  1. Its back and its updated with more information then ever!!! The first reply to this thread is a post of mine in which I am sharing my suggested strategies... Along with this I am creditting everyone who sparked an idea worth putting on that suggestion post... Please read it carefully, and weigh in, and do not be afraid to contradict what is in that post, I read ALL replies here... It is by no means final, or approved (yet) by the Tip.it Staff, so do not asume that this is "THE plan"... Tip.it officials will come with an announcement when finalized plans are, well, finalized... Lets all work together and giving them the best ideas possible!
  2. I am requesting Ice bursters/barragers and people with high range to report to report to clanchat TS_Stormrage Tal Shiar will show you what good Castlewars defense is...
  3. Tried Wally card? you can subscribe with that I think... You have to search the Runescape site to see what they allow and what they dont allow...
  4. Well done lad :) I knew Deathmath was a good addition to both my clan and the writing team :) Also worth noting; this is one of the first somewhat jagex-critical articles ever allowed to be posted, and you kept it clean :) Once again; well done...
  5. Deathmath is sarcastic... I posted the exact same thing you did (even less informative) and it got deleted form this thread... I explained the reasons for this at the top of the page, and I hope that some admin or mod will look into this and bring some sense into this whole situation of not posting ideas... I've reported my own post so that they'll take a look at this...
  6. Those are the ones I meant, my bad :) will edit now...
  7. WTF?? Ok, this is completely incomprehensible... Outrageous even... This video has more information (some of it doesnt even make sense, read below) then I ever posted in my post... My post got removed outright with the reason "Please dont display tactics publicly yet"... If the staff wants to keep information secret, I have a few tips for them; 1: Dont remove posts without displaying this "new rule" to the public... 2: Do a better job of setting your "MSSW Strategy Council" up faster 3: Dont be such hypocrits... Something seriously needs to change with the attitude of the mods and/or admins, otherwise I'll be wearing anything but a green cape from now on, and I hope more people come to their senses as well... For those that dont remember what this is about, I refer you to here Seriously, about the video: Good way to display the location and all, but the inventory set-up is WAY wrong... No Lobsters!!! Instead, have 2 Strength Potions, 6-10 Anchovie Pizzas, and the rest topped off with Swordfish... Otherwise, god job :)
  8. This weekend, the TET event is going to Fist of Guthix... Take advantage of this and get those 50 tokens (or 8 tokens to recharge a bought worn-out pair)
  9. Preaching to the chior here... I have had 2 Champion Scroll drops and succeeded in both: Giant and Hobgoblin... I havent been activly hunting fo rthose, but I HAVE been activly hunting for the Ghoul Champion Scroll... I have lost track after 7500 kills (The chance of one dropping is roughly 1/5000), but having 1700 Gold Charms, which is a 1 in 5 drop, says something :) Its known that higher level monsters drop them easier then lower level monsters... 1-2k imps is nothing... If you really want one, expect to be there till you have the 4k kill count half a dozen times ALL ON IMPS...
  10. Anything other then "The [noun] of the [adjective] [noun]" is a good clan name... Then again, just names is best, it doesnt have to mean anything, or portray soemthing you have to live up to...
  11. While you can have some basic instructions prepared for the large common crowd of non-clan people here on tipit, Clans can perform organised specific tasks in this war... A few examples are camping out their higher levels at the energy barrier, to prevent any reforming... Or trying to take the upper floor on the buildings... Although I am of the opinion that its best not to go on the ladder at all...
