Anyway I don't think that really matters, because items kept on death was changed to not rely on alch prices anymore in like April 2011, and Onyxes were given that super high alch price in like early June 2011. When did they give Chaotics their 20m + 1gp kept on death value anyway? Looks like their items kept on death value was like 130k at the time; just Barrows body + legs would protect over that, bcp/tassets as well.

It really depends on where you live. Some areas might have far more people trying to buy it in-stores at release and they might run out of stock. Less of an issue compared to previous Gens. since many will choose to just buy it on the eShop instead of buying retail cartridge, but still. Over here I went to get Platinum like one day after release and there were still 8 rows full of Platinum boxes, like one of them had one missing but that's about it.
