  1. keep making steel until 50
  2. further to what marnuke said, make 1k steel bars, trade them for bars and cash (each steel bar = 2 coal + 1 iron + 50 to 90 gp). there are a few traders that have this set up already, and it eliminates the buying and selling time so you can get back to more smithing. over time youll want to make your trades bigger and bigger because you get more gp per bar with bigger trades. youll never be short on ores and youll be making a good bit of cash by the time youre satisfied with your smithing level. plus, when youve done this enough, smith out your load of bars for even more exp, and alch the steel plates for even more cash youre 72 smithing so i wouldnt be surprised if youve done this before...
  3. my method is a bit different. you complete a barrows run on 4 pot doses?? how?
  4. i recomend minotaurs in the secruity stronghold. south room has good barriers and they drop iron arrows
  5. thanks... is that in the wildy by chance? and any other good earth rune droppers?
  6. simple question. i want a lot of earth runes, not sure whats the best dropper. i know trolls drop often, but not so easy to kill. any other ideas? thanks
  7. hmmm... very interesting idea... i dont think the poh was meant to be a strorage area. but it would be very useful and probably cause more people to raise their con lvl and suck more gp out of the economy? ftw...? lol
  8. goblins, cows, men in edgeville, dwarves, barbarians, minotaurs, monks my pure is 40 53 and i train on minotaurs almost exclusively. food is nearby, and nearly all the drops are stackable (dont bother with skulls, helms and daggers) i even pick up the ores in equal amounts for bronze, but thats up to you. minotaurs are 10 hp, so i can 1 hit a lot of them, no damage means no need to use food, i can stay longer per trip. they hit max 2 damage, but eventually you will have to surface for food at some time. its multicombat and they are not agressive and they respawn fast, so its simply ideal i'll give you one last secret, but this only works best if your range and mage is 40+ and your combat lvl is 40+. dark wizards south of varrock, absolute best to train on. at 40+ combat, the level 20s wont aauto attack you, so you can concentrate on the level 7s. with 40+ mage and wearing green chaps and vambs, leather body and coif and anti-fire shield, you have the highest mage defence possible with 1 def. you will take practically no damage and you can stay there forever, picking up tons of runes for mage training at a later time
  9. raise your attack as you raise str. keep them about the same or maybe withing 5 levels of each other. stop training attack at 40. a pure with 1 str makes no sense. at combat 57, realistically, you could have 82 str, 40 att, and about 70 hp (remember, your hp stat only gets 1/3 the exp of your other attack stats, so 99 str will not get you 99 hp at all). at this level you'd hit 22 max without pots with a r2h for armor, full bronze, full iron, robes, prince suit. it barely makes a difference. the best possible armor you could wear is iron plate, helm and kite, with green dragon chaps and vambs (40 ranged req)
  10. heres the basic progression of training from very early level 1-30: goblins/chickens/cows - lumbridge area 25-40: barbarians/minotaurs - barbarian village 40-50: skeletons/zombies - varrock or draynor sewers 50-60: hill giants/guards - edgeville area and dungeon 60-75: more hill giants/moss giants/white knights/random things to kill 75+ ice warriors/ice giants/lesser demons/ankous/other players :P something like that i would say stick to goblins, try your hand in the barb village but i have a feeling youll get owned there util you train up to about level 28-30
  11. i think your second idea is the most useful. just like in the settings screen you can split private chat, as well as under the chat box you can turn public chat off or on or to friends. in fact, you have total flexibility over how you view chat from other players, and absolutely no control over the in game messages. i think an extra button could be put under the chat window next to "trade/compete" and "report abuse" that says "status text" or something to that effect, and you could set it to on, skills, quests, off or some other settings i might have to think about i'd like something along these lines. the idea could be developed and possibly put in the game. it adds control to the chat window and wouldnt hurt the game at all, as far as i can tell
  12. oak larders and nothing else. if you have a servant (the cook will do just fine, cheaper that way) and your in rimmington site, chop 24 oaks at a time (hammer, saw, gp and axe in inv, fill up the rest with oaks). enter your house in building mode and send your servant with 16 logs to the sawmill. break down your oak larder and chill till she gets back. she will walk up to you and drop the planks in your inv, then give her the last 8 to the saw mill again. build and break down the larder twice, and by that time the servant will be back with your last 8 planks, build it one more time then dash out for more oaks. repeat till youve used up about 1.4m gp, and you should be 60 or very close
  13. theres also ice giants southeast of rimmington in the dungeon. they have great drops and big bones, and is the least crowded of the giant spots to my knowledge. walk with food and a fire staff, as the ice warriors and giants usually drop enough natures to let you alch most of the items worth alching
  14. if youre interested in a little extra def, get your 40 ranged ane wear green legs with your iron. green chaps are nearly 3 times better in defence than iron legs. yet its still not going to help any bceause your def is low anyway. 5 def is about 1.5 combat levels, not a big disadvantage, but steel is not really a big help anyway. its better to just stay at 1 def
  15. you cant alch yew longs in f2p, they are members objects. curse is popular in f2p because it makes use of all the body runes you end up with. if your rc lvl was higher you could load up on laws, nats and chaos runes. i think you should be able to make chaos runes at your level, so try to craft all that you can through the abyss (dont get killed) and train your mage on crandor on any monster you choose, they are all pretty good. the best mage exp in f2p is fally teleports and high alching. as a member you might want to get the most from camelot tele until your membership runs out. other than that, theres always fire strike lol
  16. i would love to see a world for mind runes and maybe one for blast furnace teams, but seems like theres never enough ppl interested in them....
