Lore-wise, I loved Chosen commander, partially because it showed us just how far gods can intervene into the world (Pretty far, next to physically showing up themselves)

The quests have been tasty little snausages that are being released as an appetizer to the main course (The Mahjarrat up-north quest), so I'm really not depressed about them. A lore nut like myself is overjoyed at the idea that we've been introduced to numerous new Mahjarrat in the past year, alive and dead. With some of the smaller quests, it's like getting an external biography for the big one coming up. One thing Jagex loves to drive us on is foreshadowing and hype, and it's been like that for years. I'll be honest; I immediately switched my button to "Don't expect much" when they announced that this year will be about upgrades, and to be honest the key to surviving this year is just not to expect anything. 1. I'll agree on that. I hated the fact that it just stopped halfway through. Didn't the mummy tell us that the heart couldn't live long in that container? And Jagex are going to have it just sit there for a half a year? 2. To be honest, it was part of their method of reintroducing old content, and I prefer that they used existing unused space rather than clutter the world even more with useless cities and places no one ever goes to. Not necessarily. You'll find only a small handful of people work on each project. I mean, hell, quests are written out by only one person (MarkG or Paul, I believe, does Mourning's End series, and the entire Red Axe series was put on hold for YEARS because the guy who wrote it left the company, and only recently was someone tasked with continuing it). And if you think Runescape's dev team is mismanaged, don't bother looking at FunOrb (which if you couldn't tell by my signature, I do). When Zombie Dawn Multiplayer received 16 new maps, they couldn't put in the new achievements they wanted. Why? Because the guy (singular) who codes the achievements was working on the Armies of Gielinor Single Player Campaign and was busy. It could just be because Jagex is spending more time in concept stage, looking at what needs to be improved and how to do it. Remember when Jagex said they had this massive update they were working on that was originally going to be its own game, but they decided to add in to Runescape instead? I think they're secretly working on that this year, using the "upgrade year" as a disguise. An update big enough to be its own game? Holy hell in a handbasket! I hate to use the comparison, but just remember the construction update; people were complaining all month "omgwtf chairs to sit on? BORING MONTH JAGEX" then BAM right hook to the jaw, construction and player owned houses (and a massacre). I think players are going to be pleasantly surprised once the real reason for this upgrade year comes forward. Jagex usually has some ace up their sleeve, and it's all about waiting for them to reveal it.
  3. It would appear that I have nothing on you. Anyway: The updates were never meant to completely stop real world trading, which you will never stop, ever. The selling of accounts and powerleveling consolidates real world trading to just two options, both of which are somewhat easier to track (Based on IP's, etc) There hasn't been a mini-game since Pest Control overpowered combat training, at least that I'm aware of, that made leveling faster than doing the skill. Levels still do mean something, and how did adding in make-x options make the game faster? From what I've read, all of the skills that have been given make-x options became SLOWER than doing them manually. You're confusing number of clicks with difficulty, skills still take dedication to get to 99. Soul Wars gives slayer xp, yes, but when the idea of level 3's using it to get to 99 slayer, the idea was thrown out on the grounds that the xp the mini-game gives just isn't decent at all. It's like trying to spoil your dinner with M&M's. You're going to need a lot. And I remember when Rune used to be praised as the best armor in the game. Does that mean Dragon/Barrows/3rd Age/etc are an abomination because they took that away? No, it's called progress. All MMO's get tweaked and balanced the longer they're out, especially when they're trying to appeal to a wider audience. Yes, it pisses off older players when they see newer functionality being put into the game, but it pisses off someone like myself, who once paid all of my money (10 mil) to buy a whip, and then see them drop over the course of a couple years to less than a quarter of that. Prices fall the older an item has been available, skills will get new avenues to train and some of those will be faster than the current fastest method, etc. It's the circle of MMO life. Yea. I loved it when the Karamja Achievement Diary was released and, as rare as they are already, Gout Tubers were insanely priced and insanely hard to find because people were hoarding them and selling them for extortion prices. And then there were the inevitable cries when people who did hoard them couldn't sell them because, believe it or not, nobody wanted to pay their outlandish prices. As for GE Merching....Yea pretty much. You left out the requirement for a big clan to buyout a certain item. Not at all. I love me some CanadianSmurf, you actually bring some intelligent debate to the table. It's like you're bringing home Red Lobster whereas half of the other ranters on this board are bringing home Mcdonalds that they had left over from last year. Lord of the Rings Online is almost exclusively Player Vs Environment, and it's population has been growing since 2007. The only PvP that takes place is where players take control of level 60 monsters and fight high level players for control over various keeps, gaining renown (heroes killing creatures) and infamy (monsters killing heroes). LOTRO has been quite a successful MMO since it launched in 2007, gaining MMO of the year from Golden Joystick and Gamespy, as well as netting Turbine developer of the year, and expansion of the year.
  4. Going off of that topic; G.I Joe's been released in theaters? *rushes off to the movies* But in all seriousness; You don't question Joe. If he wants an ad for his movie on Runescape, he'll damn well get his ad. What are you, some kind of Cobra supporter?

