OMG! Stop the GP inflation!
well, not really. i think its safe to say that jagex NEVER INTENDED for money making in runescape to involve investing it items that are predicted to rise continually. i think jagex had every intention of rewarding people with skill-based and risk-based WORK, not investments. not only that, but there would be no way to predict that dragon bones and prayer pots would be the items rising. the beauty of an open economy (no monopolies) is that if dragon bones rise suddenly, youll find LOTS of players killing dragons to benefit from the price [bleep]e, and what happens? the market is flooded with bone sellers and the prices go back down in fact, investments would be scarier than ever. if cavs and berets were the primary items merchants invested in, then there would be sudden crashes when jagex release things like infinity hats and wizard hats (g). the problem would be that the "most valuable" item could flip at a moment's notice with the new update and new fad, and it would make this type of investing too risky for too many people my point is that the rate of inflation itself would not be so high. if the most expensive item was under 10 mil, then lots of people would not be as motivated to hi alch 2k magic longs. once somebody made 10 mil and bought the best item there is, they would work on other aspects of the game, because there is no real influence to produce billions of dollars. of course there would be some multimillionaires, but i can bet you that money creation would not be half the rate it is if there were no rares at all yes, i am aware that the rising cost of rares absorbs the rising amount of gp being circulated. this has already spiraled out of control as the prices will continue to rise, and more gp will be created AS A RESULT, and the prices will rise AS A RESULT and so on. the rise of the price of rares is directly linked to the urge of players to hi alch at ridiculous rates, and the amount of gp in the economy is directly linked to the rare price increases, so each feeds the other with no break in sight. my take is that there would be less gp being created, because there would be no escalating price commodity to chase, and no powerful demand. there would be no real cash investments, and there would be significantly less gp in the ecomony overall. wealth would be based on assets rather than cash. people would spend their resources on skills rather than gp profits. inflation would be at a much more "natural" 3-4% per year. thats the way i see it if rares were never in the game in the first place

Lvl 18 combat wearing full DRAGON (no square)?!?!?
interesting you guys mentioned ring of recoil. does killing a monster with recol give exp? wouldnt that be like weapon poison or something? i dont think you get exp for damage by recoil ring

OMG! Stop the GP inflation!
exactly bloodveld. and the price of barrows is justified because its the best combat armor in the game. i mean, youd expect that rune is more expensive than iron for the same reason. so if barrows is way better than rune armor, then its reasonable to pay way more. but barrows expenses dont affect everybody, and neither does the other big money sinks. all these costs are optional and only applies to a few people, and they dont have to pay if they dont want to
-
OMG! Stop the GP inflation!
because there are no real money sinks (like taxes and expenses) that affects everybody, then regardless of how you play, you'll accumulate wealth rather than lose it or remain even. in real life, we work for income, and have to pay bills as expenditure, so you cant really accumulate wealth unless your income is really really high. in runescape there is no expenditure that is compulsory for everybody, so you just keep getting richer the longer you play.

OMG! Stop the GP inflation!
consider this. the existence of tradeable rares in runescape create a very powerful demand for them. the demand is super high not only because a rare item is collectible, but more importantly because it is a 100% guaranteed profit investment. no matter how expensive a rare is, people will pay the price for it, because they are guaranteed to make a profit on it in the future. this is a form of passive income, and is a very attractive commodity in order to satisify this demand, people who want a rare for investment purposes are going to need LOTS of moolah. how? 2 ways, either print their own money (high alching) or get it from elsewhere in the economy (merchanting). lets say for argument sake that the money for the rare is half alched cash and half merchanted. now he can afford to buy the rare at above the price the previous seller bought it for. the next in line rare owner is also alching and merchanting his way up to the rare price, as is the next in line and the next in line. because of this, we have a people making money chasing after the very fast rising rare price. more money is being made by alching, so more money in the economy. more money is also being transferred, so prices of other items are also being affected now, lets take rares out of the economy completely. imagine that rares were never tradeable, and p hats were nothing more than primitive looking wooly hats. do you think that people would alch and merchant as much? would there be as much money in the economy? would there be anything in the ecomony increasing at 100-150% per year? think about it. there's no right or wrong answer, just what you think would be the state of the runescape economy if there was never anything such as atradeable rare

