  1. All my gems are cut. I always cut them before I bank them. I want to craft them into something, either rings, amulets, necklaces, bracelets or bolt tips. Which of these options would get me the best value or most usefullness of my gems?
  2. I have a few hundred sapphs and emrald, over 100 rubies and a good bit of diamonds. I can craft or fletch anything with them (have the levels) but I need some advice on what's the best thing to do with them, not for exp, but best usefulness or best monetary value. Thanks.
  3. Dude, beatiing barrows is 2 parts: killing the brothers in their crypts, and running through tunnels to get the chest. Since you're new to barrows I suggest you pray against all the brothers and use wind wave. Use magic attack against all the melee bros and karil, and range with rune cbow and addy bolts against ahrim. I suggest best pray bonus in the crypts, and best melee armor (rune is fine) in the tunnels. The final brother you meet remember to switch back to mage attack and drink prayer pots. Also, take at least 4 pray pots since your prayer lvl is pretty low. The higher your prayer lvl the more pots benefit you
  4. i would strongly recommend you use miscellania and entrana as your source for coal, plus a secondary income (like fish, herbs or maples) to recycle money back into your coffers. that would solve your coal problem. mining iron to 96 is a ridiculously tedious task. i dont have anywhere near the patience to take on something that boring and repetitive. at some point youll want to switch to other ores to break the monotony. also sc pickaxes would speed up your mining plus allow you a few needed breaks to play steacling creation. just my 2cents
  5. my cheap setup: i wear monks robes, god cape, neitz helm, mystic boots and gloves, broodoo shield (+5 pray), explorer ring, unholy symbol and slayer staff. in backpack, home tele, spade, runes for slayer dart, black dhide body and legs, rune cbow, rune plate and legs, dlong. then pray pots and food (swordies are fine) pray on everybody, mage everybody except ahrim, switch to range for him. then equip melee armor to run through tunnels super cheap and quite effective. you save on equipment but use up more pray pots (about 4-6 doses per trip). raise your prayer and you use less
  6. When my hp is low I have to think about too many other things, like eating, switching on prayers or running. People who are being dominated by a strong attack usually panic and die.
  7. You probably won't specifically find a guide for a 20 def pure because they aren't popular and quite frankly never got a lot of respect from "true" pures. What you really need to know is how to raise your str and ranged lvls, and what to train on. I also have an f2p pure hybrid with 75 str and ranged. And I only train on 2 monsters. That's it. For str I train on minotaurs. The lvl 12s have 10 hp and hit 2 max. I can 1-hit them more than half the time. They are ideal for low def pures like mine because they are not aggressive, they respawn fast, they hit low, and they drop heaps of arrows. These free iron arrows are the only ones you need to train with. Sell the noted tin, copper and ess they drop. Since you're higher def in full mith a full pack of tuna should last youeven longer than me, and I collect over 3k iron arrows per trip. With your iron arrows there's only 1 monster you need to train on: dark wizards south of varrock. They drop runes in abundance, and will splash against you most of the time in your best ranged gear and power or def ammy (I prefer power). This is the only monster I train ranged on. If you get bored or need a change of scenery, then go with hill giants or lesser demons. I never train at lesser demons, but your better def would probably mean you could deflect more attacks while picking up your drops. Plus I find the competition, location and the fact that lessers have high def makes it even more inconvenient. Look up other regular pure guides for tips and methods to getting your levels up to become more deadly
  8. So full void is better against stronger monsters because of harder hits and the effect doesn't degrade? And sc coif better against low def monsters where I can get fast exp for a short amount of time? I got that right? Ok specifically I'm training my ranged on slayer tasks. Some tasks I can't use either because I need slayer headgear. I'm at red dragons right now with full void and I can definitely appreciate the higher max hit. Plus my sc helm would have run out of charges before the task is over so I'll essentially have to be recharging it after every single task I use it for. That's not that bad, I'll can take a break from slayer and play stealing creation for a few hours no big deal. I guess the best solution is knowing what monsters are best to range with void and what's best with sc coif
  9. I have both the full void and a sc helm with extra points for recharging. Using the sc as a coif plus full black dhide gives me 60 ranged attack bonus. Wearing full void gives no ranged bonus but a higher possible max hit. I figured this might have been discussed before but I couldn't find any threads on it. Maybe its too old of a topic. Which is better in terms of overall better offense and damage rate?