  17. you are at the best level for making money in smithing. before lvl 74, youd be spending more than you make, after level 74 you now have 2 great options to make money smithing option 1: note, you can do this method at any level once you can smelt steel, i just put it here because its still one of the best options for f2p at any level. mine/buy enough iron and coal to make about 2k steel bars. smelt them in al kharid, then come on the forums and look for players who will trade your bars for ore plus cash. some players, like titan steel co pay more per steel bar depending on the volume of the trade. the reason i recommend this method is that you save lots of time because you dont have to try and merchant your steel then look for ore sellers, your steel buyer and ore seller is a single player, and you get the profit youd make from the sale right there. (of course, if you dont mind merchant and want 600 per bar, be my guest, but for serious smithers, its more important to get the trade done quickly and get back to smelting). your smithing level will go up at a decent rate, and it will make you a comfortable profit. plus you can reinvest for more ores and make more money per trade. option 2: warning: before you do this, i recommend lvl 80+ combat, full rune or green dragon and a rune weapon, and teleports (ideally bone sceptre), you will be in lvl 30+ wildy, near agressive monsters, and in a team-pk route. so beware. in your inventory should be your rune pick, a fire staff, lots of natures, a hammer and your tele method. i suggest wielding your rune scimmy, rather than walking up into the wildy with your pick in hand, for obvious reasons. the hobgoblin mine is one of the least known money makers for smiths. at lvl 74 you can make addy short swords which alch for 1249 gp, and is the best value per bar you get from addy until level 84. dont make anything else to alch. you have all the coal and addy youd possibly need. the great thing about the hobgoblin mine is that a little southwest is an anvil. so you can stay in the wildy as long as you want and not need to make bank trips for days, as long as you exercise caution. hobgoblins are agressive, but at a decent level they will hardly damage you, and havinng one on you frustrates pkers. in fact, you can continue mining even under attack, as well as superheat your items. and of course killing the goblin is also a good idea if youre taking more damage than necessary, as long as the coast is clear. basically, mine the 7 addy ores, then mine enough coal (42) to make them into. bars by that time the addy should be respawning, so simply repeat till full (3 rounds is 21 bars) then walk down to the anvil and make all into swords, and alch them out. you will make lots of money this way both ways are relatively slow to make money, but also very good for smithing exp. and takes advantage of the smithing lvl youve worked so hard to reach. more importantly, they are all pure profit methods
  18. there are no calculators on tip.it that can answer this question... yet i made a suggestion about it. hopefully there will be 1 soon...
  19. i wear full bronze (looks so noobish) and fighting boots, for -78 mage attack. i weild a earth staff to save runes, and still my mage attack is -68. my favorite curse spot is in lumbridge, just opposite the chicken coop is the cow field and you can curse the cow there forever. your magic will always splash and nobody else can harass your cow.
  20. i wouldnt recommend green dragons or mage bank. youd own abyss rcers around your level. perhaps you could kill rune miners too. also herb collectors in the edge dungeon. forget about varrock wild because a team of rangers would kill you in 2 seconds, and most strength pures around your level can easily max 22-23 with a rune 2h, with pots, so you might want to either get your hp up or use cheap ancient pk tactics to avoid getting attacked. all i can think of is killing people who cant fight back you know a pure ranger could easily kill you with a single msb special, right? thats probably another reason why you dont want to post your rsn,...? :-s
  21. i think ring of life also works up to level 30. you cant use glories or jewelry teleports while under attack, but rol is automatic once youre wearing it
  22. even though you make 300k, the items you got rid of probably were worth about 3-4 times that amount. rune scims alch for 15,360. im sure you actually lost over 1mil gp selling to shops and hi alching items, and dropping items with no shop value. you could have kept them and still have your bank fully stocked up there is absolutely NO reason to try to get rid of anything in your bank if youre leaving members. i have a full bank, and i have over 100 f2p items that i can use and store. you only have 60 spots. its actually possible to store over 300 f2p items in your bank while youre f2p, and you never lose the value of your bank.
  23. ogres til 60, fire giants til 70. simple. blue dragons in taverly is horrible. youll hardly get any targets because of high competition, and youll want to bank to often if you are getting targets. my favorite place to range ogres is under the clocktower south of ardy. 3 ogres in a little basement rom, with walls and broken furniture that provide perfect safe spots. no food necessary. also, theres the bunch of ogres southeast of castle wars and near yannille if you like. for fire giants, waterfall is hard to beat. even though its crowded pretty often, its still a lot of ogres there and usually you will get a target all the time or with very little wait its actually great to train range with slayer, especially after 50 (i think) when you can kill bloodvelds. very good for range exp as well, and good slayer exp. fun to kill all round
  24. click the link in my sig. i wrote a guide concerning this
  25. runescape already has too many skills. we could do well to get rid of prayer, theiving, firemaking, farming, construction and probably herblore. and get rid off rares merchanting ftw! lol jk
