Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States
Utopianflame replied to 3rkid's topic in Off-Topic
As a raw number IQ is meaningless, the assorted tests give different values to the percentiles which is the important thing. Frankly though in my opinion Bush earned his reputation as being dense when he publically called a war in the middle east/SE asia a crusade. -

Our debt is not going to get to zero during Obama's term. Both candidates will raise the debt for sure. It is not free health care. You have to pay taxes for it. Also, don't think you'll get your treatment right away. Have fun waiting for about three months (or longer) for other people to get what they need before your even considered. Given the size of the debt no one could remove it in a term, America is going to be paying off Bushes credit card for a long time. -

I doubt he'll be running a country at all by the end of his term. If a president can't respect the lives of the most innocent of people (children and elderly), how do we expect him to run our damn country. Well you made it through 8 years with a president who didnt care for your constitution, you have not had another civil war yet. I don't understand. And I don't remember Bush being extremely pro-choice. Well the 4th amendament is dead in all but name. You had the warrantless spying. Tacit approval of torture. Lieing outright to the people. I realise non of these concern abortion which appears to be quite important to you, but presumably the living (or in the case of the people in Iraq, now deceased) have rights too. @Toast thanks for that video, its hysterical. -

It is quite confusing, but it's worked for 44 Presidents, so why stop now. @UtopianFlame, I posted them once, I'll go find them. And it's quite naive to say the far left (GW is right when he says Obama is not even close to left when it comes to Europe) never riots. Erm fine, but where did I say the left doesnt riot? Thats not naive, its simply wrong. What I said is that if the results as they stood projected were the other way around Obama wouldnt call for a recount as there is no hope that a recount would change the overall result. -

What the hell is your problem dude? Nothing is my problem, Europe is crappy atm, with riots everywhere, and whatsoever. And Obama wants to bring us to that. But actually, Obama won fair and square, the people want him. I just am liking McCain even more, because of the speech he is giving atm, he is very very gracious, and Obama would have yelled re count, we all know. What riots would these be? I'm also pretty sure that with the margin this wise Obama wouldnt have 'yelled recount' , thats something you do when things are close and a recount could change the result. Not when things are so far apart nothing will change them. -
I certainly hope your English is bad, or did I just hear you say the murder of thousands of innocent people by those cold blooded, psychotic, murdering bastard fanatics was a glorious moment is history? He is saying that Obama being prez is just as bad as those events. Bad way of wording it though. No he isnt.

West coast closed, predicted call for Obama (no surprise there) also Virginia now called for Obama. Game set and match. Congratulations Senator.
-
In NC and Indiana possibly also maybe Virginia, but if Obama's 140k+ lead in Florida holds it doesnt really matter as without it nothing short of California voting for Mccain is going to change the overall result.

Like $50 Billion in aid to Africa? That is totally irrational. No not really for several reasons. Firstly compassion can effectively be an extenstion of self interest, quid pro quo late on down the line if you will. Secondly in return for aid countries generally specify conditions either to get or what must done with it (trade concessions, politcal changes, efforts against the drugs trade etc). Finally of course often highly publicised aid turns out to be debt relief instead, debts that would frequently simply not have been repaid anyway, so you write them off and get good PR out of it. It cant be tested (and requires assumption of the supernatural, contrasting naturalistic metholodgy) ergo it doesnt belong in a science class at all, should a student raise it the teacher should note that it does not fit in a science class and why and then drop it. -
The "(ie heaven)" part is not in John 14:6. That would be - what? Your own interpretation. A literal interpretation of that would be that the only way to reach God is to walk through Jesus. Nobody takes the Bible literally period, as that would be stupid, as I've illustrated. If you can point me to the cult that worships Jesus as being a door, I'll see what they're up to. As much as I would wish that no one takes the bible literally, people do. Here is one fairly prominent site of such people http://www.answersingenesis.org/ . Regrettably there are others (brother randy at T-4-C springs painfully to mind). You are right it is my own intepretation, but god is supposed to be in heaven, correct?
-
Cup_lion, I dont and have not. Although some people do. Literal was not the best choice of word (whether it is, or you believe it to be, inerrant is important though) a better word for the question would be complete. Accepting that the bible is not literal does however create its own problem, beyond the obvious ones, who chooses which sections are literal and which are not? As for gods idea of justice i'm afraid I have had a rather dim view of that ever since I read the old testament (rape victims being the obvious one). Also John 14:6 doesn't agree with you as it states that the only way to god (ie heaven) is through jesus. While I agrree it's not the place for pointing out any given persons sins, I was not intending to do so, it was just a slightly creative way of saying 'this is a debate, try not to get abusive'.
-
Well if you believe the bible to be inerrant and literal then they are going to hell. Where is the mercy in that?
-
Ok a few things. What if said 'perfect' person was never introduced to god or christ? Where does god stand now? The person is to be condemned for for not doing as they were asked when they were never in fact asked to do so? MATTHEW 15:11 not 5:11. namely "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man." i.e. your (bad) language defiles you. (This is KJV, assorted alternative translations can be found here http://bible.cc/matthew/15-11.htm). Also please get a dictionary and look up persecution. You are correct I am an atheist, although I was raised as christian. Why quote the bible at you? Because it is your ground and you are supposed to live by it, if you will not debate with reason/logic/science then I am required to use your scripture.
-
Actually no i'm not but as you feel the need to carefully type out censored language (whether you or the bot did it) i'll tkae a moment to remind you of Mathew 15:11. What you are espousing there is colloquially known as the 'faith doctrine', notably the belief that your actions have nothing to do with your salvation, only your faith (and willingness to repent, say on your death bed) and consequently you can do whatever you like with impunity so long as you believe at the end. Meanwhile anyone who has devoted their life to helping people but who does not believe in your god gets to go to hell (as noted in John3:18 which you so kindly posted.). Now personally I would question the mercy or grasp of the concept of justice that any being that would create and enforce such a policy. On the subject of John 3:20 I take you do not consider Murder to be an evil action then? Finally while I do agree it is illogical to hate something that you do not believe exists, it is however perfectly reasonable to hate a great deal of what humanity has done in the name of their gods.
-
Well the bible disagrees with you here. Revelations 21:8 and 22:14-15 would say that murderers go to hell (or at least dependant on your doctrine they are outside of heaven).

Its the UK, a great many schools have prayer sessions during their assemblies are listed(named) as Church of England schools and are named after saints. Heck we even have an official state religion. Oh and dont forget compulsory RE classes. So perhaps unsurprisingly people tend not to get sued for teaching about god in school. Conviently the prevailing 'religion' in the UK these days is apathy. -

Scientology is not a "quirky" Hollywood religion.
Utopianflame replied to O_M_G_Guasto's topic in Off-Topic
That's just the thing, though. Anon isn't interested in fighting social injustices. Notice how Anon only started to act against the Church of Scientology once the church rained on their parade? And notice how Anon refuses to attack the governing bodies of any other religion under the same basis as which they attack the church of Scientology? Anon is like a crazy ex-girlfriend-- Vindictive. (I guess that's why their slogan is something like "Anon never forgets") There are not all that many religons whose sole purpose is to extract money from people, although you could argue that was largely the purpose of the catholic church for a good chunk of it's history. As for calling Anon vindictive, then you run out of words to describe the Co$ approach to its detractors and opponents. http://www.lermanet.com/scientologynews/time.htm Or then again there is this On the Jedi front, while I can't comment on other countries, in the UK, ~390,000 put jedi as their personal religon in the 2001 census.
