  1. I don't think the cinematics really do a very good job for the replays, honestly. They cover some of it but a lot still gets left behind. Especially because they don't even seem to have them for some recent quests and definitely don't have them for the older ones. I think they should put the resources into quest replays now because the longer they wait the more its going to take in order to do it. Quests shouldn't be one time things when so much is tied up into them.
  2. I think using a prestige like system they could allow you to replay through them a bit easier. First of all they'd need to require that you reset your whole quest list, this way they don't have to worry about the exp because you couldn't just repeat the same quest over and over for massive exp gain, most quests aren't really very good exp for the time spent. Second when you prestiged the quest list, all quest items and reward items would be removed from your bank until you re-earned them during the quest. Also you'd lose access to any areas that require the quest to obtain entry. When listening to the podcast, all the stuff they mentioned only seemed like an issue if you were replaying 1 quest at a time because if you have to replay them all before you reset then exp isn't really an issue, and if you have to replay them all then they can actually take away all quest rewards you've obtained without causing issues. They also haven't said its impossible, they said they aren't working on it which is an incredibly stupid idea considering how heavily they seem to be pushing the lore now and how top-heavy the game has become. A lot of the players have been playing for a long time, I don't remember a lot of the quests I've done too well just because its been so long. They take several years to finish a quest-line and by that time it can be hard to remember the previous quests in the series. Certainly a blanket reset on quests would make things simpler, but some how I don't think 99.99% of people who want quest replays want to blanket reset all near 200 quests. And it still wouldn't be an easy task, there's a huge number of variables to be reset to revert quest related changes that probably couldn't all be altered without a serious load screen or forced log out. Then there's the huge thousands of items to be checked for in several places for removal to reset quests and the question comes then of where to draw the line: Should someone lose their stockpile of blisterwood stakes because they shouldn't have them? and If they don't what steps are then required to build in the exception and stop those stakes being used to shortcut the quests? Should all the Temple trekking rewards be revoked too and you have to re-level all of them? The vyre kills for boosting weapons? The list is just endless. Fair enough, it is a big list of things. But in many ways so are complete skill resets. A complete reset of quest list would be better than never being able to play a quest again. Complete skill resets have a lot of extra rewards to take into account such as POP, dunge binds, etc. I think with Jagex focusing so heavily on the lore, having no way to replay the current quests is a major weakness that they should be focusing heavily on fixing.

  4. Sliske possibly hiding out in the Eastern Lands? Might explain the look of the buildings in the october bts video teaser picture.
  5. Thats basically what they're doing. Dunge's 2nd prestige and up require 200m, and 15+ for other skills require 194m. Prestiges aren't capped. Also, I'm interested in what it will do to the basically stagnant lower-mid level markets. I also think that raising the costs on skilling items is probably good in the long run. Skilling is just so worthless in making money nowadays compared to other methods like bossing.
  6. I wonder how DG will work? Just 200m after the first time? Yes, Just 200m after first. https://twitter.com/JagexJack/status/388409120568537088
  7. Raising the level cap just makes the game even more top-heavy. Half the point of this is to make low-mid level content useful again.
  8. I was going to say the same thing but once (each way) per day. I would say turning it on should always be free, but maybe restoring your stats should be free once every day or every few days.
  9. Really depends how much, I think like 200k might be reasonable. Just acts as a minor money sink and small deterrent. If its a mill or more though its too much.
  10. I'm considering getting 99 div so I can have my comp trim back and then prestigeing them all. Would be nice to be able to gain levels in everything again. Also, I like cosmetics and overrides and emotes.
  11. I think it's more disgraceful that we live in a society that feels that everyone needs to be babied and sheltered to prevent them from making any of their mistakes in life. If someone messes up their lives by overplaying a video game, that is their mistake to make. Without making mistakes, we cannot learn from them, and trying to put everyone in a plastic bubble to prevent all the "big bag monsters" of life is doing more harm than good. Blame the right people when these things happen. It's like blaming McDonalds for having their coffee burn them. It's MCDONALD'S fault that you dropped the coffee on your lap and burned yourself, definitely not yours, how could you ever know the coffee was hot?! Stop using the McDonald's case as an example. The woman had 3rd degree burns. McDonald's had been warned many times before and still deliberately served the coffee way hotter than they should have. The woman originally just asked for about $18,000 for missed work and hospital bills and only sued when McDonald's refused. The jury looked at McDonald's history and decided to punish them for their negligence.
