  1. Are you saying that I get more stuff for my money if I did the new quest? That might be true, but I don't think that Jagex specifically announced it. When I first used Miscellania I got terrible rewards for my money and took it out immediately. This time I put 200k in and set my people to gathering flax. There's a pretty set price for that, so it's fairly likely that for 100% satisfaction I'll get a decent profit (anything more than 200 the first day is a good sign). I might switch to something else later, but I'd rather do something more reliable and measurable now. One thing that bugs me... Jagex said that if we tell enough of our subjects to work hard at a specific task we get an extra "bonus reward." I'd imagine that this is gems for mining and bird's nests for woodcutting, etc. However, does that mean that we must put all of our people into one task to get this sort of result, or we have to speak to all of our citizens?
  2. The problem with giving a mil to random new players is that they tend to die fairly often before they discover "banking." They're tons of dangerous NPCs in the Lumbridge, Varrock, and Draynor area (highwaymen, muggers, jail guards), and it would be a shame to waste a mil on that.
  3. Just out of curiousity... can teleblock fail? If so, does bringing good anti-mage armor and having a high magic level help against it? The same with entangle and similar spells.
  4. It used to, but it doesn't any more. It's still good to bring so that you can tele on the first sign of trouble or if you for some reason get entangled first, but it's not foolproof.
  5. You can get comparable stock from the store in Nardah, and besides access to a virtually unlimited supply of chocolate bars isn't nearly as unbalanced as 200k cooking exp per hour. You still need the herbs, after all.
  6. Statements like this are issued every once in a while so players who started since the previous statement and have never bothered looking through the site will know how Jagex enforces the rules. You see, Jagex knows that people can't be bothered to actually read rules, so they make what seems to be a new update to trick people to read them and scare them off from macroing.
  7. When you're ranging or maging from towers, try to not attack monsters that can attack you back. Attack monsters that are already in combat or ones that can't get to you. Make sure that enough people are attacking the east and west portals (or at least one) right at the beginning. It's a wasted effort if not. EDIT: This is really important- don't open the gates except at the beginnig so people can get to the portals. It lets a lot of stuff in.
  8. Even with the reduced exp, it's still not that bad. It's much more fun than regular training. However, the annoying thing is that there are so many monsters that it's really hard to move, and it's sometimes difficult to tell where the Spinners are. Halberds make it easier to attack the portals, but it's still frustrating. I don't think that this will be too hard to play in a few months from now when the excitement dies down. Castle Wars is always full, so I'd imagine that this will be too.
  9. Prove it happened, if 6 million family lines were wiped out, there would have been a MUCH greater effect then you might think, i have always believed the "holohoax" never happened and was just allied propaganda, im not saying hitler didnt kill a lot of jewish people, im saying the number is probably closer to 100,000 then 6 million, i doubt there was even 6 million jews in germany to begin with. Answer me this, Where did the number 6 million come from? did they poll the surving jews? did they poll the nazi's? Did they count the bodies? 6 million is a lot you know.. as a matter of fact if they ran the gas chambers day and night for the duration of the war and crammed 100 people in an hour for the full 4 years... they would have managed to kill 3.3 million people. 1. Jews were killed throughout Europe, not just in Germany. In fact, many (most I think) of the concentration camps were in Poland. 2. Jews weren't just killed in gas chambers. There were mass shootings (on the order of hundreds of people at a time) as well, in addition to the fact that many Jews died of starvation from the conditions in the camps. 3. What do you mean, "if 6 million family lines were wiped out, there would have been a MUCH greater effect then you might think." These were European families- we in the States (I'm assuming that you're American) would not be impacted in our daily lives. 4. I have met and am related to many holocaust survivors, all who passionately believed that yes, it did happen.
  10. 1. You get Klank's Gauntlets as part of the Underground Pass quest. There's no skill requirement, though the gloves from the new Recipe for Disaster quest are better. 2. The Dagganoth Kings (in Waterbirth Island Dungeon) drop Berserker Rings in addition to some other nifty rare items. They're three level 303s in a multi-combat area, one which attacks with melee, one which attacks with range, and one which attacks with magic. As I'm sure you can imagine, it's very dangerous. You can also buy it for a couple mil (not sure the exact price). Please put all questions in Help and Advice next time, though.