  12. I dont want to get into a discussion here, but I do wish to make a few points clear: 1: The post I made had NO tactics in them at all, just a quick overview on what we did last time, what we're facing this time, and what adjustments might need to be made... On top of that it had a neat picture of the ideal equipment set-up that any idiot can figure out... 2: You claim that tactics were being discussed in the Conclave and CIC, but I can assure you that its not... I know a new forum was to be set up, but so far nothing... I havent even been added yet... I know this is irrelevant, but since this is an event for ALL tipiters, shouldnt ALL tipiters weigh in on this? The clan section of tipit, well, lets just say it has quite some potential to realise... The clans in it are far from the greatest, including my own, and the council that is supposed to rule over the clan section is to decide what is best for the rest of Tip.it..? Even though clans are more experienced in war in general, I wish you good luck trying to get away with it... 3: I wouldve been happy if you had edited the content of my post and PM-ed me the original, instead of outright deleting it... I'm not hard to work with, infact, any criticism I have had on the post Ive made was already weighed in in the next great edit of the 2nd post I made... I'm trying to help... I'm not about to let bureaucracy ruin this... Deleting "tactics" (seriously, it was little more then an introductory post) from the person who had the biggest hand in bringing Tip.it the victory last time around isnt helping... I dont care who gets to lead the war, last year DBZ did and he took the glory... I'm fine and dandy with that... But if you're in the habit of silencing people who are trying to help the inexperienced people make sense of it all, then I can GUARANTEE that this isn't going down in the history books as a win for the green side...
  13. Yeah, hurry up, a lot of people are eager to spill their ideas :) I'm going to ask Dustin if he is taking any action on RSC's refusal to participate... Would be a shame to see a decent opponent leave the battlefield without a fight...
  14. I would not count them out yet... And certainly not get over-confident that they will be a no-show... I do agree its good that there's some in-fighting amongst those who use RSC, but they could decide to show up and prove their cockyness is justified... They are right in saying they have the better warriors, organisation, and general experience in large battles... And we can't go on our own awesomeness of last years battle... If we are to win, it will have to be with NUMBERS... HUNDREDS of people in a green cape (39), that is what we need, and we need to make people aware of this as fast as possible... So put the MSSW sig in, and tell your friends to tell their friends... Another note for those who want to pre-meet their fellow Tip.iters and get tokens for the Steel Gauntlets; There is a TET event going to happen in Fist of Guthix
  15. Sure, start off at Edgeville... I have no dout that we'll see people running between Bounty Hunter, the Chaos Temple (where they sell our capes), Clanwars, and Edgeville... So that section of the Wilderness should be safe to travel (I do believe Fist of Guthix is in there somewhere too) As for the questions on the outfit: Steel Gauntlets are the best by far, providing 5 additional Slash defense points... Safety Gloves arent that good... And you only need to win like 3 or 4 games of Fist of Guthix to be able to buy the Steel Gauntlets; they cost only 50 tokens... The Steel Kilt ;) is lighter then the Platelegs, and trust me there will be a lot of running... And Lem2222, I'm very curious as to how you can add stuff to this outfit... Its the best out there allowed for this occasion...
  16. Yes, so EVERYONE can participate... All you need is 50gp to buy a cape form the proper person (see instructions post on page 1)...
  17. First batch of instructions released, please read this post...
  18. Everyone start putting the MSSW thing with BOLD and colors in your sig... spread it to your friends, and ask them to spread it to there friends and have them ask their friends to spread it to their friend's friends...
  19. Sacrificing full steel with a rune scimi is nothing? Even in full gear thats not a whole lot to sacrifice... Hell, I'll give you the set of steel with an ammy to go :) I'll throw in some food as well :)
