  1. With that attitude, I fail to see why anyone should waste time helping you. Locked.

    Swimming?

I'm supposed to swim 800 meters tomorrow. I cannot swim. This'll be fun :)
  3. What you are talking about are accessories, the actual computer is the box, what you might call the harddrive. The computer consists of a few different parts: The motherboard The bloodsystem of the computer, this is where you plug everything else in. The processor The brain of the computer, this component does the calculations etc. The memory The component were the processor stores temporary information while it's in use. The harddrive A magnetic storage drive, it's where you store your files and programs. The graphics card It is possible for the processor to do all calculations regarding graphics, but it's not very effective. To improve performance, computers have a special grahpics processor. The soundcard This is the component that allows you to transfer sound from the box to the speakers. The networkcard This card makes it possible to connect the computer to a network, or to the internet via broadband. Beyond that there are also optional things like optical drives (CD/DVD), floppies, controller cards, firewire, USB etc. But you know, to be honest, I don't think building a computer is the way to go if you don't know these things. You're better off buying one pre-built, from Dell for example.
  4. I would recomend getting something along the lines of: An AMD64 Processor of some kind, 3500+ perhaps? 1024 MB DDR RAM A Geforce 6800GT 256mb graphics card A S-ATA harddrive It's a bit harder to be more precise when you haven't specified what store to go by :P

    Buying a PSP

Topic pruned. This is not a discussion about which console is superior.
  6. There are two ways: Creating a CD image. An image is basically a copy of the disc, but it's just a file on the computer instead of an actual CD. You then use a program, such as a Daemon Tools, to run it. This will not work with all copyprotections, but it will with some. The second way is to crack it, and obviously no links where you can get hold of cracks will be allowed here. Traditionally, sites that offer game cracks contain porn advertising and spyware.
  7. It's no secret that Firefox has bugs now and then. The thing is though, that the amount of critical bugs (IE: Ones that allow someone to run arbitrary code on your machine through an exploit) is extremely small compared to IE.
  8. BBCode was disabled to ensure no images of any kind were posted due to the situation described on Runescape.com. It has now been re-enabled.
  9. I've never had tooth ache, braces or anything. l33t teeth for life.
  10. http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/ ... ry&catid=5 It creates a virtual drive where you can select a CD-image and use it as an ordinary drive. This will not work on all games however, since some have copy-protection that can't be circumvented that way. You will also need another program to create the actual images, and I recomend CloneCD or Alcohol 120%.
  11. It depends on what you want to do with it. Simply want to remove everything? Grab any Bootdisk and type in Format C: when the computer has started. Want to remove everything and install Windows XP? Simply insert the Windows XP CD and reboot. When prompted, press the key that opens the installer. In the installer, choose to delete the current partition and create a new one. Watch Mr Gates do the work for you. The first isn't recomended, since odds are you *do* want an OS on it, even if it isn't Windows XP. So yeah, a little more detail wouldn't hurt. Make sure you have the following drivers available: Sound Graphics Card Network Card These are critical, and even though Sound/GFX drivers can usually be downloaded online, network drivers are a bit more annoying if you can't access the net.
  12. Getting the best card is a no-brainer, since it's usually the most expensive one. I would however stay away from the 850XT PE and 6800Ultra, because they aren't worth extra cost. Instead, go for one of the following: Radeon x800XL Geforce 6800GT The first is ~$300 or so and the second is ~$400 something. Both are great cards and worth the cost. These aren't the fastest cards, but they are among the top-range cards.
  13. Yes, considering you can run it on browsers that do not support ActiveX at all. Is it possible on IE? I wouldn't know, I've never had a reason to try it. Getting another browser (Preferably one that can be used off of a portable media and doesn't require installation, such as Firefox Portable) would be the easiest way to do so. I don't see why RS should require activeX at all though, since it's a Java applet.

