  1. Onyx ring depends on price of onyx in same way as Onyx amulet, so average wold be 4.05mil last time I checked. Although because they are so much lower in demand (and thus supply), there might be a larger fluctuation. Hint: see if you can find someone trying to *sell* first, rather than trying to *buy* yourself. Because so few people sell and buy them, if a seller needs to sell it for quick cash, he may not be able to find a buyer, and thus you can bargain way lower, maybe 3.5m or so. But if you are the one who desperately wants to buy, then it'll be the other way around, and someone might extort 4.5m from you. And no, it doesn't give any bonuses other than turning into a rock (which is kinda useless, because it doesn't stop you from being attacked and doesn't stop you from being visible on the minimap as a player). It's thus really a novelty luxury items just to show off.
  2. Meh, doing RFD:Dave with a kitten is *nothing* I did *RAT CATCHERS*, START TO FINISH, with a KITTEN!!! Can you imagine how annoying it was? :wall: :wall: :wall:
  3. They shouln't have removed the flying axe, they should have just fixed the biggest player complaint about it - losing the axe head which makes axe useless, and is a major suckage if you have Dragon axe. What they should have done is keep the axe flying, but do the following: - Make axe head (as well as axe handle) untradeable and unpickable (no more newbs stealing it) - Once (AND ONLY ONCE) the axe head has -completely- disappeared (not lying on floor, not in your inv, not in your bank), you should be able to get a new axe head from Bob in Lumby for a small fee (same fee as repairing broken axe from end random) - Can only have 1 axe head and 1 axe handle at a time, so macroers can't stack them up and use another when one falls off. In other words, make it work like Dwarf cannon - you can't get a free one if you have one, but if you lost yours you can get a replacement. Of course this only works if you lost the head in a random - if you just trade your axe to someone, you have to buy a new one for full price. That way macroers would still be prevented from cutting wood, but players who lost their Dragon axe wouldn't just find they are 3 mil short.
  4. Crafting is not really much different from other "produce items nobody needs unless you are have a super-high level, and even then almost nobody needs it because there are so many other super high levels around and the demand for these items is so small that a lot of people who can make these items do it for free" skill. Say, smithing. It's different from mass-production skills like Herblore. You still need a high level to make a profit, but at least you can massively produce popular potions and sell them. Same thing with fishing and cooking - things like sharks can be sold in bulk, and no matter how much you produce, you can easily sell everything, much quicker than the time to produce it. With crafting, you may be high enough to make a Fury ammy, but the stones are so hard to get that there are very of them to make ammies out of, and finding the stone to begin with is much harder than getting the crafter to do it. Even if you charge 10-20k per craft, getting just several requests a day isn't going to make you rich. Same with smithing - now that there are a ton of 99 smiths out there, the profits you might get from making R2Hs don't nearly cover the expense of getting the 99. But at least with smithing you CAN make some profit if you decide to make cannonballs. Crafting is the skill that: - Takes longer to level than most other skills - Costs quite a bit to level, with absolutely no profit on investment - No long term point of having a high level, can neither make a profit nor use it for own gameplay advantage So, yeah, it's one of the most useless skills to have a high level in, and thus nobody bothers except skillers. :-/
  5. Taken at W99 Fally during the "PC riot"
  6. Spamming in pub chat is in violation of rule 1? Then how come you don't all go mute people in W1 Varrock, W2 Falador, or W6 Seer's? They certainly enter the same text many, many times together. It had been a long standing precedent that spamming is considered "offensive language" when it is used to harass players (such as spamming someone's private chat, or spamming in pub chat calling someone a noob 10 times in a row). Just expressing your text repeatedly is not considered spamming, or we'd have to mute all merchants in the worlds above. Now, I don't support the "riot" and think it's stupid. But if Jagex (or player mods on Jagex's authority) are punishing rioters in the picture for breaking rule 1 (I'm NOT referring to those who swear or insult players in the riot, just general people who say "against PC"), then it's called "selective prosection"). Yes, they may be breaking the rules, but the reason you target them is not because they break the rules per se (otherwise, as I said, you'd also start punishing merchants), but because they say something you don't like which happens to break the rules, and thus you use the rule-breaking part as an excuse for punishing someone who says what you don't want to hear. Don't all start going about how "this is a private game" and "Jagex has the right to control speech". Yes, they have the legal (real-world legal meaning) right to do so, but it's immoral and lame. Either punish EVERYONE for spamming their text (not profanity, personal insults or threats, but just simple message spam), including merchants at busy worlsd or nobody at all. Jagex should NOT use the pre-text of spam to SELECTIVELY target "rioters" out the general spamming population. Edit: When I tried to raise this question on the RSOF, an eager player mod closed the topic saying "rules are not for discussing, send this to customer support". I guess I'll just post it here.
