  1. Ugh, even though I might have started it a little, I was atleast name-calling people on MY side of the debate, can we please keep this topic clean? Religion-science discussions can be fun, but not like this, it's gonna get locked soon.
  2. Always easy. The only game I ever played seriously on Hard was the International Superstar Soccer series. And I still won every game by atleast 5-0. Too easy, but fun nonetheless. I don't play shoot-em-up's so this discussion really isn't for me.
  3. I don't see you criticizing his understanding of what he's written, rather just the fact that someone else said it first. I'm not on his side, it may well be that he has no grasp on the matter discussed, I'm just saying that your way of counter-arguing him is counter-productive. And there's not much in his post to suggest he has no understanding of what he's written. I think you should spend a little more time reading what has been said previously. The person being criticized has many times said that he has a lot of experience with evolution and everybody else is an "amateur", I would be pretty pissed if someone who knows nothing about the topic called me an amateur. I read it enough, thanks, my point is simply that even though he may stoop to a low level there's no reason for you to do the same. Interesting point, except the non-intuitive nature of physics that you refer to is proven by calculation, and hence less a leap of faith than more of a way of looking at things which is hard for us to grasp at the moment. We've always lived in a middle sized world, yet if we were to suddenly look at a similarly developed species of thinking, logical intellectual beings but ones who lived on the atmoic scale, the laws of quantum mechanics would be completely intuitive to them, but relativity would be mind blowing. And vice versa. Yea, but it will always be hard to grasp I think, counting something and proving it to people with advanced mathematics is noway near as powerful and mind-blowing to the average joe as is "apple on the head" to take a well-known example. Intersting way of looking at it with the atomic-sized intelligence, dunno if it's possible, but there's a new way of grasping stuff, will go back to that when I'm not as stressed and can philosophize about it some more. I like to consider the 4th and possible 5th, 6th dimensions, etc. Which have been "proven" much in the same way. What would a being created on 4 planes be like? Is it at all possible? How will they see us? Are we created on 4 dimensions? Is it at all graspable? Can we ever "see" this side of ourselves? There're so many questions.

  5. Okay, nice topic IMO. 1st of all. All of this discussion has a pre-determined basic principle of life that isn't excactly mentioned, and would be the only argument against a scientific reasoning, and I find it incredibly odd that no "God-believers" has brought it up. That is to ask; is it really worth it to go for all the scientifical breakthroughs? Is all the pain it brings worth it compared to a simple life and dying when we're around 30? Fighting hard to get food on the table and being sick, but being much happier as compared to the stress and pains in the goal-oriented life we live today. As I see it it's the ONLY valid argument against science, because if you have accepted that breakthrough like fire, the wheel, warm housing, etc. is something we want, then the every single step after this down the line is validated by you wanting more comfort in the first place. And I need to say no more than this to you non-believers in science, to me it's all or nothing in this debate. All the comfort in the world, or no comfort. 2nd of all. There's a problem concerning gravity which I think leads to some pretty neat consequences. People who believe in science are forced to "believe" that there are some things we can't see (a 4th dimension known as time, and the space-time web which is rather non-intuitive). Which suddenly brings faith into science, even though it may be the only rational answer, we're forced to believe something which at first doesn't seem plausible at all, that time as we know it has a beginning and possibly an end. Whereas people who believe in "faith" argue against this with the argument that it's non-intuitive. I think it's a strange counter-argument, considering to believe in what they believe in you have to have faith and not be rational. So many flaws in that argument, how many of YOUR ideas do not come from some text-book but rather from the 4th level of rational thinking, as Plato suggested? I'd say none, and neither can you expect his ideas to come from him, but rather from what he's learned somehow. And the only reason you can call it fundamentalist is cause you have society on your side, and didn't you learn it's not cool to pick on people because they are alone in kindergarten? I did. Pick on them cause they pick on you or make bad stuff happen, not cause someone else told you they were bad. I should add that maybe everything isn't all cool in what I wrote, but I'm HIGH on coffee from writing my critical thinking essay all day...*phew*..back to work.
  6. 3/10 bad text, render slapped on generic bg, not blended in a good way and the colors don't really complement each other that well.
  7. If I had literally 1 week with nothing but gaming, I'd bring Baldur's Gate I and II, Icewind Dale I and Planescape: Torment out of the dust-gathering pile of old games. They're probably cheap aswell. Don't forget the expansion for BG I though, it's a good one. They're the best of a dead era. The Infinity Engine DnD RPGs. Aah, the good old days, battling monsters for fame or treasure. Overthrowing villains for justice or power. Bringing peace or chaos to the world. Muahahaha. *ahem*
  8. I hit my soccer-trainer's car as I was reversing out of the parking-lot after practice...shhh, don't tell him :-$ no marks on either car fortunately
  9. Before saying that, consider the question, what is a point? Do you mean a point as in it has a value in itself? Then happiness is the only thing I can think of, and then if a game makes you happy it has a "point", if not, then no. BUt other than that, most games have less serious points as in points which do not have a value in themselves IMO.
  10. If I could change ANYTHING? Then I'd make myself live on a timeline where everyone I love live a perfect life. Perfect. Or, I'd want to be transported 10 years into the past and still know everything I do today about soccer and in school and stuff and totally own EVERYONE :P But to take a more serious example...I wish I had more confidence.
  11. When I was around lvl 40 on WoW I was clearing badlands quest, ofc. Anyway, there was this other gnome mage there with a really nice necklace (I thought in my noobishness), so I asked him where he got it. After that we never quit gaming together, we did every imaginable quest together and ran all the instances except RFC and WC from DM to BWL. Then I had to go to military service. Anyway, that was probably the best time of my online life in a non-text-based game, the fun I had with him on skype at 5 in the morning after wiping over and over again :P even met him IRL (he lives in Denmark). The only other game that can compete is one which I've played for 5 years, lately more seldom than ever, and that's ARENAScape. I couldn't possible count the hours spent f5ing mobs (well, that is the game), calculating specs, posting on the forums (around 8k posts on scapeboards and TIF), organising tournaments (when silv went away it was VERY boring, so I organised tournaments :P) and moderating the boards.. it will always be something very special to me. And though the screenshots I have from the game are very few, actually the only one I have is one with my name above Elminster and Xenthe_Tek, it always gets to me how much time I spent on that game, and the people I've gotten to know.
  12. No wonder you're a mean forum troll if your parents made you play games revolving around killing satanist monsters using weapons, also depicting evil things like magic and the walking dead, when you were a kid. Just cause a game doesn't involve guns doesn't make it a kids game. I'm 21 and enjoy Super Mario World as much as when I was 10. Or mario Party for that matter, which I play with my girlfriend among others before some degrading comment about homosexuals is coming.