    New pope.

hehe, that was a funny way of putting it, care to elaborate? taht he wont use hatred? that he will work against hatred in the world? cause it sounds like he'll use hatred to make people bow to his will :) I thought it was obvious enough that I mean that in a "And-he'll-work-against-it" way :P

    New pope.

This guy knows better than most people what effect hatred can have on people. I think he'll do great.

    Doom 3

I've played through the game and its expansion, and I'm not too impressed. Sure, the graphics are nice, but the game is just plain boring. Killing things with the Chainsaw is fun, but the games futile attempts to scare the player are kinda lame. Definitely worth playing through at least once though :)
  17. I want an online quality music store. Here there is basically one online store at the moment, and it has a fairly broad selection of songs. In 192kbps DRM-protected WMA. Who on earth wants that junk? If I pay for it I have the right to expect at *least* the same quality is the illegal versions. Does it harm companies that much to release the downloads as FLAC or 320kbps MP3's instead of files you can't even play on an MP3-player? I do not wish to buy an entire CD for every single song I want to listen to, and I do not want low-quality junk. Is the ability to buy songs for decent prices without getting all the lame fillers to much to ask for?
  18. http://www.freewebmasterhelp.com/tutorials/phpmysql/1 I suggest this guide. It explains inserting and displaying information from a database in detail, and it easy to understand.
  19. As opposed to for example pop, which doesn't consist almost purely of love/depression songs?... [...] So a few rap songs have beats which aren't new? Yeah, obviously that means the genre is trash. I haven't read this much idiocy (directed at the topic as a whole) since last time I read a Bush statement. If you guys can't stand this type of music, don't listen it. More power to you. Just don't expect anyone to take you seriously when you make up bogus reasons to justify complaining about the fact that it exists, and that people enjoy it. Creating the actual beat/music isn't always done by the artist. Point being? This is not a phenomena limited to rap. And that's all I've got to say about this. Except for the usual "Anyone who honestly believes the claim that anybody could be a rapper is an idiot". But I've already said that countless time, and it's not helping.
  20. I don't remember much about the specs, but I know it was a ~30mhz later overclocked to 50mhz running DOS/Win3.11, but I gave that box away a few years ago. After that I got a 233mhz one with Win95, and I've still got that one somewhere in the basement :D It doesn't work well now though, it's really unstable.
  21. I do think you should PCI-E, but beyond that it looks great. About the memory though, are you sure it'll fit the mobo? I don't have any experience from using DDR2, but isn't it an Intel-only type of memory?
  22. Thanks for the help, both scripts work great! :)
  23. While making some basic PHP-code for a site, I've created this small script: //This script has been modified, variables have been changed/removed for security reason. <? mysql_connect($host,$username,$password); @mysql_select_db($database) or die( "Unable to select database"); $query="SELECT * FROM info"; $result=mysql_query($query); mysql_close(); $article = $_GET["article"]; $content=mysql_result($result,$article,"content"); echo "$content"; ?> What it does is use the URL (like if you enter hi.php?article=5 it will find article number 5) to get the right document from the database. However, I'm a bit concerned about security. My knowledge of PHP is a bit lacking, basically I can create a script like this and mod phpbb, but that's about it. Are there any obvious security flaws in this way of using a database? Beyond that, I'd like to tweak it a bit. At the moment, the table it uses looks like this: ID | CONTENT 0 | Blabla 1 | Blabla 2 | Blabla Et cetera. When I use the above script to get an article, the script does not get the article that has the relevant ID number, it gets the article with that position in the table. Now, they are both the same so it doesn't matter, but it's a bit inconvenient for those times when I need to make changes to it. Is there a simple way to make it go by the ID column instead of location in the table? Cheers.
  24. Our convert him to the VLC religion. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html Chances are it will play any media file no matter which strange codec it contains.
  25. The anwer to your question is Yes, you can in many cases find the IP in the header information. However, posts about tracing will be locked and you will have to figure out how to do this on your own.
