who are like EFFICIENCY! I want to play a game that is fun. Period.; I don't find the new game to be fun. I find it to be a corny evolution of something I liked. Just by bringing back the game they are paving the way for bots to return, simply put the bots will return to 07 servers because there will be a demand for them to 'help' players get a headstart over the competition. That is why I ultimately agreed that the servers should have anti-botware updates, even though it's not in keeping with the whole point of the servers being an exact copy of august 07. The way you replied seems to me that your in the opinion there are no bots, just because they aren't bald men in green clothes doesn't mean bots have gone. And in reference to your question no I don't like bots, they are a scourge on the landscape of runescape.
  6. Any sort of updates post anti-bot software would completely defy the point of making these servers. In truth I don't think honestly old servers should even get improved anti-bot software, to be in keeping with the nostalgia bubble of august 07, but with how advanced bots are now it would be required to make these legacy servers even playable. In short nothing else past 10th august 07 shouldn't even be considered as a possibility of an update. The community will be fractured enough without fracturing this new community into say pre & post GWD or GE.
  7. You handle it by telling them to shut up. If it's more than a minority they can call a yes/no poll. As for updates, there probably would be a few that benefit the game such as that log out timer, which from what people are saying, will log you out after 1.5 mins. I hope they increase it to 5 mins. According to your logic this 2007 server newspost should have been simply a statement from Jagex saying shut up then right? Well this is a great opportunity for Jagex to make lots of money, and since that's what drives their decisions these days, no, they made the right choice for the future of Jagex and their money. And it will likely benefit the main RuneScape game, so it's win-win all around. It may be a minority, but 150,000 is a LOT of people to not please who are willing to give you their money for a viably cheap option. Ah well I got that off a thread somewhere, It's been too long for me to remember. But still, I look like to see that increased! :) But at 150k players the cost is $15 a month, that many people have already stated they're unwilling to pay long term, so they aren't willing to give Jagex there money now are they? well at least not long term enough for Jagex to see any profits after initial set up + monthly wages.

  9. The problem is players are so fickle and opinionated, that if Jagex left runescape's advancement up to what players wanted this game wouldn't have made it to 2007, and be long gone by now. I canb't see the playerbase wearing out the existing content for years easily, seeing how long it would take to max out skills such as slayer.
  10. I somewhat expect Jagex to come out with an announcement like that this week. Very few people will be willing to pay over $20 a month to access a game from 2007. First, to PoorLepRecon's point, why wouldn't you want to pony up the cash? When you voted in the poll, you knew going into it that, if the numbers couldn't be reached, then you'd have 2007scape but at a high premium. It's like saying you want the nostalgia filter, but don't want to pay the costs of bringing it back - one who thinks like that can't have their cake and eat it too. Next, to ItsASpork's point, why would Jagex reverse their stance on this? They knew what they were saying when the poll came out, and my gut feeling says that they wanted to see just how vocal this group of players - that claimed that they'd want 2007scape - were, just to see if the numbers they were quoting off could really materialize. Just because it's slowing down/isn't projected to reach whatever mark doesn't mean one can start looking for outs. Even if the number misses the [self] desired mark by 1 person before 1 March, Jagex should stick by their plan and execute - whether this means an additional $5 on members, or $20 for the whole kit'n'caboodle. Because it makes no sense to trash what could be a fun and potentially profitable project because of some arbitrary targets. And to your point aimed at lep, there is no way I could justify spending $20 a month on any game, especially not a 5.5 year old one. I'll happily play if it's free, and might consider it if it was $5 a month, but an additional $15 is outrageous. Doesn't change the facts that people knew what they were potentially signing up to before the poll even went live, Jagex stated clearly the higher premium to recoup costs if there wasn't enough interest in the new servers, as there clearly isn't at this moment. People should be prepared to pay an extra $15 a month if the 250k target is never reached and be happy, as that is the cost Jagex have pre-determined if required to avoid these new nostalgia-servers not be a cash drain on themselves. Making the new serves free to play or lower premium without the amount of interest would be a terrible business move to please a very small vocal minority, which they were doing anyway with the news of 2007 servers returning. That's a poorly thought through argument. 