  1. Right off the bat, the CPU you link will not fit the motherboard. Your CPU link is socket 939, while the motherboard is an AM2 socket. Not compatible. Everything else should work together though after you change to an socket AM2 CPU. Edit: Here's the same CPU with an AM2 socket: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... =CP-170-AM
  2. Defining what a "one line post" is, is another problem. One of rick's replys it one line at my current resolution, but squished down to 1024 or 800 would turn into 2 or even 3 "lines". The removal of post count has already been hotly debated and it was kept because of whining by many (I can't find the thread :? ). The poll was also voted on by a small sample of the community, but that's what happens I guess. People would survive without it but the people screaming to keep it out numbered the people logically thinking about it. As Mili said, teaching the community to stop posting "one line", would be near impossible because most of them just don't care. There's also the more technically inclined among us that would argue what is considered one line between multiple resolutions and text sizes, making it rather useless.
  3. Have installed anything new in the 2 days since lasting using it? Changed any system settings?
  4. It may also be a problem with the file itself. Have you tryed playing other files of the same format through VLC and WMP?
  5. You will need to manually register a channel on whatever network you are going to use and then point PJIRC at that channel and network. You can have it automatically join with a couple settings (I don't remember which, I know they are in the FAQ though). You can usually find out how to register a channel by using '/msg chanserv help register' on the network of choice and read what is returned.
  6. The HJT log looks clean to me. Looks like the empty MSconfig options may be the Java entry in the log tagged as '(no name)'.
  7. Norton is know by many to be a resource hog and to cause problems (also claimed to run perfectly by others). My personal experience with it is as the first, a worthless resource hog on multiple machines. If scanning has found no infections, trying to uninstall it and seeing what happens would be the best bet. If your usage problems stop as soon as it's uninstalled, you have your problem. AVG, Avast, Panda, Kaspersky and Nod32 make up some of the alternative free (and payed) AV programs out there. All have their own following but any of them would be a good choice.
  8. I had a nice reply typed up for that, but you just aren't worth the effort anymore. Call it a cop out if you want, I just don't care about the worthless points you've made anymore. Anyone with any logic can probably figure out why. There's that stupid roll eyes smiley again, like you're somehow right. It is an IRC bot. It can't be integrated into a client in it's current state. Rewriting it to do so would be a massive waste of time and a huge resource hog because of the code involved. There are much, much better ways to add a skill calc to your precious clients. It isn't a third party client (and I wish I could smack you for suggesting it be added to one), but you decided to drag it into the mess anyway. Dragging a project I helped create into this argument was worthless on your part. It has nothing to do with the topic at hand, you obviously have no clue why, but are trying to make a point out of it anyway. Trying to pass it off as something Tip.It can add to a client adds nothing to your point (especially when many of the staff already know it capabilities and it's developers) and just goes to show you don't really know wth you're doing at this point. This thread is so full of crap now I'm just going to drop it and walk away (like I was going to before someone decided to drag my project into it for no reason). Arguing the SS point, as always, has resulted in a thread full of worthless arguments (from both sides, including me). Any more replys aimed at me will go unanswered, regardless of content. The thread needs to either be locked, or let fall into the depths by all of us.
  9. I know I said I'm done posting here but I just find it too funny that you'd drag the Rscript.org project into the thread. If you would bother reading the website, you would see it is not a third party client, but an IRC bot that pulls data from the high scores page and displays it to the IRC user or room, much like the html calculators Tip.It and other sites have. It's also already in use in the Tip.It IRC room. RuneScript has nothing to do with third party clients and does not integrate itself with the game in any way, shape or form. You're so busy trying to convince the staff to support third party clients and software that you're bring up things that don't even have anything to do with the discussion...
  10. Now that I look at my own msconfig, I now see the reg entries are useless because they all point to run. :( Bleh, that's what I get for rushing a reply, sorry. The hijackthis zip is only 208kb from all the major download sites so it shouldn't take too long, even on 28.8. It's all I can really think of at the moment to try to ID those 2 blank entries. Nothing else really pops out off the list at me as bad.
  11. Giving info on something with no name is just slightly hard to do. Kinda like reading minds. Would think you'd know that after posting around here. :? Expanding the window so the registry keys are visible would be alot more helpfull for trying to identify the unnamed entries. Posting a HJT log for colt and the others to look over would also be better than just looking at MSconfig.
