"The Scene"
Although your point makes sense on the surface, I find it hard to agree with. For instance, I would agree that because I make fun of "non-conformists" I am conforming to my friends who do that same thing. The difference is, I don't think I'm a non-conformist for doing so! ... I have absolutely no problem with conforming because I know I do it all the time. Oh man....you were a step ahead of me the whole time :( Well I feel sheepish  I agree with that, but I guess I just don't find it as big a problem as other people do. I mean, we label scene kids posers, they label emo kids posers, and in the end we're all striking some sort of pose. We all conform, we're all basically the same, we're all human. Our own personal style can always be judged as an act by someone else. I just don't think we should condemn anyone for their own particular brand of conformity, whether they realize they're conforming or not. Oh well. Apologies for harsh words. Hugs all around. :D I wasn't tearing into you or anyone specifically, I just read the thread through and then commented on my overall sense of what people were saying. That goes for MyPurpleCrayon, too. I wasn't singling you out. I'm glad that coin came up heads, though

"The Scene"
I wear kilts. I like to play the tin whistle. I still live with my parents; we get along fine. I wear a derby cap unless it's raining, then I go with an orange cowboy hat. I don't drink or smoke, but I do enjoy licking nine-volt batteries to get a shock on my tongue. I listen to metallica and enjoy disco dancing. I go to all the local band's shows and throw rotten fruit. I do all this because it's what I really enjoy and it's really who I am as an individual, not because I'm trying to conform or anything. *Waits for someone to toss a coin and decide whether or not I'm cool.* Honestly, guys, who do you think you're kidding? We all try to fit in. Some of us are more individualistic and more sincere than others, but when it comes right down to it, humans are social, and we try to find our place in society. For some, this means posing as a scene kid. For others, this means looking within, finding qualities within us that we think will make us likeable, and defining ourselves by those qualities (thus creating an image of ourselves that we think others will like....AKA conformity). Conformity, non-conformity, conformity through non-conformity.... unless you're a hermit in the woods, it's all a method to fit in among other people. Example...on this forum, all the cool kids get together and condemn scene kids because they're conformers posing as non-conformers. But isn't that condemnation just a form of conformity? Of course it is. That doesn't make it a bad thing; like I said, we all conform to some extent. But for chrissake, recognize that who we are is constantly being defined by those around us. No man is an island. I was lying about the kilts, btw. But not the tin whistle

My 1st pixels
They look good to me...especially like the third one. Both the concept ( ) and the art is cool.

Psychedelic - Experiment
I love that you're breakin out and trying something different from everyone else, but I'm not sure I really like the result. :| It doesn't have.... a theme in it anywhere, except for the clash of color. I think it needs some suggestive form in there, even if it's completely abstract.

Brands. (clothes)
Are you kidding? Half the kids at my school wear exactly that, element, volcom, independent, and band shirts... That reminds me of that South Park episode. All the goth kids wanted to be non-conformist, so they all wore black clothes and all smoked cigarettes. Can't think of the exact quote, but Monty Python to the rescue Brian: You're all a bunch of singleminded conformists! Crowd: Are not! Single person in the crowd: I am! Oh man...so true...

Valentine Card
I dunno, man, all your stuff is starting to look the same to me :| I really liked your "roots of emotion" or whatever that last one with a tree growing out of a heart was called...that was a nice variation. But...maybe find a completely new theme? You're good at hearts, but you're rapidly finding the limits of their possibilties. Then again, I don't even have one graphics area I'm good at, so you don't necessarily have to respect my opinion :D

New Guitar!!
Attitude is half of performance 8) That doesn't mean it's half of music, but it is definitely half of performance

Rate : Signature(s)
Wow...those are all really cool. :D Compared to most of the ratings I see around this forum...10/10 on all of them. Now the real ratings: Number 3: 7/10. I love the color scheme, but it's a little too abstract for my taste, and the text is kind of boring. If you're not going to feature it, that's okay, but I think it needs more to it than just...simple white text. Oooh, I was going to rate and critique the rest, but someone just offered me oatmeal pancakes. See you later

Eminem
^^Plus it was an awesome performance. Elton John made a piano arrangement that really complemented eminem's words and rythm well. I've only heard the recording once or twice though :(

ancient magic pixel
 I can't believe it took us all this long to apply Goldeneye style death to Runescape media... Great idea, man, I love it :D Like someone said, put shading through the ice. Especially since, during the majority of the time in your animation the view is under ice, that view needs to be the best of the sig, really. I might make that stage quicker, also.

pixel av. i made
Yeah, picture how the moon is reflected on the ocean...it's a line, not a circle, because water's surface is not smooth like glass. Since you were going for shading specifically, I would say that the shading looks pretty good, except for where the lighter water fades into the darker. It looks strained to me. :? Not bad. Better than I could do.