  20. And DFS is still the best shield when fighting all metals (including mithrils)...
  21. This is an UNOFFICIAL post that is not an official Multi Site Steel War Tip.it Post. One Will be made soon ~Das This one WILL however be updated frequently, with a suggested strategy for ALL to read, AND to comment on with suggestions, omissions or ideas! Latest update on: October 16th, 23:44 GMT - Look for the LIME parts INTRODUCTION Before talking about any strategies, allow me to (re-)introduce this event... This will be the 4th time that colossal armies from major fansites clash in a massive free for all fight in a huge effort to prove which fansite has the most and the best warriors... Two times so far RSC won... And not surprisingly, as they have quite a few well organised clans that support them... Clans that have fought against and along side one another for years... Tip.it won the last round... And not for a a lack of trying by the other sites, but let it be said that the only reason that we won is that we attracted ONE THOUSAND souls to march to their deaths with a green cape on their backs... This time around, things will be different... RSC will definitly want revenge, and a new fansite has joined in the mix known as Pure Community... I'm working hard and expecting full well to see atleast another thousand people with Cape 39 marching on that Ancient yet ruined castle, int he far North-East of the wilderness... But numbers alone aren't going to get us there... To put it in terms we can all understand: RSC/Pure Community = Spartans Tip.it = Persians So what lessons have we learned from that movie? Other then Arrows being kind of pointless :P Stick to the areas where our numbers count... Multi combat zones... (a crude map detailing this will soon be released) OUTFIT AND INVENTORY I'd also like a word with you on the outfit we'll be wearing... Steel Full Helm Steel Platebody Steel Plateskirt Steel Kiteshield Fighter (or Fancy) boots Teamcape 39 (Tip.it's cape makes others who wear it show up blue on the minimap, but we wont kill you if you wear other green-ish capes) Explorers Ring (you can get it back easily when you lose it) Rune Scimitar (fast and accurate attacks) or Corrupt Dragon items if you are willing to use them!!! Power Amulet (this helps both offensivly and defensivly, if you are confident to stay alive a long time, you can use Strength as well) Steel Gauntlets (from the FoG minigame, they are very cheap and a lot better then Green D'hide Vambraces) As you can see, I stayed within the boundries of what is allowed, and still provided a pretty effective outfit... You may wish to go for a Rune 2hander, but the slowness of the attacks, especially with that many people around, is not weighing up against the speed of a Scimitar... Work on getting these items as soon as possible, as well as getting your Attack and Strength levels up just a notch extra before the war is upon us... [hide=BATTLEAXE REVIEW]Some people suggested the Battleaxe as a weapon. As it is more powerful (20 added strength points compared to the Scimitar) its "increased" accuracy on both Slash and Crush attacks is barely noticable. You would be sacrificing 3 attempts to hit your opponent for 2 in the same amount of time, in the hopes of hitting slightly higher (up to 4 damage added to your highest possible hit). If you plan on staying in the Single Combat zone, you may wish to use this, but with the help of your fellow Tip.iters in the Multi Zone, rapidly dishing out the damage, dont waste your time and use the fast Scimitar instead.[/hide] Inventory wise its pretty straightforward: 2 Strength Potions (4 dose) 6-10 Anchovie Pizza (they heal 9 per bite, a pizza has 2 halves, 18hp healed) 16-20 Swordfish (healing 14) As I said, pretty simple set-up. You can wolf down your Swordfish when you're under attack, but for just healing back up, Anchovie Pizzas are best used. The Strength Potions have an obvious reason, and dont be afraid to use another dose before your Strengh level has returned to normal... I chose this set-up and inventory based on the fact that we have OVERWHELMING numbers of (and I hate to say this) inexperienced people... These items allow for dishing out quick and relativly high and accurate damage, ignoring the need to stay alive somewhat... The one thing we can do easily is replace the fallen in the battle, and with such overwhelming numbers, they cannot target all of us at once, while we CAN target all of them at once... Hence the main focus on Accuracy, Strength and Speed, rather then the need to defend ourselves... Those who are confident tankers (and you know who you are) may substitute a unit of food or a Strength Potion for a Holy Symbol (credit to Killerred005)... When attacked this allows your prayer to last longer, and it adds minor defensive capabilities as well... It has been suggested to bring a magical Staff to help you tank, since it has some minor defensive capabilities... IT IS MY BELIEF that such an item in a war where maging is a huge no-no will only attract more attackers on you... Furthermore to prevent claims of cheating, we should NOT be bringing such items with us... CONSCRIPTION As I understand it, a number of