  1. Personally, I think this is the most interesting board on the forum. This is after all where all the good ideas end up. However -- before you post your bright idea, here's a couple of suggestions: 1. Make sure no one else has posted on the same topic in the last few days (at least check the threads on the first page). 2. What would it take to implement your idea? If it's going to make things more complicated, then perhaps you should think about it some more. *puts on Software Designer hat* Games get awfully complicated. The more complicated they are, the harder they are to program. The harder they are to program, the more bugs can creep in. The more bugs that creep in, the more unhappy the players get. Given that, sometimes the people designing the game don't see the simple solution. They have an idea, they know it will work *this* way and sometimes they don't see that it will work better *that* way. Keep It Simple!
  2. This has been suggested several times before. Most recently in this thread: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=492224
  3. Hugh_Mannity replied to a post in a topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Seeing as how at the moment there are only 267 players, out of the 1,000,000 on the high score table who have a smithing level high enough to make Rune plate bodies, skirts/legs and two-handed swords. I don't think there's a problem with them making more than the market will bear. At lower smithing levels, most armor (certainly almost all I make) gets hi-alched. If there's excess rune gear in game, then it's come from monster drops and treasure trails, not from Smiths. Don't add complications to the game. It's not worth the aggro.
  4. Locked as the OP's suggestion has effectively been implemented by notes.
  5. The size of the shop doesn't matter -- that's just pixels. What makes this idea, while a very good idea in theory, almost impossible to program is the number of variables that have to be considered. Would a shop be open all the time? Or just when the player who owned it was online and in the shop? If it's open at all hours how would you secure it against hackers and so on? In theory it could be done like the existiing shops in RS, but then you'd be stuck with a fixed price for an item (presumably set by the shop owner) which would rule out mutual trades and bargaining over price. Believe it or not, the current chaotic system works pretty well most of the time and doesn't require any programming or maintenance.
  6. Yep. This topic has strayed too far from being a useful discussion.
  7. Redundant. This post covers the idea in detail : http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=450486
  8. You've obviously not seen a skilled bullwhip handler in action. They have a longer range than a sword, and can slice down to the bone on a single stroke. I wouldn't want to take on a whipmaster with a sword. That's the sort of thing I want a .454 Casul for 8-) or failing that a crystal bow.
  9. Eh. Let your inner drag queen out -- after all it's only a game.
  10. This belongs in Help and Advice.
  11. Indeed. There has been a lot of F2P/P2P discussion of late. This thread is contributing nothing to the forum topic: Discussions and Suggestions. Nothing has been suggested other than the tired old: OMG!!11!!! F2P DESERVE PHR33 5T00F PL0X!!11!1! Therefore this thread is being locked. Any attempts to bring this topic up in this forum gain will meet a similar fate.
  12. Apparently so. Or else it was just having a Bad Hair Day.
  13. Nice idea. Only one problem: Social Security numbers are a US-only thing. It wouldn't work for the rest of the world. Also Jagex being a UK company, I'm not sure they'd be able to verify that the holder was 18+. I've wondered about the logistics of having an "adult" membership which would cost more -- $10/month -- and be only available by credit card payment (you have to be 18 to have a credit card). On the signup for membership, there'd be a disclaimer that you'd have to complete, stating that you understand that you're going to be playing on an adult world with no censor. Of course that would cut out people who don't want to (or can't) pay by credit card. Also I know more than a few 20+ people who are less mature and sensible than some of the teens I know, so that's no guarantee either.
  14. I've said this several times before in other threads. If it weren't for the adults who started the whole computer/video gaming industry about 30+ years ago, you kids would have nothing to play. The gaming industry began when computer geeks started writing games to (a) test out their programming skills and (B) because they were bored. Some games were written primarily to test out various computer features, some were written because the authors thought they'd be fun to play. I've been a gamer for 28 years. I have no intention of giving it up. I've written games, tested games, played games. Hey -- I can still beat my son and his friends at Magic The Gathering and I haven't bought any new cards in about 5 years. I have a very full and interesting life. I work, I raise my son, I'm active in the SCA, I do fiber arts (knitting handspinning, weaving, etc.) and still find time to read, keep the house clean (sort of) and play RS. About the only things I don't do are watch TV and spend my evenings in the pub. When you've done as much as I've done in my life so far, then you can tell me I have no life. Until then, keep your unwanted opinion about older players to yourself.
