Playing with fire
I have juggled lit torches before without hurting myself or anyone else. As soon as the weather improves I will again. :D I was going to post pics of myself juggling fire, but Sepiroth's pic pretty much trumps anything I could come up with. :( I haven't tried juggling at night yet. Other than that, my bro and I once busted open a model rocket engine, put the fuel in a piece of tissue, made a little town out of paper, then lit the whole thing off. We waited for a minute and a half and nothing happened, until really suddenly everything was gone except some ash on the asphalt. Pretty cool 8-)

Help me plot real life revenge!
Fight fire with fire. Put an entire roll of duct tape over his door so he can't get out (yeah it's a fire hazard but that's what windows are for), then set up some speakers just outside his door and blast some music you know he'll hate. Just make sure that your speakers are strong enough to overpower his. He'll either give in or go deaf.

Common Questions Parents ask...
Dont how this could be a problem, as long as you abide by the law, your fine. ...and therein lies the problem  Any decent parents aren't going to interrogate you or anything. If they do give you tough questions, just give vague, mostly honest answers. Best advice I can give you, though, is to not worry about it. This isn't a competition or a test. You're just trying to get to know people better. If you're comfortable with who you are, you should have no issue presenting yourself to others, no matter how intimidating they are.

Best Book I've Ever Read
I don't know what my "All Time Favorite Book" is, but the book that was and is most moving to me is All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque. It's fiction about a soldier in World War I, but it's also kind of autobiographical because the author was in WWI so he knows what he's talking about. Extremely powerful story. Some people find it pretty depressing, but there's so much truth in it that for me it's almost an uplifting experience to read it. I saw the movie "The Power of One" before I read the book, so when I read the book I had all these expectations and it wasn't as good as I'd hoped. Probably if I had read the book first, I would have liked the book more and been disappointed by the movie. :? Good story either way  1984 was good and it made me think, but I wouldn't really call it a favorite. Same with Brave New World. Both have some pretty deep philosophical/political ideas in them, but as stories they're nothing special. For science fiction, nothing beats Ender's Game. Unless it's Ender's Shadow  . For fantasy, probably my favorite book was Terry Goodkind's Wizard's First Rule. It's the first in a huge series, and the series is pretty good too. That first book is incredible, though.

Finally, the way James Bond was meant to be seen...
Probably should be in movies/music board  I'm actually not sure about this trailer. Ever since I heard that they had selected a less well-known actor for the role, I've been thinking that maybe this one will be really well done, but I thought they were going to dye his hair :? . And that's a pretty sketchy face he's making at the very end there. He doesn't seem to fit the role of Bond in this trailer. Other than that, looks good. I'm definitely going to see it. Hopefully it won't be a flop. EDIT: Ooh, everybody notice those parcour scenes? Looks pretty sweet. 8)

RIP Joey (1989-2006)
I'm not sure what I can say via the internet, but I am sorry for Joey and for you. I am sorry for Joey and for you. It sucks to be taken by something so unexpectedly, while still so young. Life is horrible that way, but I hope Joey enjoyed his life while he was alive. And I hope you can continue to enjoy your own without forgetting him. Feel free to ask us for advice, or just talk about whatever you need to. We can listen.

United 93 - Discussion about it...
If I see it, and I hope I do, I will treat it as a dramatic film like any other. The fact that it is real simply makes it that much more powerful. If one of my loved ones had died on Sept 11th, that would also make it more powerful, and I would be glad for the chance to further understand the tragedy and my own emotions in relation to it. Any dramatization is an exploration of emotion, and I would welcome whatever it could teach me about my feelings regarding the tragedy. Even if the movie tried to make a political statement (and you may know I'm a pretty loud liberal), I would not view it that way, I would view it purely as a story of bravery and loss. That is how I view all drama/theater/acting/film/etc., and from my point of view, it is never to early to make a movie. In fact, it may be society's obligation to make a piece like this as soon as possible to try and come to grips with the event. I can see the opposite viewpoint, though, and I have to say I can't really argue directly against it.

Acoustic Guitar
I'm not a snob about it, but I do think it is better to learn to read music. Tabs are just so limited. You can't really learn what a song is supposed to sound like just reading tabs. Sheet music, if you're really good at reading it (which takes a while to learn), can give you a really good sense of how the song sounds. Tabs are a shortcut. I don't look down on anyone for knowing just tabs, because they're really useful, and if you can listen to the song and learn it by ear anyway, it's not like you really need sheet music. Especially for a beginner. A really good musician generally needs to know how to read music, though.

