  1. If you think the responses are crap, leave. This is also a forum, not a 24/7 live tech support line.
  2. Idling for 24 hours or more is defiantly an exceptable reason for a kick, but 12 hours borders the line most people can easy hit because of school, homework and work. 8 hours of sleep, 7 hours of school, and you just blew through the 12 hour rule. If it's going to be enforced, enforce it for everyone. I know I complain about the rule a lot, but if it's going to be enforced, even regulars should be kicked. Then we'll watch how fast they all start yelling and complaining about it. Most IRC addicts don't like having to open and close their server windows constantly because of some idle rule. They leave them open to log any highlights that may occur while they're away. I've had mIRC open for a week and 4 days as of this post all because it's much easier than constantly opening and closing it every time I sit down to the computer.
  3. If it was blocking connections he wouldn't be on RS at all. Blocked connections don't cause lag... :?
  4. Hold F8 before the windows loading screen appears. Instead of the loading screen you'll get a list of Safe Mode choices to choose. Any will work for deleting a file.
  5. It was pushed out as a High Priority update, so unless you've changed the automatic update settings, you're gonna get force fed IE. Most sheeple won't care that it changed though, just that it still works. The general population doesn't know enough about computers to care. :?
  6. Most people use an entirely separate IRC client that doesn't use Java. mIRC is a stand alone exe. The java clients are just used for people that are new to IRC and don't understand much of it. :P
  7. Have you tried servers in different locations? It may just be some bad routing between you and the server you're playing on. There's many other obvious reasons if you're virus/spyware free. :?
  8. Just throwing all that together in about 10 minutes while trying to match the parts on Newegg totaled $2,746.21 (after $44 shipping) (3,565.58 AUD according to google) without all the Everglide stuff. The "Tai Chi" case alone was like $360 (Who the hell pays $360 for a case?) and a major waste if you ask me. The LCD has a 2ms response time (could be much higher and still very good) and could shave another $100 of the total. Could probably get by with another $50-$100 off the the motherboard I grabbed too but I was just pricing up what they listed. :P
  9. So is c++ and most other programming languages. Just because you can't teach yourself doesn't mean someone else can't. It doesn't take a college level class to learn something when you know where and how to look for the learning tools.
  10. Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Sounds Tab Scroll down to "Start Windows" and you can change the .wav it plays. It may use mp3's, it may not.
  11. Being off by 3000 gb is more than just "roughly". Please, know what you're talking about before you arguing something...
  12. If you're going to correct someone, at least get it right yourself. 4 terabytes is roughly 4000 gigabytes, noob. Server boards that support 64gb are fairly easy to find. 10gb for just a gaming rig is a waste though. :P
  13. I'm sorry, but Norton is a bloated pile of junk. I've seen it bring too many systems to their knees because of it's resource hogging tendencies. My dad's laptop and P4 system's are prime examples. Any system I do any cleaning on gets Norton and Mcafee removed and replaced because of the problems they both have caused. I've never had anyone come back to me complaining about their system now being "too fast" because the bloatware isn't eating resources anymore... Whether or not this problem is a virus or not, we don't know. No HJT log has been posted and we've had no reply from the original poster. If he doesn't know how to clean his own system, it's fairly obvious that he isn't going to be able to classify it as a virus or spyware for us. It may not be Norton's place to stop the install, but it is it's place to be resource friendly and actually do it's job (which I rarely see it actually do correctly :uhh: ).
  14. After that, I doubt you know what WGA is. Not many other programs (If any) that validate your Windows Key with Microsoft's systems and then cripple your system if it decides it pirated.
  15. WGA has screwed over more legitimate copies of Windows than anything else. It's rather worthless when the crackers had work arounds running days after it was first released and it marks brand new retail keys invalid. And Mcafee is just as bad as Norton. They've released more than a few updates that decide to wipe legitimate files that aren't infected because they didn't bother testing their update correctly.
  16. Nice Norton icon in the text bar. Too bad it didn't protect you (like some people seem to assume). Reboot your computer and hold F8 before the windows loading screen appears. You should get a list of options you can arrow through. One of these options should be "Safe Mode with networking". Select it. Log into the admin account you will be presented with and run your virus scan from there. You should also run a second scan that isn't Norton, such as Trend Micro's online scan. Running Adaware and Spybot search and destroy from safe mode is also a good idea.
  17. Apache is an industry standard web server. Not a language. And no you can't run PHP without a webserver unless you're running something that's console based and isn't doing any kind of html output (unless you like imagining what pages look like).
  18. Make sure javascript is enabled on the browser that doesn't work. The forums use javascript to insert the smilies in the post, so they won't be inserted when you click if it's turned off.
  19. PNGs are much better because they support more than 256 colors. Nobody really knows this thought because of IE's really crappy transparency support.
  20. The admins have some funky process on the server that services images seperatly. It likes to die at random times, leaving the forums like they are now without images. Why they don't just have apache serving the images, I have no idea, and it makes little sense. They could at least use a cronjob to make sure the image process is running too. The forums aren't hacked, it's just the server crapping out again.
  21. 1) IE only supports transparency in 8-bit PNG images. It's a huge annoyance but is suppose to be fully supported in IE 7. 2) If you're looking to use HTML/Flash/Databases for some kind of production work (Business or related), taking classes would be a good idea. Picking up a book or 2 on each would also be a lot more helpful than digging through tutorials online. It's cheaper than classes and better than the short stuff you'll find. You could always just save your money and keep up the tutorials you find if it's just a hobby though. :D
  22. This is publicly available code made by someone else. It's made it to the front page of Digg.com more than a few times too.
  23. You can change the slide size in File > Page Setup. It won't matter much tho because it's still going to get scaled down to fit on the page or screen you're presenting it on.
  24. Making it a different directory during install wouldn't matter, it's still going to play with all your user settings when it's first installed. You can still find the 1.5.0.7 installer on the FTP if you absolutely have to get back off 2.0 till things settle in.
  25. Php.net will knock the socks off whatever w3schools has posted for php help. Nothing beats the language documentation. :P Here be the "or" page since it was brough up.
