Really? I don't mean to be picky but I didn't think that was the case anymore. As far as I know there are seven countries with nuclear weapons, the US, Russia, the UK, France, China, India, Pakistan and North Korea. Out of those i'd say only the first 5 have the capabilities to deliver them over a long enough range to target countries on a global scale (ICBMs and submarines with ballistic capabilities). And ironically they're the five permanent members of the UN security council. I know that doesn't mean anything but I thought since the cold war countries only had nuclear weapons delivery strategies developed to attack their "allies" in a theoretical sense. I could be wrong but it's just what I thought.
  2. I think you're wrong and you're making excuses for the luxaries you've become used to. Are you sayaing that when you see a wooden desk you don't KNOW that a tree was chopped down to create this desk? If you don't know that, you're just silly. If I supported mass production by buying a leather belt, certainly I KNOW that leather comes from cows. If you don't know that and you are buying the belt, you are irresponsible, but that's no excuse. Either killing for luxaries is wrong or it isn't. You can't say some luxaries are okay and some aren't just because its convinient for you to not by ivory or tiger skins. I see your point here, sorry I didn't make mine clear enough. Personally I don't have a problem with chopping trees down for wood, as long as it is done in a way that preserves the rainforests to the greatest extent possible. When I buy my desk I don't know if the wood has come from a company that does this or not. It's a risk I take, I just morally hope I get the right one. That however is a different issue from tiger and elephant poaching etc. Tigers are now becoming an endangered species, they've never really been hunted responsibly, same with most big game. Therefore when you buy a tiger rug you know that the rug could of come from a mother tiger, possibly with cubs. Animals may not have total rights, and I don't have a problem with my leather belt coming from a cow, because I know cows are farmed, not killed recklessly. But we have a moral responsibility as the dominant species to try and maintain the natural ecosystem and not hunt species to extinction for rugs which could just as easily be made from wool.
  3. Varrock easily, the original hub of Runescape.
  4. I'm pretty sure this is good ol' Jagex humour. :D
  5. This game is plenty old fashioned enough for me, sure there are some elements that are maybe a bit more modern, but they just make it interesting.
  6. I think i'd add The Good The Bad And The Ugly to my original list now.
  7. So I assume you only have exactly enough clothes you need to survive (one pair) and that you don't support the mass making of cotton t-shirts and other types of clothing that living things have to be killed in order to be produced. Please tell me what qualifies as "survival" because I'm certain the computer you are currently using isn't a part of survival. And I can guarantee that I can trace you being able to use your computer back to the killing of something that was alive. Are you willing to give up ALL luxaries in order to spare killing anything that is alive, because luxaries are not needed for survival? I think there's a different level though between buying nice clothes and inadvertantly supporting mass production; and actively supporting the ivory trade or buying a tiger fur etc. It's hard to campain and fight against what we can't see, i.e. the side affects of what we buy and then end up putting money into, but I don't think buying an ivory carved ornament is not necessary when you KNOW that the elephant has been poached. I think the greatest problem is not in fact the animals we see on land, but the desecration of the oceans. The destruction of the coral reefs through chemicals, and overfishing of species like cod and haddock and tuna. The fact that 90% of a catch is thrown away as waste, usually dead. That's where we need to campaign for change, because although i'm not getting sentimental about each fish in particular, it's important that we maintain the environment with enough fish for our needs. This at the moment though is severely imbalanced.
  8. Bubsa - "And here I am in the Suzuki Grand Vitara, quite possibly the slowest car................in the world" "Moooove you stoopid caravan!!! Argh!!" Ahh I can see it now...the hair begins to curl, the jeans begin to tighten...:P
  9. If you're doing it in a DB9 as well i'd be very impressed :P Probably not though... Replace DB9 with, say...Suzuki Gran Vitara...and you got it! >.< Ahh could be worse though. Still will probably be great fun, are you racing just any random train that you've picked or do you some mates with a home video camera doing a Richard Hammon impression? :P
  10. Yeah I realised shortly after posting
  11. It's pretty good actually, it just gets a bit confused when I type in something like Red Hot Chili Peppers, since their styles have varied vastly over the years. Handy though for discovering stuff which you might not of ordinarily given a look.