  10. I have full void, and 60 slayer. I also have 77 smithing. My smithing is that high because I take every opportunity I can to train it. I don't ever sell bars. I used to trade steel bars for cash and ores to make more bars. I also gather almost all my raw materials myself because I like training all my skills (well most). Its my way of playing. I'm not going to buy any ammo, I'm going to smith these bars, and I'm going to make them into ranged ammo since I'm focused on slayer right now and I like using ranged to do my tasks. I'll test out all 3 options myself and see which one I like best.
  11. With your house in brimhaven, you can make the first room a quest room (I knocked out my parlor and made my quest room there) with a mounted glory the edgeville teleport drops you right at bank door. Its closer than falador but requires one extra click
  12. Remember I'm not buying anything. Broad bolts and buying stuff isn't even part of the question. I'm making my own ranged ammo out of my own mith bars. I just wanted some advice before I start hammerng them out I think I'll make 1k darts and 1k knives and see which one I like using better. I already have over 3k bolts and I don't like them because the crossbow is just too slow. But if I hate knives and darts more then I'll definitely go back to bolts. At least I'll know from first hand experience
  13. Hmmm.... You probably won't get 99 prayer either. You could stock up on ranged ammo, pray pots, food and train for 99 ranged. Get to 90 on yaks, experiments, rock crabs or whatever other fast method you want. Between 90 and 99 you'll more than make that money back if you hunt avianses or dragons or dust devils or some other profitable monster. Herblore is another skill you could probably get to 99 with 14m. You don't money for agility, except for food, and any melee 99 is profitable
  14. I'm planning to raise my ranged skill. Its my primary method for doing my slayer tasks for the next few months probably. And I have like 500 mith bars in my bank and I can make my own ammo. I made bolts before and I still have about 3k of them. But bolts are so stinking slow. Both knives and bolts are the same speed and like 3-4 shots for one bolt fired. I can't possibly see how bolts could possibly have a faster overall damage rate than knives or darts. Since I'm making my own ammo, I'm thinking darts are my best bet, considering that I can make 10 per bar. But knives are slightly more accurate and higher damage, but not enough to justify half the quantity I would end up with. Even though I'm still leaning towards darts, I just want some opinions from experienced rangers. Remember, I'm not making them to sell, and I already have all the materials, so cost and profit isn't an issue.
  15. If you like the gambling aspect of monster hunting, then barrows. Theres the possiblity of making over 10 mil in an hour (which I did once) or 50 runs dry spell. Don't even ask for gp/hr. There are quite a few methods for doing barrows, and you get to train melee and mage and even a little ranging if you want.
  16. Here's how I went about locating my poh. I stayed in rimmington in the early times up until lvl 52 construction, then at that point, with other things to train I didn't really even use it that much. When I did freminnik trials and took over miscellania, I was up their everyday to keep my approval up so I moved my house to relleka. Its also close to neitiznot and the slayer dungeons. Recently I did smoking kills and adopted sumona as my slayer master so I immediately moved to pollniveach. As long as I'm focusing on slayer mainly that's where I'll be until something else comes along
  17. I think 70 pray mightnt be worth it. The battle would be long over by the time your prayer drains. Whip + dds is a good combo, but watch out for high mages at your level Btw, what was your method to train str to 99?
  18. Hey, we're only making suggestions because you asked. If you thought your method was good enough as it is you wouldn't have asked, right? If you think all those pizzas is the best use of your inventory space, then stick to your method.