  12. No cap on prestige except human mortality How do you know?
  13. No cap on prestige except human mortality
  14. Then don't do it. Its completely optional.
  15. I'll probably use it. I'm not a fan of bossing so I kind of run out of stuff to do when I have my comp cape, but I like overrides and cosmetics. This will clear up both those problems for me. Its nice however that they've made it completely optional for those who prefer the previous highscores.
  16. Are you ranging or maging them? I've noticed bows at least an sometimes magic seem glitched and you only get the drops sometimes when using them. I don't know if its a glitch with the tag system or what. Same happens with bosses. So that's what it is? sometimes see the tagging on the enemy disappear but I can still fight them.. and then they drop nothing... The idea that its a flaw with the tag system is just a guess because it started happening when tag system came out. Only thing I know for sure is that sometimes mage or range will get you no drop from bosses or regular monsters
  17. So, getting the extra exp quicker is bad? You'd use up the pendant quicker however you're still getting the same bonus exp.
  18. Sous Chef is the 1% per piece type now. The list is wrong

  20. Yes. Yes it does. He's not doing that. It doesn't, but he's not doing that. It isn't and it isn't. We should have reason to. Yes, but that's not all. No, no, and no. Yes, I'm afraid we are. Really why should we expect less from Jagex than the level of WGS, or Legend's Quest, or Underground Pass? Making huge, revisitable dungeons/jungles full of senseless* elaboration is way preferable to copy-pasting an existing area and having it as a one-time instance. Quests are made by the Easter eggs, the elaborate surroundings and the potential to take a wrong turn and still do something worthwhile. You need to be able to immerse yourself, which doesn't work if there are inconsistencies, loose ends and too-narrow paths. For example, in Birthright of the Dwarves, I went to visit the Red Axe dwarves on Jatizso, or rather the king there, to verify some details. As it happens, the relevant dwarves were actually on the island, I was simply unable to speak with them (clicking 'talk-to' walks you over and then does nothing). The king, his advisor, the locals and even the royal cat had no dialogue whatsoever related to this quest. It's a Grandmaster quest, with no apparent ties to the world at all. Reasonably, I should've been able to talk to the king, find the captain of the ship and interrogate the crew. Hell, maybe I should have been able to re-route the ore shipments to my personal storage in Keldagrim, for a fair price of course (to be paid by the Red Axe). Now, for the chaos druid, I should have been able to choose: infiltrate the coven (initiation rites?), defeat the coven through combat (but stun the leading druid?), collapse the cave on top of them (save the druid? intercept them at their respawn point?) or maybe just bribe them (cash, items?). I should have been able to visit a few high-up Zamorakians (say, the mage who teleports you to the Abyss, Surok Magis, the witch who bound Iban to her service - for a full list see here) to get some further info or some authentic clothing. I should have been able to visit some Zarosians for background on Zamorak's curse, maybe find a way to mitigate it, I'm sure Azzanandra has ideas? Now Hreidmar says during the quest that he has 'given up'. This just drops from the sky and explains the shoddy copy-paste, but fails to explain the rather powerful (targeting!) cannons they have. If my cannon hit 3000+, I wouldn't be hiding in a near-empty hall with deranged followers and Grimsson, I would be camping Nex for epic loot and xp. Hreidmar had the resources to build a copy of the Consortium building, and the manpower, and he had a mind-wiping ogre and I don't know how many spies and supporters (Zamorak, for one, who has just returned even!), yet he's given up and everyone is OK with that. Surely, when a leader 'gives up', the ambitious second in command steps in and leads the assault, taking the throne for themselves? And so on and so forth. We, adventurers, know so many crazy/powerful/important people, there should be a hundred cross-references in every GM quest. *In terms of the quest storyline. That sounds amazing, and I must admit I was kind of disappointed when I realized that the solution to the spies was just checking their stories against eachother instead of heading out to Jatizso. I was ok with the Chaos Druids until you mentioned it, it did seem a bit too little for that part of the quest. I also think it could have been interesting to actually have a chance to cure the dwarves. Giving dwarves back magic might have been an excellent way to close out the series.
