Posting Real Life Pictures
The premise of you saying "spoiling" is that not allowing a picture thread somehow kills any picture sharing. It's only an argument of making things more convenient, the work load should be on us instead of the admins. Considering what they have implied about what happened the last time pictures were put up, continuing to argue in favor of even a thread that links to another site (which is still the same thing) is trivializing what happened. Seriously, people apparently got stalked. How much are you willing to risk just so its EASIER to share pictures? As for the "make a thread linking to another site", see above.

No. But according to admins, there have been EXTREMELY severe consequences from allowing real life pictures. Again, your argument is one of convenience. Considering the implications of what Ard and the Sith have said, burdening those who want pictures to avoid what happened is a fair trade.

Except allowing a link to that forum even when you say "we're not responsible if you click this link" only prevents liability on their part from a legal standpoint, not an ethical one. There's not much point to a debate on the principle of their rule here. You're saying that they're overprotective, and they're saying "better safe than sorry." There isn't any negative effect on Tip.it deciding not to allow a thread for pictures because of the number of alternatives you can use. The only argument is one of convenience for yourself and more work for them. If I were them I'd make the exact same decision.

Posting Real Life Pictures
Except allowing the thread is a tacit acceptance/encouragement of the other forum for pictures by Tip.it, which is the exact same. The disclaimer of "post at your own risk" would obviously be applied to a picture thread if it were on TiF. There's no difference between the two except the URLs being different. This debate is and has been over for a while. You can put the site together on your own time and advertise it to people on your friends list. What exactly makes you so desperate to have Tip.it authorize it? If they don't want a picture forum here, they certainly won't advertise for one somewhere else.

That would be the exact same if the thread were allowed as having a picture forum here.

What alternatives are you talking about?

Not tutorial island again! 25+ Supporters! Support Siggies!
The point about manual control by the controller of the autoer was simply to answer your proposed solution in your first post. Again, this isn't that much of a hassle unless you're making a new account every day, in which case that's the price you should pay for making frivolous accounts and taking up server space. If you think 10 minutes of monotony is a bad thing, you need to seriously rethink why you're playing Runescape.

Great job for responding to everything I wrote. But in response to yours 1) Taking an hour to do tutorial island is ludicrous 2) I created a character and timed myself. 10 minutes. 3) Once again- if someone for some reason wants to make a bunch of frivolous accounts that's the price they pay for taking up server space.

And you can tell that someone is over 18 by the way they look? I don't know why this debate is still going on. The decision has been made. It's over. Go post pictures somewhere else if you want to so badly.

Despite Devnull's ability to make posts that don't actually contain responses to arguments... 1) The number of people that make so many accounts that Tutorial Island becomes a hassle are a small minority among the Runescape population- even for them, I would say that's the price you pay for taking up so much memory on the character servers 2) Disagreeing with a suggestion is not in fact causing trouble 3) Tutorial island takes a whole 5-10 minutes, and if you can't spare that kind of time then don't bother making the character 4) Again, what's the stop the player controlling the autoer to just manually go through the random event and continue on with their merry macro business?

And how do you plan on verifying that people are 18?

1) We are not owed jack squat in the way of an explanation. Being on TiF is a privilege, not a right. 2) If you want to share pictures so badly, pm them to people or use another website. There is no reason why we have to keep bothering the crew about something as trivial as sharing pictures of ourselves. I'd rather they be doing something like keeping tip.it and tif running smoothly 3) What sith said- it's not like the admin team has said no because they're trying to spite you all. Either trust them or leave.

Order of Cabbage has reached another mark!
Nice job OoC- love the collection. In case any of you whiners were wondering, Jagex apparently considers the OoC as the model "clan". Have any of YOU done anything that Jagex devoted an April Fool's joke to? Hint: Answer = no.

