The Official LOL Thread.
Yeah, this kind of thing has been tried in the past and sadly a lot of people didn't have the maturity to resist posting offensive and inappropriate pictures. Sorry, I know it's a nice idea, but it doesn't seem to work. Locked.

NEW iPODS RELEASED TODAY 9/5
I'm pretty sure iTunes doesn't have Beatles tracks for the same reason they don't have AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, ect. It's because those bands don't want their music to be available online, in other words they want to stay old-school :P No. The Beatles' record company was also named Apple. Apple and Apple got into a conflict and therefore Apple didn't release any of Apple's Beatles CD's. Something like that. Don't quote me on that one. :uhh: Yeah but it was in the news that the two Apples have resolved their legal differences, and Apple are now working towards releasing The Beatles songs on iTunes, it's been in the pipeline for a while now tbh. Paul McCartney and John Lennon's individual stuff is already on there.

Is it really a problem? (MP3 piracy)
When did I say it was okay to record songs off the radio? Even if I did say it was okay, it's a false analogy. Artists choose to release songs onto radio airwaves; they don't choose to release their songs onto internet servers... But artists don't choose to release their songs onto the radio to have them copied. It's still taking the place of a bought CD if you copy all your music off the radio, no? So the analogy still works, and highlights the problem with a blanket statement like yours. What's the problem with the blanket statement that I made? Secondly, what is the blanket statement that I made? Thirdly, I don't agree with the logic you used to attempt to piece back together BlueLancer's analogy. What kind of radio station plays all the songs from an album? Usually an album has just one single on the radio. These are songs that the artists put on their myspace accounts and such because they want that song out there to promote the album. The problem begins when people use the internet to steal the entire album and defeat the purpose of the artist's single radio song. Although you didn't make a blanket statement, you implied that every form of music copying, be it borrowing a friend's CD, recording stuff off the radio or downloading music was morally equivalent and equally wrong. Which I disagree with. Granted, most radio stations don't play an album all the way through, but some certainly do, especially if it's an eagerly anticipated album they might have an "exclusive playing", with breaks yeah, but it's been done. I said the analogy works because copying a song/single off a radio still in effect "replaces" the purchase of that physical single in a shop, which still counts as sales.

Where do you want to go?
Rome, never been and my parents love it there. The food, the architecture, the history, yeah. Definite city break. Thailand and Canada are supposed to be very beautiful in their own way, and i'd like to visit Australia as well.

Bullies!?
If you can't clean up your own mess, don't bother fighting imo. You go ahead and fight to win, I'll keep my dignity. You're obviously lucky enough to only be able to fight where and when you want to if you want to keep "your dignity". And if you're fights revolve around your dignity you probably shouldn't be having them, i.e. they're not necessary.

AHH Don't kill me!!!!! (But Summoning?)
To be honest, I don't think this belongs in Bugs and Suggestions at all, so this is probably the best place for this discussion.

My issues with Athiests.
Well done for being completely ignorant of the founding American principle of Church-State seperation, as well as hundreds of years of scientific research and fact.

God mode moments.
Broken Boy Soldiers - The Raconteurs About 2:49 in Jack White sings into some sort of microphone, maybe a copper or bullit mike or something, not sure, and it just sounds amazing. It's hard to describe though. Yeah, I've found god.

Evolution in public schools
It's not ignorant, it's arrogant. And yes, what he did was stupid and what he says in that post is ignorant. I don't care if I'm being blunt, but warri0r's got the basic good-hearted explanation down, so I'm telling this kid the truth. I don't care if I appear arrogant for not thinking that Creationism has any scientific value, but this kid's gotta realize that there's a world beyond Christianity. Evolution is a fact and a theory, and as warri0r stated, there's no debating it's validity. Get out of your little hole, see a little light, and try and open your worldview. Before you choose to reject something, try and actually understand it first. As for my statement about suspension, to walk out on science class when the teacher starts on evolution just because the little kid doesn't even understand the topic deserves at least a weeks detention. That's skipping out on class, at the very least. You're right, it's supreme arrogance nurtured from a religious upbringing. Poor teacher, must be hard dealing with kids who are so close-minded.

It's been a bad month for dogs :(
Sorry to hear about your dogs. I don't really have any stories like that, except my old dog (she died a few years ago now) was once jumped on by two other dogs when she was quite old and it kind of crippled her back. And the owner of the two dogs was effectively my sisters boss, and an arrogant thing, so we couldn't really do much about it. She never was quite the same, although she seemed happy enough. She actually lived to 15, which is quite old for a labrador, before we had to put her to sleep.

Is it really a problem? (MP3 piracy)
Very similar to how I feel as well. The RIAA need to pull their finger out and wise-up to the new generation of music consumers. They can't seem to grasp that suing people left right and centre for downloading music does nothing for their image and indeed nothing for the music. Even buying stuff online is too much, they could easily cut the price of a song down to about 10p each and I would buy absolutely all my music. Because a quid here and there isn't much to me. But ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã10 for an album you're not too sure about? Too much for me. Statistics have shown that people who download music often go out and buy CD's, in a twisted way internet piracy is helping CD sales. I buy a lot of CD's, I love buying them, but sometimes it's nice just to be able to have a good listen to what you're going to buy before diving in. I love supporting new artists who I feel want the official sales and money, but think about it, do The Beatles or other massive bands really need to give a monkeys? Besides, the artists are hardly complaining, it's the bigwig executives who want more money lining their pockets.

NEW iPODS RELEASED TODAY 9/5
I looked into iPod rumours the other day, because last time I bought an iPod for my birthday they brought out the video one the next week  Anyway, as far as I could tell it looked like a new iPod wouldn't be released until April time, although I suppose releasing it for Christmas makes more sense if it's ready.

This annoys me about my friend, I can't stand him sometimes
He doesn't sound like much of a mate to me. Just tell it to him straight, tell him he needs to stop being such a freeloader and to buy it himself. If he calls you a "bad friend" for not letting him hang around your house all day he ain't the bad friend.

School schedule and class discussion for 2007-08!
I understand nothing about the American/Canadian/Australian system, so for any Brits i'm going into 6th form (year 12) this year, not sure what that is equivalent to. Meh. Maths Further Maths Physics Chemistry Economics I've no idea what my actual schedule will be until I get back to school, it's different every day for a two week cycle. I think I get about 1 free every two week cycle (meep) and i'm doing sport as well each week every wednesday afternoon.

Is Tip.it harder to quit than Runescape itself?
TIF was the first forum where I ever felt "at home" (strange as that may sound), and there's a pretty good community going on in Off-Topic. For me, TIF hasn't been about Rs for a long time.