State of the Union 2006
That depends on if you trust the government or not, and arguably the single most important principle of democracy in America, starting in 1776, is a healthy distrust of putting too much power in a centralized government. ...And with an opening like that, I think it's pretty obvious where I stand politically  But anyway. I am not a fan of Bush, but this speech was pretty good. He made some pretty blatant misdirections, such as his connection between Iraq and 9-11: Of course he avoids making an explicit connection so he has deniability later, but this is an obvious effort to help blame Saddam for 9-11 and further justify the war. Which is simply not true. Whether the war was justified or not, Saddam had nothing to do with 9-11. Also, he talks about increasing federal funding in a lot of areas, and tax cuts, and a plan to get rid of the deficit. I'm not entirely sure how all those fit together. And I don't know what to think of the line-item veto. Seems like too much power for the executive branch, to me. I think Id probably say the same to a Democratic president. But overall, I am sorta impressed. Naw, nevermind. I'm not. It's all just flowery words to me. I guess I'm glad I saw it first here instead of reading about it (from a liberal bias) in the Boston Globe tomorrow morning. At least here I began by giving it the benefit of the doubt. Parting shot: His so-called concession to environmental concerns is absolutely just lip service. He spends 3 paragraphs on it, compared to 6 or 7 or more on other issues. And hydrogen cars are already a failed technology. You have to put energy into the hydrogen before you can get any out (my understanding is that it takes energy to isolate the hydrogen, hydrogen cars then combine the isolated hydrogen with oxygen to form water, releasing that energy again, correct me if I'm wrong), and where do you think the original energy comes from? I'll give you a hint: it's not clean or environmentally friendly. Eh, I feel cynical. I'm going to bed.

Equilibrium vs. The Matrix
^Haha, yeah, that one needs some explaining, Bubsa. Anyway, The Matrix was better. Just...because. The fight sequences were better, the science fiction world was more alive and mystical, the acting was trash but the actors were good at looking good in black trenchcoats and sunglasses, so it didn't matter. 8) I liked Equilibrium, and Christian Bale is a better actor (although I'm not a huge fan of his style in Equilibrium and Batman) than Keanu Reeves. The story was good, there was a real message about freedom and oppression, and the fight sequences were good. But it was more sterile than the matrix, if that makes any sense. The world was so rigidly controlled by the oppressive government, the movie itself lost the emotion and passion it needed to equal or better the matrix. In conclusion: Equilibrium = Good Matrix = Awesome

Eminem
Yeah, Encore wasn't any good. Mockingbird was okay, as well as Toy Soldiers, but the rest was mainstream bathroom humor. Without a doubt, his earlier, emotional stuff is the best. My favorite might actually be "Rock Bottom" from the SSLP, but classics like "Lose Yourself" are awesome too. I like some of his older humor too, like in "Who Knew" from the MMLP. It's not stupid bathroom humor; it's actually witty and intelligent (albeit angry and dirty) commentary on how his edgy attitude is received. As for him "stealing" music (like in Stan and Sing For the Moment), I don't mind that. The genius is in the re-production. He doesn't just take a great song and buy it for himself, he changes the beat and the production around it so that he really brings something new to it. I heard 'Sing for the Moment' before Aerosmith's 'Dream On,' and I've always thought Eminem's version was better. Just because of the new beat and instrumentation under the vocals, and his shouts after each line ("Sing with me, *SING!* sing for the years, *SING!* sing for the laughter, sing for the tears *CMON!!*), it's stronger, more desperate. Plus his rhymes are insanely good. Period.