Do you really want to ask that? I think you'd have a few upset people on that issue. :-s I personally have a few accounts, all self-made and non-'rule violating' (As in, I don't auto or anything like that and I never will!)... one for every potential side to my general personality... only a few people know how many and what their usernames are, but don't try pumping people for info. I'd likely end up notified, which would put you on my 'short list'. Also, some people need a few accounts to really enjoy the game right. Especially if they want a try on some quests more than once. Any chance I've made a reasonable point? :-s ~Mr. Devnull Nope. Especially the part where you take cham's statement out of context and then add some random part where you assume anyone actually wants to talk to you. Cham's argument is that tutorial island isn't that much of a hassle anyways, unless you're making some absurd number of accounts. I suppose if one desires to make around 30 accounts that they'll spend a large quantity of time on tutorial island, but that's the price you pay for wanting so many of them.

2 April 2007 - Behind the Scenes - April
How very shocking that the whiners have appeared within 10 posts of this being put up. Because after all, the only thing Jagex does right is when they do exactly what YOU want, not trying to appeal to every person that plays runescape. Never mind that holiday events are a tradition that everyone would go nuts about if they stopped doing them. Never mind that plenty of people enjoy the storylines of things like the HAM vs. the Dorgeshuun, or that the crafting update is incredibly exciting. Weren't you supposed to quit? Shoo fly.

April fools! Teh fun is over 4 us now =(
Cute response. Nevermind the personal violation inherent in the design of the forum part of this joke or even attempting to rationalize any further. You've either missed the point or chosen to ignore it, so I'll underline it for you - I shouldn't have to leave the forums for a day to escape the joke. Some websites (I.E. Runescape.com) have their little joke, but once revealed, the joke is over and you can carry on with your business there without having to worry about it. This joke doesn't end when it's discovered, it carries on throughout the day and alienates those of us who do take some pride in what we write and take meticulous care to ensure that we're communicating to the best of our ability. Your response was to tell me to leave for a day if I don't like it - how kind of you to be so abrasive to a forum user. Rather than attempt to understand the frustration inherent in the nature of such a joke, you are content with brushing my concerns aside in a standoffish manner. It's the problem I've always found with Tip.it. The Staff presents their own agenda as infallible, and any contrasting views are trampled over to make way for what Staff wants. As for people who don't necessarily always agree? Like myself? Well, if we don't like it, we can just leave. No empathy, not even the basic understanding that maybe...just maybe there could be a more complex idea here. As for your suggestion, Tripsis? You're absolutely right. I should leave. Not for a day, not for a week, I should have left a long, long time ago and not come back. Thank you for providing me with clarity. Cheers folks, (I hate April Fool's Day.) Centuramage over and out. You are quite correct on the leaving part. Go away, don't come back. People like you shouldn't be here, and I'm glad the April Fool's joke weeded you out. BEING A PART OF TIP.IT FORUMS IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT. Get over yourself. You post here because Tip.it is nice enough to LET you post here.

CABBAGE!!!
Did you actually read all of what they typed? I admit to being fooled too.....right up until the cabbage rune part. Then I laughed at myself, and then started crying because I made the connection that cabbage armor was in fact NOT coming out.
-
April Fools
No, it's actually quite witty and amusing.

@Dreams =)@
Had nearly the same thing as you, except she was real. Way way way back in high school, took the train coming back home thinking about this one girl i met at the camp. Couple days later, woke up from a dream about her and I that felt like it lasted weeks. The aftermath upon waking up was......severely unpleasant.

The new censors
Perhaps you are either living under a rock or sorrounded by people who have rather large sticks stuck up their you-know-where's, much like yourself. Don't like it? Spend a day away from TIF if it kills you so much.

1 April 2007 - Behind the Scenes - April 1st
I think there are two things about this update that hold true for a lot of people besides me: 1) Sadness ---> Frustration ----> Anger over not actually getting cabbage armor 2) A willingness to trade their entire bank for a suit of cabbage armor

Where are they now????
Oopsies. I always thought the reason he made angel was because Wicked got banned. My bad. Which character was made first? Angel or Wicked?

How Do I "Un-Register" from Tip.it?
Go away?

April fools! Teh fun is over 4 us now =(
I thought about that briefly too. Not enough to quit RS, but enough to quit Tip.it, which is apparently run by 12 year-olds. If you are so uptight that a small joke like this makes you quit, no one wanted you here anyway.
