The Offical TIF American Elections thread
Hmm... Sounds a lot like Obama's health care plan... Some analysis comparing the difference between McCain's health care plan and Barack Obama's, courtesy of a friend: Initially I can tell you without really reading the plans, that I trust Barack Obama's much more than McCain's. Look how much shorter in description each plank of McCain's plan is compared to Obamas. How about all that absurd rhetoric on McCain's page, militarizing/romanticizing about health care, with his "Call to Action", his "Vision", his "Plan of Action". You can't win by leading the charge on Health Insurance Hill - its going to take a lot of nerds working late nights in broom closets with calculators to figure this one out. Which leads me to my next quick thing: mentions of cold hard numbers. I counted 4 numbers in McCain's plan. There are 26 in Obama's. Instead of numbers? McCain uses the word "should" eleven times in his plan; Obama twice. It's comparable statements about the same ideas which really demonstrate my point: McCain: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: Greater Use Of Information Technology To Reduce Costs. We should promote the rapid deployment of 21st century information systems and technology that allows doctors to practice across state lines. Obama: Lowering Costs Through Investment in Electronic Health Information Technology Systems: Most medical records are still stored on paper, which makes it hard to coordinate care, measure quality or reduce medical errors and which costs twice as much as electronic claims. Obama will invest $10 billion a year over the next five years to move the U.S. health care system to broad adoption of standards-based electronic health information systems, including electronic health records, and will phase in requirements for full implementation of health IT. Obama will ensure that patients' privacy is protected. And here's something which just flat out demonstrates how Obama's take on the world trumps McCain's: McCain (this is under "Lowering Health Care Costs"): TORT REFORM: Passing Medical Liability Reform. We must pass medical liability reform that eliminates lawsuits directed at doctors who follow clinical guidelines and adhere to safety protocols. Every patient should have access to legal remedies in cases of bad medical practice but that should not be an invitation to endless, frivolous lawsuits. Obama (this is under "Lower Costs"): Insurance reform. Obama will strengthen antitrust laws to prevent insurers from overcharging physicians for their malpractice insurance and will promote new models for addressing errors that improve patient safety, strengthen the doctor-patient relationship and reduce the need for malpractice suits. Obama comes at this problem from two directions: The direct cost of the lawsuits themselves, and the indirect cost of covering the possibilities of the lawsuits (insurance). McCain only comes the problem in the former (and not the latter) way. Most importantly: Obama's plan is concerned with the prevention of malpractice; McCain's plan is concerned with the prevention of malpractice lawsuits. Imagine a world under McCain's plan: Your doctor screws up while following procedure (since this seems to be the viable scenario for sueing in McCain's plan). Either the screw up was the doctor's fault, in which case you can't sue her/him because he was following procedure, or god forbid, the procedure was wrong in the first place. If the procedure was wrong either a) better luck next time, B) sue whoever developed the procedure. And voila, the blame shifting game goes on. McCain's plan could be: don't sue the doctor, sue big pharma/the hospitals! Great way to keep costs down... Yes, Obama's plan is more touchy-feely, but also yes a good doctor patient relationship is crucial. What better way to keep a doctor from screwing up then by giving him an emotional investment in her/his patient. Obviously you people want some kind of "evidence". Well here you go: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/29/health/29well.html Obama's plan is also much more adaptable - if the procedure is wrong, there are already people "addressing errors", and a reason to sue (force a change in the system) has been taken out of circulation. Plus I really like the bit about keeping malpractice insurance down - from what I know it's mandatory that doctors have it most places, so it's probably really increasing overhead costs just about everywhere/is probably a noncompetitive market just about everywhere. Annnnd here's some evidence: http://insurance-reform.org/StableLosses2007.pdf and ahahahahaha some more: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/04/ ... 0102.shtml (this one even goes so far as to refute even the existence of all those "frivolous" lawsuits) More to come later.

