  1. Fine timing. I wrote a bit last night about the game Garry's Mod and how DDOS'ing of servers by the cheating community has almost obliterated the game and caused most of the best programmers to abandon the game. It is seriously pathetic how petty people can be over an online game. It's getting bad enough that server hosts are dropping the game due to bandwidth costs. ISPs should be investing money into stopping DDOS attacks at their source.
  2. That would be because old Jagex couldn't afford tv adverts, and reacted like kids: "I didn't want tv ads anyway, they suck."
  3. The rantings of an entitled child.
  4. CCFs are never mind-twisting, they're just vaguely worded and/or poorly administered so that you think you've got the correct answer, but you don't. It's not like it damages the game or anything to have one though. Let's not forget that Jagex has a tendency to [bleep] up the clues. I distinctly remember several clues from the first two cryptic clue fests being initially unsolvable because Jagex screwed up their algorithms, stuff was left out, puzzles were unsolvable, etc. There is also no sense of "I was there at the time," because the rewards have been re-released every year. I'll play Professor Layton on the Nintendo DS if I want intelligent, well thought out puzzles that make you feel a sense of accomplishment when you finally figure them out.
  5. Do you know what doesn't rhyme with Runespan? Neurotoxin.
  6. Optimus Prime is going to drop into the Grand Exchange and announce Project Optimus. ...or Transformers Online. Whatever.
  7. So where is everyone going in two hours? Grand Exchange, Catherby, or Ardougne?
  8. Am I the only one who really hates how they've increasingly referred to the world as Runescape as opposed to Gielinor in-game? The problem Jagex has is that too many people handle RuneScape's writing. There is no dedicated person, so you get mods who refer to it as RuneScape and mods who refer to it as Gielinor.
  9. I should apply. I know quite a bit about RuneScape, its history, and what has been on the shelf for the past decade, I can make money, and I'm American. Exactly what Jagex are looking for.
  10. I don't know about the new set, but I hated the original sagas. Never got through them because the whole system is so shoddily coded. Like many of the other non-traditional systems Jagex tries to code into Java: Bloated, laggy, and just about functioning.
  11. They've just noticed this? I don't think set vs. component prices have ever been the same. Congratulations once again on not having any freaking clue about how your own economy works, Jagex. <_< Someone enlighten me to the scamming that was going on, not sure if I understand this. The price of sets and components were not the same (buying components individually =/= buying the set) but where was the scamming? People tricking each other into selling the parts separately and then selling it as a set? Is that considered a scam?
  12. That's because you're grasping for reasons to complain about them.
  13. Yea, I doubt it'll be anything big on a Saturday. It'll be an announcement, because if Jagex loves anything it is announcing a countdown leading to the announcement of an announcement.
  14. Quoting this now because you always say what the update will be and, as usual, are wrong. I'll say good job when the update comes, if you're right. On Topic: I don't like the idea of a count down either. What are you talking about? 3hitu has sources at Jagex who leak out information on updates to him, as they have done with all of his wrong predictions in the past.
  15. Some people had problems that made the game unplayable, others didn't. Incompatabilities or something, I don't know the details. This. For many it was brought on by the bot nuke, when Jagex massively changed the system around. Personally I hadn't been able to play stably on anything above minimum since October, and only after the update they did a week or so ago did it become stable to play on high. And my computer can play everything else on max-settings.
  16. Jagex put out a video response to the speculation that they are grasping for cash. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ON-7v4qnHP8
  17. Free to play is insulted by everything Jagex does, including free trials of membership.
  18. Wait, they don't? I bought my membership over the phone once many years ago for RuneScape and I remember putting in my phone number on the website and getting an automated call with the pin. They don't do that anymore?
  19. "I don't find her attractive and you do, and seeing as my tastes are clearly superior and well defined (as I get all the chicks all day every day), you are a lower class peasant with poor sight and low standards of the opposite sex. Now excuse me while I go to the grocery and judge everyone."
  20. Allow something to go on for an extremely long amount of time, then remove it. Claim it was a bug all along. Jagex logic!
  21. I haven't seen this Q&A but I bet I can answer 95% of everyone's questions before Jagex does. "I can't answer that right now." A Jagex Q&A is, and has been for the past 7 years I've been here, a measure of patience as Jagex answers anything substantial with "I can't answer that," or "I'm not the right person to answer," (often answering the same question multiple times), gives long answers to irrelevant garbage like "what's your favorite NPC?" and runs out of time before anything of worth can be said.
  22. the structure on rsof is very limited and you cut out half the readers if you use a word longer than 7 letters, may edit my tif later. Also while these issues are not new, I remember scammers in 2006, it is just much more a problem today with every bank and the ge holding host to the now familiar hot/cold games, and someone selling a toy horse. The GE scammers of today are merely the World 2 Falador scammers of old who used the fast-paced nature of trades coupled with the lag and lack of anti-scam measures to trick people into trading for similar looking items or simply by removing the item at the last second and hoping the other person is in enough of a rush that they don't notice. And the begging/entitlement problem is a cultural issue that goes beyond what any of us in RuneScape might hope to fix.
  23. Omali replied to Mr_G_W's topic in General Discussion
I'm not a kid and I've got quite a few years under my belt. I've been playing rs for a long, long time and hace seen plenty of jagex's Easter eggs and I don't believe it was coincidence they put this one in at a time like this. Now I'm sure you might think so. We don't need your unwarranted, and frankly what seems to be disparaging responses. Did anyone even call you a child in the first place? It's not going to surprise me if they did though, since you're acting that way, but I digress. Easter Eggs are put in for laughs - for recreation, so why must you assume that they must be for some nefarious purpose, or with some underlying meaning? Because people in this community have a knack for drama. It's the same reason that the same type of people gave honest thought back in 07-08 that Jagex was intentionally "destroying" RuneScape to get people to move over to Stellar Dawn.
  24. My optimistic nature wants to tell me that Jagex understands that legitimizing buying GP would be the straw that broke the camel's back. Also a few people mentioned that it would place a value on GP and label RuneScape as gambling and subject to appropriate laws in appropriate countries. I think if Jagex does expand the cash shop (and RuneScape does have a cash shop now, that only sells spins), it will follow the logic of Squeal of Fortune: Untradeable, unalchable, special versions. Like you'll be able to buy a "Requisitioned [item]" (requisitioned is just the title I gave to it).