  15. Nice idea. One small quibble -- most fish in sushi is raw. Except shrimp and smoked salmon. Mmmmmm..... Smoked salmon.... now there's something they could easily add. Build a smoke house near a salmon fishing spot. Catch salmon go into smoke house. Use raw salmon with fish smoker.
  16. Nice idea. However, to be sucessful a random's got to be difficult enough to fool a macroer, but simple enough to be solved by a 1337-5p34|<1|\|6* 8-yr old. As you can see, that presents Jagex with quite a challenge. Chances are if the random asked: "are you a macroer?" and gave a choice of "yes" and "no" a large number of the 1337 players would prove their lack of eliteness by saying "yes". *I can not believe I actually typed this! :wall:
  17. Port Phantasmys. The boat boards from the pier just past the bank. You have to do have done the Rum Deal quest to get access to Mos le'Harmless.
  18. I got about 5 while I was pickpocketing for HAM robes for the quest -- I went off to do each one just because I needed a break from all that magenta. The first one sent me to Falador, then to Al Kharid. I got 46 body runes and a Sara page 1. None of the others was any good, but 80K from the Sara page made it worthwhile.
  19. On world 78 I've been able to make about 20 - 25 points an hour. On average I get a game every 2 minutes and win about 90% of games. How much XP you get in an hour from whacking portals and monsters is pretty variable. When you trade in the points you get your level squared, divided by 6. so if you're lvl 80 attack, you'd get (80*80)/6 =1066 XP. There's a +10% bonus on 100 points. Prayer is prayer level squared divided by 12. You also get 10x your combat level in GP every win. The cool thing is you can save up the points and get a huge amount of XP in one skill while you're training another. But it's not a lot of fun when you get a bunch of idiots playing who don't know what they're doing or who don't make any real effort to get the portals. One real important thing: CLOSE THE GATES!!!
  20. Contrary to popular belief, lime does not come from seaweed, it comes from limes. Also it has nothing to do with the glass making process. Its not lime you need... its soda ash. But lime is used to make the process go a little smoother... something about the compound liquifiying... and lime fixes that. When glassmaking first starting out... lime wasn't used... but today in big factories, it is. And it's not lime from the fruit either, but calcium oxide -- limestone. Wikipedia has a good article on glass making, if you're interested.
  21. World 78 FTW! Warrior helm Black dhide Klank's gauntlets Boots of lightness Whip Sara book carry dd(s) just in case. Go to east portal. Whack it. Whack a few monsters. Help out on any remaining portals. Game runs under 2 minutes from getting in the lander to getting back in it. I'm winning about 95% of the time. If you're doing the portal/monster thing, keep an eye on the status of the portals and the knight. If you notice one portal's not going down -- go attack it. Remember -- this is a collaborative game, none of us get points if we lose. FWIW, I've made at least 1,000 points at this game. I love it!
  22. Waaaaahhh!!! Hardly anyone noticed me. Attempt #1 Karil's, warrior helm, whip and sara prayer book. Got as far as the North Entrance to Al Kharid, when someone started begging me for coal. A second person was making all sorts of interesting comments in Italian, which I don't really speak, but I recognise "fantastico" in any language 8-) Walked the rest of the way to the Barbarians without incident. Walked back to Lumby on a different world. No one noticed me. Attempt #2 Changed into Dmed helm, rune platebody(g) and rune legs, heraldic kite shield, and D scimitar. Got as far as the bridge before some random dude said "nice!" About 10 paces further on got bothered by someone looking for the wizards tower. Not a seething mob of n00bs to be seen. Obviously I need a makeover.