A few thoughts on Pest Control
most rounds dont even last 2 minutes, so if theres a 2 minute limit to get kicked out, most players will still get a lot of free exp. but i dont understand how you could get exp for not attacking at all? i mean how does the game know what stat to add exp to? suppose youre a pure and you dont do anything, how can you know you wont be awarded a whole bunchof def points to mess up your combat level? after playing the game about 8-10 times, it totally loses its appeal. back to barrows for me

making random event outfits tradable?
well, shade robes and strange fruit can only be obtained by random events, yet they are tradeable and never considered rare. i have 6 pieces of shade sitting in my bank and i dont see me possibly getting rich from them, plus i have maybe about 20 strange fruit on the other hand, i would love to get rid of some of these frog tokens. and i dropped my lederhosen top for bank space. some items are tradeable and some are not, and i think jagex selects which random items they make tradeable, trying to avoid another case of rare inflation. it would be really stupid for them to keep reating the same mistake

Guide to weapon speeds
actually, knives and darts are even faster than shortbows on rapid. this was a really good guide, breaking it down to hits per minute is much more useful than the graph on the knowledge base

McGrubor's Mystery
are you sure the transportation symbol doesnt refer to the coal trucks? i mean it doesnt transport people, but it might be a type of transportation. ill check out the light myself, maybe its something else...

THE RANDOM EVENT THEORY.
this makes a lot of sense... i think you might be on to something i see lots of randoms in port ecto furnace. mr jekyll, strange plant, frogs, mom, pirate, etc. if theres 5 people smelting there, you can almost be sure that everybody will get at least 1 random within an hour. i thnk any area or skill that is likely to be exploited by macros doing something repetitive will be a site for randoms to appear often

OMG! Stop the GP inflation!
you have to remember that inflation is not only dependent on the amount of gp/currency in the economy, but rather the amout of gp per person. the runscape population grows steadily, and the rate the population increases absorbs some of the inflation. things like rune plates are always increasing, but so are the number of players that complete dragon slayer. so even though the supply in creases, the demand also increases, and inflation doesnt affect it as much compare that to the effect of rares. not only is a rare limited in supply, it is also a super-secure investment: no matter WHAT you pay for it, you can be guarantted to resell it for more. so the demand for such an item will always increase. this is a type of articficial inflation, because the worth of the phats havent changed. but because the demand is extremely high, people are hilg-alching and merchanting just to afford them, and adding gp to the economy at a rate that would not happen if rares didnt exist. in fact, merchanting would be very different today if there were no rares in the first place. and i can bet that there would not be nearly as much gp in the economy as there is now

OMG! Stop the GP inflation!
actually, the us dollar hasnt been backed by gold for ages. yes, the gold in fort knox was originally the anchor of the currency, and still is, to a certain extent. now the dollar is more dependent on oil trade and foreign debt than on gold but thats another discussion entirely...

A 53 combat hitting 9s in def mode?
you mean crush, stab or slash. this affects the accuracy of your weapon against enemies (and the enemiy's crush, stab and slash defence also affects this) but it doesnt affect max hit.

Clan Wars Stadium/forum
this would only work if runescape had official clans, with a recognized leader who could make these kinds of arrangements. the leader of each clan could select 5 of his clanmates for a 5 vs 5 mini war/duel, and only those members could be in the clash.