  19. You could switch your ring of life for explorer ring for +1 prayer and +1 mage att. If you use a rune crossbow you could hold on to your prayer book while you kill ahrim. And I would definitely get a obby shield and whip and drop 2 food spots for 2 reasons. 1 if you're tanking torag and guthan, you don't need the prayer bonus and the extra def will help a lot. 2 running through the tunnels a melee weapon will double your speed. I'd take a whip like everybody suggested. If you already make 4-6 trips an hour then you're already doing great with your setup
  20. In a rare incident of freak luck I got 5 items in 4 trips, making me over 10 mil in an hour! First trip dharoks helm, next karils crossbow, then another dharoks helm, and finally ahrims hood and skirt in same chest omg woooott! But I see all my trips as profitable because I make my own supplies (pots, addy bolts, tuna potatoes) and I use the runes I get in the chest, so whatever cash and runes I get is all profit to me, not to mention the combat exp.
  21. I would do water gloves instead. More rc exp for the same price. I don't like earth crafting because earth runes don't help me teleport to anywhere that's near a bank. You could tele to water altar, craft and tele back to fally west bank in about 15 seconds or less.
  22. As for the question of equipment setup, here's what I used to wear wheni just started barrows at around combat 82 (a bit higher than your stats, and I had 55 slayer) Monk robes, mystic hat, gloves boots, broodoo shield and unholy symbol for an extra 13 prayer bonus, God cape and slayer staff. I also wore ring of life, but now I wear explorer ring for an addition prayer and mage point. And I used addy knives for ahrim along with black dragon body and chaps. Running through the tunnels I just equiped d long and granite shield and that was it. Very cheap, did the job. Cost me about 2-3 potions a trip. Inventory was ectophial, spade, deaths and minds, then my range gear and shield, then 4 pots, and the last 16 spots with sharks (later with swordies as I got more confident) Right now my setup is different, I wear veracs and don't pray for guthan, torag or verac because my def is super high, although the mage penalties mean I sacrifice my mage offense for melee defense. I'm still looking to tweak my style to make my runs faster. In the tunnels defense is your friend, so I'd recommend rune or raise your def lvl or stick with really good food. At your level the tunnel monsters may create problems if you stop to kill them. Beyond that its just luck and practice and you'll be enjoying the rewards
  23. I would strongly recommend getting your magic and prayer higher. The only barrows brother that is weak against range is ahrim, and a range lvl much lower than yours can easily take care of him. Prayer pots restore about 40% of your max prayer, so the higher it is the more your pots will benefit you, the less you'll need per trip. Mage is very effective against all the other brothers, including karil (which is backwards of the combat triangle), and is your best friend in barrows next to prayer. Yes you can make 5m a day. I actually was extremely lucky once and made 10mil in about an hour (5 drops in 4 trips) but that's extremely rare. If you play there about 2-3 hours a day, and become efficient (15 minutes per run average) you should average about 3mil a day over the long term. At your level, I'd get mage up as much as possible. Also, check out avianses, which is actually more favored to rangers like yourself, and the money is very good there as well.
  24. I ignore treasure trails. The junk ratio is way too high for the amount of time and effort involved. I ignore all remote areas (elves, south of castle wars, deep karamja, behind ecto village, desert) except relleka region which I love I ignore theiving, firemaking and farming. I absolutely refuse to spend any time at all trying to level up these skills If quests weren't so distracting I'd do them more. I like them, but I only do the ones that align with specific goals I'm working on at the time
  25. If you have a lot of runes to craft (like 10k ess or so) then you make back up the time lost in gop by the speed you can actually tele back and forth. In f2p you once you run to the altar once that's it for your energy, you have to walk the next 2 trips for ýour energy to refill But that's besides the point. The guy is building a pure, not a skiller. On top of that its not even a mage pure. So runecrafting in the first place is a waste of his time entirely. Unless he has 44 rc or better the profit is tiny over the time he spends rcing. He could be using his combat skills to earn him the financing. I would personally recommend hunting minotaurs. My lvl 60 pure can collect about 100 tin ore, copper ore, 250 ess, 3k iron arrows, 3k gp plus a few uncut gems with one inventory of tuna. I use the arrow to train my range, plus the other items is just extra profit. Not to mention all the str exp I got during the time there