Discrimination?
Yeah I understand what you're saying completely. I just think a different way than you I suppose. What I mean by that is you're a really positive thinking person... and I am.... well... not... :P. But hey, I try. Haha .... yeah I prefer the "innocent until proven guilty" attitude instead of... the other way around  I'm just a glass-is-half-full kind of guy, I guess

Discrimination?
It's discrimination or racism if you judge all blacks and hispanics by the ones at your school. But not if I judge the ones at my school? I think if you judge them as individuals, you cannot be accused of racism. Once you've looked at each person in your school as an individual, then an observation like "it's always the Hispanics that are skipping class" is simply a factual observation and not racist discrimination. However, I would try and avoid thoughts or comments like that, because once you make the mental link between an ethnicity and a fault, you will always be a little less sympathetic to someone of that ethnicity. If you want to be truly not racist, then you have to view the color of someone's skin in the same way that you view the color of their eyes. You might notice the color of someone's eyes, but it would never occur to you to judge them by it. You would never think to say "it's always those brown-eyed people who are bullying the little kids." Likewise, if you were truly not racist, it would never occur to you to say "it's always the blacks that are pushing people around." Unfortunately, it might be impossible to reach a state of mind like that. It's part of human nature to discriminate, and the best we can do is recognize this within ourselves and try and avoid it. We all have racism in us. It is our job to not let our racist thoughts become racist words or actions. I can't blame you for observing that many Hispanics cut class, but that's not an observation that should taint your thinking, words, or actions. It's an observation that you should recognize as discriminatory and try to ignore. Even if it is true. My words got away from me again. Can someone summarize what I was trying to say? EDIT: btw Barihawk, I think saying "racist redneck" is a lot better than just saying "redneck." Whoever wrote "racist redneck" understands that not all rednecks are racist, so they had to add that word "racist" in there as a qualifier. They're just being more specific, not categorizing all rednecks as racists. It is kind of an ironic phrase though

Discrimination?
^^Exactly. Unfortunately, that means that it makes perfect sense for airport security to be discriminatory. Who is more likely to bomb the plane, a white family of five, or a single twenty year old Arab? It makes perfect sense to discriminate and check the Arab passengers more closely, because statistically, that is where the danger is most likely to come from. The key is in understanding that the young Arab man is not a stereotype but a real human being, and once we have made sure he isn't going to bomb the plane, we must treat him with the same respect we treat any human being. I went to Japan recently, and when I got back, I made a comment to someone about how the Japanese are shorter than Americans. Someone said, "I thought that was a just stereotype." Well, yeah, it is a stereotype, and of course there are lots of exceptions. But in general, it's also true. While in Japan, I didn't see a single Japanese person taller than me.

Discrimination?
You can learn a lot about someone by the way they look. If you are trying to hire someone, do you go with the guy in a business suit or the twenty year old who looks like a stoner and wears dirty, torn jeans falling halfway down his butt? The correct answer is that it's not that simple - you should interview them and compare their merits in a fair and objective manner. This is the best way of judging them. But statistically, people in business suits are generally more reliable than people who look like stoners, and that has to enter into your decision. Yes, that is discrimination, but it is also a completely rational and reasonable way of judging the candidates for the job. That is not meant as a defense of racism. Just pointing out that sometimes the cover of a book can tell you a lot. Especially if you read the reviews on the back.

People Walking on All Four Limbs.. ?
Odd :? I kind of doubt that they will reveal anything special about evolution, though. In my proffessional opinion (*snort* ), they are probably not any accurate portrayal of humans as quadripeds, they just have random mutations. They are modern freaks.

Do you love the country you live in?
I live in England... do we actually have sexy accents? lol It's inexplicable, but American ladies just melt for a British accent. It's kind of a pain in the wagon sometimes. I'll be making progress on a girl, then all of a sudden some visiting Brit says cheerio and it's like I'm not even in the room anymore :| I think I've heard that it works the other way, though. Someday I'm going to England, and we'll see what happens when I start exploiting my suave yankee vocabulary 8)

Do you love the country you live in?
You sort of imply by that statement that it is not every non-American's God given right to love or hate their government :| it makes it seems that freedom of choice is American-exclusive. I don't think that he meant it that way :D We Americans are just proud that we guarantee this particular god-given right. I am proud to be an American. Always a critic, always a patriot. I love my country, and I wouldn't live anywhere else. Well, not permanently, anyway. I'd definitely like to take a year abroad if I could, though. Go to England and see if that whole sexy accent thing works going the other way across the Atlantic

Women's suffrage
Maybe that's why we have such horrible leaders! Educate yourself, and get involved. There's no excuse for ignorance! At least E_K has the courage to admit that he doesn't know what the word means, instead of trying to cover up by signing a petition that he doesn't understand  Maybe he shouldn't be ignorant, but at least he's honest! Also, 7th-8th graders... I don't really blame them for not knowing the term. I was a star student in those grades, and I didn't figure out what suffrage meant until 9th grade at least, probably 10th.