measures are taken to alert EVERYONE to the new and upcoming War, inclouding an upcoming alert on the main website... But you can help! Adding a banner or link to your Signature which links back to this thread, especially on forums other then Tip.it (such as your clan, or other group) is a huge help, but what counts the most, is you telling your friends about this... And have them tell their friends about this... And if they are in a clan, why not bring the whole clan along? And why not have everyone in that clan bring THEIR friends..? Anywho, you get the picture... Now, the biggest challenge: Getting those hundreds of people on the server, and having them stay logged in long enough so that the other major fansites cant have the same number on that server when the time comes... Last time there were people on our gathering spot (Edgeville) already in full gear TWELVE HOURS before we were supposed to march into the Wilderness... And what were they doing? Cooking food, gathering capes, trading scimies, and some were in Varrock smithing steel... Thats what you will probably see me and a good number of my clan do, and we'll be handing out supplies freely (BYOW; Bring your own weapon such as a Rune Scim, Battleaxe, or 2hander)... So what can you do? Be early! Be early and stay put... Just hang with other tipiters (you might make new friends), help make or distribute supplies... Keeping your spot on the server means 1 spot the enemy cannot take... Last time we issued instructions to log in 1 hour early, and it worked brilliantly... This time I'd like to make it ATLEAST 90 minutes, but preferably 2 hours in advance of this fight... We will be using Edgeville bank (and BANK ONLY, read more later) once again as our Rallypoint... From there DBZ lead us last time to the Ancient Ruins in the Wilderness, this time we're doing the exact same thing... Why Edgeville? It's been Tip.it's Rallypoint since the MSSW ever began, it has a bank, and its not far from things such as Monastary, Anvils or the Grand Exchange... More on this in the Locations section, to be added soon... PRAYER First, boost your Prayer points beyond their maximum if you can. F2P people can get 2 points from the Monastary, but members can get 8 points from the Oog'log pool, and a WHOLE BUNCH more using the Ancient Mace special ability... I've tested it and it carries over to the F2P server where the fight will be on. If you want to look up how much of an effect it can be, just check out my stats... Add some strength boosting gear, and I can hit a 19 with an Ancient Mace, allowing me to start the battle with 89/70 Prayer... This has been a topic of discussion for a while now and I want people to post their opinions and ideas... Basicly, for this fight, we'll be using 4 Prayers: - Attack +15% - Strength +15% - Defense +15% - Melee Protect Turning them all on right when the fight starts, and you're out within a minute... The one you'll be using the most is Attack +15%. Straight from the start, whenever you're attacking someone equal or higher combat level then yourself use this one. The added accuracy with your Strength Potion combined gives you the edge you need. ofcourse, if you happen to have 20 friends attacking the same guy, dont bother :) You can keep using this prayer till you have about 10-12 points left... Strength +15% is one you will probably not use a lot, but there are a few occasions where it might be neccisary. If you have trouble killing your current target because he keeps running away, or eats slightly faster then you and your team is hitting him, turn this on in conjunction with Attack +15%, and take a sip of your Strength Potion... Dont forget to turn it off when you see its no longer needed... Then there are those times when you will be attacked, and that is where the last few prayers come in... If you happen to have been painted (aka, you're the next that they want to see dead), both Defense +15% and Melee Protect should be used at the same time to minimize damage (this is what those 10-12 points are for)... While you have these turned on, and are wolfing down your food to stay alive, you can either attempt to tank it out (running behind a corner so your enemies get stuck), or run as fast as you can to an area full of friendlies (thats us)... If you happen to drag a whole group of enemies in the heart of a field full of green capes, then the enemy will not last long... This is particularly usefull when to drag higher levelled enemies from Single combat to Multi combat zones... But I'm getting ahead of my self, Strategies during the actual fight will be posted later! STAY TUNED!!! UPDATE: LOCATIONS First, lets start with the location we are supposed to rally at: Edgeville. Close to Varrock for smithing more Steel Stuff, or the Grand Exchange to buy other needed supplies. Edgeville has ranges to cook your food on (I'm quite sure someone will start a fire though). The other location you must know is where the Ancient Ruined castle is in the Wilderness, and you should study http://this map carefully and see the obvious route we will take to it; North-east to Clanwars, then North and east around Clanwars, continuing further north. Staying on this path increases