I've Learned Something Today...
Posting opinions is one thing, I mean, if you didn't like this topic just say, "I'm sorry I don't really see the point to this post" instead of, "That is the most pointless thing I've ever read go slit your wrists you are so stupid no one cares." See what I'm saying? You can express yourself without attacking anyone, that way the poster (no_one, in this case), can be like, "Alright, that's cool, just thought I'd post this to tell my story" instead of trying to defend himself. Also, just because you didn't learn anything doesn't mean he didn't. Now he knows not to chat and Scape at the same time. That's cool. No need to flame him, now. Deep breaths, everyone... relax.... it will be okay..... i agree, but from no_one's position, he cant control how others react to him. he can control how the attacks and flames affect him, but he really has no power to stop people from flaming. its something each person replying will have to decide for themselves. of course it would be a great community if everybody was more mature and diplomatic, but sometimes there is little that can be done because its beyond your control. but it really would be much nicer if people expressed their opinions in a more respectful and mature way, and we can hope for the best my point is, the only thing no_one can do is to learn to live with the fact that in a free society where he is free to express how he feels about a topic, everybody else in that soceity has the same freedom to express how they feel about his topic. he cant be asking for tolerance and not extend the same tolerance in return
-
I've Learned Something Today...
for no_one, i agree with you, that you have a right to post "wrong" opinions, lame topics or things that are only relevant to you. i fully support your right to express yourself. what YOU need to learn is that others also have the right to express their opinions about your opinions. if some people think your topic is lame, spam, irrelevant or pointless, then from their perspective thats what it is it goes both ways. you want people to tolerate whatever you have to say, but you get mad with them for expressing what they have to say. if you really want to learn anything, its just as you believe you have the right to make "general" opinions about the game from your perspective, then respect other people's right to express their opinons from their perspective. otherwise, you really havent learned anything

Least boring non combat skill?
maging and ranging are both combat in members fishing is great, either in catherby or fishing guild. i dont really like mining although its my highest non combat skill, but mining is a chore while fishing is actually quite fun, probably the least "chore-ish" skill

It is a Bug? Somebody doing this deserves banned?
lol omg teh poor wikkle mossies!!!111! theres a reason why mages and rangers have the ability to attack from a distance. mage robes arent designed to withstand melee blows. they are usually made from fine cloth magically woven, but have practiaclly no slash and stab defence. ranger's armor is a bit more sturdy, but still, without metal protection or a shield, they could take some serious damage. so to offset this challenge, they can use obstacles as their defence. doesnt that sound fair? of course, feel free to mage or range your moeeies from close range. just make sure you have food ;-) as for the AI, monsters can only melee attack you from 4 directions, and they have to come directly next to you. the way the ai is designed, the monster always walks directly east or west first until they are vertical to you (north or south, unless theres an obstacle they have to go around). if they cant move any further north or south to attack you, they will be stuck, unless you move east or west, then they will follow dont worry too much about it, just use it to your advantage
-
It is a Bug? Somebody doing this deserves banned?
lol calm down axel, let me explain. giants and lesser demons (in f2p, many more in p2p) tke up more than 1 square. players and most small to normal size monsters take up 1 square. because of this, you can walk into an area that is 1 square wide, but the giants cant. the moss giants you are talking about try to come at you from the south, but because the player is standing in a corner next to the coal rock, the path is half-way blocked to the moss giant, and he cannot move any futher north and just stands there. even in the hill giants dungeon you can use safe spots like this. stand next to a stalagmite on the cave floor and move 1 sqaure north or south (depending on where your target giant is. then range or mage it, it will walk north (or south) of the stalagmite and cant reach you because the pathe between you and him doesnt have 2 open squares for him to walk i hope you understand this. its not a bug, its a safe spot. youll discover that this is the great thing about training ranged and mage

Jagex messed up again?
i'm pretty sure they meant to send you an auto reply saying thank you for contacting jagex, we appreciate your bug report and have technicians working around the clock blah blah blah, oh and by the way, your account has been banned for password scamming, use of macros and clubbing baby seals

making random event outfits tradable?
its not. he killed a dust devil for it. so he worked for it. with random events you have absolutely NO control over getting it. with dragon drops, barrows gear, slayer drops, etc, the player has part control over getting those items. its based on player effort. the longer you stay at barrows the higher your odds are of getting a barrows item. there is nothing you can do to increase your odds of getting a random event (except shades, maybe? and shade robes are tradable)

Jagex messed up again?
attention pl0x? this is really pointless. really

New Use For Frog Tokens!!
a weapon in the helmet space? thet would mean you could carry a frog tongue and a sword? how would that work? would you auto-retaliate with the tongua attack or the sword if you get attacked by a monster? a "weapon" will have to be weilded in your right hand, the way i see it as for theiving, yeah that sounds like fun, but thats a members only skill. then again, that would be sick to grab 3gp out of a man's pocket with your tongue. (sounds gross though, even a bit lewd lol)