  7. What do you think is the best place to kill black knights? The outpost north of Fally? Taverley dungeon? Or somewhere else? I want to get a good rank with the white knights!
  8. I decided to take a look at the PC "riot" at W99 Fally (not actually "rioting", just came to look what's going on). And I see a ton of people saying something like "ice" me, and others saying "icing people 10k" (or some other amount). Here's a pic: What does "icing" people mean?
  9. I'm a P2P, but for PKing I go to F2P because P2P pking is not neceserily bad but different. - Much less people on - People much more pro, almost no such thing as solo or casual PKers, always clan gangs of like 10 people and you don't have a chance unless you are in a powerful clan - To have any chance even with a clan you need to all use very expensive items (Because other side uses), so dying really hurts. In F2P the max gear set costs about 200k, so dying is no big deal In short, F2P is a much more relaxed and casual way to PK, without all the nerves and risks of P2P pking, and I like it much more. But given the fact that a large part of P2Pers PK the same way, we WOULD appreciate SOME things updated in F2P. We definitely DON'T want stuff like new armor or weapons because that defeats the purpose of casual and low-risk PKing. What we DO want are things like team capes, snare (entangle is too much), and teleblock (or maybe teleblock lite with 2/3 of duration time, better than nothing) so mages actually stop stinking and balance would be restored.
  10. does that scam work well >.< u must been greedy and saw the 600k of stuff, human nature. =) It's one of the most popular scams because it is counterintuitive. Usually you expect people to "cheat" you, like asking you for something you know you should'nt tell them, or asking you to show that you trust them, but in this scam they just pretend they are nice. The request is cloning a reasonable request which in theory is supposed to ask how much free space you have (so trade doesn't get autorejected for lack of space), and psychologically you think the other person is doing something reasonable. There is no psychological barriers to rejecting this scam if you don't know about it, and all it takes is not being careful, to lose potentially huge amounts.
  11. Some comment: - I don't know how you ended up with ranger set where you put it, but in all my experience of W2 Fally ranger set is traded in middle of park, right between where you put Karil and Dragon - Abyssal whips are traded right by dragon chain, even a little more west (until you are blocked from going any more west by the wall). - Rune boots are traded where you put dragon - Where you put "masks" really means "all rares" (real rares, not TT items and such) - Dragon squares tend to be traded closer to your "karil" than to your "dragon"
  12. You are supposed to dress like a noob, although seeing someone with 99 smithing and full BRONZE armor would certainly be funny, so sure
  13. The reason I posted it here is because it is not yet an actual planned event, I'm more interested in getting opinions whether this will even work and whether people like the idea of celebrating a Newbie Day. If people do like it, then once we actually finalize the date and time I'll certainly ask this to be moved to events.
  14. Hi there fellow Tip.Itians (or is it Tip.Iters?) How many of you are sick and tired of the abuse of the word "newbie"? From it's original meaning as a newcomer, a person new to the game, it has universally outgrown to mean an insult, a rude remark, which is now applied to pretty much anything and everything you don't like. How many of you realize that we were all once newbies? How many of you understand that it is not most lower levels who happen to be scammers or bots, but rather most scammers or bots happen to be lower levels because there is less to lose if they get banned? And therefore, just because someone is a lower level, does not make him or her automatically a scammer, bot, or any other bad thing? How many of you acknowledge that every player has a real life person controlling them, who should be given the same respect as everyone else? How many of you, when seeing a confused or lost newer player, would rather help them then call them a n00b and laugh at them? How many of you understand that anything from silly questions to bad spelling/grammar do not make someone necessarily a noob (look at my siggy!)? The list could go on and on and on. And I would like to think that I am not the only one with those thoughts and feeling. That there are other people, on this forum and others, that are not prejudiced towards lower level players, and that are willing to help instead of mock them! Therefore, I propose: Every first Sunday of August, each year, be designated as the... Runescape Newbie Day WHY? Reasons described above! This will be the day on which we: - Acknowledge that we were all once newbies - Agree that being a newbie is not a bad thing - Do fun and events together to celebrate the day! WHAT? Part 1: 2007 Newbie Rally! In the rally, we all gather together as a group and walk around Runescape, dressed and speaking like newbies! That's right! You level 110s put your nice full dragon back in the bank, and buy yourself a nice set of sparkling new Full Bronze Armor! Or get that hammer and bronze bars out and smith it yourself! Of course, you are not limited to bronze. There are other hot items out there, like leather armor, wooden shields, pink