  1. I'm crying right now. I'm just posting so you can't reach 200. :(

Of course it'd be nice if every day was peaceful, the bad thing is they aren't. These guys are at least promoting one day of peace, because it's about making conscience of conflict - and that'd already be a big change. If you feel capable of keeping such a joyous spirit the whole year, that'd be even better, so please be my guest and do that. However, you can't ask for the UNO to conduct these public events worldwide the whole year around. It's not about only being charitable at Christmas, it's about being charitable at all, even if you're only joining the Holidays bandwagon. That post by Shadow also reminded me of an old song. [hide=]If you want to arrange it This world you can change it If we could somehow make this Christmas thing last By helping a neighbor Or even a stranger To know who needs help You need only just ask[/hide]
  3. It seems it's just a phase, as someone else already said. I remember such jokes in my class like 3-4 years ago, but right now most of our class has grown out of that attitude. I'm not saying we're all mature, but non of us would tell those jokes now. -For Spanish speakers there's a lot of difference between a hard r, a soft r and a d. Problems arise for English speakers since they usually can't handle the r's.
  4. He's a mod. He can do whatever he wants. And it feels goooood.
  5. I already knew that. You underestimate me.
  6. How could you possibly have foreseen your fate? I'm impressed.
  7. Well, I'd just recommend you to stop for a while, gather some ink and wait around a week. Hopefully the vandals will be bored by then and you should be able to reconstruct it quickly with all that ink and new recruits.
  8. Hear him. Let's keep this thread completely gore-free in the future, ok? Thanks.
  9. No offence taken. It's just a little tag in case some RS friend of mine sees me, or in case someone simply wonders about it. You'd say moderators of a RS fansite would play the game, wouldn't you? ;) But nope. Not all of them do. However, they all like to see you wasting your time, your years. We see your tears, we feel the cost. We rejoice over your shattered hopes and dreams. Everything that is now lost.
  10. Siobhana just made a new post and stickied it, so please go ahead and use that one instead. : Locked.
  11. I wonder if these kids will ever be able to post 150 times without that annoying smiley. Not that it'd help them.
  12. If you stay with hypotheticals, those political systems would be indeed perfect if there were perfect conditions and perfect humans. After all, both Anarchy and Fascism (and Communism, etc.) follow some utopian ideals of perfect societies -where the definition of perfect society varies-, and would theoretically be "perfect" forms of government. Both of them easily get corrupted as Lenticular explained, though, so they don't work in practice.
  13. We already have a topic on the Large Hadron Collider, feel free to post your opinions there instead. Locked.
  14. Zero. I don't need jokes to reset your score.

Just a question for you guys. Can I expect a decent gameplay with a 512kbps connection, or will it be too laggy to handle?
  16. I'm with you there. It is annoying. And I'll be annoying too if you don't stop it.
  17. Oh, you think you're really smart because there's no Roman numeral for 0, right? HA. 0

I don't think the ant would orbit you. Surely according to that logic if you headed out into deep space (where external gravity is negligible) all manner of small objects would start orbiting you? The force between you and the ant isn't suddenly overpowered by the Earth, it's just far too weak for the ant to ever orbit you. Why wouldn't they orbit you? As long as there's that gravity there's a force between the object that can work as a centripetal force, so there can be an orbit; the same laws still apply.

If the universe only consisted of a person and an ant, the ant could orbit around you easily. However, here, the force the Earth exerts the ant is enormously bigger than the force between you and the ant (it's more than one thousand million times so strong if the ant is 1m away from you). That's why the ant is pulled by the Earth and not you.
  20. If there's such a problem with those threads being in General or a forgotten Sub-forum, why not move them to the Main Marketplace forum? There's currently next to no activity there aside from the price-check thread.

Escape velocity is the one an object needs to "escape/break free" from the gravitational pull of a mass. For example, on the surface of the Earth, a rocket needs to achieve a velocity of 11 km/s to escape from the Earth. In a black hole, that velocity is over 300 000 km/s. Because nothing can be faster than light, you could assume nothing ever escapes a black hole.
  22. And what about Johny? He didn't earn it, but he has it. If you follow that logic, all kids should be like Schumacher's, and shouldn't share the parent's wealth at all.
