25-Oct-2011 - Bot-Nuking Day: Making RuneScape Fairer and More Fun!
Unless of course using the software did stuff which does break laws such as break copyright (DMCA). The users aren't innocent here and if they have a problem with the action taken by Jagex they could always class action against the bot makers for false advertising "undetectable" etc. Still though, I don't thinl suing their players is a good idea. It still comes across as petty and pedantic. Except they aren't suing players, they're suing botters and only those that don't stop after Jagex sent out the warning.

Jiblix and Ken Genosis Demodded Over Speaking Out
You're really gasping for air there. Jagex got bailed out? By who? And there are no new players coming in? Your evidence of this? Jagex isn't going to get any bad PR for this, except from the rampant trolling that goes on in this forum and in other Runescape fansites. In fact I'll go on stand saying nobody outside of Runescape is even going to hear about this, because there are far more important things for gaming websites to talk about than a few unvetted volunteer mods losing what little privileges they had because they talked shit about the company they volunteer for on the forums. Part of the community thinks that Jagex is being tough because none of them have any experience being part of an actual volunteer moderator system, not the barely functioning system Jagex has going. Years back, I couldn't get volunteer moderators to do interviews with me on other MMOs because when they signed up they had to give a signature that they wouldn't talk negatively about the company, same contracts that the employees sign. And if they break the contract, they stand to be sued for damages laid out in the contract. Granted, you'll never get anyone to admit that these exist, because part of the clause also prevents the person from acknowledging that they'd ever signed such an agreement. Like I said in my earlier post, Jagex is one of the most laid back developers when it comes to volunteer moderators, to a fault, and most MMOs don't even bother with such a system anymore because this is the kind of garbage that pops up.

Self promotion? Don't mind if I do. http://mmofallout.com/2011/04/13/runescape-no-we-dont-vet-our-moderators/ Emphasis on the first paragraph.

02-Nov-2011 - Log-in and Frame-rate Issues
I've been getting terrible loading times. And I know it's not the game putting too much strain on my computer because it takes the same amount of time to load on low as it does on max.

Might I say, your legs seem to go on for days. <3:

01 Nov, 2011 - Behind the Scenes - November
because it isn't the number 1 free game anymore ;) They have lost that contest. They have? To what? Last I checked, Runescape still holds the Guinness Record for most popular free MMORPG.

Can We FINALLY Have a Beta? Dominion Tower showed the benefits
Why do people assume only a small portion will be able to get in? You open up testing to everyone, and I guarantee that (much like every other MMO with an open test server) only a small fraction will even want to use it. A segregated server that may or may not regularly wipe and only allow you to transfer a copy of your current character over. Like I said, let's say Jagex makes the whip more attractive. What's the difference between the whip prices going up on Saturday rather than Tuesday?

Ultima Online has an economy similar to Runescape's and it manages to survive with a public test realm. I would assume that Runescape's community is a bit... Different. Runescape's community will change. When they added a test server to Ultima Online, the same issues came up. The only thing that changes after all things considered is that the economy changes to match the updates a couple weeks earlier than it already would have.

RuneScape 2012 from RuneFest (future updates)
How would you level it up? Level 1: Sitting in Lumbridge f2p saying "need hot rich bf"

Frost dragons have a new attack (gf bots for a week or two)
You've made me sad just thinking about that now :( Maybe they decided that too many people had access to Frosts, so they butchered them for usefulness so that a future DG reward (which will be rather limited once again) can be introduced at a later stage. Or a new member loyalty aura.

Frost dragons have a new attack (gf bots for a week or two)
I don't understand why Jagex put this update in with the bot nuke so close, unless they really didn't know even a week prior when it'd be finished. I can just imagine the jmods sitting around depressed, wondering how long the bots will take to break the frost update, when suddenly the IT guys come in to report on their progress, looking all sullen and walking slow, then BAM. I imagine it looked something like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz9jc5blzRM&feature=related

25-Oct-2011 - Bot-Nuking Day: Making RuneScape Fairer and More Fun!
I keep reading it as Cluster[bleep]er, which more describes the response on the bots part than Jagex's implementation at this point.

Jagex Is Not Done Yet With Its Anti-Bot Efforts
I wouldn't mind a new Xbox.

Jagex confirms it'll be happening soon. My body is ready.

Yea, let's fix the problem by killing the profitability in Runescape one mob at a time.

What Loyalty Rewards Say to Me
If Jagex were to go into microtransactions, I'd see them going for cosmetic items only, and possibly bonus exp.

11-Oct-2011 - Update on our ongoing battle against bots
A few other games have found the morale benefits of letting people see direction action towards cheaters. In Guild Wars and Aion, GM's will come into the game and literally blow up the bot/spammer. Vogster posts statistics on a weekly basis of how many people are caught cheating, and a few games still throw out public server messages when a player is banned for botting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFfy90w_C9A

Is Runescape slowly not becoming a game?
I disagree on this point. I've played Runescape since 2004, but never saw Jagex as an innovator, or really a follower on that note. In fact, they have a long history of being far behind their competition on simple things like clan functionality, community relations, etc. I will say that Andrew Gower is like the Bill Gates/Steve Jobs of the MMO industry, a story of someone starting out with just a couple of people turning their tiny game into a massive company.

15-Sep-2011 - RuneScape Classic: The Final Countdown
No it isn't. Before the classic cape was even introduced, Jagex said that they were going to open up the servers from time to time so new people could experience the game. Then when the cape released, they said newer people would be able to get it each time they opened up the servers. It's amazing how elitist people can be in this game over simple capes. Edit: They should change the description though. "See what the old 'wildy' was like" was added when Runescape still had the wilderness restrictions in RS2.

06-Sep-11 - New High Level Prayer Potion
I just gathered MTK with 100% approval and...I want to say 15 days of waiting. Got 21 grimy fellstalk, obviously among the usual crop of stuff.

RuneVillage - Removed as gold status because owner is a sex offender
If it were up to me, SteveW would be out on his ass tomorrow heading to the unemployment line. This is what Jagex has come to? Publicly shaming people in stickied threads on their forums? I have a hard time explaining to people at my job that their credit card was declined, what kind of a thuggish [wagon] does SteveW have to be to condemn an entire fansite to endless harassment for the sake of making some kind of [cabbage] statement about protecting the children, a disproportionate response to an imaginary threat.
