  1. There would be more work to be done, but I do think that Rune being the highest thing you can smith is the result of short-sightedness on Jagex's part, although that is long in the past. Smithing dragon would cause the prices to drop, but dragon really isn't as special as it used to be. Even Jagex has gone back on the comment they made years ago to keep Dragon special and not complete the set by adding in the Kite, the Full Helm, and the Platebody, and two of those three are in the game. I think if Jagex introduce smithing Dragon, they should do it in a similar way to smithing the Dragon platebody and Dragon Kiteshield. By that I mean finding pieces.
  2. Jagex has tried in the past to outsmart players. The Chaos Elemental teleports and de-equips. The Dag Kings are 3 bosses in one area. Kalphite Queen has prayer. What they can't do, as mentioned, is just pile on strength and health points. A cheap way to force partnership would be to introduce stunning. The creature will continue attacking you while you're stunned, and the only way to get it off is for someone else to whack you on the head (With a funny little animation). Granted, Jagex would also have to make the area like the D.Kings and require two players standing on a lever or something to get in. Another way is to reinvent a technique common in Slayer: Final blows. Say Jagex introduces white dragons, and wants them to be a group activity. They could make it so, when the monster's on a sliver of HP, one player uses a rope to lasso the dragon's head, pulling its head down and leaving it vulnerable. Player #2 then swings/fires/casts the killing blow. A more group orientated version of the use rock hammer to kill gargoyle. This one is actually my favorite.
  3. The issue we face with Smithing is that Jagex decided to end the skill at a time when Rune was one of the best armor you could get. There were only two dragon pieces of armor, Andrew Gower's expression at the time was that the Dragon set would not be completed, and chances are Rune was going to be pretty much top tier, despite having only a 40 requirement. I think the only way to rectify this is to take our current spectrum and smash it together, so that Rune tops off at an earlier level. Daeyalt is an ore introduced in the Myreque series. Maybe use that to create a new armor set that is similar to barrows in stats and while it doesn't have any of the specials of Barrows, it doesn't degrade. This would pave the way for further leveled metal armors. Smithing really needs something better than Rune, but smushing the levels together is the only way to accomplish that. Smithing has received some tiny updates over the years, but it remains obsolete, its idea completely unchanged from a time when nobody could smith Rune and it was the best armor in the game that players could reasonably afford (Dragon wasn't worth risking in pvp, at least not to me)
  4. As if running Planet FunOrb and MMO Fallout wasn't enough, now I stand running yet another forum, but dedicated to the Tip.It boards, and probably to Runescape as well. First off, the obligatory "about me" bit. I'm 20 years old, and I currently live in New York. Currently I am majoring in Communication Arts, where I hope to move on to obtain my degree in broadcasting, along the spectrum of radio. I'm 20 years old, but my tragic flaw is in my baby face. I still get carded to get into R RATED MOVIES (I just went to see Zombieland and they asked for my ID), not to mention I get looked at like a thief when I try to pay with a debit card, which you can obtain at 16. I even had the bad luck of my to-be boss at my previous job ignoring me, as he thought I was 13 (This was last year). I currently have the highscore for blood pressure, thanks to two jobs, five college courses, and two websites: 145/73 with a pulse of 100, which puts me between Stage 1 and Stage 2 hypertension. That's actually an improvement over what it used to be. At my old blood pressure, my doctor warned me that I was at a major risk of a heart attack, or possibly a stroke, as early as 23. I can't wait for Tip.It to port some of their old themes over to the new forums. This is way too white for me, and I'm referring to someone about as pale as this glass of milk I'm drinking. Anyway, more to come!
  5. Maybe that underwater area we saw outside the godwars dungeon?
  6. I'm going to be renting an RSC server. My first order of business is to set up my admin team, consisting of every person on TIF who has ranted about the "good old days", as well as anyone who manages to find a way to bribe me by sending extremely perishable foods through snail mail. By food, of course, I mean money. and you get permabanned. and I send William Shatner to talk you to death. This sounds counterintuitive until you realize that it'd be against the rules for me to take money for in game, advantages, but there's no rule against taking money in return for real life disadvantages
  7. The scary thing about this post is that it makes sense... The scary thing is that, much like Glouph/Glouphrie, Ivan Strom/Vanstrom are not the same person. Confirmed by Jagex.

  13. Then and stop tracking mud into the thread. This thread made me nostalgia back to my own days on Karajama fishing swordfish in f2p. I cooked my fish back then before taking it back to bank, and I can't say how many times I raged finally getting that swordfish, and then burning it.
  14. Anyone with those stats would hate quests, so I'm not surprised. High enough that you've done the easy ones, yet not hard enough to tackle the real quests.
  15. Bandos didn't create any races, he was a war god who attempted to recruit various races, and was only accepted by the least intelligent and most brutish and violent (Goblins, Ogres, etc). It's very possible that, as far as power goes, Bandos may be on the lower end of the spectrum. He appears to be more akin to the bully who is only powerful because he has strong followers.
  16. That means wearable skill capes in F2P is still in the question. Or Corrupt Skillcapes - They degrade after 30 minutes of skilling. :? So much for Jagex's claim that F2P wasn't a demo. Free to play isn't a demo, and Jagex not giving f2p skillcapes doesn't suddenly make it a demo. Learn what a demo is. Runescape is a Freemium title.

