As a general rule, I don't really get sick. If a bug that's going around affects me, it's generally only for 2-3 days, while it's hitting everyone else for 1-2 weeks. I'm not sure why, really. The one time I truly had something bad was when I had stomach flu. Basically, I had a bad headache, and took some advil. Didn't do jack, so I had some more. Apparently, it was too many for a normal person, which brings us to the stomach flu. That same night, not 4 hours after this, I was on the toilet with a bucket in front of me (toilet because my digestive system just felt that was the right time to purge, bucket because not all of it went south), barely able to move. After about an hour or 2 of this, I am emptied enough to be able to go from my house to the ER without anything slipping out, after which I had to go through some scans and them putting me on an IV drip, which I think was water, really. After I get back to the house, basically from then until around 2 nights after, I was basically experiencing what equates to a bad acid trip. While I wasn't in any bodily pain (at this point, I was barely even conscious when I was awake), I was seeing things that would probably put most sane people in a straight jacket for life without some sort of protection. After this, I was functional at around normal levels. It was removed entirely after a week from that point. That probably explains my resolve to never take any medication (legal or otherwise) for any reason aside from doctor-sanctioned necessity. Translated, the only drugs going into my system are by doctor's orders. It also probably explains why I hate the taste of Sprite now (what I drank to down the advil). Sounds fun, huh?

The rest of that post makes good sense, and I have to agree with it. The instant death penalty should be reserved for the cases where there is no doubt at all that the person done their chosen atrocity. However, the part above is where I see problems. Not all of these people are remorseful of their actions. Some, like the dude this topic's on apparently, don't care at all. Others, the ones I'm truly worried about, take pride and joy from their actions. These are the ones who I don't want to be around for safety purposes. Even the minimal contact that solitary confinement is too much for these. All others pale in comparison.

Two, Urbe's justification is that those who kill others for these random petty bull**** reasons aren't deserving of the air they breathe. Just as long as there's as little time as possible between the trigger being pulled and him being dead, the "cruel" part of the applicable Amendment doesn't apply. And besides, isn't it a lot quicker to blow someone's brains out to kill them rather than use some sort of concoction to cause them to fall asleep, then kill them? A lot less chance of something going raw, too.

It has been a couple years since I came to the conclusion that Evolution and Theism not only can co-exist, but they do. I say this as both a Christian and a very logical thinker. I know I can think in the way I'm describing in a fight because I've been in that situation before. Not where I had to kill him, but I did do things that would end the fight. Oh, and on the whole block/parry thing, I normally mix up the two when I'm talking of fighting. I rarely "block", most of the time I parry. The only time I block is when I 1) can't dodge, 2) want to catch whatever the opponent's hitting me with, or 3) want to open him up for something that requires having the opponent's striking limbs in a different position without me moving. I'm not exactly the best for resisting being knocked back when I do a full block. :?

You have no idea how the human body works, do you? Many shots are potentially deadly. You know that little indent directly below your nose and above your top lip? If you get hit there hard enough you will go into shock. If paramedics can't bring you out of shock in time, you die. Bet you thought you could just throw a punch anywhere on a persons face and the worst that would happen was a KO, right? Hell, even a KO can result in death depending on the environment. This is basically what I'm talking about. While my knowledge of these points is limited at best, in a life or death fight, I will try to open up a sufficiently wide window to do this at every possible juncture. And as an explanation of my "endless combo" comment, read the following. Say that you and I are in a fight. You take a straight left at me, I block and move to the right, then try and do a right uppercut into your solar plexus (I think that's the name of it, the spot that's right under your ribcage (can shut off your ability to breathe if hit properly)). You catch the punch, then haul back for a haymaker. I yank my arm back hard, bringing you back with it, then headbutt you as hard as I can. While you're disoriented, I take the bottom part of the palm of my left hand and hit you as hard as I can in the nose, coming from a downward angle. As this is a bone that I'm hitting, on the possibility that I can produce enough force, I can cause the bone to mess with your brain, killing you. This is all in the span of about 5 seconds, by my guess. See how it works? If someone grabs my arm, I take a swing with the other, possibly at the arm holding mine. They grab that, I go for a kick. It misses, I push all my weight back, bringing him down with me. When I hit the ground first, smack him with my forehead. There's various ways to keep up a string of attacks. In actuality, most fights are won because the victor never stopped for a breather. Unless if there's something that means I have to run, I probably won't. Get the picture? oh comon now thats cheating My list is for those cases where cheating is a non-issue, as it is your or someone else's life riding on whether you can win or not. Otherwise, the standard rules of equality apply. As in, if your opponent has something, you're allowed an equivalent of your choice. For example, if they have a sword, you can get a metal baseball bat or something similar, something lesser, or nothing at all. See how it works?

Answer to question 1) How easy is it for you to break bones/knock back an opponent with a strike? That's your damage output. Answer to question 2) Brass knuckles, sword, lead pipe, pencil, anything that can either focus your force to a point/line or adds to that force. Other than that, I got nothing. Oh, and for the record, don't act like an [wagon]. I used those terms because that's what I'm used to, and it is easier to type. Enough said.

I've only been in one real fight before, and that was a couple years ago. However, thanks to the recent insurgence of random violence (some random dude got beat to death over $50 on my old street, for example), I'm taking self defense classes. I'm only an orange belt in BASIC karate, but I'm not the easiest person to beat in my area. While my overall damage output without a weapon is deplorable, I can take an insane amount of damage myself. I'm also capable of seeing things that some other people wouldn't notice in a fight, which is where most of my serious damage comes from. As far as honor goes, the severity of how I fight is in relation to the situation. If it's some drunk, then I'll likely only do enough to either chase him off or knock him out and pass him to his buddies to let him sleep it off. If it's a fight for the life of someone I care about, then the best description of my fighting style would be "the endless combo". The only time I'd stop hitting my opponent is if he's either out of range or just out. Also, in that situation, I would try to have every single strike be potentially fatal or at least open that window. It's amazing how many different spots there are to kill someone, or cripple them to the point of them being useless in a fight. In the worst situations, I can be brutal, which is one of the few things that scares the {cabbage} out of me. :?

Simple human psychology. You're easily able to go to it at any time, so it doesn't seem as special. The rest of us have to pay out the [wagon] in both money and mileage in order to go, so it's very special. Of course, there's always a few exceptions, but most of humanity follows this trend. That said, I live a fairly short drive from 2 theme parks (Kennywood and Idlewild/Soak Zone), but I still love them. You do make a good case. In my opinion, lowering to 19 and mandating some REAL education about what alcohol does to your system would be very beneficial. Start mandating it at around grade 7, and keep it on for a good bit after. However, going over only the negative effects is counter-productive. There ARE some good effects of some SENSIBLE drinking, such as some bacteria that boosts your own system, among other things. Source: the episode of [bleep]e TV's Manswers which touches on how long someone can go on booze and water alone. And yes, it's hazardous to do that stunt. You'd die inside of 2 months for your efforts. :roll:
