  1. Am I the only one not getting any system messages in dungeoneering? Nothing from trying to unlock doors I don't have the keys for, clicking examine or value on items in or out of shops, etc.
  2. People have seen too many movies where the corporate billionaire buys up the majority shares and is about to destroy the company so the protagonists have to collect X-million in two weeks by midnight so they can buy him out. Maniacal laugh. Maniacal laugh.
  3. There was an episode of House MD where Cuddy goes to the CEO of an insurance company trying to screw the Hospital out of money and threatens to hold a press conference showing how corrupt he is. His response was perfect: "You can make me out to be a rich villain as much as you want, so long as I stay rich."
  4. Pretty much this. World of Warcraft in the past couple of years has seen a drop of around two million subscribers (from 12 to 10.3 million in Nov. 2011, but Blizzard has since said that The Old Republic also damaged their numbers), but the folks at Blizzard aren't exactly scared. Thanks to sales from their cash shop, the game's revenue stream is even higher than it was with the subscribers. I have little doubt we will see a major increase in revenue on Jagex's next financial statement.
  5. Sony does it. You can buy $20 Station Cash cards and use them toward subscriptions or as straight up station cash. Jagex might be unifying their systems under one roof in preparation for Transformers Online which may or may not include microtransactions (Jagex has said in the past that they were looking toward such a system for future titles). Unifying the systems would also offer more publicity for War of Legends.
  6. Looks like we'll be seeing a lot more j-coins in the coming year. Jcoin have existed for over two years.
  7. Take your $200 and invest it toward a nice suit. If everyone was wearing a nice suit we wouldn't have any problems. "Let's fight." "Are you kidding, I'll wrinkle!"
  8. Not much Jagex can do about it, no hardware has 100% uptime, and the RuneScape servers are pretty reliable.
  9. The great part of predicting slippery slopes is that you have an infinite amount of time to be proven correct, and can never be proven wrong. "It hasn't happened." "But it might." "It's been a few years now." "But it still might."
  10. I think clue scrolls just need to be updated to be more fun. Clue scrolls come from the mentality of 2004 Jagex, who thought that the difficulty of a task was directly proportional to how tedious it was. It was also long before the Grand Exchange came out, so there was more difficulty in gathering the items required than there was actually solving the clues (as the coordinates and clues were solved and documented online rather quickly).
  11. I dungoneeer solo pretending I am like Indiana Jones.
  12. Indeed you do. Though I think it's more "By logging on you agree" than "Accept NOW or no scape for you!" You agree when you create your account, that when playing said account, you agree to the terms of service. This agreement was made when the account got created, so if they change the terms of service players should have to accept it again before being allowed to play again. By accepting the ToS you agree to it, so you should have the right to refuse if Jagex backs out or adds to a part. If they can change the ToS and the "agreement" would still stand, abuse would become very easy. If you accept a Terms of Service with a provision that allows the company to change it at any time and without notice, then you do agree to any future changes. That provision has been in place for long before Squeal of Fortune.
  13. What are you talking about? They just released a quest. RuneScape: The Quest For More Money
  14. I hope they are permanent, I hate dungeoneering and this update will likely bring me back.
  15. The problem is you can't specify the value. As long as that bucket doesn't have a value less than what they sell 1 spin it's no gambling as you can't lose moneys worth. btw It prevents Jagex from making an item shop where they sell certain stuff from the squeal or something which can be traded for gp because then you can specify those values. But they can sell loyality points... Solution: remove all potential Nex items, Bandos, Arma, 3a, etc, etc, etc, from the SoF, then you can start selling them in a cash shop. Just wait a few months just to be sure. Hell, the best items most people get are like rune ones anyways, people do it for exp. Not much of a jump to remove all the obscenely rare items that no one gets and them sell them for IRL cash. Not to mention that getting rid of items that arguable have real-world value helps their "it's not gambling case" - afterall, Jagex denies RWT involving RS GP, a rune scimitar would only be worth a fraction of a penny anyways, and the items with actual IRL value (whether or not Jagex wants to admit it) aren't on the wheel. On the other hand, Jagex could call it something else "Requisitioned [item name]," make it untradeable, and claim it is a completely different item because you can only get it on the cash shop and sell it.
  16. No, they've been looking into it for a year or so. The investigation asked several large Korean developers (NCSoft, Nexon, Hanbitsoft) over these grab bags that appear in their games. If you haven't seen them, they're pretty much what Squeal of Fortune is based off of, with the exception that you can't get them through normal gameplay. You have to buy the tickets and they offer a chance at random prizes. The Games Rating Board (Think ESRB, but Government operated and mandated) is attempting to determine if these constitute gambling. Unfortunately, none of the companies being investigated (ten in all) have complied with handing over statistics as to payout percentage, claiming the data was private, likely as a desperate save because if it is determined to be gambling they will have to get rid of them. Again, Jagex probably doesn't have much to lose in South Korea.
  17. In South Korea the government is looking into whether or not these systems constitute gambling, and thus fall under the country's ban on gambling. I'm not sure how many customers Jagex has out of Sotuh Korea but they stand to lose them.
  18. Coming here to dance on Runescape's grave is the pettiest thing you could have done. Move over, I want five more minutes of dancing first. Are you using the classic dance emote?
  19. The ETA came from a post by Jacmob on the RSBuddy forums.
  20. Link title, OP is a troll. Also Jagex said years ago that RuneScape is incompatible with microtransactions, but their future MMOs may be built with the model in mind.
  21. Are those the old Rune platelegs?
  22. I generally get replies when I email Jagex.
  23. Aw, come here big guy.
  24. As someone who used to rent apartments, I can attest that the legs are the hardest spot to hit a fleeing person with a crossbow.