skirts! Oh, the possibilites are endless! Even better, don't wear a uniform set of armor, but a mix and match! In short, dress like you would expect a typical newbie to! Here, I have even added a picture, so you know what is good armor and what isn't! So what do we do once we get all that stuff on us? We go around all of F2P Runescape in a train and attract attention! But wait, you say, there is more to being a newbie than dressing like one right? Of course there is! We also need to talk like newbies! Recommended phrases would be things like: - Fr33 57uff p10x! - Selling cabbages! - Buying Note: Please do not say anything that is against the rules. The objective is to be funny, not annoying! If you "buy" or "sell" something, it has to sound silly enough so people know it's a joke and not a scam. As an alternative, you can take a more serious approach, and instead yell out things like: - Newbies are people too! - We all are a newbie at heart! - We were all once newbies! - Newbies should be helped, not mocked! - Not all newbies are scammers or macroers! Just imagine 40-50 HIGH-LEVEL (all levels are welcome of course, but high levels would make the most impact) players, walking around in a train dressed in bronze/iron armor, yelling out the above things! :ohnoes: Part 2: Charity After we had lots of fun going around, we can target the newbies directly. For this part, we change back from newbie armor to high level one (or any fancy clothing you want), and then go around where real newbies can be found (like Lumbridge). This part can be more disorganized, because we will probably split across different servers. The point is that each participant should find and help at least one newbie (the more the better!) But make sure you help a -real-n newbie instead of an obvious "pure" account, or worse, a macroer! Things you can help with include: - Giving out free armor, food, tools, coins, or other items useful for a newer player. Especially appreciated are items which the newbie can use to make his or her own money (like axes/pickaxes), including instructions on how to use them. Make sure you give something a newbie can wear! - Teaching newbies about Runescape and the gameplay - Any other helpful thing you can think of! For myself, I have already prepared to give out some items! My goal is to sponsor at least 40 newbies, among which I will distribute the following: Of course, after you have helped as many people as you can, you should post your results on the forums! So we can compare who were the Newbie Day Champions! WHO? EVERYONE is invited! Your level does not matter, although I'd certainly love to see some of the higher levels attend! Just make sure to dress appropriately! HOW? Path: The path is not finalized yet, but this is a suggestion: We start at the Al-Kharid palace (bank is nearby for you to get ready). We then go to Lumbridge and make a stop, then go northeast to Varrock (entering through east end and walk to center). Make another stop, then go west, all the way to Barbarian Village, from there go north and make a stop in Edgeville. Go back to village, go west to Falador and made a stop there. Finally, travel southeast to Draynor Village where the final stop will be! Each stop should take about 5 minutes, about the same for the travel period (travelling in a large group is always slow). So I estimate the whole rally to take about 40 minutes, maybe up to an hour. WHERE? World: A busy world is good to attract attention, but probably 1 is not the best because it's hard to get on. World 3 would be good, or maybe world 4 or 5. The end objectives are to: - Educate people about tolerance to newbies - Have lots of fun - Feel like a newbie yourself again! If this rally goes through, we will certainly post screenshots and other reports of the rally on the forum! WHEN? What stage is this at right now? This whole idea is still in the proposal stage. There are almost 3 weeks before the proposed date. During the first week, I'd like YOU to tell me what do you think about this whole idea! Does it seem like fun? Would you be willing to participate, or even donate? (Not as in donate to me, but to the newbies themselves). Would you be interested to find out the results? When posting, please also say the time which will be most comfortable to you. Also, if you think the proposed date absolutely stinks, feel free to propose your own date instead. The original proposed date was Sunday, August 4th, 2007. The reason I came up with this date is because August means summer holidays for many people, and Saturday is when most people don't have school/work/church/something else to attend. If enough people support this to become a reality, then I'll post the actual date and time, and we can all start to prepare! So please post what you think about this!
  15. Meh. Went for a couple of short trips today using the cheapskate melee outfit. Am level 95 combat, 78hp and melee stats 77/78 all. Can kill exactly 2 dragons per trip, then running out of sharks and close to running out on potions too. Each trip costs me half a super set, 4 prayer potions, around 20 sharks. Drops: coins and blood runes. And this does not count the risk of dying and accounting for average potential for death per trip multiplied by the value of my equipment I'll lose if I die. I think I'll pass going there. Quicker to make money some other way and buy the drops for me. Sure, yea, I could hit the jackpot with dragon visage or full, but I think I have better chances playing lottery.
