  1. on some kills the td doesn't even switch to melee. i'd just stick to d hide and defender and take advantage of soul splitting when possible
  2. i wouldn't spend any money on herblore until you have enough to get to a level to make extreme attacks and strengths. whether this means you'll get 85 and stew to 89 or that you'll just get 89 is up to you. but really i don't think superantifires or spec restores alone are worth that much
  3. without turmoil or overloads i'm worried that the rapier would disappoint at tds. how close are you in terms of money to turmoil, extreme att and strength, and overloads? i believe the cls is better than both the maul and rapier at tds No where close to having the cash.. lol, thats why I want to have pro gear for TD's so I can rack in the claws. i really would like a decent estimate of the cash you need though, because i think even if rapier is considerably worse without turm / overloads, it'd be bearable with one or the other, and slogging through a few claw solos to get there might be better than putting a whole 200k tokens to getting a long. Edit: do you have claws as a spec weapon? currently i keep fury, rapier, and claws when i die, losing zerker (i). i'm not sure of the alch values but if you don't have claws you might be able to keep two chaotic weapons, but that doesn't mean you should, as having claws as a spec weapon might be better than having a chaotic crossbow over a rune crossbow. sorry for all the conditional advice, i'm distracted

  5. This... Might start MA if its so easily afkable. if you are suiciding, then you can ignore the game for a good three or four minutes while your units are dying
  6. how does it do on the acid tests?
  7. td magical splash attack does not interrupt the home-port casting a familiar ability does not interrupt the home-port you can generally log out if you're running, a td fire off a ranged or magic attack, and you click log out before it hits you but while it is in the air a td will not switch its style (usually?) if you don't pray against it. this is useful for soul splitting, you can switch to SS after it goes to melee and leave it on, and it'll melee you until it dies i don't think karils is ever the best armour to use at tds. if you have curses and are using them, you should have soulsplit because curses aren't good without turmoil (at tds), so you would want black dragonhide so you could tank their melee while soulsplitting (as said above) in some cases the titan will range if standing directly next to the td, but it depends on which side it is on. i believe this is because of the grid system, and that what attack a steel titan uses (melee or ranged) depends on its 'center' position relative to the target's 'center' position. to be safest, make sure the titan is a square away from the td. if you call your titan after you are under attack, it will focus on the attacker without having to be commanded standing in the north safespot in the north spot, if the td is in the 'correct' spot, ranging it will move you west one square and south one square. if you call your titan at this position, it will then focus on the td and be ranging it zeroes count for damage. hitting a 298 or so and then a zero will cause it to switch prayers. this is also why claw and titan specs most often do cause a prayer switch even if they don't hit 310 in my opinion the strengths and dangerousnesses of the attacks are ranged > magic > melee even if a td is not focused on you, such as if you are logging into a safe spot, they can fire off a magical spash attack directed at you. you should simply always pray magic if you're not praying something else if you can see a td doing the lean-back attack be smart about your inventory and try to keep things all in one area... for example if you are using normal prayers, you should keep your weapons at the bottom of your inventory, while if you are using curses and titan, i at least keep those items near the top so it's close to the familiar button pick your camera angle wisely. woox seems to keep it basically north, while i keep mine south so i can see more. with it facing north the td is closer to your inventory, but i care more about seeing the area to the south of my spot have a plan for when you die. if you've not heard of a death tab, it's a tab in your bank with teleports, super energy potions etc, for running back to where you last died. my td tab is my death tab
  8. is there a similar term to 'kiting' for running under a frozen opponent to prevent them from hitting? or is this still referred to as kiting?
  9. I'm aware of this. This is probably because of the different spots to kill them at and that there are 6 of them. #-o Anyways, could you please give some feedback? ;) what sort of feedback? i've thought about writing a guide a lot, perhaps i could help you with yours. the problem as i've said, is that there are so many cases for luring / fighting, especially with a steel titan, that it makes it very hard to cover them all. i'm capable of creating animated gifs from game footage, so i assumed i would do that if i ever did write a guide
  10. what i find difficult about helping people at tormented demons is that there are so many situations, its hard to just give them a problem -> solution set of guidelines. you need to either have a good understanding of monster movement, or have been killing them long enough to have seen all of those situations and know how to respond to them woox's guide is a pretty good but it moves very quickly (and there's no real good way to do it slowly since it's a video)
  11. there are two major methods to fletching broad bolts with mousekeys. 1. the 456+ method pressing these keys in sequence moves the mouse to the left, left-clicks, moves to the right, left clicks, and can then be repeated. this essentially uses the left pile on the right pile over and over again 2. the 5+ method pressing the 5 and + keys at the same time in your inventory results in a double click. you are responsible for moving the mouse between the two piles. this method is generally harder than the 456+ method, but most believe it to be faster. i'm not terribly good at it but after like an hour of trying it i was able to fletch as many bolts as i could with the 456+ method, indicating that i could probably go faster than the 456+ method using the 5+ method.
