Jealousy
So I'm wondering ... do people here get jealous often? The reason I ask this is because I've found I'm becoming increasingly jealous, bitter and cynnical towards the success of others. Maybe there are some situations where I feel I deserved to be the recipient of what I'm jealous of, but sometimes perhaps it's part of my own concept. At my school, every year we have special awards for students excelling in particular subjects for their respective year groups. These range from the arts (music, drama, dance), to the technologies (graphic design, multimedia, computer systems), to the sciences (physics, chemistry, biology, maths), the humanities, (english, geography, Italian, history etc) and the trades (woodwork, metalwork etc). Now, a friend of mine whom I sit next to in biology won the award for that and woodwork. I was rather spiteful towards him because of this as I think there are many people who may have deserved the biology award more, but perhaps that is just my dellusioned concept. Additionally, psychology; the subject in which I'm the best in the class, has no award. So I'm pretty spiteful about that too. This may seem like a big whine but back to the main point - are you a jealous person? Why/why not?

{MFAI}WELCOME! Learn and ask your questions about Islam here
As much as I dislike organized religion ... that was a mighty fine post. I don't have the time or focus to read it all and to absorb it properly, but there are some things I'd like to ask ... Tell me: What are the Islamic standings towards: -Homosexuality -Contraception -Disease (by which I mean: are they believed to be caused by divine entities or have relation to divinity?) Thanks in advance.

Covers VS. Originals
I thought everyone hated Word Up. First time I heard it when I wasn't into KoRn (or much music at all for that matter), I thought it was okay ... then I conformed to my brother's taste and started hating KoRn. It seems a lot of people really despise KoRn's cover but I quite like it.

That guitarist left; they're now only a four-piece. They have a fifth guitarist but he's only live.

Video of a SUV driver being hit with a taser gun
What threat?....I believe that he did taze her....Not threaten her with a taser. He did threaten. He said that if she didn't get out of the car he would tase her. Watch the video before assuming. Oh man....you really aren't that smart are you? We have gone over this...maybe you forgot....here you go.... BREAKING THE LAW AND THEN DISOBEYING A COP NORAMLLY MEANS YOU ARE A THREAT Hey toots, I'M COMPLETELY AWARE OF THAT. But I was using GhostRanger's logic and showing how it was flawed because it is, in essence, speculation. The whole point of this statement is wrong... I think you mean MY logic, he was backing it up....read often? Well, whoever's logic it was, it was proven to be flawed through examples. No, I'm not. I said the THREAT of a taser. He said that if she didn't get off the phone he'd tase her. That's the threat. She could've driven away, but didn't. Yes, she broke the law. Yes, she made a mistake. But your logic of innocent until proven guilty is not applied; there was no proof of her being a threat, yet she was still punished/reprimanded; thus she was guilty without proof. Could you explain to me this overgenerilisation thing again? Because it really doesn't seem to be making much sense.

Sad but true
Interesting how a thread about the atrocities of hate has become full of hate itself ...

Video of a SUV driver being hit with a taser gun
Even with the threat of the taser, she could've easily driven away, but she didn't now, did she? The outcome? It shows unnecessary application of force. I don't know what it is you don't understand there. Haha, innocent until proven guilty? Then why was she tased without a single shred of proof that she was a threat? How hard is it for you to understand? Regardless of this overgeneralisation crap, he was using YOUR logic and applying it to situations, showing the inaccuracy and flaws within such principles.

Sad but true
There will always be hate, just like there will always be love, remorse and sadness. Some people let it dominate; some people can't control that, because they've received hate all of their lives. There's still hope, happiness and love; you just need to find it.

:: The Ultimate Music Type ::
Most forums are probably going to be people who like rock and metal. There are exceptions, of course, but the hip-hop/rap fad is slowly dying out. That's probably because this forum contains some of the more intellectually capable and intelligible members of the Runescape community. Having said that, there are still lots and lots of morons here. Anyhoo, I believe you should add options for Jazz, Blues and Other. My personal favourite genre is industrial, but, y'know, that combines rock, metal, alternative, synth-pop and electronica, so I can't quite vote.

Next gig your going to see?
I didn't like the first line up, but my friends convinced me to go and I had some hope that the second linup would be good. Second lineup was even worse, the only band I like in the line up isn't coming to the gold coast bdo. It's a bit disappointing but meh it should still be fun :? I'm incredibly disappointed with it. The only bands I'd give my attention to if I went would be Mudvayne, Iggy, Mars Volta, possibly M.I.A. and possibly Franz Ferdinand. It seems the organisers have become NME advocates with their awful choice of bands.

Hypnotize - SOAD
It's not yet out - I believe it comes out on the 22nd of this month (two or three days, depending on where you live). However, the entire album can be streamed from here.

What is music? What is good music?
It's a combination of anything. I prefer bands who bring something new to the table; for example, bands that fuse genres, elements, styles, instruments and whatnot (Rage Against The Machine, Coil, Faith No More, New Order etc). My tastes vary from classical interpretations of contemporary artists ("The String Quartet Tribute to ... XYZ"), to country like Johnny Cash, to death metal like Devildriver and spoken word/magick-music such as Coil. It really all depends, but for me at least, there's no formal framework for what makes music so good. It's the absence of formal framework, restrictions and the stretching of those bounds that make it unique and enjoyable for me.

I still use Notepad quite extensively :P Probably oneof the best programs in windows certainly the most used id say Yeah but to be the best windows program doesn't really say much. I mean the day windows invents something that doesn't suck is the day they make a vacuum cleaner.

Covers VS. Originals
I believe Orgy's cover of New Order's Blue Monday outshined the original. It squeezed so much rawness and compressed a seven minute into a mere three minutes without taking anything away from it. Professional Murder Music's cover of Radiohead's High and Dry is amazing. Marilyn Manson's version of the Eurythmics' Sweet Dreams is chilling and, although I've heard it lots, still keeps its sinister feel. Nine Inch Nails' cover of Joy Division's Dead Souls is only slightly better, mainly because of the guitars and the cool drum intro. Failure covered Depeche Mode's Enjoy The Silence beautifully. Faith No More covered Black Sabbath's War Pigs quite well. Deftones covered Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man beautifully. That song is amazing. And if you're talking worst covers ... Avril Lavigne's cover of Chop Suey makes me nautious. AFI's cover of Nine Inch Nails' Head Like A Hole is purely awful, and most of all, Fall Out Boy's cover of Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart is an atrocity and a tragedy.

Next gig your going to see?
I was considering BDO, but with a lump of animal faeces headlining and only about three other bands I'm interested in, I think I'll pass. I'll see KoRn if they come here - they're coming to Australia, and most probably Perth, in January and/or February, according to an interview. But I've been (shamefully) liking them a lot lately so I won't pass up the oppurtunity.
