Suggestion: Ban all yew noobs / suspected autoers
Lim_Dul replied to hmtourniquet's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
You cannot just ban people that fit the criteria you've listed. I know people who have started pure wcers, which I think is a waste of time, but that's beside the point. Why should there accounts be banned for only training one skill? If your idea were to be implemented, alot of honest players would lose their accounts. I agree there are far too many blatant macroers, but mass banning accounts with no evidence is not the answer. Here's an idea that I think could help cut down on the macroing scurge, limit the number of new accounts that can be made from one ip address to once a week. I don't see why any legitimate player would object to that. All these autoers that are cutting yews nonstop are being made by the same people, who are just selling the logs, then selling runescape gp for cold hard cash irl. In order for their scheme to work, they have to make hundreds of accounts to do the dirty work round the clock. If they could only create one account per week, it would slow their cheating process down to a crawl, and possibly make it so slow as to be a fruitless endeavor. -
F2p servers are awash with log cutting macroers. Just go down to the Rimmington or Varrock yews, there's 5-10 there at any given time. If they look suspicious, fire off a report so Jagex can investigate further.

There's still a bunch of hyper-active kids in there bumping their posts every 10 seconds anyway. If it weren't for them you wouldn't have to bump your posts nonstop to stay on the first 5 pages. It would be nice if the market threads didn't look like this selling such and such . . . ...15 pages later... . . . comon

Higher level logs such as yews do not burn any longer than regular logs. This really doesn't make much sense, since hardwoods burn longer in reality (hardwoods being more difficult to cut). I would like to see some sort of update to reflect this in the game because it does make high level log burning pointless other than for gaining xp. I think there are any number of ways this skill could be expanded, and I've put much thought into it in the past. Here are some of my ideas... Ability to light certain logs without a tinder box once a given level is achieved More consistant cooking on higher level logs Different log fires identifiable by slight variation in fire color Lighting arrows to increase damage from ranging Funeral pyre, in which you can burn a number of bones at once Here's some quest related ideas that involve firemaking. There could be a quest in a cold region of the map, where you have to light a stove for heat. If the stove isn't lit, you take damage from cold, so a high firemaking level would be imperitive for the quest. Currently there isn't really any consideration given to one of the most important reasons early humans started fires, to stay warm. A quest in which you must destroy a quantity of things by burning them. For instance some sort of disease afflicts a town, and you have to burn the infected clothing to prevent it's spread. Perhaps for this, a bonfire could become a separate type of fire to light, requiring more logs. There is no limit to expandsion of the firemaking skill. Firemaking would be an essential skill in an environment and timeframe such as runescape. In medieval times, if you weren't skillful at making fires to cook your food or heat your home you would have died, that's how vital this skill would be. I think the firemaking skill needs to be expanded to reflect the indispensability of it, not removed from the game. Removing firemaking because it has few uses in the game currently would be like saying you want your legs amputated because you're sitting down right now. You plan on standing up again, so you're going to want those legs, and firemaking will be used for more purposes (I hope), so we need to keep it in the game.

White knight castle second floor worked great for me. The west side has fences to range through, and the east side has a table to range across, and some other safespots.

bars need to have the format like general stores
Lim_Dul replied to piman1053's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
The need for stouts is always there up until lvl 99 smithing. Trying to get any quantity of them is very time consuming and tedious. There's no reason not to have a "Trade barmaid" option which would allow you to buy the drinks just like at any store. This is a great suggestion which I wholeheartedly support. -
Range is far superior to magic in F2p. With 99 range, you can kill people in full rune frequently, and mages don't stand a chance. Arrows may not hit extremely hard, but they hit so fast, it's like a barrage of death. My vote is for range any day of the week.

I think having some way to display your kills would be awesome. Perhaps when a player dies, they would drop regular bones and a 'player skull' which could be stored in a vault or something separate from the bank. That way you could store evidence of each of your kills, and have a way to keep track of everyone you've ever killed without cluttering up your bank. Another idea that just came to me, instead of gravestones appearing where someone dies in the wilderness, the graves in the graveyard of shadows could store the names of the most recent people to die in the wilderness. They could also say who killed them, sort of like the dueling arena. You could go there and get screenshots of the kills you got or if there was a clan war you could see the names of all the people that got killed.

I think the 28 spaces we have now seem a bit far fetched. Wearing a full set of rune and carrying 28 rune bars for instance, gives you a load that would be impossible to walk with, let alone run. For the sake of plausibility it would make sense for a weight limit to be set to how much you can carry. That way even if you had empty slots in your inventory you couldn't keep piling weight onto your already broken ankles. Let's not forget the impracticality of handling many difficult to carry items. Just imagine trying to run with 28 bowls of stew in your arms. That's going to require a trip to the dry cleaners. I really don't think more inventory space should be added.