Kids at school using the word noob.
The only internet speak I ever use irl is 'owned,' and I don't think of it as an internet term. As for my school, they're all preppies, so they may say 'o-m-g' or occaisionally 'l-o-l' as a joke, but if anyone actually started using words like 'noob' and 'pwned' regularly, they would be labeled as nerds and social outcasts and get run up the flagpole by angry jocks. I actually think that saying internet slang in real life is pretty stupid. Quoting from the internet (like "dubbleyoo-tee-eff, mate" ) can be okay, but I think using that slang as a normal mode of communicating makes people sound stupid, pretentious, and kind of pathetic. It makes me think of nine year olds with braces getting in a serious spray fight on counterstrike. Pathetic.

What do I do rofl - girls want me :$
11th graders shouldn't fool around with 9th graders. Tell her you like her and respect her and all that, but you don't think it's right for older guys to go out with younger girls. I don't think there's much point in coming up with some other excuse. You'd just confuse the issue or hurt her feelings or something.

A wild day in the NBA
Kinda the truth... Anyhow, 152-149....WOW. How many overtimes? And I didn't know scoreboards went that high. i think it was like 3. But i looked it up, Pistons got the most points in a game as a team before. it was like 182 or something. But i can't belive pistons did it. they're like a blue collar defensive team. But yea 81 points is ok. but i do it every time i play so i don't care. I'm just about closing in on 81 points for my life-long tally. So I'd say I'm on par with Kobe

Pixel...err...something... (Not finished)
The dress is the best; like other people have said, her skin, especially her face, is too uniform. It needs shadows and a wider range of shading to make it as good as the dress. But overall, that's incredible work. I don't know anything about pixelling (or drawing  ), but that looks awesome.

favorite country music songs and singers
Dixie Chicks? They're country, right? I like their album "Home." :) I'm not real familiar with the genre, sorry :? I thought he was more 'Indie' than 'Country.' But then again, I'm not the man to ask on either genre, so... don't trust me

What would you best compare good Music with?
A good roller coaster is like a good song. The first time you hear it, you're not sure what to expect, and it can seem kind of hard to follow or appreciate it. By the second ride/listening, you're familiar with it enough to appreciate the changes, to enjoy the seperate parts to it. Eventually, you start anticipating your favorite places/sections and just appreciate the ride. And they both get old through overuse.

Would you have done this...?
It could easily be true...to stop restaurant/fast food owners from being racist and just denying service to all *insert minority group*. I don't know if it makes sense or not, but that would probably be the rationale. EDIT: To answer the original post, if I was in your position I think I probably would have handled it okay. Then again, I've never worked a cash register, so I don't know how easily I could handle something like that at the end of a long day. I might say something like "Dude, I do speak English," and try and joke around a bit to get him to warm up a little. If I was really faced with the true Jack of All Wagons, though, I might snap. Especially if I made a careless mistake with the change, and he caught me. That would tick me off.

Help me find some music :P
Try Paul Simon's Graceland album. It's sort of a combo of American rock (Simon and Garfunkle style) with South African music. I don't think it's really this forum's style, but I know a lot of people who really like it.

who likes green day
Every band can have fans, no matter how much they suck. Sure, but whenever a Runescape player mentions a group (while fishing in Karamja), it's Greenday. I hear nothing but Greenday. Currently the amount of "fans" is too high to be natural. I like Greenday, I liked them before American Idiot came out and I've liked American Idiot since the first time I heard it. Eventually, it became fashionable to like Green Day, so now old fans are complaining that they went mainstream. All of a sudden it's fashionable to call them sell-outs. And through it all, I kind of thought they were a pretty good band.

the band godsmack
I thought music was supposed to bring people together.... :? Anyway, I like Godsmack. You sound like you like their older stuff better, but I prefer their acoustic album "The Other Side." I Stand Alone is awesome, as well as Straight out of Line. There was a pretty sweet video on launch.com a while back where Godsmack performed I Stand Alone for troops in Iraq. It looked incredible. From The Other Side album, I like "Voices" and "Realign" (re-make).

Monty Python fans - favourite Pythons? Skits?
Oh man....Monty Python  *points to sig* Obviously, Quest for the Holy Grail is awesome. Fun fact from their collective autobiography: The reason they don't have real horses in 'Holy Grail' is not because they thought it would be funny, but just because it was cheaper and easier! They tried it, decided it worked, and just went with it  My overall favorite, though, is probably John Cleese in 'The Argument.' Number two might be 'Ministry of Silly Walks.'
