  1. We were allowed 1.5 spacing at minimum
  2. At the moment I'm working on a smaller essay, a 5 page analysis on the upbringing of 5 different children. I might stop though because the tafe decided to tell me they may have given me the wrong modules :wall: it's okay it's not like I didn't just finish reading 10,000+ pages

    Today...

Positive parenting isn't effective at the moment but we'll keep at it. He's had a few homes before this one, including his first owner who used to hurt him so it's going to be difficult. Especially since he wasn't taught this when he was a pup, he's 2 years old now so that means 2 years of bad habits to ease out of.
  4. That never works because even when I rush and think I do a crap job, I get good grades :P
  5. 1. Earn more than $100,000 per annum 2. Travel every country 3. See how many degrees and diplomas I can obtain before I keel over that's about it really. Nothing else seems enjoyable.
  6. It would only take me about a week to get everything done if I really wanted to get it done... hmm we'll see what happens

    Today...

My dog pood all over the garage floor -.- Today has been crap. Raiden is teething and fighting gastro (he's had it for over a week now and doctors refuse to give him anything other than electrolytes). He has been screaming the house down since 4-5am this morning and so it has been very frustrating. I can't concentrate on my assignments while he's carrying on. I know he's in pain and I'd love to cuddle him all day but he doesn't like cuddles, nothing I seem to do works, he just screams. The dog is annoying me, he seems to think he's allowed to jump on our bed and also the lounge, he's got another thing coming... then I checked the mail and found that the real estate still hasn't given our bond money back and are dodging our phone calls. Our electricity bill looks way too high for what little we've used and the TAFE has decided they now want to charge me $2000 for a course I was told I could do for free through the government. I'm giving Raiden his bottle and curling up in bed and going to sleep... today is one of those days I wish I didn't have to wake up.
  8. I'm procrastinating now when I'm supposed to be working on 4 assignments. I have another 2 months to finish it in, so that's why I'm being lazy. I work better under pressure, when I know something is due so I get it done.
  9. I'd argue that respect to any individuals privacy is an important matter. Strip searches in my opinion should be done by police not nurses, teachers, principals or other staff members where the student attends. Keep the law simple: "police only" and there won't be a need for ridiculous monetary cases. If there are susceptible drugs involved then it shouldn't be handled by the school to begin with. Their job is to run the school, not to act like a police officer. Hand the kid over to the cops to be investigated and dealt with appropriately in compliance to the law. It pisses me off when I hear that principals and teachers etc want to try and control children and take matters in to their own hands. Reminds me of a Dr Phil show I watched about teachers wanting guns in classrooms :wall: If Australia ever becomes like this, I want outsy.
  10. They'd probably obtain accurate information by asking anyway. Conservatism on basic human rights makes me shudder. The psychology as you've probably learned in your social class behind thinking critically rather than emotionally in cases such as this has proven to be much more positive.
  11. There were much more efficient ways to handle the situation, keeping the young girls dignity and privacy in tact. That's the problem. This girl could feel humiliated and violated and may never be able to look at the people involved again. At least if it were handled at the station by a female officer, it wouldn't feel as awkward. She may have been okay with the procedure but I doubt it considering it made paper headlines. Now she probably feels even more humiliated. If I were her, I would have left the school and begged the media to leave it alone so I could try to put the humiliation behind me and move on.
  12. Awwwww how cute, details? My son was born at 2am in the morning on the dot :P Congrats to mum and bubs hope they're both doing well :D
  13. They finally got bored with Obama and the economy. It would just be nice to watch a news show that gives the facts without the drama.
  14. And mother issues  @ bluelancer - another point to add to your last paragraph - not to mention IQ tests are incredibly, culturally biased. Another person I think the world of. But I guess in the retrospect of things that's more or less the point that I'm getting at - generally speaking on behalf of those who stood up and had something to say to help the world become a better/ more peaceful place to live. For example someone who now pops to mind is Ekhart Tolle. Do you know what this thread reminds me of? Does anyone remember those glow in the dark looney tunes time warp tazo's back in the day where they had all these types of famous people?? I'm going to try find a picture of them all. edit: http://spakatak.com/tazos/aus/tazosset07.htm
  15. I'm interested to see what happens but annoyed with all hype from the media and public.

