  1. This looks very interesting, and I'd like to give some of them a go. But what kind of programming skills do you need? I have pretty much none, what could I learn that'd get me started with that?
  2. I could move this to the correct forum, but if I'm honest since there is almost no demand for smithers of your level I can't see there being much point. You can try again if you want in the correct forum, but I think you're wasting your time offering these kind of services. Locked.
  3. Money - Pink Floyd Haven't listened to The Floyd in ages.
  4. 1979 - The Smashing Pumpkins
  5. Eat healthier and eat more often. Plenty of high-quality carbohydrates. You could try and add muscle mass by lifting weights coupled with a high protein diet. Ease off low-intensity fat burning cardio, but don't neglect your heart and health. Instead do hill-sprint training.
  6. Traumerei, Kindserszenen No.7, Dreaming - Schumann
  7. Oh absolutely, he means many things to many different people. I was just drawing on one example, which in my mind alone would make this day go down in history.
  8. Time isn't a constant. There is no universal time. In saying that, you implicitly accept that the existence of time itself is a constant. It's meaningless to say that something is a constant through existence, when that thing in itself is not a constant. In fact it's just erroneous, since we haven't established the existence of time. I was referring to time being a constant, which is a false statement. If you want to say that the existence of time is a constant you need to establish that time exists. I can't see how that can be done.
  9. I don't think we should look past his skin colour, to do so would be denying the pride millions of African-Americans have for him. Yes, in a perfect world it shouldn't be an issue. But life isn't perfect, and so we need to look at this man for what he represents, which is a huge step forward for black people.
  10. I find it hard to believe that they were all said by kids. Some of them are far too cynical or laden with a dry wit to come from someone that age.
  11. Personally, I find it fascinating and incredible. Judging by the crowds gathering and the responses of many people who were otherwise disillusioned for years by the American government, I think he's got a lot of people behind him. It's also a hugely momentous day in history, so a little hype can be forgiven. If you're "annoyed" by a few too many media stories then you don't have to watch them. But your annoyance is meaningless compared to the suffering of millions of African-Americans throughout history who have finally managed to elect one of their own to the highest office in the world. I find it staggering that your complacence would deny this moment from the media for any other story.

  13. Cambridge also ask for the marks you got in individual modules, (nearly) everyone has A's who's applying so they like to see 90%+ averages to help them further differentiate. It is also about a passion for your subject, which they can assess through your personal statement and reference and an ability to think laterally under pressure which they assess at interview. It's very hard to make predictions about who would get in purely based on marks.
  14. Shakespeare was an unparalelled genius. When I read him I'm frequently stunned by the brilliance of his writing. I only really studied Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet at school. I preferred Romeo & Juliet but then we probably did it in more detail. I've also read Hamlet, and seen productions of The Tempest, Twelfth Night and The Merchant of Venice. I think it's perhaps a shame that he's often forced on school children who are then put off him for life. His plays were meant to be performed. Yes they're interesting to study but there's no substitute to seeing them live. His influence on the English language can never be exaggerated.

I love walking, often when I'm feeling stressed/tired or ill a quick half hour walk listening to a podcast or some music really clears my head. I also like longer walks, one of my happiest school memories was doing the three peaks (25 miles) with a group of friends.

  19. Is this a trick question? Of course it's bad.
  20. My Mission Impossible boxset came today, all three films for £6. Can't argue with that price. Good silly entertainment as well.
  21. The Air Near My Fingers - The White Stripes
  22. The Higgs Boson is just one of many other fundamental particles that exist. It's not more fundamental than any of the others, it just plays a different role.
  23. Play That Funky Music - Wild Cherry
  24. I see no reason why God is proven to be unprovable. I agree it's probable that there will never be a proof of his existence/non-existence, but I certainly wasn't aware of a proof to that effect. I'm not even sure what that would look like. Whether or not the Bible says God is unprovable (which I don't remember, it would seem counter to common experience since Christians have been using different arguments for God's existence for centuries (design etc.)) doesn't matter because the Bible doesn't constitute a proof. Your assumption is a logical fallacy whether you think it should be or not. How can we say something exists without proof/evidence? I can't think of any examples, but I might be missing something.