Nah, doubt it bud :P I'm pretty good myself, i know all the shortcuts :) I want an online version! Okay, wario course shortcut? Probably the best one hehe, and easy to get aswell. How about the Donkey Kong course shortcut, that one's harder. :P

Best overall? Poverty? Education? Health? And I may be wrong (it is a pretty common belief in my area, so that may be why I believe it), but I think USA has a higher obese/capita rank than most other countries. It could be a sign of wealth, I give you that, but to me it's a sign of bad culture and bad education, as it comes from McDonalds and the like.

No, I really can't see that.

I think Sweden is up there right now. Our level of social security coupled with the technological growth suits me perfect. We should be afraid in the future of a stagnating working-field, people being too afraid to switch jobs because of it being too hard to find one, and it not being a good choice leaving the one you have. For many reasons. And this leaves companies wanting to start up and do something new and creative without people interested in getting out there. This could partly be solved by an immigrating workforce, but there are problems integrating them atm. Or rather "Swedes" have a problem being integrated with. Not saying I'll work here forever, but it sure as hell was a very nice place getting started in life.
  17. eww, play a girl? eww, call a man a girl's name? :P Nah, seriously, it never made sense to me either. But now I just accept it I suppose..
  18. He's dropped his whip and taken a screenie.. It's not classed as a fake, There is nothing unreal about it. Most fakes about runescape are speculating, ideas and things that don't currently happen etc..
  19. banned for using silly paradoxes in a game! *slap* gotta quit this game, could get addictive.. *sigh*
  20. Commodore 64 SNES N64 Some half-ok PC.
  21. Halo, only played nr 1, but it was no fun. Nad, why did you go bac kand play Halo 2 when you didn't like 1? Seems like testing fate to me :P Can't really think of any games I despise...just games I wanted to like but just didn't, like Black and White and Fallout. There was this freakish adventure game on NES or Commodore 64 I just hated when I was younger. It had levels set in a forst swinging from trees and one in a circus...hmm, can't give a better picture of it, but it was not a good game...
  22. hmm, so hard, but: Super Mario World. - First Nintendo game I ever played, and that game is just full of nostalgia for me. Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time. - First Zelda game I owned, and probably the most complete gaming experience. Especially since I hyped it so much and it was as good as I thought. WoW. - No other game will ever (I hope) captivate me like that game did. Just insane what it did. Living a game like this... some others just because I think they deserve a mention: Super Metroid Mega Man X Planescape: Torment Baldur's Gate I...maybe II aswell... Mario Kart 64 Super Tennis International Superstar Soccer 98 - cmon...FIFA? Seriously.
  23. Actually, they're ex-demons from what I've read. A quest on Bloodmyst Isle lets you talk to a Blood Elf, and she calls them fools for giving up their demonic power. ...However, before TBC came out, I read that they were always Draenei's, and that they were offered demonic power, but only 2 of the 3 leaders (and thus their people with it) took the corruption....Archimonde and Kil'Jaeden took it, Velen did not, for example. This makes more sense, because The Broken and The Lost Ones are all corrupted versions of Draenei...But Eredar are demonic versions of Draenei, so I dunno'. *WoWiki...* Isn't being offered it and declining the same as giving up something you had. I mean giving up could mean either in this case. Cause the second is what I've read, too, but that doesn't mean the Blood Elf is speaking untruthly.
  24. Are you saying you didn't have fun while playing the game? Obviously not. He had enough fun to sign up on a fansite's forums. Stop getting the past and present tense mixed up. You guys are using arguments in the past tense to counter what runesmithie feels now = you lose. People's views change. Maybe runesmithie ONCE found it funny and exhilarating to click-click-swivel-click-swivel-click, however, that feeling has long passed. Two words for ya; Play WoW (that could be considered to be 4 words, but WoW is an accepted acronym, and you know what I'm on about anyhow). That, too, is a freaking internet game, played on the comp. And it has freaking great controls. So why should we all sell our comps and get consoles?