  12. I can't believe what you're saying. You're saying that because we borrowed the inspiration and basic theories from some organisms to do various things that they're superior races? Birds gave us the inspiration to fly but do your aeroplane's wings flap up and down when you're flying? Of course not, birds and humans both use the same laws of physics to their advantage. On the same note which animal gave Einstein the inspiration to develop a theory a general relativity? Which other species inspired us to make computers? Of course we've borrowed some ideas from other species', that's what any superior race would do. The sheer fact that we're all talking about this kind of thing puts us at the top of the pile, other animals would be too busy evolving, we just adapt our environment to suit our needs.
  13. It shouldn't always be torture if it's done correctly, the principle is fine but I agree sometimes it is probably carried out badly. It's different though from a bully beating up someone for lunch money, the bully probably doesn't need that money so badly; but our development of anti-biotics and medicines is important for our survival as a species. I don't agree with cosmetic animal testing, but if we could develop cures and antibiotics through testing on other species then i'm all for it, if it's done properly and the animals aren't needlessly harmed.
  14. It isn't as simple as just wanting to feed the family, given the opportunity I would go hunting for game not because it is fun, but because it tastes really good and it often hard to find. Out of all the people I know who have hunted, they do it because they like eating game. They don't go out to kill for fun then just eat it because they feel morally bound to, they kill to get their hands on some really tasty meat that they can't find in shops. I don't know about supply of this sort of thing in other parts of the world, though. Where I'm from, if you want pheasant, partridge, quail, rabbit etc. you have to go find it yourself (or get a poacher to find it). That's an interesting matter of taste. Personally i'd prefer a steak anyday to pheasant or partridge, duck are more easily farmed. Fair enough if you really want that meat, it's just never a meat that I would choose over a steak or joint of beef.
  15. Flightplan A very good thriller, surprising twists throughout with clever acting and use of lighting etc. to make us think different things throughout.
  16. you could easily understand what was going on by just watching it. but why not watch the others too :P ? if you like westerns they are great, if you dont (like me) they are about the only westerns youll like (once upon a time in the west, and a few others are good) I wouldn't bet on seeing the other two at Blockbuster. Maybe I'll watch good bad and ugly then see about getting the other two. Anyways, this week I have "Capote" (in a few mins) and then mid-next week is "Following". Originally I watched The Good The Bad And The Ugly first before buying them all. They're only a trilogy in the sense that the main character is the same, there's no storyline running through all three. If you had to choose one i'd go with The Good The And The Ugly
  17. "Turn every problem into an opportunity" - Lance Armstrong, it's a quote I try to live by. Problems are only problems if you view them like that. Use every "problem" as an opportunity to make your life even better.
  18. I'm not a vegetarian and never will be. The only convincing argument i see for vegetarianism is the ineffectivness of energy transfer from crops to meat, but we're not at a stage where that is a crucial issue. Humans have evolved to eat meat and I see no reason why as the dominant species we shouldn't be able to use animals for food. I think animals have rights up to a point. I used to go along on a game shoot now and again, but now i've realised I disagree with the idea of it. Not because i have a problem with killing animals, but because of the mentality of it. The fact that people are going out there killing for fun is what i have a problem with. I don't care whether or not they eat the product, they don't go out shooting to feed their family nowadays. I believe in animal testings for medicine if it is done correctly. Human life should always take precedance over the life of an animal, it's our right as the dominant species. I don't agree with unnecessary animal suffering (bear baiting, [rooster] fighting etc.)
  19. If you're doing it in a DB9 as well i'd be very impressed :P Probably not though...
  20. I find it funny how most teenagers want to be heavier and stronger, even if it means being a bit bulkier, then when they become adults then just want to lose weight :P If you're 14 it sounds like you've just a fast metabolism, which is actually a good thing to have. You'll fill out, don't worry about it.
  21. How old are you? Try some healthy snacks (raisins etc.) You're not drastically underweight though by the sounds of it though, so i wouldn't worry too much about gaining those extra few pounds.
  22. Double EDIT: Found it  Cheers
  23. That was fantastic, much better than the other electric guitar version i've heard.
  24. I recently downloaded off Google Video a video of a guy playing (http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=435476) Canon on the electric guitarfor my iTunes. It's great, but i don't have a video iPod and i was wondering if there was anyway i could convert it into an MP3 file (or audio file)for free. I've looked around on Google but can't seem to find anything. It's currently in MPEG4 Format but i could download it for Windows Media Player or Sony PSP. Any help would be great.
