  1. Official Apple quicktime download or Quicktime Alternative Quicktime alternative plays everything Apples official quicktime does but in a smaller package and without the annoyances the official version comes with.
  2. Simple solution to it all: Force the subforum mod into use. Stop giving users whining room on everything. The users wanted their own parties, so they got their own forum, the down side, it left the "general" section and lost traffic. Now that it's being forced to the party board, few see them and fewer attend (this is just what I gather from reading around a bit). Stop piddling around with the subforum mod with just the staff boards and put it in public view to shorten the index and keep large RS community events in the high traffic boards. They'll get the best of both a dedicated board and higher view counts to drive attendance. The links stay in the same section (Clan archives being the example), they just get slightly smaller and aren't given a whole of space to waste. Many people kicked and screamed about subforum'ing, and now some sections are losing out because of it.
  3. You have to "extract" the archive to a folder on your system for the video to be usable. When you open WinRAR there should be an "Extract to" button at the top. Click it, select the folder you want the files stored in and hit ok.
  4. Changing screen resolution is a system wide setting, regardless of user account. Changing it on one account changes it on all of them. That is why Cameron said you'd need a 3rd party app to automatically change the resolution at login.
  5. Right click your desktop > Properties > Settings Tab Turn down the screen resolution and hit apply. This will also make your usable screen space smaller and will make your icons and task bar appear larger, so use it sparingly. :P
  6. Many residential ISPs use dynamic IPs so they change each time you connect and disconnect from the network. This way they don't have to worry about assigning an IP to each customer on a regular basis and the network systems automatically reassign addresses that aren't already in use. The down side is it makes it easy for the user to get around IP bans relatively easily by turning their modem off and back on.
  7. Jagex created, maintains and owns RuneScape. It is their property, they own the copyright, they write the terms of use. Regardless of what you think or say, it's their game and they can dictate whatever rules they want to the people that want to play it. If you don't like the rules they lay out for use of their game, you get to go without, plain and simple.
  8. Insight? The world links have 0 to do with the actual applet. All they do is point you to the correct page on the server in question, which then sends the applet. If you do a bit of digging you'll find out the 'ul8' and so on in the URLs designates the datacenter it's hosted at. jo4 for example, uses Jolt in the UK. ul8, is UnitedLayer on the west coast of the US. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out.
  9. That is why there is a bad ads sticky in Website Discusion.
  10. It's more then likely random scans for vulnerable computers and other internet "noise". You'll get stuff like this on any computer directly connect to the net. It's just a fact of life now with all the virii and malware in the wild. As long as you're confident your computer is secure, you have nothing to worry about (just like rick said :P ).
  11. How would 2 toolbars equal death? Some toolbars can be useful. Some can, both the toolbars he has are usefull, and both from very reliable services. Bashing toolbars just because they're there doesn't fix the problem...
  12. I suggest you take a couple hours to read and comprehend the post before you go replying. The linked article is about much, much more than skinning windows. If everything in the linked article does pan out, we're in for some interesting times when Vista becomes more prominent in the wild.
  13. And 4 minutes later, weez posts a sticky for hypercam. Atleast now we have something to smack people with when they post these questions. :wall: Should add these to a recorder list in the sticky along with any other info people can think up.
  14. Because you posted something that has been asked multiple times over the past week (and several times still on page 1). It gets annoying answering the same freaking question day in and day out when the answer is readily available.
  15. 1) Easily found in the Announcement and Rules forum in the postcount sticky... 2) No real reason why not, except for the doubled work load. (This is how I see it, actual staff response me vary :anxious: ) 3) Follow the rules, post useful comments, and don't ask to be a mod. :P
  16. If the screen has gone black and doing hard restarts (dropping power, pulling the battery) doesn't bring it back (no POST messages on the screen during boot), you most likely have a dead LCD. You're probably better off taking it in to a local computer shop because of the nature of the problem. :?
  17. If you're asking how to post it on the forums as a viewable object (like an image), You can't.
  18. Use the blasted search button. A search for "hypercam" right here in the T&C forum returns 50+ results... :wall:
  19. Even if said pins supposedly aren't needed for the socket you're running, it's better to fill the hole and supply the power than not to. If the power isn't needed, it won't get used. :-X
  20. Probably the best thing to do since it seems to be a wider problem than just you. :-s
  21. No trace route problems from eastern Nebraska to the West 1 worlds for me. They all cut off at the firewall like they should. :? No real ideas beyond routing problems if the other worlds work fine. :-k
  22. I have little experience using mySQL, but have you been deleting other records as you add? The auto increment won't reuse IDs are far as I know. It never did when I was playing around with it anyway. :? Another side note, the mySQL query browser is so much nicer than the command line. :-$
  23. 50 is a bit of an exaggeration when you've only posted 17 as of my reply. It would help if you'd read the Announcments and Rules forum and notice the Post Count sticky before kicking and screaming about a number. :?
  24. As far as I know it has to do with the mouse tracking the surface you're using. Try changing the surfaces you're using for a mouse pad (standard pad, white peice of paper, ect) and see how that effects it. My logitech optical doesn't have this problem on a solid blue, synthetic "Fellowes" mouse page, my laptop optical doesn't do this on wood grain, but the optical on my mom's tower does (the same wood grain finish). Just have to find the right surface for the mouse I guess. :?
  25. Try holding the front power button for ~10 seconds. If the computer doesn't turn on, look on the back for a toggle switch on the power supply. Flip it off and wait 10 to 20 seconds. Switch it back to the original position and try to turn the computer back on. Some power supplies and motherboards have to have power completely shut off again after a sudden power failure to reset them, basically telling them it's "safe" to turn back on and that it isn't just a flicker of power. My older AMD tower does this. :P If the above doesn't work, you may have damaged some hardware and would have to go digging deeper into the parts. :?