Yea, I remember when we had thousands of bots logged in too. I like it better now that the numbers aren't inflated.
  18. I'm pretty sure sheep herder is a requirement for another quest though. But still if you could manage to get an untrimmed music cape it would be pretty awesome. You can unlock the track, but not complete the quest, easy :P You still need to complete all quests along the way of unlocking all songs.
  19. It would be. Players: omg, system update. Player 2: I BET ITS SAILING Players: STFU ABOWT SAILING, IZ NOT COMING OUT! Mod MMG: Surprise!
  20. This person gets it. Gets what? I don't get it. :? Sailing was once a serious movement and people really do think it's still coming out. They saw everything as a sign of sailing, and now the idea is basically a longstanding mock of that group. Like when people respond to conspiracy theories with "It's swamp gas" or "weather balloons". It's a joke, mocking a serious movement, in this case because some people overreact to it.
  21. While you're at it, why not throw in a good Nazi analogy? Irrelevant and whiny. Yea, realistic. I prefer to buy as many fire runes in Runescape as I can at my local pawn shop. I mean srsly, Jafix, you guys should know this stuff. I'm going to completely disregard the post about certain items being tweaked, and the fact that shops were always finite, up until they updated to stop bots buying out runes, as a TEMPORARY SOLUTION. Then stop crying like a toddler every time they change something. Exactly. MMOs aren't MMOs because you can talk, trade, fight, cooperate, or compete against other players. It's all about how you can see what they sold. Why doesn't Jagex just add a loneliness skill, because this game is totally devoid of interaction now that you can't see what people sold to the General Store. Yea, Jagex has made GP worthless. Let's forget that Runescape survived for about 7 years on this system, minus the shops being personalized, and actually is an improvement over the old system. Not only will Jagex make items worthless, they'll start a death panel to decide whether kittens are to be roasted or beer battered. Oh and they're going to set up the Commission for Punching Your Mother. Welcome to the age of death; Population: Nobody. Exactly. Runescape is updating to be in line with Mechscape, which can only mean that the skills are being removed (Mechscape is a level-less game) as will experience and grinding. That's oddly coincidental. I've seen a slew of inflammatory rhetorical questions, lame exaggerations, and falsified facts recently. We should compare notes. You know nothing about business. Let's just leave it there before you embarrass yourself any further. If you're afraid of massive change, then get out of MMOs. No MMO is ever complete, it is an ongoing changing atmosphere that updates with time and trend. Runescape will continue updating, and one day HD will be the new SD, while SD will be left in the dust. The options are default because the number of us with decent computers that can run it far outweigh those on Compaq Pentium II's. You're really grasping for stuff to cry about, aren't you? There's the door. There's 47k people playing right now. That's the norm for this early in the morning when school is in session. I'm glad you didn't too. People like you pollute MMOs. You'll play it, and you'll continue to play Runescape. That's because, despite your constant whingeing, you actually like the game. You just want something to angst about. You'll be back, and you're going to continue whining at every opportunity, or you're going to turn into the guy who quit, yet still comes back to give us a constant feed of his ill-informed opinions on how Runescape sucks. The key part of that was "in my eyes." Your eyes are wrong, plain and simple. Odd, considering you're always whining that Runescape should go back to how it used to be. That's because junk trading isn't a valid form of trade. No, he said they weren't going to make it against the rules because it wasn't malicious. He also said close by that statement that they were planning on nuking junk trading. The community has known about this for about six months now. You don't care about players setting the price, otherwise you'd welcome the fact that players can't flood the market anymore for these items, and the fact that floors/ceilings have been removed only gives players that much more of an ability to set prices. Junk created the illusion of stability, like putting a piece of paper underneath a wobbly table and calling it fixed. Eventually, that table is going to crash anyway. I'm going to go on a limb and say you're not acquainted with how the GE works. Again, I'm going to point out to your 5-second long attention span, that this is how Runescape used to be prior to the bot updates. You're against change of all kind, why aren't you lapping this up? Silly you not being able to adapt to, again, a system that was in place for 7 years minus the personalization. There's actually more stock than before the shops went infinite, because everyone gets their own.
  22. This person gets it.
  23. I would say part of an upcoming quest. Maybe the Red Axe dwarfs tie you up and try to drown you, and that's just part of the quest?

Regular scimitars are being updated so pirates have new weapons to attack you with following the release of Sailing. Also: Why hasn't the Dragon Dagger been updated? That has to be a popular weapon, at least more popular than the, eh, Rune 2 hander.
