Slayer is a great way to train your melee stats for slayer. Then when you have the stats you want, you can start slaying, and you'll have a head start!

Goraks are quite tricky. I'm not sure how feesable it is, but you may be able to go to gwd and have help killing them form other monsters? I've killed a few with bandos and a bunyip..was kinda scary cuz they do hit hard, and often but it worked out ok.