  23. Less than 1.5 mil. to level 60 in 7 days. I chopped all my own oak. I wasted about 750K of that building the wrong rooms in the wrong places. I still have an ugly hovel, but I'll get round to decorating when I've got the rooms I want in the places I want them and the level to furnish them the way I'd like. Goal: All skills, including Construction, to level 70 by the end of July.
  24. Lol! it took me 700k to get to lvl 50.... But lvl 7 really isin't that usefull I made level 60 in 7 days and only spent 1.5Mill. At least 750K of that was money I spent unwisely -- on rooms I then had to tear down because they were in the wrong place. At level 31, when you can make carved oak dining tables for 360 XP and six oak planks, you can get some good power levelling going on. You'll need a servant (preferably the cook) to run oak to the sawmill for you, and have to pay her. But it's fast XP and works out at a fraction under 300 GP per plank. I cut the oaks myself (over 3K of them) and got about 12 nests 10 of which had tree seeds in them. Mind you, I did nothing in RS for 7 days except cut oaks, and build things. And one quick trip to do Tears of Guthix.
  25. Here's a quick note on Agility Training. 1. It's boring. 2. There's no easy shortcuts. 3. You can't buy XP in Agility 4. It's boring. Why do it? 1. Shortcuts 2. Increase in the length of time you can run for. Which is very useful. Until you reach level 30, you're pretty much stuck with the Gnomes' Stronghold Course, there are odd obstacles that you can use for XP, but the only way to train is to run round in circles till you're dizzy. Then run round in circles some more. The Gnomes' Stronghold Course is worth 86.5 points per lap. It's boring. What I did was set myself a target of either a number of laps or a number or minutes, grit my teeth and get on with it. I found that by being disciplined about it, I could get XP fairly quickly. At level 30 you can do the Agility Pyramid in the desert. There's a couple of downsides to this one: it's waaaaay away at the bottom of the world, you need waterskins or you'll die of thirst. It's a long walk or a fairly expensive carpet ride. There is however, a bank in Nardah which is a short walk to the NorthEast. Wear desert robes, take at least 8 water skins (full to start with) and the rest of your inventory in food. Each trip up the pyramid is worth 1014 XP and if you grab the gold pyramid artefact at the top, you can sell it to Simon at the bottom of the pyramid for 1K GP. So your first trip pays for your magic carpet ride and water skins, after that you're making money. It's fairly quick XP too. I found I could get in between 10 and 12 trips up the pyramid in an hour, depending on how often I fell or ran out of food and water. This meant that I was getting 10 - 12K XP an hour, plus 10 - 12K GP. I used this to get from about level 45 to level 60. The Brimhaven agility arena can be fun or frustration. Now that we have farming there's no need to do it for the Toadflax or Snapdragons. You can make good XP there, and the tickets cash in for more XP. The downside is you need to be over level 40 to do all the obstacles and some of them knock your agility down, so agility pots are pretty much a necessity. If you're lagging at all, don't bother with it, you won't be able to tag the pillars fast enough. At level 60 you can do the Wilderness Agility course. Excellent, fast XP, but with two major downsides: getting there and PKers. There's nothing more frustrating than being in sight of leveling up only to wake up in Lumbridge in your underwear! It's worth 571.5 XP per circuit, and it's very quick. And dangerous. Much more fun if you go with a couple of friends -- that way you have someone to watch your back. My favorite is the Ape Atoll course. The downside is that you have to have done Monkey Madness to be able to access the course and have a ninja monkey greegree to wield. When you've started the Awowogei part of Recipe for Disaster, you can teleport to Ape Atoll, which saves a lot of time and aggravation. It's worth 580 XP per circuit, is nice and quiet, you don't need a lot of food -- I took 5 baskets of strawberries, ran about 90 circuits to make level 68 and came back with 3 full baskets. And a kebab from my mate the Drunken Dwarf. And best of all: No PKers. So, to summarise: Levels 1- 30: Gnome Stronghold Levels 30 - 48: Agility Pyramid Levels 48 and up: Ape Atoll (assuming you've done Monkey Madness otherwise stick with the Pyramid until you can do the Wildy course.) Brimhaven and the Wildy course are fun to do with friends. This has been my experience, your mileage may vary 8-)