  12. I'm done arguing the whole SS point. You obviously can't get it threw your head that is has not been allowed here for 6 years and that many in the community (including the staff) are very much against the issue. Constantly arguing it won't change the matter. cruiser's discussion on the matter> I do want to reply to your link in this reply about sites that list hashes for searches. You can search those websites all you like, and I can guarantee without a doubt you won't find the hash I posted on one of them. If by some chance you do, it won't be the correct string I encrypted simply due to the length and simple fact that storing enough keys to get to the string I used isn't practical, even for someone with multiple racks worth of storage. Just because websites exist to match hashes of dictionary words and simple 5 letter combos doesn't mean you will find a hash for every conceivable string I could have encrypted. On a final note, arguing with Merc is a bad idea. :P I'm done replying to the thread.
  13. Yay google! (This is a link to a key extractor, not google :P)
  14. Otherwise known as a password manager. It stores your password on your local machine for each login. Much, MUCH, different than what is actually stored in the phpbb database. Decrypt this, I dare ya: bd89360bc55394cd9024cb866b58157d Hint: It's the same encryption phpBB uses for passwords SS is not the only "legal" client out there anymore. Especially since the rules were modified for allowing the game pane to be included just about anywhere. Linking to SS means supporting it, which Tip.It has never done (and I'm assuming will never do.) Linking to SS also means they acknowledge the use of 3rd party clients, which they have never supported. It also means they would have to link to any other client that complains and moans. You're fighting a lost cause and arguing your point to a brick wall. It hasn't been done in 6 years and the arguments everyone presents isn't going to change that stance.
  15. Lavasoft's Adaware would be another good tool to run along side Spybot. Both are very good at finding and removing spyware and other infections.
  16. No, it's not. It says nothing about only installing it once. You may transfer it as many times as you like, as long as you only have one installed copy at a time. It says nothing about the user being limited to only one unique install per key. After multiple moves, you may have to call the key in to Microsoft's support line, but even that is as simple as telling the tech why you were reinstalling and they give you an activation code. No fuss. If they truly cared, your key would be blacklisted from a second install the second it was first activated.
  17. Like your reply here, that isn't true.
  18. Simply untrue. I've used the same key on multiple hardware sets several times and never had issues. That includes their OSes and Office. I have yet to even have to call it in to reactivate any of them. My office 2003 key has been used upwards of atleast 9 times now between all the machines in the house. And before anyone asks, yes they were all legally acquired keys.
  19. SS and other fan sites have never been linked to from Tip.It. SS has been banned from discussion since it's inception. That is where the "unbanned" comes from. This is why I replied the way I did. They have never linked to it, period. As Tallest said in his last reply, I don't just mindless backup the admins. I've had some rather heated arguments with a few of them over the years. If you have to resort to calling us suck ups, your argument is dead. If you knew what you were talking about, you would know phpbb encrypts all the passwords upon registration. Cracking just one of them from scratch would take considerable CPU time and isn't practical for even a determined hacker (a real hacker, not the BS script kiddies that keylog people). Tip.It also has a rather large amount of time and money invested in the running of the website and forums along side the fact several of the admins are very close to Jagex themselves. True, we can, still doesn't change the fact Lightning had already posted a reply well ahead of your list with the current state of the issue. That would involve supporting it here on Tip.It, which will never happen, regardless of the discussion decision. For all the rest of us care, you advocating SS is a waste of time.
  20. Tip.it has never linked to any other fan sites or 3rd party clients in the 6 years it's been up and running. Ever. Users in the forums may have, but the website itself hasn't. Regardless of how trustworthy you think Strider may be, there is always the possibility something can be compromised. You could argue Jagex could be compromised too, but Jagex is getting payed to keep things secure. They abide by certain security related laws due to the handling of credit cards and personal info. Third party clients have no such obligation and can screw you over on a whim. Overall, 3rd party clients are for the lazy people among us. There is no need for anything more than a standard web browser for anything rs related.
  21. Spybot (Not Spyware) Searth and Destroy is one of the basics in any spyware/virus cleanup spree someone can go on. Pairing it with Adaware and a good antivirus, you clean up quite a bit of the junk out there. They'll at least make a spyware infested machine usable, even if they don't get it all.
  22. You guys are getting shafted by MS. XP Pro is still only about $230 for the retail box here in the states. About $140 for an OEM copy. Gotta love companies that don't use exchange rates.
  23. Rule #1 when dealing with AOL: Don't listen to anything AOL says. Ever.
  24. Someone already asked it, but I'll asked it again: What kind of connection are you using? Telling us a "modem" doesn't help. Multiple connection types have a modem... Dialup? DSL? Cable? Satelite?
  25. It has no practical use for home users. It's much more usefull for people that manage large networks of identical windows machines. Throw the disc in, walk away to do something else, and the machine pretty much reinstalls itself.