  11. Runescape isn't for everyone. If you can't play without playing too much, you shouldn't be playing at all. You know, not everyone who plays this game is addicted. Plenty of people play this in the time that they would otherwise spend watching television or something of the sort. Is there a problem with that? Sure, you won't gain levels as rapidly as you would if you played 24/7. In the end, though, who cares? What matters is that you have fun. I only play one hour a day on weeknights (at the most) and maybe three hours on Sunday (if I really have nothing else to do). I am a straight A student with an active social live, and RS is a way for me to remain in contact with some friends who I made in middle school but don't see that often. It's a great game when played in moderation. Personally, I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment that I get when I beat a hard quest or reach a milestone in a skill. Games that don't have that aren't as much fun for me (although I play them as well). Whatever floats your boat, though... if you like Age of Mythology more, go with it.
  12. I agree that they should have mentioned something about the economy. How there are semi-advanced concepts like inflation, supply, demand, buying things in bulk, etc., and how things like that give young people real business (and planning) skills. For example, to get a fletching level, I need to buy x bowstrings, x logs, x nats, which would cost x money, so I need to get it by... things like that. That's much more enticing to parents than saying that people spend hours staring at moving blue pixels, and more important as well. Interesting article, though.
  13. I wonder what happens if you would get less than 10 crops otherwise... for example, if I was going to get 6 ranarrs from an herb patch, would I now get 6.6? Maybe it's rounded up...
  14. Did the Otherworldly Being continue attacking you while that happened? It sounds like training on them could get pretty frustrating with the new random events. Image spontaenously dancing in the middle of a battle...
  15. This is awesome... you can melee ducks! Seriously, you should take a screenie of that. It won't last for very long.
  16. I agree, but I think that Jagex was always aware of this and never tried to fix it. Ghouls should probably be affected too, although I don't know if they're techincally undead. Afflicted, Undead Ones, Souless, and others are also not affected to my knowledge. Maybe Jagex just wanted the spell to only have a function that could be listed in the spell menu? That makes it a bit simpler.
  17. A lot of people say "You play Runescape? WoW is sooo much better!" However, the majority of those people have never actually played RS. It's the kind of game that's pretty boring when you're new, but as you get used to it it becomes much better than most other MMORPGs. The problem is that it takes a long time to reach that level, so new players get turned off before they can appreciate RS's potential. There's also a lot of misinformation out about RS- one person told me that "all of the quests are like gathering three random items," which isn't it at all.
  18. Too bad the maker couldn't photoshop out the "Ok." I'm not sure if its possible anyway, but it would have been nicer. That was pretty funny, but not as funny as you seem to think it is.
  19. I agree with the general consensus in this thread- have a social life, meet with your friends, and only play RS when you have nothing else to do. However, what if all of your IRL friends play RS and that is where you most often meet with them? Is meeting up with a friend to train on Shadow Warriors or play a minigame or go pking "socializing?" And if it is, is it any legitimate substitute for real life interaction? I think that it isn't, but it does count for far more than playing RS with strangers.
  20. Well, they don't one-hit the Tanglefoot during the quest...
  21. Well, Slayer's Respite isn't terribly useful now. It's a pity that the low-level new pies (up to fish) can be sold in the cooking guild for almost nothing. There's not much point in making them, despite the decent exp.
  22. I like them a lot. The only disappointing thing is that you can buy the low level ones in the cooking guild, so there's not much point in making them unless you need a ton (slowish respawn).
  23. You know, I'm much more excited about the pies than I am about the new monster and D2H. Anyone know where the recipe book is? I guess that I'll check out the new monster (it it's anything like Dagganoth things, a lot of people will be leaving priceless items on the ground after dying), and it's probably very cool... but something that gives +3 farming! That's just awesome.
  24. Green Dragons and Ogres. Dragons because of I hate going into wildy, and ogres because they're boring. Drop nothing but big bones and a semi-rare seed every once in a while. I've always wanted a troll slayer assignment, but I haven't gotten one yet. At least they provide some excitement.
  25. The announcement said that some pies will boost specific stats... maybe we'll be able to fill a pie with 3-doses of attack potion? Maybe just "potion pies" which we can fill with any (ingestable) potion at all.
