  1. I don't know what I would do, sometimes I'm nice and sometimes I'm not :P I do believe what you give you get back 3 fold though - each to their own.
  2. Breathing techniques. I use my 10 min perusal time to breathe deeply and slowly and to calm the mind, relax the muscles and to focus while every body reads. Another tip I find useful is if you're allowed to write on your exam paper during perusal time, to write down any material or formulas you know you will forget. I also usually meditate or listen to calm tribal music before I travel to the university campus. I've never scored below a distinction and I still get extreme anxiety before exams... The technique calms me down a lot and helps me get a feel of the environment and to adapt.
  3. Ahhhhhh that dream is horrible I had something similar like that. Going back a few years ago I dreamt that I was walking through the park at night time and I heard a noise, turned around and literally felt a shiny black gun held to my head. I woke up sweating like anything. What was even scarier is when I took that day off work because I was feeling sick, we were robbed. Originally I was the person who was supposed to count the end of day cash takings :ohnoes: I jumped at anything that moved for about a week lol
  4. The motivational speaking at the moment only comes out on audio so I'm working on making a TV appearance there, doesn't look promising yet though  That's where I REALLY want to be!
  5. Haha yeah when I was in grade 7 I was on Nickelodeon "Nick takes over your school"
  6. heartless619, *deep sigh* go back to your undergraduate degree. You're not even through your first quarter and already telling other people how to apply psychotherapy and how much you ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åknow̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  7. I know how to hang something with it :-w
  8. A car failed to indicate so I crossed the road, saw the car coming before me and tripped over, car put on breaks and missed me by about 30cm.
  9. Oh my goodness... I think I just drooled on my leg  :o
  10. It's like you know me :ohnoes:
  11. Sorry I never took chemistry, ever and it just sounded like something I had seen before?
  12. Are you sure you're not referring to the quantum physics "double split" experiment? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfPeprQ7oGc

I don't mind men with long hair so long as they have cute faces and suit it. I even like dreds on a guy so long as he has a nice face and suits it. Mine is long, half way down my back.
  14. You probably didn't know the mother as well as you knew the girl, so I would be surprised if you felt any emotion at all. I lost my first best friend to a car accident and I was in denial until I saw that it was very real, placing roses on top of his casket before I cried. And when I found out my other best friend committed suicide, I was fine for about 2 weeks until it hit me and I had a break down. A regular customer of mine from an old job died the other month and I felt nothing. Much the same as in your situation, I guess I didn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t know her well enough to have any real emotional attachment.
  15. WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!! 8-) My first daunting experience was going from public speaking in front of a small class room, to 260 people, to 3 thousand people, in a few years time that 3 thousand will grow to 10 thousand+ (motivational speaking) :ohnoes: I'm actually an extremely shy person who doesn't talk very much so being able to conquer my fears really helped me to grow as a person.
  16. You can find this by going to your library and finding "Theories of counselling and psychotherapy" by James Archer Jr. & Christopher J. Mc Carthy. I highly recommend it for your studies. Referring to counselling itself (without applying behaviourism) In the 1960's and 1970's Carl Rogers (I'm sure you would have heard of him) built much of his approach to counselling on what he called "core conditions" The following therapeutic scale was listed by Gaston (1990) With Sep's condition not all Christians (and other religions) are going to be able to successfully apply this. Referring to my earlier statement once more Now applying behaviourism: A Christian psychologist working with behaviourism would most likely state that Sep's condition is a result of his interaction with his current environment. He would argue classical conditioning: E.g. "Sep has been reading up on so much transgender material that he has conditioned himself to have this condition" He would argue operant conditioning: E.g. "Sep has been acting this particular way as he notices he gets more attention from people. He must lack attention in his life and therefore acting like a transgender is rewarding for him while being straight people were generally ignoring him." This may very well be the case but if it's not, then what does a Christian psychologist have to offer through behaviourism? Referring to the aforementioned counselling core conditions, Sep is unlikely (if the Christian psychologist is unsuccessful) to build any core conditions with his therapist, feel that he simply does not understand and the therapy sessions cease. This is an example you've asked for, referring to my following statement Key word being "can", not always. You've said it yourself, although asked me for evidence... hehe fascinating.