  12. wat apparently using soul split and a unicorn you can survive there using a 2 handed weapon and superantifires
  13. when bursting, doesn't the damage increase apply only to your primary target? so if you're going to get the necklace for the purpose of busring, you might want to find that out first
  14. essentially yes. the rapier is exceptionally good when in extremely powerful (offensively-wise) gear, because the strength and accuracy bonuses from your other armour somewhat diminish the importance of the stats of your weapon. think of it this way: if we had armour that provided a 1000 strength and accuracy bonus, then the stats of the CR or CLS would be nearly the same, the only difference being the speed. at that high of a strength and accuracy, you'd just want to hit as fast as possible. the appeal of the longsword is its accuracy and strength bonus, both of which become proportionally less when you start adding better armour into the mix.
  15. if you do something like what's in my signature, you could negate some of the cost of alching. you chop trees or something besides fishing too
  16. It's actually not bad for TD's with a steel titan, as it rarely hits 300+ so titan spec is never nulled. this was my original motivation for using it, and i like to try to minimize darklighting times so i thought it might be better for that.
  17. i tried it at tormented demons for quite a while, i'm using a rune crossbow now with diamond bolts because i bought a bunch after the seers diary to see if the special attack rate was decent (answer: no) and may return to using the sighted magic long after i use those up it definitely doesn't suck at tds
  18. oh ok, so much the same as superheating while mining at living rock cavern? you must reclick the fishing spot each time =\ i resize my screen as is in my signature so that the fishing spot is positioned directly do the left of my inventory... it's really hard to miss it that way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD_1CXOR1OA
  19. the general consensus is that barbarian fishing is the fastest experience. to maximize your xp rate, you should learn how to use mousekeys to drop fish rapidly, or could alchemize the fish as you catch them, though that'd be less ideal for you since you have 99 magic. another method is to drop a fish every time you catch a fish, which can be done without mousekeys
  20. When comparing two weapons people look for objective, conclusive results, thus why most of us say that the rapier is better, and truth be told, the fact that the CLS is better for you is irrelevant for this topic, none of us here actually detest your choice, CLS might very well be the right choice for you, but when your reasoning for CLS to be better than rapier is that it's better for you, you are stupid. This thread really shouldn't die as there isn't yet conclusive testing done to prove the usefulness of the weapons against one another- we only know the general lining for what is best for the boss monsters, but not real numbers. i believe gremmy said he was trolling when he said that. obviously, a weapon being the best choice for one person does not make it the best choice for everyone.
  21. each chaotic weapon has at least one situation where it is the best option. if gremmy only does things where the chaotic longsword is best, then he made the right choice. although the rapier may be generally better, this does not mean that it is always better to get. though it may be 15% better at some things, and the longsword 5% better at other things, if you never are fighting things where the rapier is 15% superior, then obviously you'd want the weapon which is 5% better
  22. might seem like a lot of tokens now but really... that's just one more large you'll have to do before getting your rapier / long
  23. i suggest that you be able to go to the compose-new-reply page on a topic even if you've just replied to a topic, but not be able to actually post that content until the 45 seconds are up. this would make it impossible for people who are copy / pasting spam adverts to post faster than currently, but would make it less annoying for people who just post fast or are answering a lot of simple questions quickly.
  24. I have decided that i'm comfortable with giving the following advice... the guideline "one keystroke = one action" is often given in these types of threads. the problem with this is that in standard mousekeys, the + key maps to a "double click" many see this as in conflict or contradiction to that guideline, yet jmods have confirmed it is okay to use the + key. in programming, a "double click" is actually one event. javascript can listen for double click events in web browsers, java and other programming languages, and even windows recognizes double clicks as an action. i think it is therefore fair to map a key to a double-click. on top of this, even if jagex disagrees with my above interpretation, they still allow the use of the + key to initiate a double click, so it's still allowed to map a key to the double click action. so, if you believe me you won't have to grow an extra finger