07servers have the potential to be much more than just nostalgia, it has the potential to be a much smaller, yet profitable and growing independent game that generates money for the live game. However, that outcome is only possible if the cost is low enough to entice new players to try out the servers. Someone who's never played 07rs isn't going to pay 15 bucks a month for something they aren't even sure they'll like. as far as I'm concerned 07 servers have little to no potential to be sustainable for long period of time to generate cash for the main game. People will log in see that there expectations =/= the nostalgia they felt for 07 servers and quit after a few weeks/months at most. I've said it before bringing back 5.5 year old code to make so called 'old school' servers will be nothing like the game used to be, the game still had major flaws in 07 but everyone with rose tinted glasses on seems to forget that. the community made 2007 great, no matter how much obsolete coding you bring back with change the fact that the community has moved on or adapted to change. If you want an accurate prediction for these new servers look at RSC, it's mostly barren and overrun with bots now. Yet still costs Jagex 3 extra servers to maintain. The difference being RSC is actually a different game and hence a true legacy/'old school' server, unlike 07 servers. Jagex killed Rsc servers by making them closed just like they will kill 07 potential by making it too expensive to get off the ground. If you can't see the potential in a runescape reset to zero with a combat system that was extremely popular because it was before all of the overpowered weapons then you either haven't been apart of this game long or haven't paid attention to its evolution. The combat engine alone is enough to draw many old pkers back, as well as, those who pked right up to eoc. Also with everything reset it has a draw to those who want to start a new game and economy but it only has that draw if it comes with a reasonable cost. There are many like me who have left the game that would be willing to return at a reasonable cost, but that number will dwindle severely as it gets more expensive, not so much because we aren't willing to pay it but because we are old enough now to know that the game reset to zero that costs 20 dollars a month has no potential of getting off the ground. If runescape cost 10 bucks a month right from the start, it would most likely not even exist today. Because a new game can't muster a supporting network of players when it costs that much before the players even get a chance to become emotionally invested in the games survival. The community had no draw to me in 07, I prefer the community of 02 tbh.... But the gameplay of 07 has enough draw to me personally to come back. The old combat engine is nothing to be proud about or be a major enough selling point to 07 servers. As to the over-powered weapons part is simply part of a power creep. Back in early RSC/RS the rune 2h was considered overpowered, based on it's speed being equal to a dagger or scimi. Dragon b'axe was considered overpowered upon it's release. Hell even the whip was considered overpowered in it's heyday. It's only after new weapons are released that people realise that these weapons aren't over-powered just top end of the game at that moment. I myself have personally played for the best part of 8 nearly 9 years, I played very actively during the 05-09 period, and I can gladly say I feel nothing positive about going back to the 2007 servers, if anything it would be a massive step backwards for Jagex and runescape as a whole.
  11. The fact remains Jagex know what they're talking about financially anyway. How else would they manage to maintain an MMO for over 10 years otherwise, I highly doubt they just pulled $15 a month figure out of there asses, if they say the new servers will cost membership +$15 a month for under 250k players it must be an accurate cost that Jagex have worked out. The old coding maybe there in the old back-up but it's not that simple to make it into a viable game ready to play. Jagex will need to hire staff to maintain the servers, make it possible for the old code to be supported by the current platform runescape runs on etc. As to the updates, the only updates 07 servers should get are critical bug fixes etc. No new gameplay features, interface changes, new quests etc. as soon as Jagex start actively updating 07 servers with content they will no longer be 'old school'/legacy servers.

  14. But it does counter the psychic-type Espeon. The chart sort of falls apart if you don't use that specific organization scheme. Agreed, I never made the chart just found it browsing serebiiforums, but the jist seems to be in the order they're placed there everything has either a weakness or effectiveness all except for jolteon hence the flying or ground typing idea (even though ground type is pretty much impossible), my money is still on flying type personally. The idea of it's shiny form being released first is intriguing point though and would throw a lot of people off the scent. Jolteon is good against vaporeon though... Granted so say you swap Jolteon for Leafeon in that chart it means that Leafeon is still missing an opposite, seeing as we already have Flareon for fire and swapped leafeon's place away from being opposite Vaporeon, that leaves Leafeon weak to flying, and strong against ground/rock, two of the types the chart already speculated Sylveon to be, seeing as we already discredited ground we can safely discredit rock on the same grounds leaving us with flying once more. Also what if sylveon is based on sylph, an imaginary air being, along the lines of a fairy, that could also fit the flying type
  15. It's not that simple, if everyone votes for the sake of it then doesn't play the 2007 servers it means Jagex would have created a business plan for say 800k players but only 300k players ever log in I.e free for all but they'll lose out because normally for 300k players they would have incurred a monthly cost on top of usual membership to pay for the dev. staf to maintain 2007 servers. But if only the people that want to play vote they'll create an accurate business plan that factors in the costs versus profit effectively. I'm not saying don't vote at all only vote if your actually intending to play the new servers, otherwise your feeding Jagex false data that helps no-one and hinders both games.
