  1. I have 70 defense, and fire giants are no big deal, but they can hit a good couple of 10s or 11s in a row from time to time and I've seen people die when they lag out or stop paying attention. There are a couple safespots in the waterfall cave for hallying and ranging, if you just go there you will find people using them and learn them quick. 60 defense is probably a good start so you don't get owned on, but you will probably find yourself banking for food a lot.
  2. woodcutting is considered to be a "fast" skill, but its still nowhere near as fast as cooking or fletching, its just much more profitable. I've been doing a good bit of woodcutting (level 90 now) and I can say it will probably take you many months only playing a half-hour a day. 99 woodcutting is pretty doable compared to some other skills, but its definitely NOT easy. I think that playing about 3 hours a day it will probably take someone around 3 months, maybe more, and that's cutting willows, which don't generate very good money at all. Cutting yews or mages takes longer (much longer for mages)
  3. I seem to remember jagex telling us they were implementing a built-in team chat for players. This was at least a month ago. Anybody know anything about this, or am I just an idiot?
  4. yeah they make a lot of references sometimes. the programmers have a good sense of humor sometimes for example, I was just doing both miscellania+etceteria quests today, and one of the guards says in it "You're the king? Well I didn't vote for you!" which is from monty python + the holy grail I see references all the time, and I'm always like, that was pretty cool! But I usually forget things like this in about a day, so whatever.
  5. it will probably be a long time... jagex keeps coming up with new storylines, and not finsihing them There are a bunch of unfinished quest series that they might get to first, if at all, like: dwarf series (red axe company is planning something big) white knight series (there has to be more things on the way) morytania+vampyres (nobody knows what the vampyres are really up to) dorgushuun goblins (more stuff coming out this month) elemental workshop (extra doors that hint at more things to do) digsite/varrock series (whats up with the old city beneath varrock) gnome series (we don't know what ancient glouphrie is up to, or glough for that matter, probably has more demons up his sleeve) tower of life (theres mysterious stuff in the basement) yeah theres probably more, but jagex just keeps adding new quests and plotlines without finishing up old ones, so don't expect anything for a long time.
  6. OMG JEEzUS the same thing happened to me! That's like the trickiest thing I've ever come across during any quest! I kept thinking I told all sorts of stuff he didn't want to hear, and then he would always stop talking to me! I spent like 3 hrs on that z0mg most annoying thing ever.

    arrows

when i did that quest, I forgot to make brutal arrows and just whipped the boss to death. as long as you pray or something he's beatable with anything, it just takes a little longer.
  8. the new anchor is comparable to a d scimmy+defender its a bit slower, 2-handed, but has better stats. If you compare d scimmy+r defender with anchor: anchor has more str, less attack, a bit slower scimmy has more atk, less str I would call it a poor-man's whip it would be ideal for pking except it weighs like 20 kg
  9. Another option is to do the Between A Rock dwarf quest. Once you finish the quest you get access to a basically inexhaustable gold mine inside the special rock. You can give the gold ores to a boatman close to the site to take to the bank. I highly recommend getting the ring of charos (a) so that the boatman only takes a few of the ores as a fee.
  10. you can also just cut your oaks right AT the sawmill, it will take some time but oaks are really fast
  11. basically, always always use supercompost. If its a low-level herb, just leave it alone. supercomposted herbs usually live, and if it didn't cost you much, who cares. If its a high level herb or expensive, I'd recommend using the troll farming patch from my arm's big adventure quest. that patch is disease-free. If you don't have access to that, and you can't take a 20k loss from a ranarr seed, then you will just have to watch it. edit: for pineapples for supercompost, you can: 1) pick at karamja 2) buy from charter ship crew members (catherby docks is good location, right near a bin) 3) buy at tree-gnome stronghold (there are 2 stores that sell them on the bank level) 4) grow your own (if you can do this you probably don't need to be told where to find them)
  12. get 65 firemaking, do shade burning at mor'ton you need to do a bunch of quests first, but you can get a lot of clue scrolls and nice rewards. look up the "making splitbark armor" guide
  13. crops can only become diseased while they are growing... once they are fully grown i believe they are safe if you have done My Arm's troll quest, you get access to a disease-free herb patch near trollheim. When I'm farming, I try to plant my expensive herbs there as much as possible.
  14. torags special is complete garbage against npc's and in duel arena... Unfortunately, you can't wear full armor in castle wars, otherwise torag's effect might actually be useful. yeah so the only place where the torag set special does anything useful is the wilderness... except that can be kind of dangerous yeah, so unless you're a l33t pker, as i said... torag set effect is total garbage.
  15. have you been keeping your ratings up?????
  16. I think Jagex added one to Lumbridge several months ago, but I'm not sure. Thank you for the positive feedback everyone. i went to lumby and yeah, I'm an idiot. How long has there been a bank on the top floor? I always use the RFD chest, I never expected to find a bank on the top floor of lumby castle (awkward location anyone? If I owned a castle I would probably not run a bank on my roof)
  17. There are two main issues: 1) tons of people are going for skill capes now, especially in easy skills. This is particularly easy to notice in the price rises for items like raw lobbies, and of course, fletching supplies. People have noticed a drop in the prices of rares, which many people attribute to players selling their rares to "buy" their way to skill capes. 2) If jagex is indeed cracking down on macros (finally) it is going to take a huge chunk out the yew production force. Back when I was f2p a few months ago, I would cut yews north of rimmington (4 yew spot). At any given time, on any given world, there would ALWAYS be at least 5 macros, and sometimes as many as 20s. Seeing as they are cutting all the time, in every world, and in locations other than north rimmy, thats A LOT of yews being fed into the marketplace. I would often notice seeing macros all over the place with similar names(i.e. xgbfda, xgbfdb, xgbfdc, xgbfdd, xgbfde), which leads me to believe that a high-functioning macro-owner can run several yews at once, further increasing his yew supply. I don't know the statistics, and its probably impossible to know, but I wouldn't be surprised if over 50% of the yews coming into the market at some points have been from macros. So if in fact the macros are dying out, then you are going to have to deal with the some increases in yew, yew long prices. It may mean a harder market for fletcher and alchers, but at least some real players will benefit (woodcutters). Even fletchers don't have to suffer if they want to sell their yew longs at jacked prices.
  18. if you're not into thieving, ogres south of yanille drop ONLY seeds, and they are mostly medium-high level seeds (including watermelon). good for some prayer xp too.
  19. I might be an idiot, but since when did f2p have a lumby bank?
  20. they should add this to the official tip.it website. or at least pin it. whatever people say, this is definitely useful
  21. this guide/tip has nothing to do with cutting willows. a lot of people aren't reading what he has to say. his idea is as follows: 1) buy willows for cheap at rimmy 2) burn them 3) collect arrows in a conveniently located shop to make a small profit steps 1 and 2 were outlined in a recent guide by somebody else. this is just an additional tip for poor firemakers
  22. I see desperate woodcutters buy rune axes anywhere from 14k to 25k. however, it would take some time to sell them en masse
  23. there are people out there who have the money and will eventually get it, probably faster than herblore and some others
  24. cos its a quest long time ago, when I did that quest, when that quest first came out, it didnt do that, but it does now, but it makes it useless when you arent doing as part of the quest it works anywhere =p do it for fun \
