dude buying ans selling coal will not give him any smithing exp if you want exp and cash, ask for it. make, say, 500 steel bars. dont forge the,. come on the forum and look for a thread where somebody is giving free exp and cash (they trade each steel bar for 2 coal and 1 iron ore and 25-60 gp) say you get 50gp per bar, plus ores, youd make the smithing exp for smelting 500 steel, plus youd make 25k in cash. make the ores into more steel and trade again. each trade you make more exp and more cash. at some point buy/mine more ores and make more bars for more cash and exp per trade as fantastic as it sounds, smelting steel only gives like 17.5 exp. so its like 8.7kexp when you make 500 bars. sounds good? at your level it is, at higher levels it sucks. but at least you can do this method untill you can make mith plates at 68 and explore other options. at least by then youll have cash and a lot more smithing/mining exp
  2. because your mage lvl is so low, my advice would be to use air blast (or train to 62 (i think) to to air wave. with air blast all you need is an air staff and a chuck load of death runes (air staff comes in handy for cammy teleport, 1 law rune alternative to ectophial) if you can afford mystic, wear it, as well as god staff and prayer book if you have (+5 prayer bonus). if you dont have a prayer book, any broodoo shield also give 5 prayer bonus and are pretty easy to get/make. wear a god cape and magic or glory for max mage attack bonus. youll kill the 4 melee bros and karil very easily with that setup, even using a noob spell like air blast (if you have fire runes to burn, by all means use fire blast) when you get to ahrim, youd need to change into your best range gear, using the best arrows you can (or knives even better, and keep the shield/book equiped) ring of wealth is useless, it doesnt increase your odds of a good drop. wear a ring of life instead. ive been saved by it a few times. youll most likely recover all the runes you used up in killing the other bros last tip, keep your eye on your prayer level. this is a mistake a lot of new barowers make, by allowing their prayer to drain and not potting. even with a high prayer bonus clothes, your prayer drains faster than normal in the crypts and the tunnels, so be sure not to get surprised, drinking a pot during battle can cost you time and your money (by losing your stuff) if your prayer runs out
  3. the beauty about the karamja docks is that the best fishing spot in f2p is also the closest source of food to the best hunting grounds in f2p. you have lesser demons, 3 flavors of skeletons, moss giants, scorpions, hobgoblins and red spiders, just a few clicks away, in one of the most scenic spots in f2p. thats where i used to vacation after hard hours of sweaty smithing in the hot al kharid desert. i miss those days :)
  4. one of my favorite guides is d's multiple item guide, how to get multiple quest items. i have axeman's slayer guide and satenza's low level barrows guide printed out. then there my own non-archived guide (link in sig hehe), im back in f2p so i checked it out, sometimes i hop between membership and free i'm currently working on a smither's guide, but i'm only level 73 so i have a LOOOONG way to go before i can finish that. i'd also like to see an exhaustive compendium of money-making methods, almost like an encyclopedia, contributed by many people. theres one on sal's runescape site, and its a great resource. maybe something like that would be great on tip.it too
  5. didnt notice the log out button, but the chat delay had my bugging for a bit, i thought it wasnt taking my text or my keyboard wasnt working. im sure lots of other quirks will be noticed. but we'll get used to it
  6. dude ... shut up  the whole idea is that i high alch while waiting for something to respawn, a rock, a tree, something on the ground thats why i said you cant do anything BETWEEN hi alching, you do hi alching between something else. ummm... its right there, where i said it

to me, the only skills that 99 really makes sense to get is in strength, range, prayer and smithing. i dont care about theiving and firemaking at all. i like high agility for the energy restoration, i suppose hp for maximum damage survival, all other skills max out before they get to 99, so 99 in those are pretty pointless except for bragging rights or whatever
  8. superheating steel is not faster than al kharid furnace runs. and its way too costly. superheating makes sense from mith and up, and i still use the furnace for mith once in a while. if youre a member, then port phatasmys furnace beats superheating even for mith
  9. buy raw fish. anything raw you could get your hands on from trout up will get your fishing level up. the nice thing about fly fishing is that at your level youll never burn anything you catch in the river, so its pure exp. i think with cooking gauntlets you can also cook up to lobbies at your level and never burn them. offer like 120 each for raw tuna, im almost certain people will be glad to give them to you. most swordie fishers drop their tunas anyway, so im sure they wont mind collecting cash for them instead
  10. if your combat is like 40 or higher, the varrock wizard circle is one of the best places for bones because lots of ppl kill them and leave the bones on the ground. same thing for the edgeville barn, lots of pures training on men and leave the bones because they dont want prayer