The only thing that irks me about pures is that some of them think they can demand amazing armor along the lines of Dragon and black d'hide, with a requirement of 1 defense, or that ____ section of the game should be dramatically altered because it gives defense exp. All because one time Jagex released...I think it was when blessed dragonhide was released, that was bugged with no defense requirement.

Cool story bro. But if you didn't care about what people thought about you going for a fletching cape, you wouldn't be whining about it, and wouldn't have invested what little time it took to write this thread. You'd be fletching. You're completely right that it's none of their business, but this issue of skill-cape bashing has been discussed to death.
  7. Someone needs to learn what a hypocrite is. Why is it "infuriating" that Jagex used the same game concepts as other games? And Worms didn't invent the turn-based 2-d aim and fire strategy game, and Advance Wars didn't invent its genre either. As for the quests; There is no such thing as an original thought.
  8. They won't be, and for a simple reason; There's no way they could prove it.
  9. Stop capitalizing every word, it's obnoxious.

It might be the first of several updates to Runescape's security features. In Mod Mark Gerhard's first interviews, he said his first plan of action was to have a lot of the features that made runescape "kiddy" axed, and the Stronghold of Security is one of those. The Stronghold of Security is unnecessary. People generally get their account hijacked through a combination of being too dense (omg you can't say your password backwords! ******* see?) or too greedy (Look, I can give you lots of free stuff, my dad is Andrew Runescape, gimme passwerd), and the strongholds aren't going to suddenly teach anyone about the dangers of the interwebs.
  11. DON'T TURN THIS THREAD INTO A RELIGION DISCUSSION Every topic online is bound to start a flame war as the instant someone voices an opinion, all of the idiots come out of the woodwork to fire off every talking point they have in their belt. Religion just happens to have a lot of idiots, on all sides, and is a subject matter that is so personal that its flammability is literally off the charts. There's a time and place for religious debate. Runescape isn't that place. And I'll reiterate for effect: DON'T TURN THIS THREAD INTO A RELIGION DISCUSSION
  12. I find it incredibly difficult to believe your equipment came 100% through drops and smithing it.
  13. The topic being that the blog is a satire, and obviously fake. Thanks for playing. Have a consolation present.

  15. Mr T hacked the game and made his own class. The Night Elf Mohawk. MAYBE MR T IS HANDY WITH COMPUTERS! DID YOU EVER THINK ABOUT THAT?
  16. That's no baby, baby! It's a MAN!
  17. I'll be partaking in both Q&A's. I want to ask about Runescape Classic, when the open server will launch, and when us active rsc'ers will be getting that delicious exclusive cape.

  19. It could be like in Star Trek, where Q mates by briefly touching fingers with another Q. Hot.
  20. Noob: Yo check out mah st0ff OP: Whenever someone makes a thread like this, they are more likely to make themselves into more of an [wagon] than the person they're trying to point out. The other guy was, as far as I can tell, strutting his stuff like his [bleep] don't stank, but you still acted like a 10 year old and coerced him into the argument. You both fail; him for not keeping his cool, and you for thinking you'd be an internet tough guy and get the lulz by pissing someone off and posting the chat transcript on Tip.It.

I love mobilising airheads. They make the game so much easier.
  22. Hate to see you go, DarkDude. That's Jagex and PvP for ya. ....I call dibs on the Administrator slot!
  23. Exactly.
  24. Ew.

Go back to the RSOF with your trolling. Animation updates = Great prospects for future animation packs.
  25. It's Jagex teasing you. Like in My Arm's Big Adventure when you see the player getting cooked, and he has a bunch of dragon armor, a whip, party hats, etc, on the floor, and the chef says he threw all the stuff out.