Newest SuperMods - Laikrob and pryomancer. Congratulations!
"creeped out"??? WTF?!?!?!? Really NOT quite anywhere near what I had even intended, chris. :shame: ... Especially when I'm just trying to jokingly 'rib' a Super Mod into joining a bunch of us over in that thread whose name I've mentioned already... (gender really isn't a factor here ... dangit) ... Super Mods are supposed to be able to kick back a little more, at the same time as they have to deal with more stressful issues, given the increased power they have... LOL  <*Gives Laikrob a chocolate cake to go with that soda... Soda alone = not good.*> ~D. V. Devnull I didn't really talk about your intent- I just pointed out that your actions always result in women being creeped out or annoyed, intended or not. Didn't galaxisonline teach you anything? ;) Grats again Laikrob and Pyro. May those giant hammers of doom always be easy to swing :D

Private boards for players from the same country?
They really organize by language, not nationality.

<*DVD points back about 4 posts from this one...*> Laikrob... did....... Gave... me... anxiety... attack... <*DVD falls over again.*> ~D. V. Devnull (Author's Note: If you're not realizing it... There IS some 'ribbing' going on here. :P ...) The silence you hear is the sound of women everywhere being creeped out by you. Congrats Laikrob and Pyromancer.

Fgfuyfyuiuy0's Guide to Gold mining
For those who have completed the varrock diary, bringing varrock level 3 armor will allow you to occasionally get a double ore from a rock, well worth the inventory space of bringing it along.

Tortured Soul (lvl-129) Drops
Good effort, but no. The only acceptable pieces: Black med helm/full helm Black chain/plate black platelegs/plateskirt i would guess Black square/kiteshield Black weapons that aren't a crossbow And you're free to do whatever for the cape/gloves/boots/amulet.

The New Shields
Not really. Because the way the hitting system is (imo) random then the 17.5% is irrelevant, I'd rather have +70 Defence boost all the time rather than "17.5%" of a random (someone hits 40 they'll still do 33 damage) so 17.5% is not a lot at all really, 17.5% only starts to be a lot if you're getting AGS spec'd or Dharok spec'd. Did you fail math class or something? The difference between the two isn't 70, it's a stab defense advantage of only 17 and a slash defense advantage of only 20. If you somehow think that deletion of 17.5% of damage recieved can't outkick 20 defense, when people are wearing outfits that run up to 300 defense, well, there's no hope for you. And if your fairly dumb theory that all hitting is random, then it means the extra defense from a DFS is completely meaningless. The only thing in your argument then matters then is an elysian or divine shield, which can take that random damage and absorb a percentage.

Sarah Palin
You clearly haven't read much into McCain's health or economic plans, especially the part where his entire plan of helping families get insurance is to cut massive checks to insurance companies. The reason conservative thinking absolutely fails in this day and age is that they believe that a less interfering government helps people get on with their lives, when the actual reality is that a less interfering government just makes it easier for everyone to do their best to screw everyone else. You also are disgusted at the amount of mud that people sling on this, a tiny forum that only runescape users visit, and turn a blind eye to the atrocity that was the commercial that insinuated that Obama wants to teach kindergardeners about sex before they learn to read. There's a difference between a tiny forum and a national commercial.

Post your Manage thy Kingdom results.
You can't select both Raw and Cooked fish at the same time, just like you can't select both flax and herbs at the same time.

Buying BGS/DFS?
Which happens to have zero bearing on you being dead wrong on people not being able to swing markets.

Buying BGS/DFS?
You clearly haven't looked at w2 GE today, nor attempted to put in an offer on a dfs or bgs at max.

Clearing up the latest website problems.
1) The attacker would have to be in the same country as wherever Tip.it is hosted (Italy, unless I'm missing something) 2) There is no small claims court in Italy 3) If both the attacker and Tip.it were in the U.S., for example, small claims court maxes out at $5,000, and probably much more than that was done 4) Proof is very hard to get, especially if the attackers are from different countries

Mods Posting In Red
I've spent about half an hour on the tipit theme staring at random lines of red text. Zero problems. Now look what you've done- we now owe Kaphias 5 bucks for wasting the time to respond to you. I could have had a footlong subway sandwich for that much money.