the likelyhood of meeting other friendly soldiers. DO NOT GO TOO FAR OUT OF THE BANK WHEN WE'RE STILL AT EDGEVILLE, YOU ARE THEN AT RISK TO BE KILLED!!! On the PvP world, when you are early, it is VERY tempting to go out of the bank and wander around... DO NOT DO THIS!!! People can be attacked when they are 1 foot outside of the bank, and with any luck there wont be any enemies... But I expect them to fight dirty against our overwhelming odds... Clans such as my own will however organise a few strike forces. We have some rune and runes to spare, and if a few people are playing the pain-in-the-[wagon], then we might strike out quickly to kill them, discouraging them from trying that again. However, IF another clan decides to lay siege to Edgeville bank, we could be in deep trouble... Mind you it is a single combat zone around Edgeville, this means you will only have 1 person attacking you at a time, so be on your toes for the people who can attack you because you are in their range... At ALL times, wear your TEAMCAPE!!! (teamcape nr 39) We will be able to tell who is the enemy and who is not... USE THE MINIMAP TO NAVIGATE!!! CLICKING ON THE MAINSCREEN MAY CAUSE HEADACHES, FRIENDLY HEALTH BAR SHRINKAGE AND HARD FEELINGS!!! Usually as a result of accidently attacking a friendly. And finally; pay attention to orders being shouted in the designated ClanChats, if we leave, it is imperitive that we ALL leave, and if we get mugged along the way to the battlefield, it isnt a good idea to just keep walking... Form up, and kill the ones who seem to jump the gun :) STRATEGY Well, our strategy is to kill every last person who's cape isn't some shade of green. To do this we need a couple of tactics. Lets start with a few defensive moves (remember prayer usage) after which I'll try to line out IN SIMPLE TERMS the most efficient ways of killing the enemy. Defense: As I previously stated, we have the numbers, but not the skill, and maybe not even the levels. So rather then just sticking to a fight, if you want to make it hard for your opponents, we'll do something called Tanking. Its quite easy. You've all once followed a friend around and then got stuck behind some fence or tree or what not... Here's an example: The person in full rune was attacking me. I ran to the wall and made a sharp U-turn around it, but my opponent got stuck behind it. he is not attacking me now, and if we HAD to race, I am 2 squares ahead of him, meaning he cannot hit me. If I were to make a dash for it, I would run west, leaving my opponent stuck behind the wall, forcing him to find a new target. However, if he "re-aquires" me as a target and starts hitting me again, I can do the same thing again at the Blue dot, making a U-turn around that wall... Same thing, only this time I saw the door was open and ran into the building, again making an immediate U-turn. I could right now go upstairs or out the other door, running east or south around the building. Another highly valuable piece of defensive advise is to ALWAYS eat when you can without wasting hitpoints. If you have 68/70hp dont eat. If you have 60 or lower/70hp eat half an Anchovie Pizza (->69/70). If you have 56 or lower/70hp, eat a Swordfish (->70/70). This means you should ALWAYS BE AS CLOSE TO FULL HEALTH AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT WASTING FOOD!! Do not worry about wasting food. While you can now, due to the recent update, pick up 22 Swordfish every 15 minutes (when having completed all F2P Quests), the floor will be littered with them! I STRONGLY recommend you to read the latest updates about drops on PvP worlds. These are basic defensive tactics, and THEY WILL BE USED AGAINST US!!! BE PREPARED!!! If you feel kind of useless and can't seem to find your targets, stand at these type of locations (there are more), waiting for a non-green cape to turn the corner, and thats when you whack him. They cannot run forever, but if we spread ourselves a tiny bit, it will look like we CAN. Offense: Finally, the most important part. SLAUGHTERING THEM ALL!!! So how do we do this before they kill us? Simple, kill them faster then they can kill us. And because we have the favor of numbers, we'll be putting multiple people on a single target. Sounds easy enough doesn't it? It's a little more complicated then that, so, we'll start by setting some basic rules: - Know your limits, and be sure to recognize people with Corrupt Dragon items. They should die first and fast! - 5 people of level 90 can kill a level 100 with ease, and a level 110 with difficulty - A level 100 can easily kill 5 lvl 70s - Dont be stingy with your Super Strengths or Food. More is dropped as people are getting killed. - Always help with killing someone, do not target someone yourself - Keep an eye out for targets being "called". That last one is the one I will explain further, as it's all we need. Currently, a leadership is selected, but do not be surprised if several other un-official people will start saying stuff such as "Tip black" or "T rune" or "Tipit storm". What this means is that this caller (or pile-leader, or battle-commander) wants everyone in his vicinity to target and kill someone who has the word black, rune, or