  16. As said before, no just no....re-read the last 39 pages for many reasons why this is the worst idea possible.
  17. But it does counter the psychic-type Espeon. The chart sort of falls apart if you don't use that specific organization scheme. 18. Based on a chart I saw on serebiiforums it seems every eeveelution has a counter type, except for jolteon based on this reasoning people believe sylveon wil be either flying (super weak) or ground (super effective), my personal bet based on this would be flying, giving jolteon its super effectiveness in eeveelution family. Sylveon looks nothing like a ground type, but distinctly part flying with it's long flowing scarf?/hair? whatever you wish to call them. https://i.chzbgr.com/maxW500/7063681792/h56F6F4A5/ had to link, image extension was unwelcome on here.B
  19. That's a totally unsubstantiated claim, we have prior experience of how successful retro servers are with RSC, so it's still my belief they won't be worthwhile and cost effective at all after the first few months initial interest. And comparing these new servers to private servers isn't the same, IIRC private servers have rares and cheats to access items/levels at will. Not many people will be willing to work from level 3 base stats 0 gp and put in the amount of work required to buy/earn high stats and top 2007 armour/weapons etc. Plus the bots that are prevalent in private servers will be just as prevalent in the 2007 servers, thus causing even more competition for limited resources that everyone is going to need upon starting the game i.e. copper, tin, iron, low level slayer tasks, basic logs, leather and many more.
  20. this 2007 runescape server will be just like the current RSC servers Jagex are wasting money to maintain within months. Empty hollow shells that used to hold great memories, friendships and unbridled wanderlust. What are Jagex thinking bringing back another nostalgiafest server, have they not learnt anything, those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
  21. My first knee jerk reaction is the same as my logical drawn out reaction a big fat NO! The servers will be void of actual players within months when people realize how bad the game is graphically, gameplay and community wise and just be drain on Jagex's ability to finance/focus on the actual main game. How many times must people be told nostalgia =/= expectation, the only thing that ever made 2007 rs great was the community, and that has been long gone. Anyone with any view of a future in this game would be wise to say no and abstain from voting,
  22. If your serious, you have to set an insane goal like 5bil on rs, maybe completing the national dex up to Black & White 2 using the Nuzlocke Challenge, with all gameplay being uploaded to youtube of course :) And for anyone unfamiliar with the Nuzlocke Challenge .. http://pokemon.wikia.com/wiki/Nuzlocke_Challenge To unspam, gratz on the magic 5bil xp milestone (well 4.99bil until 21st)
  23. It requires Rotm and Firemakers Curse that kinda suggests Zaros stuff even if not his return; not to mention teasers mention we might see Nex. I noticed too in the requirements it kinda covers all the gods Rotm - Zammy, Zaros, Arma and Sara kind feature in various capacities Choosen Commander - Bandos Fire makers curse - more zaros/zammy Branches of Darkmeyer - more zammy and sort of sara True I missed that part, really hope Jagex do this quest justice. I'm expecting something truly mind blowing if it's as good as the hype Jagex have given it so far.
  24. A GM quest featuring Guthix, that I have all the requirements to complete fully. Finally the first true test in maintaining my QP cape, since I've earnt it (every quest since has been reworks) so I really can't wait :) Just hope Jagex don't mess up this storyline, kind of disappointed that the GM quest that changes the world has no mention of Zaros, hoped the GM quest that heralded year 170 would be the return of Zaros. Nothing else really draws my attention to February's updates.