  17. The correct answer is both.
  18. And what about those hippies who stand in the middle of the city mall with their free hug signs? Awwe I always run up and give them a squeezy hug.
  19. Thanks for clearing that up clips, you did a perfect job at explaining it :D Also, behaviouralism is the science of human and animal behaviour, which can conflict with some religious values. I'm having a small problem; however, I can't seem to understand how that has confused you? Considering the history of 'isms' is one of the first things you learn in an undergraduate psychology/behavioural science degree? Another problem I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m having is, understanding why a psychology student such as you has not been successful in removing defensiveness in his questioning? I have completed the degree you̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢re currently undertaking and I wouldn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t deliberately go out of my way to diminish anyone̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s faith. After all it's up to people like you and I to restore it. I hope I have cleared any confusion you seem to have had :D And I will certainly make note to state my objections clearly in future, as obviously I seem to have failed to do so. If you're still confused, I can scan some pages for you out of my old text books.
  20. pppsh fancy smancy just shove me a bowl of chicken cabonara fettuccini with extra chicken pieces. I'll put you in my will before you fry me.
  21. What about for sad people like me who don't know how to make sigs and don't have any friends in order to get them to do the work for me? :P
  22. Children these days are screwed up enough yet alone not getting a good affection fixation. :(
  23. Meol, How noble of you to stick up for someone's freedom of speech to post on this forum. It's a good thing for people such as you to care. My concern, however, is that when someone is obsessed with what they have, to the point that they write about their own thoughts constantly, it will eventually make them go crazy. So please, if you will have trust in what I'm saying. Because I, much like you have people's good intentions at heart too. Mine, however, is referring to Sep keeping his sanity. This involves, cutting back on being his personal favourite subject.
  24. If you didn't offer to take him back to your hotel room I'm going to slap you :XD:
  25. I have OCD and I'll share with you some of the hard things I have had to deal with and overcome. I weighed myself every morning and if I wasn't the same weight, I wouldn't eat. I would only eat at certain times of the day. I became anorexic. I check the light switches and locks 3 times before I leave the house. My boyfriend would lock the door right in front of me and I would still have to reach over and check that it's locked. Classical conditioning (if you don't know what it is, read up on Pavlov̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s theory) I am extremely sensitive to. What I mean by this is if I do behaviour at least twice, it's extremely likely I'll do it again and it's extremely difficult for me to stop. This caused me in my younger and older teenage years to have gambling problems, alcoholic problems, eating disorders. I refuse to make appointments, answer the phone, meet anybody, catch the train or bus, and leave the house on an even number. At my old work place long ago at a restaurant I would become highly stressed if I ran out of odd table numbers. My bedroom is always remarkably clean. To the point that socks have their own drawer, tank tops have their own drawer, shirts with sleeves have their own drawer, and jeans are folded in a particular way and have their own drawer. I even have a pen drawer, a book drawer, a photo drawer. I need to buy groceries and use it on that day or I'll throw it in to the bin, especially meat. This is how bad it gets: If I listen to music 3 times in a row either while I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m at work, studying, at the gym - I have directly associated music with hard work (classical conditioning). I lost my ipod one morning at university. I couldn't get out of bed in the morning until my mum bought me a new ipod. The second it finished recharging, I was back to my bouncy self again. I had been admitted in to hospital for drinking too much 5 times (just ask Rick), lost thousands and thousands of dollars to gambling (I'm not allowed near the casino without my partner now and need to put all my money I earn in to a savings account that I can't touch. I've associated fighting with my partner, to having a bad day so whenever we're fighting my life = [cabbage]. He has had to go out of his way so that we don't fight. My pictures on the wall are at exactly the same height, biggest to smallest. I can't wear the same item of clothing more than once in a week. I can't re-use towels and I use 3 towels, one for the floor because I don't want to wet it, one for my hair and one for my body. So you can imagine my washing pile daily. Trust me; you probably wouldn't even know the meaning of OCD until you've lived 24 hours in my shoes. Just finding someone who can put up with you is more than enough. Thank your lucky stars because I would give anything just to wipe over a mouse. You probably clean because you're stressed. Subsitute something else like meditation for your cleaning, you should be fine. It's so bad that people on tip.it should take a screen shot of a post of mine that hasn't been edited because I wasn't satisfied entirely with the content.