  11. i cant see why people have a problem with this. simple asking for somebody to be their bf/gf is not item scamming, and its not trading items for real world goods or services. in fact its no different than giving a free gift to a friend in runescape, just for being a friend, and theres no rule against that as for weddings (and divorces, i guess), its just part of the social aspect of the game, and thats a part of nearly every mmorpg out there. its a role playing game, and people meet other people via the internet through this medium. its also a chat, hang out site, market and lounge, all in one. people are somehow gonna hook up theres no way it should be bannable, or even raise eyeborws of people not involved. i have never heard of somebody coming on this forums saying they got scammed by a golddigger girlfriend or or a pimp boyfriend. maybe it happens and people dont say anything, but there are much more serious things in the game to worry about than who's having a rs wedding. most of the time the bride and groom know its nothing serious, and its the on-lookers and busy-bodies that complain about it that are taking the game too seriously. i say leave the people let them play the game the way they want. it doesnt affect you and it doesnt break any rules
  12. 11 months playing and now i have 2.5 mil cash, the most i ever had. maybe worth about 3.5 mil 1m p00r! :( fr33 st00f pl0x0rz!!11!
  13. actually, i dont think you get double the exp, but you get a bit more mage exp than regular hi alching. ppl alch outside of the training arena because they want spendable bankable cash, not just extra exp and cool infinity stuff. it depends on what you want i alch at any bank im at. but i dont do a lot of alching everyday, maybe one big alch project once every other week i guess. i dont know if people alch that often, like everyday. but i'd definitely stop by if there was an official alching place
  14. you can also get a random gem rock in the tai bwo wannai minigame. if you cut away jungle bush all he way to the ground theres a chance youll find a gem rock and you can mine 3 gems out of it. check out the village clean up minigame guide on the tip.it main site
  15. No idea what you just said. But here's at least one thing you can do between the alch animation and the next click, hold off the next click and do anything!! true. you could high alch something, then go do a quest, a barrows run, maybe cut a pack of yews or buy a mask set, then alch something else. or you could start alching, log out, go make a sandwich, do your homework, watch the news, do the dishes, and log back in and keep alching maybe i didnt read the question correctly
  16. this whole topic is dumb. you cant do anything BETWEEN hi alching. unless you mean doing hi alching between something else. hi alching is constant clicking, theres nothing you can do between the alch animation and the next click.
  17. it does. barrows brothers, ghosts and ghost robes, as well as some magice effects like ice barrage, use that same alpha blend effect (or at least a pretty good imitation) to make a semi-transparent effect. for the fog effect it would be the same thing. the edge of the minimap would fade to white, with mybe 2-3 layers of fog gradient. it already exists in the game, its certainly not impossible
  18. if youre serious about smithing, you shouldnt have to think twice about getting a rune pick. GET ONE!! you need to get your mining up to 60 to get into the mining guild if youre going to be doing high smithing later on. your first target should be 48 to make full steel armor. mine coal in barb village or scorpion mines in al kharid. if you can get there off peak times when competition is less, do it. bank everything. also mine iron and silver in varrock south west mines. forget about bronze completely. when you make steel bars, hammer them into steel items, and try to sell them to specialty shops. youll have to do a lot of running around for ores, furnaces, anvils and shops, but youll see that goal getting closer and closer, and it will come faster than you expect. finally youll be able to make steel plates. congratulations! when you achieve 48 smithing youll realise that full steel is absolutely worthless on the market, so your new goal will be level 68, for full mith. by this time your mining should be above 50, hopefully above 55. mine all the mith and coal you can. use the falador mines and the lumbridge swamps for your coal and mith, but also keep a good stock of steel in your bank. by this time forget about iron smithing, unless youre a member by then. once you get to level 60 mining, this is your plan to get your smithing up. mine about 4k-5k coal in the guild (mine mith if you can too). buy 2k iron (or mine it if your patient enough (or pick up in al kharid from power miners) ) and make 2k steel bars. your smithing would be about 53 by then, your mining maybe 64-65. now, with over 2k steel in your bank, come to the forums and check out one of the traders that offer cash + ores for steel bars (like TITAN steel co). trade your 2k steel for more ores and cash. with the cash you should buy more iron, and mine more coal to match the iron you got. each trade you should