  1. Powerful movies? The Shawshank Redemption, probably my favourite film of all time, brilliant. The Green Mile, another of my favourite films, which many people claim to have one of the saddest endings of all time, and although i agree, i felt there was some positive note at the end. Gladiator, the soundtrack probably tipped this film into the category of "powerful", along with brilliant cinematics. Platoon, depressing, but powerful. The Deer Hunter. The Godfather, maybe not so much but brilliant acting on all fronts, especially from Marlon Brando made it towards the end.
  2. Thank you :) I haven't actually seen that movie, but i've heard it was suitably surreal. My old art teacher insisted on showing us Yellow Submarine, which was quite bizarre, to say the least. :P

  5. Bob Dylan and John Lennon
  6. There's a very small drum solo at the end of Spirit by the Caesars which is pretty amazing. Also on the The Who Live At the Albert Hall DVD there's a nice drum intro into the ending section of Won't Get Fooled Again.
  7. Imagine - John Lennon Children (Dream Version) - Robert Miles Shadowland - The Lion King Musical (Don't Fear) The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult Born Slippy - Underworld Kingdom Come - Coldplay A Horse With No Name - America More Than A Feeling - Boston
  8. R.I.P. but, an even scarier thought would be to post all the names of the some 300,000 people that died on Boxing day 2004.
  9. Exams are the bane of my existence, it's not that i'm bad at them (far from it), it's just the whole revision and pressure thing is horrible, there's more to life than exams but they seem so important. I need to learn not to care so much :P Apart from that school is great, the facilities are great I have wonderful teachers and some great friends, but everything seems to be about exams nowadays instead of learning for the sake of learning and wonder.
  10. My top 5 most played according to iTunes... 1. Can't Stop - Red Hot Chili Peppers 2. The Zephyr Song - Red Hot Chili Peppers 3. Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley 4. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin 5. (Don't Fear) The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
  11. Wondering about why we can't see the extra dimensions is like living in a rich area and wondering why you don't see any poor people.
  12. that sounds like string theory Indeed it is, string theory allows for about 20 dimensions, but we cannot experience or see them because we could not live in a universe if the other dimensions aside from the four we know are flat, because the conditions would not be right and atoms would self-destruct. Space is time because space and time are interconnected, time is not continous and unchanging, it varies in different gravitational fields. According to general relativity we could never reach the speed of light, since as we approach is we would need more and more energy, and since we have mass according to e=mc^2 the amount of energy is infinite, which is an impossible irregularity for us in an expanding universe. If we could however, we could facilitate time travel, but the only way of really doing this would be through wormholes, which are only possible with the negative energy density that quantum mechanics talks about. According to relativity it's not possible but now we know that quantum mechanics could allow this as long as there was an overall positive energy density. [/incoherrant ramble] The slight problem with this is that there is no such thing as an absolute time, so the point at which it is frozen cannot be defined with a given value that everyone can accept. Sorry it's a naggling little point that is probably irrelevant to your good explanation, but i just thought i could bring some Einstein in Interesting stuff really, i wish i'd seen this topic earlier. :P
  13. In my opinion there can never be a "greatest song ever" That's why I love music, it's do diverse that their might be a 1000 greatest songs, but each one is specific to a mood or time. I don't think any group of people could ever entirely sit down and say, "that there is the greatest song ever, nothing is as good" because it's down to taste and mood. I believe every song has it's own place somewhere in life, some people might visit these places more often than others so they might prefer that type of music. My music taste is too varied to bring in a "greatest song" because quite simply it would blow my brain apart choosing between songs that i love equally. To put it simply the term "greatest song" is irrelevant and undermines what music stands for, diversity and self-expression.
  14. Right, i've refined my list to 5: Marlon Brando Morgan Freeman Tom Hanks Dustin Hoffman Robin Williams
  15. I don't care what people say to be-little them, iPod's rock, mine is beautiful and I love it. That's all i care about I don't care how good everyone else says Zen's are, I couldn't ask for a better MP3 player. End of stoweee :P Seriously guys, Ricky Gervais podcast, try it!
  16. In my opinion the only podcast worth getting is Ricky Gervais', that thing is hilarious
  17. What's so special about training your skills as shinobi? It's the same thing every day ... ahh...that you are wrong. playing and drinking will get you no where. you must always be on your senses, expecting the worst situation from every second you live. BAM, one second you could be dead. How to prevent that? Easy. train. Train until you know that walking outside the door will probably get you killed. Train until you know that hiding inside your house will make you an idle target for missiles. Train until you know how to avoid both dangers at once. Btw santa might just give me a present, or he will be me present as my moving target for shuriken practice. I hope he runs fast since he is probably in shape from climbing in and out of those roofs. Merry christmas and an early new years! You sound a little paranoid and self-massacistic. Life's for the living! As long as you enjoy it! Personally i'm going to Cornwall with my parents and some of their friends. We're going to the same place we always go to so i know quite a few people down there and since it's such a small village it should be very fun.
  18. Well it's been a fantastic Christmas this year. I got... An I-station dock thing for my iPod. From Russia With Love for the PS2 John Peel's Autobiography A Briefer History of Time David Attenborough's Autobiography Two John Lennon CD's, The Collection and Working Class Hero The Godfather DVD collection Some Ferrari aftershave ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã80 cash Lots of chocolate, and... My mum's bought me, her and my dad a 5 day trip to New York in February  I can't waitt!! :D I'm too lucky
  19. Well it's nearly Christmas and I still haven't posted my thoughts. I used to get up really early and wake the rest of the family up. Now i'm a teenager so i'm less inclined to do that but i've always been an early riser so if I wake up after 2am in the morning I probably won't get to sleep. I'll have to wake my sisters up, which i'm sure they'll love :P I carefully open my presents one by one, i like to appreciate the wrapping  Can't wait! :D
  20. My old geography teacher played lacrosse for England, he showed us a video of it and it looked unbelievably physical, makes rugby look like football :P I tried on all his gear as well, i don't know what his setup was but it was pretty cool. :)
  21. Normally I do about 1 push-up every other Sunday, I might do 2 sets. Sometimes I do 2 if I really push myself. :D I'm joking, 50-80 if i can be arsed
  22. A great read, just one tinsy tiny mistake which I only mention because i'm such a finickity scrooge and like to see you squirm :P. There are 9 new holiday items, all the hats and scarves + the new puppet . I don't mean to patronize but i thought i'd just mention it. I'm sure nobody else will notice it though, an excellent read nonetheless!
  23. Where's the magic gone :(
  24. Make my peace with my friends and family, and spend the rest of the time with the girl i love.
  25. If this happened I could see all the merchants looking for high window ledges... :P It probably won't happen, like Bubsa said, not because it's a bad idea but because the rise and fall of the economy is what keeps many people attracted. And what if the prices were set during a high period or phase?
