  1. How? A lot more people get xp? People always through around buzzphraises like game breaking and don't even say how this will break the game.
  2. Thus replied to Zackeri's topic in General Discussion
Ban everyone who ever botted, ever. Even autotyped.
  3. Technically this is very different from what jagex did the last few weekends, because the xp doesn't deteriorate. Clever wordplay, but they didn't lie. And even if they did, is it really that bad that they lied about THIS? There are much worse things that could have happened, don't flip a shit over the small things. If you keep playing thinking what if some better/faster update happens in 6 months, you aren't actually playing. This isn't investment banking, this is a game. Sure you used your charms. Tough luck. I blew hundreds of millions on skills that could have been done this weekend too. Do you really think I'm sweating it? What matters to me is that I got those skills. And it's your fault for using those charms. Maybe you should have saved them for 30x weekend 10 years from now. You aren't mad that Jagex lied; you are mad because you sold your supplies or used them before the weekend showed up.
  4. I enjoyed Arseus' article. And I would like to add that Jagex chose some pretty bad pmods the first time around. When their job was to uphold the rules, they didn't. I knew a pmod in my clan who started muting people in the rival clan who were calling piles during a clan war. I knew plenty of pmods who would stand at Varrock, see the obvious autotypers, and let them type while saying "I don't have to do anything" if asked. Finally, I have seen too many mid level pmods. i don't mean level 3 skillers, I mean level 80s who have no idea how to play the game let alone moderate its community. And pmods spamming through chat is the most annoying thing in the game.
  5. If they told us months ago prices would be even worse. It balances out eventually.
  6. Were you going to train slayer normally that weekend if it wasn't announced? If not, I don't care. Just pretend slayer didn't get a 2x boost. And if you were the xp bonus will help outweigh the slowdown. Again, no big deal. It's one weekend.
  7. If you are complaining because you HAVE to play 48 hours instead of 13 hours on previous weekends, you have a serious problem. If you are complaining because you say Jagex wants people to play 48 hours, you are lying to yourself just to make it look like Jagex is in the wrong again. And don't bring up "Jagex is hypocritical" bullshit. it's not like they are selling bxp weekends. Stop lying to yourselves, the only reasons you are mad is: 1) You didn't get to save up your raw materials for the last 6 months 2) You got the 99s between last xp weekend and this one 3) You are maxed/comp cape and don't want anyone else to get it 4) You won't be here that weekend Jagex did something right for once, and still you idiots complain. And just in case some retard says I'm going to be on 48 hours, I won't be on that weekend. Maybe you too need to calm down instead of complaining about hypocrisy of a videogame developer or whatever you disguise your rage as.
  8. And that last part is bad how? They can play however they want to play. Hell, get bloodclots for all I care. I probably won't even be on this weekend. Didn't even participate in the last 2.
  9. EDIT: Something weird happened.
  10. Where does SOF or Solomon appear in their post? I wish I could slap you irl. Uh, I was just listing the updates we have seen over the last few months. So they do something different and even offer free players something, and you don't have to do microtransactions to do it. And you still complain. I owe you one slap.
  11. Where does SOF or Solomon appear in their post? I wish I could slap you irl.
  12. So for anyone keeping score: 1: Complain about bonus exp weekends. 2: Complain when bonus exp weekends are replaced with promotions like the mad may necklace and promissory note. 3: Complain when they announce a bonus exp weekend that's also available to F2P'ers. This exactly. I hate to say this, but to everyone complaining: just [bleep]ing quit if you are complaining about something like this, because you are insatiable.
  13. So why is everyone mad? Because you couldn't get your raw materials fast enough? Get over yourselves. The game is a grindfest already. One bonus weekend won't do anything. You should be happy Jagex went against their word for once. Finally, you don't have to PAY to get this bonus xp.
  14. It's not just the 5% items. Daily and weekly bonus xp, skill pendants, auras plus all the various skills individual bonuses coupled with future updates will make leveling faster. Now, I'm not up on each skills efficient (ie not gods awful expensive) method of leveling, but if you cap out at 100k xp/hour that means 1,000 hours. Shaving off 50 hours is noticeable. The 3x imaginary boost shaves off 660 hours. Future updates likely allow a more smooth linear gain per level meaning (such as rising from 100k to 200k xp per hour) if not much jumps that will shave time off. But here's the kicker: I'm not expecting a high percentage of players to max out this time. Yes, the main reason is to spread out player accomplishment from those that grind out 10k+ hours versus those that "only" put is 1k+ hours. RS seems to be more about the grind at the high level, so why not acknowledge it with a visible skill total to reflect the hours? To put it in perspective: your #13 with 2.57 billion Xp would still not be maxed out in all skills cause most of that XP is from the extra 100m XP by capping easier to grind skills. Getting 100m in each of the skills would take much, much more time and cost so you're not as likely to see the first 100 players maxed out for a long time. I spat out my drink almost laughing, especially at that second sentence. Like I said, even 3x xp would barely help. If you really think this is a good idea I am floored. Also that last sentence is wrong, because wouldn't EVER see 100 players maxed. The grind is a huge problem and turn off for many people from Runescape. People can't even get 95 herblore because of no money, even though everyone always says money is everywhere. Hell, you can't even get 99 combat stats. Do you even know what your "200kxp/h" implies? If, on average including every skill, it is 200k/h per skill, it would take 13000 hours to get 120 everything. That is 542 DAYS. And that doesn't even count time it takes to make money, even time spent enjoying the game. Add 43 more days to that when Jagex releases the 2 new skills. And also this is assuming average xp/h will increase to 200k. If it stays at current rates, which is more likely, you can double that time. Almost 1200 days straight. The current xp rates getting to 99 are already ludicrous. A full time job is 40h/week. There are 28800 hours in 1200 days. That means 720 weeks if you take Runescape as a job. So it would take 14 years for a new account to get 120 everything. 7 years if the 200k/h method. And this is if you know exactly what you are doing from the start, and provided you even start with 200k/h at level 1. Your idea would only make it worse, as Runescape will become a game where only the unemployed and welfare queens are able to get anywhere.