increase in size by a few hundred bars, till by the time you have about 5k steel, youre level 68 smithing. now you can make mith plates, congratulations! once you get to level 68 and you realize that full mith is absolutely worthless, you have 2 choices. just say **** it and cash out all your bars and ores and change your profession (fishing, woodcutting, merchanting, or if your a member, lots of other options) OR, do like me and keep smithing. youll be above level 70 mining and pretty rich (and maybe about 6-8 months older). the next step is addy, and thats a whole different ball game, bro. smithing is my favorite thing in rs, mining is my highest non combat skill, and i'm still sticking to it. i'll be more than happy to lend any tips or support i can in the game, so feel free to add me. ill be coming back to f2p in a few days and its always nice to work with other dedicated smithers. good luck with your goals
  19. you have to remember that you wont find at least 5 people killing lessers in every world 24/7. in fact, i'd say youd find 5 people or more at lessers (including under crandor) maybe for 10 hours a day on average. very often on off peak times theres nobody there, or 1 or 2 people for the most
  20. Only a suggestion, making it just an update would be good to keep the F2P happy for a while. shade Bandyt, you wanna write my opening paragraph? you seem to be a better writer than me at getting people to understand. i made a suggestion to jagex once before and never got any response from them so i'm not a big fan of the suggestion thing, but if it has worked in the past then i'll be happy to help. i think we could get wizardio4 to help too, since he's an official forum mod. you ever took a look at the official suggestion forum? its a mess, but if any of those ideas are considered for updates, then i think this is a great idea that will make the game more fun. wizardio, what would we have to do to propose this effectively for the game?
  21. without hi alch id sell my training goods to the general store for less cash. everything else would be the same i guess. to me it wouldnt make the game much different. then again theres always low alch
  22. using the al kharid furnace you should be able to make 300-350 bars per hour. my setup is like this: no armor except maybe my favorite boots, cape and hat, in my inventory, 1 chisel, 9 iron bars, 18 coal. the chisel is weightless and very often if you get a random, you have a decent chance they give you an uncut gem, so it speeds up deposit time for me to cut and bank (i only bank cut gems) for each trip you withdraw all your ores as i mentioned, then you walk to the furnace, which is one click away. click on the furnace, right click on the steel and select 'smelt 10'. when youre done hold down the ctrl key and click bank (its a shortcut to running without having to switch to your movement screen), this will let you run back to the bank with your bars. only run on your way back because youre about 60% lighter than on your way to the furnace, so your energy lasts for many more trips than if you run both ways. like the othe guys said, when you get to the bank screen, youll have 1 chisel and 9 steel bars and exactly 18 free spaces. witchdraw all coal to fill up the 18 spaces first, then deposit 10 steel (or all steel, same thing) into your bank and withdraw 10/all iron. 3 clicks and youre ready for your trip back to the furnace. this way you should be able to easily do over 300 bars an hour, and to my knowledge its the fastest way to make steel in f2p
  23. the only think that really matches the zammy red is a santa or the red and white jester hat, scarf looks nice with it too. i dont think any boots matches that red, the canifis red boots, gloves and cloak are actually kinda maroon. the red stripe in a zammy cape matches the red zammy robes nicely, but thats red and black you could do zammy robes, zammy cape, black mystic boots, gloves and hat, fire staff and str ammy, and maybe obby shield, for a full red and black look 8-) edit, i just read somebody else's response. dragon med helms match good too, and if you happen to have a dragon square and any dragon weapon, its the perfect red match
  24. well, i guess another way to look at it is, any spell you can cast on another player only in the wilderness, can fail. in other words, only attack spells can fail, and you'll know if its an attack spell if you try to cast it on a player and it says "you cant attack a player thats not in the wilderness"
  25. ok thagern, i understand the locked item idea then. of course, if somebody wanted to do a fish sale but keep the spot so the bank will remained organized, they could just sell 1 less fish than they have. keeping the bank organised would be worth the few gps less on the sale without that 1 last fish. meh, its a personal preference thing. i think that there wont be much difference if this is implemented than the way it is now. i like the way the bank is now, but of course your idea is an improvement. my only point is the new bank page could make it 10 times easier or 10 times harder for people to use their bank. sorry to be negative, its a great idea, but like most things jagex update, thinking its a great idea, they still get a lot of complaints, and sometimes for valid reasons. so keep that in mind