storm respectivly in their name. For example, my name is TS Stormrage. I might be referred to as "TS" "Storm" or "Stormrage". Right-click in the vicinity of the person just ordering the kill to find the intended target, and select to attack him. After that repeat the exact same thing that your caller just said, so anyone else also wanting to kill him. I dug up this moldy video of a few noob Tip.it clans  flexing their muscles before the main MSSW event. You can see them repeating the order being given so the rest of the people know where the current target can roughly be found.: When attacking a person who is fleeing far south to the Single Zone, DO NOT FOLLOW! Most likely he will have friends standing by to help him pick everyone off 1 by 1. The higher levelled amongst us may wish to follow in order to finish him off. So put AUTO-RETALIATE off... ANOTHER UPDATE Das has released the names of the Leader [L] and Generals [G]. In his words: The bold men who lead us to victory: [L] Dbzruler72, Leader of *-P.K.Masters-*, Also the leader during the last MSSW [G] Red Fat 1, Warlord of Veni Vedi Vici [G] Das1330, Founder of Keepers of Forgotten Honour, currently un-afiliated with a clan, Tip.it Admin [G] Thiesje2, Leader of Clan Faith [G] Sanpedro88, Leader of Warriors of Fury [G] Masaca1, Leader of Warriors of Fury [G] Killerred005, Co-Leader of *-P.K.Masters-* [G] Valaraz, Leader of THE [G] Elit9, Former leader of Clan Forbidden, Currently a Comrade [G] Mario Sunny, Former CIC leader, Former Events organiser in the Tal Shiar Alliance, Former CTET leader [G] Ts Stormrage, Leader of the Tal Shiar Alliance, author of this post A number of ClanChats will be used to help coordinate the war easier. Its imperitive that you join these and find your/a "Fall In" Leader. This means you sit in their ClanChat, and follow them around in battle following their orders as explained earlier. People of your ClanChat appear purple on your minimap. Use this to see where your team is if you happen to have lost track of them... (Blue is same Teamcape, and Green is ofcourse, Friends...) CLOSING THOUGHTS That is about all there is that I have to suggest. I will keep updating this post with new information coming in, but right now, all we can do is make sure we gather as many people as we did last time. I'm very confident in the leadership skills that some Tip.iters will take upon them, as I am also confident that the less experienced amongst us will follow their instructions. Clans amongst us will try and organise themselves and may hold a strategy more adapted to their own wants and needs. A group of extremely high levelled players way wish to fight the single zone fights as they can easily handle themselves against others. But most important thing to remember is to have fun. The plan is here for those taking Tip.it's command to take into consideration to use, but this is what the collective minds of a dedicated few have come up with. If all else fails, atleast remember the lessons learned in this. Good fight, Good evening, and Good fun... PvP WORLD UPDATE!!! With the PvP world update, a few things have changed, but everything is in essence still the same. You can still run around corners to get rid of a pile of enemies, but you'll have more difficulty this time as they are far and wide apart... Also Corrupt Dragon weapons is a thing to watch out for, and the leaders will try and take these guys out fast, as they probably represent the most danger to us, and this is because the onyl way to GET such an item is to be good at killing other people ON PvP worlds... One last time, and I cant stress this enough: Stay within the boundries of Edgeville Bank, there is where you cant be attacked. If it is safe to venture out a little, to start a fire and cook some more food, then do so while wearing your teamcape! It is very important to wear this at all times, it is what says to everyone else wearing the same cape that you are a friend and it means you cannot left-click to attack him (something EXTREMELY usefull when crossing the wilderness ditch... I doubt anyone is stupid enough to attack a team of hundreds of people, so if we are a bit organised in keeping the trash away from Edgeville, we should be just fine. I do expect masses of chaos as there is simply not enough room for us all so everyone should do their best to warn others to go back inside the bank in case of an attack on Edgeville...
  22. Yes, "if"... I fully intend on getting atleast 1k people on the server again in a green cape before the war starts... I'm quite sure we can do it, but I want the negative "we wont win" attitudes checked at the door :)
  23. Agreed, it's pretty much us vs RSC/Zybez... I've said it before and I said it again... Thats basicly the Persians (us) against the Spartans (Zybez)... So we gotta hit them where the numbers count... Rule #1; Stick to multizone areas...
  24. You have NO IDEA how many tip.it users do not use the forums... But do not worry, Ive already asked around, and a few of the neccisary steps to alert everyone will definitly be taken :) This ranges from a simple message on the frontpage, towards one of my Tip.it Times being dedicated entirely to it...