  21. I think the 26 quest of 05 were all meh old style click around for no real reason. To me by and large newer quests have been much better, even this quest isn't a bad quest in itself it just is not worthy of ending the series or being a grandmaster. I much prefer their current system whereby we usually get ~12 quests a year, yes this year has been a bit quest light but they have referenced that several times and readily acknowledge it alongside the promise of 'business as usual' as it were in the post-rs3 times, which excluding delays they have been keeping with DoC for August, BotD for Sept, Mpd for Oct and we have been told there are quests on the cards for nov and dec. I also think its unfair to try and make out we've been getting 'corridor' type quests and nothing else. Yes DoC, Botd and TWW fit this model, but there have been others like Bringing Home the Bacon and The Ariane quests that have had more room to manoeuver, plus with most of these quests being low-end quests it not too surprising they are tightly controlled. I'll admit that we have perhaps had too many 'corridor' quests of late, but I don't think that's all we've been getting. Thats fair I suppose. The Ariane quests combined would probably be in my top 5 quests. I really did love those. Though I think a lot of the 2005 quests were excellent. Maybe I just feel fearful because its been a while since we've had steady quests, once they actually start producing them every month again without huge delays and such it might seem better. I'd still prefer they shot for say 16-20 quests a year and if they fell short then we'd still end up with 12. One of the worst parts about them shooting for 12 a year is that its got nowhere to go but down. They won't shoot for 12 and accidentally do 15, but they could very easily shoot for 12 and end up at 9 or even 8.
  22. I don't know, I know its not really a reason behind this one but I kind of fear for the future of quests. We've been getting less of them, and they've been getting shorter. Now that they seem to have decided to voice all of the future god related ones thats just going to add one more complication. Sometimes the voices are really cool but I'd rather the quest got more resources dedicated towards making them longer and wider. Also, kind of sick of the mostly corridor quest types. It worked ok for Death of Chivalry, but honestly I even miss one small favour for those world-spanning quests. The fact that elf has been held up this long because they know it would have to be long and epic is also kind of sad to me. If they have trouble finding the budget for an ending to one of the most sought after quests, then that really seems like the budget is pretty bleak for future quests. I would love another 2005. There were 26 quests that yea last I counted. There were a few other updates sprinkled in but they really focused on the storylines. Thats what got me hooked on rs in the first place, and while they say they're focused on it, they don't seem to really be as focused on it as I wish they would be. They're aiming for 1 quest a month....there was a time when that would be a given, when 1 quest a month is the minimum and there were often 2 or even 3. But they seem to have let that slip.
  23. I agree with your overall conclusion, that the automated system is too unreliable to be used. However, I disagree on the offensive language side of it. Unless you're deliberately being abusive to another player to the point where they are uncomfortable and report you, I don't think that offensive language should be muteable. I've never understood why they give the option to remove the filter and then still mute people for offensive language. If its that offensive then just turn the filter back on and add the person to your ignore list. Only in the absolute most egregious instances should they actually mute anyone over it. If you're talking to a friend and they don't actually care, then why does it matter? Offensive language should never be an automatic automated mute. Regardless of merit the system seems flawed, since it has the inherent potential of catching a rather large amount of innocent people AND in all instances I know of it does not even allow for an appeal. This means they willingly let good players get caught between the wheels. As far as offensive language is concerned I can see your point, but like Kaida said: the filter does not catch a lot of things. To some people, and many friends of mine that doesn't matter, they believe in unrestricted freedom of speech and point out having to think about what you say is not fun and it is a game. Legitimate, but I personally want kids to be able to play this game without parents frowning on what they see and forbidding Runescape. This comes back to the argument of my last article before this: we need new players all the time, they are the lifeblood of this game. In my clan I do not allow swearing and cursing, or any other 'bad' language. I simply want people to behave themselves and be nice. Wile that is restrictive for the reason that I want no one to feel uncomfortable in a truly global community with so many ages , cultures and personalities there are 2 differences with this automated system. 1- it is human being checking it and we do not ban on sight, we look at the CONTEXT and talk to them. If someone shouts something bad after dieing and losing their stuf the correct reaction is not: 'Language', it is: 'sorry to hear you died". 2- People are free to choose weather to subject themselves to this rule or not, it is a democracy where people can vote with their feet. I must admit.. we ultimately can do the same with this game also though. Darn I am rambling allot.. I am stopping now and I hope many readers will react and discuss the articles! Yea, my clan doesn't allow bad language either. I have no problems with players doing it, or Jagex looking at the report and seeing that the person was being offensive to the person who reported it. The issue I have is with the automatic system. If you happen to be pm'ing a friend then I don't see why the automatic filter should get involved for language. If the person is offended they can report it, if not then Jagex should leave it be. Same with the friend chats and clan chats. I can see a reasoning behind public chat, however considering how dead many areas are nowadays, if you and a friend are in many areas it might as well be a pm cause no one else is gonna show up. Overall I think Jagex should bring more power to the report system and less to their auto-mute, so I think we're in agreement there.
