This "free trial"
I've heard this said since 2004, yet every quarter Jagex posts growing sales and profits. At some point the armchair businessmen are going to have to concede that they have no idea what they're talking about.

Video Ads.
I'm going to go with never, although for years Jagex has been obsessed with graphical upgrades to the free section of the world while neglecting the members areas, so there is something to be said about how they see their prospective vs their existing customer base. This is the same Jagex that has been performing major overhauls to their tutorial at least once a year since 2008.

This "free trial"
"What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul." Eventually you need to come to the understanding that Jagex is a company. Pure free to players are only here to bolster the number of registered users that keeps Jagex on the Guinness Book of World Records every year and keeps the free servers populated, and to contribute to the economy. Otherwise, they don't want to see you, they don't want to hear from you. Every time Jagex does anything to promote members, the free to play community reacts like a group of entitled children, and then turn around and wonder why this game's community is regarded as so immature. The Jagex of today is not the same as the Jagex of old, and its not because Andrew Gower was some wise sage. The Jagex of old had terrible business insight, straying from the norm not because of a desire to be different but a lack of insight and limitations of the engine. If I had to choose between the current Jagex and the Jagex that preached community love with one hand while banning anyone who mentions a fan site with the other, or the Jagex that thought what free players really wanted was a gnome copter ride to see fake members areas over the one that offers a real taste, the Jagex that does jack shit about bots until the game literally reaches its breaking point, and the Jagex that never talked to its community, I will take the new Jagex. If Jagex needs investors beating them over the head to make progress and get in line with the rest of the MMO genre, so be it.

14-Feb-2012 - TzHaar Quest, Minigame and Graphical Rework
I remember when Jagex put more thought into their bosses than "Let's molest the player by just throwing in a few high hitting monsters from ALL three sides of the triangle at the same time." Wave 7/7 is ridiculous.

Then why are people complaining about them being removed? You're trying to inject rationality into a community that gives mostly kneejerk responses to updates with all the finesse of a child in the Walmart parking lot. People will get over it once their tantrums have subsided and they accept that they'll have to actually play the game.

Is it just me or has the sound been removed when drinking potions?

7- Feb-2012 - Name Availability
Which means I'll never get Omali as a nickname. I'm pretty sure the guy who got the name is banned, he hasn't shown up on the high scores between '03 and when free to play was taken off.

Possibility of a members free trial in the coming months
That's because the midsummer special was crap. You needed a credit card and the subscription cost was charged as a deposit and the player was signed up for a membership that they had to cancel. That didn't fly with a lot of people.

Fix FPS & lag instead of bringing new game content?
This is getting ridiculous. Every new update brings RuneScape's performance down for me. The new Taverly barely runs on mid-level graphics mode, it's so bloated and unoptomized.

31-Jan-2012 - Troll Warzone
I hope I'm not the only one who fell for it when I first entered the area and saw "pick up Torag's Helm (0)" (or a similar item) and immediately started spam clicking the "pick up" only to realize it was someone's pet.

The members tutorial is impossible to complete because Spira won't give me the assignment to kill gelatinous abominations.

JAGEX LIMITED v.IMPULSE SOFTWARE, ERIC SNELLMAN, and MARK SNELLMAN
The JMod bot hunts weren't successful because they announced when they were going to happen. That's really not the case. There were far more busts going on than you know of. They are still terribly inefficient. The only thing they would be good for is to visibly have jmods banning which may make some botters afraid. But I don't think that worked that well. It's really just a waste of time. It's not really to make the botters afraid, it's to entertain the player base at the expense of the bots and an active reminder that there are bans going on. For instance, in the Guild Wars video I had up, when a player is banned while logged in, a giant reaper comes out of the ground and slays them. No intervention needed, it's just basically an animation that accompanies a kick/ban command.

So they're fighting bots with bigger bots? That's... Actually a strategy that I could get behind. Transformers: Bot Busters In Disguise. That would be pretty neat. "Player #165392J, you have been marked as a bot, and will shortly be terminated." I wish Jagex would do some flashy bot banning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usYzlP_9w_c&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBFCX2Oa-Zo

Fix FPS & lag instead of bringing new game content?
I can play any recent game on max settings on my computer, but solely RuneScape runs horribly. I highly doubt it's just a coincidence that so many people are having problems that just happened to start on the exact same day, meaning it's a problem with RuneScape running on certain setups, not the performance itself.

Remember when the botters were all screaming "oh yea well Jagex are law breaking law breakers and we're gonna sue them for this frivolous lawsuit and then take their game." Oh to see the looks on their faces now.

Haven't let my subscription lapse since 2005, don't plan on any time soon.

try not playing runescape with a microwave My microwave can still play RuneScape on high settings, so please don't use your cheap GE model as a benchmark for all microwaves. My computer that can play all of my other games maxed out, however, still cannot play RuneScape without lagging in cities unless I turn the graphics down. Jagex should upgrade RuneScape from Java to UNITY. It is also a browser based engine and requires minimal download.

I have the feeling Pulli23 is a character from 1984, because this post is one giant memory hole. No, don't look at the people holding the strings, look at the puppets, look at the puppets, don't look there, look here.

Yea, I've noticed since the bot sweep that RuneScape is becoming less and less stable on my computer, lagging more and more.

JAGEX LIMITED v.IMPULSE SOFTWARE, ERIC SNELLMAN, and MARK SNELLMAN
I wrote about this back when Jagex first announced the lawsuit. I was slammed with spam comments by ibot users saying Jagex (with an F replacing the J) would never win and how I was only reporting on it because I was a (f word) and apparently have had intimate relations with Andrew Gower. So watching Jagex win is especially fun for me.

Hotfix: Toy Horsey Phrases
It's hard to imagine someone getting addicted to gambling starting on a game like RuneScape, in a "wow, I guess that really can happen" sort of way. It's a bit like imagining your sibling getting addicted to prescription painkillers from taking an NSAID after they twisted their ankle. It's not, truly, since people can get addicted to online gambling and still feel all the strong symptoms of it...but for those who have never dealt with an addict in their home, in their life, through rock bottom to recovery, that's what it seems like. I have a family history of gambling addiction, so I admit it's easier to sympathize for me than others. Still, I suggest the people in this thread take a trip to a casino one day and just walk around. Not the classy areas, like the card tables where the people are generally outward in their ego, I mean the penny/nickle/dime slots. It's like walking into a rat's nest, make eye contact with anyone and it's pretty much an indication that you plan to stab them in the back and steal their machine which was no doubt about to give them the big payout. And just on that factor alone, you will receive some of the dirtiest looks you will ever experience from another person. It's creepy as hell.

New Lure / Bug Abuse to Watch Out For
Jagex should ban the victim as well, just to send a message that they don't tolerate people breaking (or in this case attempting to break) the rules. Someone getting scammed like this and reporting the person reminds me of when you see on the news someone calling the police saying "I was trying to buy crack and they took my money and gave me nothing/plaster/baking soda, I was defrauded!" Then the police arrest the person for admitting they were trying to buy drugs.