  16. I'm P2P and I support this. I perfectly understand that bank space is meant to be restricting (it is restricting on P2P as well if you think how many P2P-only items we have to store). But everything has to be reasonable. There's a difference between a luxury and a bare nessecity. P2P should offer the luxury. If you can't store every single instance of a potion dose (so you don't waste any), it's a lack of a luxury. If you can't store every quest item or key you might need, it's a lack of a luxury. If you can't store every single crafting mould, every single ore and bar, every single arrow/bolt type, etc, it's a lack of a luxury. Go to P2P if you want these luxuries. If you can't store enough items to be able to level your skills and play the game as it was intended to be played, it's a lack of a bare necessity! Bare necessities should be met on both F2P and P2P. F2P should cut down on luxuries to entice players to switch to P2P, but when it crosses the line and becomes simply unplayable, then it's morally an extortion, not an enticement, and it's wrong. Imagine if F2P only had full bronze armor. Imagine if F2P wildy only went till level 10. Imagine if F2P combat spells only included the strike spells. All those things would make F2P pretty much unplayable. And the same thing goes for bank space. Given the current ratio of barebone F2P items to the available bank space, F2P is getting unplayable, plain and simple. I guess people who oppose extra space are the same kind of people who think people on welfare should just starve to death instead of getting barebone meals and shelter. I sure don't want my welfare tax money to pay for some hobo's limo or seaside mansion, but having it pay for bread and water is a whole different story. Same story with RS. I'm P2P and I enjoy the luxury P2P provides, the less crowded servers, the extra locations, the top-of-the-line items like dragon armor, and so on. I'd sure be angry if F2Pers got all that. But I do realize there are some necessities in order to be able to play F2P, and currently they are not being met. Every limitation must be reasonable.
  17. I'm pretty sure the legal/illegal line is drawn right at the ditch. If you lure by scamming, lying or deceiving someone BEFORE they enter the ditch, IN ORDER FOR THEM to enter it, then you are breaking the rules. If you deceive someone AFTER they entered the ditch on their own free will, then it's fine, because they are already in the wildy. So, if you lie and say to a merchant "ill buy your items north of ditch" and then PK them, you are breaking the rules (not that you'll get seriously punished anyways, but at least in theory). But if you meet someone already in the wildy for one reason or another, and, say, lure them further north or to a multicombat area, then it's fine. Someone already in the wildy should expect people to be able to interfere with their activities. Just like the other rule which says you may not make a game unenjoyable for someone else, well, heh, PKing someone is sure unenjoyable for them, but in the wildy it's legal. For the same reason, if you decide to report a lurer, it's important to do so BEFORE you actually entered the wildy. Because the only thing you can report someone for is lying to you while you are still safe. If you skip that part, get PKed, and then report the PK (with the lies part already past the 60-sec limit), then you don't have a case you can prove, because the PKing part isn't illegal, only the lying part.
  18. Will you be able to wear dragon armor with 48 defence and saradomin brew? Then, unless you take it off, it should stay on. Would make the job about 4 times easier. As for quests - you don't have a fireball's chance in heaven to do Contact with your proposed stats, but the rest might be possible, especially one small favor. Also a small tip - your intended stats will result in lvl 18 combat. You can still get up to 6 prayer levels and stay at 18, which will make doing quests MUCH easier, since you can use prayer potions and have them last at least some time.
  19. Sorry to say so but serves you right for giving away your pass. You are lucky you only lost items isntead of getting banned either for sharing your account, or for the other person doing bad stuff while on your account and getting your account banned for that.
  20. Wonderful. So when I have food but don't eat it early and get k0d, I get a pm "0wnt noob" When I do use the food to keep hp high and not get k0d, I get a pm "omg safer noob"
  21. I see it all the time, but what does it stand for? I got the impression it stands for a 1-hit kill but I'm not sure.
  22. no it probably won't even work because you have to press ALT and THEN push the number, anyways it won't work. I found a few cool ways to bypass the censor :) anyways i think i'll make a guide out of this, if u guys want Umm, so you have to press and hold alt and then type, so what? Any macro program can do it :/
  23. There's no "report for abusing reporting" option under abuse report. That being said, unless you saw an -explicit- lie to another player, they did not break any rule. It's not illegal to charge overpriced, as long as you don't actually lie and say "the item is worth X". You might get a blackmark from Jagex, although that is unlikely. They usually don't punish people who report in good faith, even if they made a mistake. There is even a policy stating "if you are not sure if something is illegal or not, report it". Also, the price of an item is dependent on the circumstances. For example, law runes in bulk sell for 300ea on average (give or take 20 coins or so), but if someone needs a single law rune to teleport, they always say "buying 1 law for 1k". Because any less and I won't bother going to the bank to get the item. If I see someone dying from poison without any antipoison, food, or tele runes, and with expensive stuff on them, I could charge 100k for an antipoison. :-/ That would be immoral, but not illegal.
  24. I'd say monkfish. You can catch them almost as fast as lobsters, and they sell for twice as much (healing 16 a piece). They offer the best combo of exp and money. Since you catch monkfish at nearly twice the rate of sharks (and go for average 400 coins each), you make almost the same amount of money as you would with sharks (go 900 each), and much faster exp.
  25. As expected, the only people this is an advantage to are those using autotypers. They can type a few eye-catching symbols very fast (in every message they post), and unlike chat effects, other players can't turn off these symbols, which means its much easier for autotypers to attract attention to their messages when trading in W2 Fally or another popular place.