    Canes?

lol I thought this thread would be about using the cane in schools for some reason.
  17. I think that's disgusting. They could have contained the student in a room, called the police who could have used a sniffer dog to see if there were drugs anywhere else and then given the choice to turn around and hand them over or proceed with a strip search from a female officer. I also find it weird that ragmar12345 has the same mod quote as Mercifull in his signature.
  18. Many doctors recommend that children "wait it out" with rest and water compared to medications because it's good for their immune systems. Especially nasty little bugs like gastro. I haven't been sick in years and don't even take panadol :)
  19. I don't think flu vaccinations should be mandatory, reliable evidence against prevention is only modest. Plus, there are debates that certain types of vaccines are associated with some diseases, especially in certain genetic make-ups. In fact I believe in the latest research there was incredible amounts of bias in the effectiveness of the flu vaccination, particularly in seniors. Where as in pregnant women, the flu vaccination has showed many benefits for both mother and unborn child, extending to protecting the newborn for the first six months of it's life. Upon analysis, I deem the flu vaccination a benefit for some, though not all, therefore the flu vaccination in my opinion should not be mandatory. Professor Paul Glezen of Baylor College of Medicine, Houston said:
  20. The people I think are smartest have already been mentioned so I'll add another that hasn't been yet; Martin Luther King. He realised that violence was not the way to solve problems, he fought for equality with reasoning and compassion. And he made white and black people both sit up and think about the reasons they had been told to hate each other and to break down the walls.

    Favorite sayings

"Man is born free but everywhere he is in chains" Jean Jacques Rousseau. "Great spirits have often encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds" Albert Einstein. and the one in my sig "We wouldn't be the people we are, make the choices we do essentially, live the lives we lead-without the influence of our ancestors who lived before us. Like the monarch butterfly, which takes several generations to complete a migration that ensures the survival of future butterflies, we can live good lives to ensure the happiness of future generations." Allison DuBois
  22. Yeah I hear you, I've been trying to lose my pregnancy weight for the last 5-6 months. Fish oil capsules have sped up the process for me as well as drinking lemon juice in hot water most mornings to rid the body of toxins.

    Bored...

If you don't enjoy the things you usually enjoy then maybe see if there's a bit of depression and nip it in the bud. There's no shame in it, I've come to realize after the birth of my son I have stopped enjoying the things I usually enjoy and normally I'm a very positive person. I'm actually being tested for PND (post natal depression) on the 5th of May and yet again re-assessed for bipolar but type II this time instead of rapid-cycling or type I (type II being less severe), with a trial of lithium for my mood swings as (wow this is becoming common with me these days) they yet again think the diagnosis of social anxiety is incorrect. Their new theory is that now social anxiety can co-exist with other mood disorders. I almost feel like I'm in an episode of house, where they try everything to see whether it works, potentially screwing with my mind in the mean time  I mean it's not like I nearly sued the first doctor for ruining several years of my life after finding I was highly allergic to Setraline hydrochloride (prescribed under-age). I used to enjoy the simple things and now I barely find interest in anything at all, I'm bored. The only thing I seem to find enjoyment out of is high risk activities that get the adrenaline running. But I may be different to you in the means that I know something isn't right because this isn't who I usually am. I've also lost 7 kilos in the last 2 weeks because my appetite has disappeared.
  24. It's a fact that men are intimidated by outspoken women so why would they want women to be equal? They'll lose all their "power". I don't think I'm welcome in a particular doctor surgery anymore after confronting a doctor who treated his female patients like a piece of crap and spoke down to them. I don't care what culture you're from mate, when you practice in Australia you treat people equally 8-)
  25. That's pretty true isn't it? People are more likely to express left hand views on the internet because there's no real consequence for what you say other than a nasty message back in your direction. Most people wouldn't say half the things they say on the net in every day life.