  15. The way xp rates are now, no. 25 skills at 120 is 2.6 BILLION xp. To put that into perspective, rank 13 has 2.57 billion xp. I find it hilarious how the OP states the 5% outfits like those are actually significantly useful. Even if they were 3x xp outfits that never degraded, it would still take a long time. Also it's funny reading previous comments supporting the idea of all skills lvl 120 and they are like 1500 total. Good freaking luck kids. I'm nearly maxed and I think this is a crazy bad idea.
  16. 27 addy ore. Inside bag was: 27 addy ore. Crap
  17. They use an in-house version control system. This means they have pretty much every server and client revision since 2002 cached on a server :). (hint, if you press the tilde key ["~"], you can see the current client revision on the bottom right [734.1 at the time of this post]). Andrew mentioned he had Devious Mud still on a backup server. They specifically said at Runefest that they do not have a stored version of 2006 Runescape, so if they were to do that, they would have to code it anew, which isn't worth the hassle considering that almost all players will soon quit again after finding out that RS 2006 wasn't as glorious as their nostalgia made it out to be. This exactly. RS 2006 was crap too, nostalgia is hitting people too hard.
  18. Did you buy any spins? They don't ban anyone who ever bought spins
  19. Ban everyone who has ever botted or used autotypers. Shouldn't be any leniency. They are all scum.
  20. If you can make the money back faster, there is no reason not to use the most expensive methods you can use. Time is money, so if I could be spending the time nexing instead, I'm not going to bother cooking tuna to 94 or not do runespan. It took you 2 months to make 68m. I can make that in a day. Also maples to 99 is so bad its hilarious
  21. If you really wanted no one to reply to this thread, why are you mincing words? Just say it. Find a random idea on the suggestions forum, add a big "What if" to the beginning, and then ask everyone's opinion at the end. When you're done, tell me what the difference between that and this is. The difference is this thread will get considerably more posts and the suggestion thread will get one page of posts at most.
  22. For this to even work the game would need major overhauls. Basically whoever gets access to high end things first like ancient magics automatically wins. Entire clans who have that can shut down other clans. It's like what happened in TOR in the first week, where the Sith side had a massive advantage and would spawn camp until the game became unplayable. Also the xp system is too slow. As said before, it would be impossible to progress past a certain point without getting pked and losing it all. Finally, quests would have to be overhauled to take place in mostly safe areas. I could only imagine clans 24/7 camping ancient magics quest areas (or even rune rocks and resource areas) just to make sure no one else gets them. If you want any indication of how impossible it would be to play, just remember what happened when pk worlds were introduced and try to imagine playing that way. If you really wanted no one to reply to this thread, why are you mincing words? Just say it.
  23. Sorry guys I have to agree with Arceus now. My little cousin was watching me as I was playing and I ran across one of those characters with the flesh colored pants. He them proceeded to rip off all his clothes and run naked out the house. When I finally caught up to him he was raping a poor old woman's Shihtzu while police were trying to apprehend him. One of the cops died trying to put handcuffs on him. The other is braindead. All of this could have been prevented if we were only more sensitive towards the horrible and controversial subject of tan colored pants.
  24. I'd say it's both seeing as they NEED the underlying mechanism to detect and ban bots to be working for this to have any impact at all. The graphics and bay area are just nice cosmetic add-ons to add visibility to the fight. After all now people say oh jagex never ban them, I see the same bots here all day blah blah; it's much more posititve (and off-putting to potential botters) if they can actively see bots being removed. They even said in interviews and stuff the big bot thing IS this new system that detects and auto-bans. ...but do you really need a giant dragon's hand coming down from the heavens to serve as a visual indicator that Jagex is doing something to fight bots? A simple arrow over the player's head and text in the chat box would be sufficient enough notice IMO. Now you are just trying to find fault with Jagex just for the sake of finding a problem. If it was a simple arrow you probably would have said it isn't extreme or obvious enough. I still think the whole idea is just to appease players, but if you can actually see bots getting banned instantly that's pretty cool.
  25. I don't see whats wrong that's pretty hot.