Mods Posting In Red
What middle ground? Just because some user came up with some totally baseless problem doesn't mean there needs to be a compromise. But if you're so set on there needing to be one, here's one: the moderators keep doing exactly what they're doing. This might be a totally alien concept to you, but just because a few users hallucinate a problem doesn't mean it needs to be fixed. Your last line is the most hilarious. You seem to be unable to do anything but sensationalize the slightest comment anyone makes. This problem is approximately the same magnitude as that of me deciding whether to eat regular or Honey nut Cheerios in the morning. The last thing anyone needs is for you to come in, blow up the problem, and then try to play moderator between two non-existent sides.

New PvP, exactly how will it not be used to rwt?
It'll probably be quite easy to make it anti-RWT possible. First, the only possible transfer of "wealth" is the drop table that gives a player hot loot for killing someone high-leveled. This means that no actual items get moved from one character to another. Second, the "impressiveness" of your kill means that you have to kill someone with a high level wearing sweet gear to get hot loot. Third, the person who dies loses all the sweet gear they were wearing- meaning that for bots to be able to get you that hot loot, they'd have to be willing to constantly lose sets of sweet gear. Fourth, Jagex could throw in a factor on the impressiveness of your kill, such as tracking how much food both fighters eat and how close to death the winner is. This would mean bots couldn't just stand there and get beaten to death by you- they'd have to put up a really good fight. Fifth, the hot loot is a drop, not a guarantee. If the hottest loot of them all is a rare drop from killing a level 138 armed with full bandos and an AGS, the RWTer would have to lose some serious coin to get you that hottest loot. I'm pretty sure we can trust on Jagex's vicious hatred of RWTers to come up with a fairly RWT-proof combat system.

Dynamic Signatures Released!
Looks like your gig as a "Web Guardian" isn't working out so well. What's more hilarious is that you believed that Tipit's sigs violated jagex rules but you made and used one anyways. Perhaps what we really need to do to pay staff members for the time they are forced to spend answering your totally baseless accusations.

Box for XBOX Live Username
Or you could just tell users that if they wanted to shout their alternate IDs to the world so badly they could put it in their location or clan line. And yes, i'm sure me saying this will cause you to fly off on some dissertation about how "some people want to reserve that space for their location" or something about how "putting clan info in the clan section is uber important," or "well I just HAVE to put what amounts to a personal ad in my location bar,"...... but frankly, if they want everyone to know their XBL name so much they should either sacrifice part of their profile or just start/join a thread in the video game section of off topic. And the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Dynamic Signature Discussion
Drop down lists (I'm sure this is what you mean because that's what's used on L33tscape) mean you have to click on each option to see what the pose looks like, this displays each one more easily. I don't use drop-downs for poses, I use a huge AJAX popup with a load of poses or stuff to choose from, works much nicer. So, it's a "pain" because YOU happen to do things differently. Thusly, since YOU like something a certain way (which is not the way everyone else perceives the world), Peter should work harder to change things to make it easier for YOU, since YOU did things differently and God knows that's the only good way to do things. I totally SWEAR that is not the most egotistical thing i heard today, mostly because I got out of bed and said audibly "I am god, bow before my will!" to no one in particular. I also totally "swear" that i don't think you're slanging Tif's clearly superior sigs because you're feeling a bit of signature envy at having developed a far inferior product. I do love the whole backhanded "i hope they're decent" compliment you threw in, though. I swear i totally missed it. But since I'd like to think i'm a nice guy.... I think your stuff is totally great except for the crappy interface, the stunning number of stupid PHP errors that get generated when I use your site, and the overall complete lack of ingenuity that you so graciously claim exists with Tipit sigs. I'm sure with a serious amount of work that you can boost leetsigs to semi-mediocre status. Good luck! Great work with the sigs Peter.

Do you Want Runescape: to have a money/item system?
To those that think paying for stuff is unfair, keep in mind that you're paying five bucks a month for members.