I know on a pk trip with a clan, someone we attacked x logged (or at least one could assume they x logged) and the leader of the pk trip advised everyone to report for bug abuse. I'm not certain that x logging falls under bug abuse, so I didn't report the person, but there are definitely cases where clans attempt to get people banned by sending a barrage of reports which may or may not be founded.

Why isn't there a Range/Mage boosting prayer?
Lim_Dul replied to cocacolabottle's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
I always use 10 or 15% defense prayer while i'm ranging. This helps counter the superior armor of melee warriors. Generally when I use range to attack melee warriors, they resort to protection from ranged attacks anyway. Range attack is very deadly as it is, if there were a prayer to make it more accurate, for F2p at least, it would become way overpowered. Magics ability to bind is far and away superior to any prayer that benefits melee stats. -
I hadn't even thought of the implications of turning private chat off for categories of friends. This would be especially useful for clan pk trips, where you don't want everyone on your friends list to know where you are, but you do want to be able to communicate with clan members. I would still prefer a greater number of categories for a friends list, but there is something to be said for simplicity.

That idea would really be cool. It would be great if it was retroactive, so that you could see the smith of all the weapons currently in circulation. I think it would really reinvigorate the smithing skill. I bet a sought after weapon would be Bluerose13x rune scimitars. Probably a very rare item.

This is exactly the problem with ess. My friend used to buy ess for 30 gp, and sell them for 50 gp, and that was only two weeks ago. The value of ess has taken a nose dive thanks to the cheaters.

Here's some quotes pertaining to halberds I got off of a few websites. From what I gather, the real reason for the long haft of a halberd was to defeat plate armors by generating such great force at the axe head. A halberds ability to remove opponents from horses was most likely an afterthought. As far as runescape goes, the halberd would be well suited to most any type of melee battle, so it makes good sense that it be included in runescape. It really gets a rather poor depiction though, as it should have a greater strength bonus than a 2h sword. This weapon should be one of the most effective at killing enemies wearing armor, far more capable than a scimitar for instance.

One could just as easily say combat is for the purpose of raising your other skills. For instance, your combat level is to help fend off attackers while mining rune. It's all a matter of perspective, and by no means does everything lead back to combat for me.

don't know, but i think overheard someone here on forums saying jagex don't exactly like skill pures, is that right? I could see that, because they don't really want everybody starting 10 or 15 accounts for each skill. But it's not just skill pures who would benefit from this idea. It really would have a positive affect for everybody.
-
I think it's a great idea. Why hasn't this been done a long time ago?
-
But if you ignore them now and they think you're autoing, you just get reported. Is that the way you'd prefer things worked? You could still ignore other players if you so choose, but when the report warning comes up, you address it, and you're done. Nothing says you have to go into detailed conversation with anybody. You get a chance to prevent yourself being reported, and you don't have to say a single word to anybody. You can be just as antisocial as you please, but you might get what amounts to one more random event every few hours. I really can't see why this is such a terrifying prospect.
-
My friend got banned for macroing, because he buried big bones the entire time he was playing for 7 days or so. He successfully ban appealed, but lost his account for several days due to this mistake. You've made my point in your argument. If you can't tell the difference between an autoer and real player, then you send a report, how is that less bad? This idea would cut down on reports flooding Jagex, by reducing the reports sent on people who were just afk briefly. On top of that, people who were afk too long and missed the warning, can immediately take steps to inform Jagex that they were merely afk, instead of waiting to be banned a week later. This report warning would be no more inconveniencing than random events, but we all get by with random events as they are. Nobody is saying we should make it to where players can spam you nonstop with random events, yet that seems to be the conclusion you all have jumped to immediately. There would obviously be a limit to how many you can receive in a given timeframe.

Call me crazy, but weren't there 6 yews there before the rimmington update? I could have sworn there used to be more yews there. Also this is an area I like to call 'macrotown' these days.
-
This is why I think it would be important that it not be simply a one click response. Like I said, it could be one of those boxes filled with random letters and number of various fonts. Shade bandyt brings up another advantage. If you are reported accidentally via this report warning, you'll be able to demonstrate why you were reported. For instance you'll know the time it happened, and maybe you posted to the forums at that time. You'll be able to supply the post you made as evidence in your defense. You'll be able to proactively defend yourself from mistaken reports. This is far and away better to trying to log in, only to discover you were wrongfully banned for a report sent last week. If this happens, you have no clue what you were doing when the report was sent, and you don't know why you may have appeared to be cheating. At this point you're only recourse is to throw yourself to the mercy of Jagex and get a black mark.
-
Someone wearing rune is almost certainly not an autoer. They probably just went afk and got a random.
-
I make 333k per hour rune mining. F2p rune mining I might add.
-
That's a good point you raise Sprite. Low leveled players would be most commonly mistaken for autoers. Even if a new player couldn't respond to the warning, upon Jagex review their skills would easily exonerate them of macroing.
