AIM 6.0
Once again, understand what you're talking about before you go spouting crap. All 3 clients I linked support AIM (along with MSN, Yahoo, and others), without the ads, headaches, and other crap included in the official client.

problem with playing rs ( and other games )
That should definately be cleaned out. Taking the side panel off the case is fine, just don't remove the heatsink (the metal grid with the fan on it). A can of compressed air (a couple $ at Walmart or any computer store) will help blow the dust out of the fan. You could also just try blowing it out with old fashioned lung power but you may not get it all. Some tweezers can be useful for bigger chunks too.

More Effective Taskbar Location [Tip]
TweakUI from the XP powertoys page adds to that grouping, letting you set the limits for when it goes into effect. It has options for changing various other things not related to the task bar too.

More Effective Taskbar Location [Tip]
Or, you could just edit one image or word doc at a time, minimize iTunes to tray and organize your files so you don't have to use search. :P I guess I'm too use to my setup. :?

problem with playing rs ( and other games )
Do not take the metal grid off! Taking the 'metal grid' off the processor means you then have to remove the old thermal compound, clean it completely, and reapply new thermal compound. Removing it and replacing it like he suggests will almost certainly turn it into an overheating problem because you broke the thermal connection between the CPU and heat sink. This is exactly why some people need to stop suggesting fixes. All it takes is one idiot to fry an entire machine.

Playing Guild Wars problems, screen going black?
Pfft, no. You're asking for help and going about it nicely. That's what I've been looking for. The only Radeon 9100 I can find is an IGP card (note the I), not AGP, under the Windows ME/98 section of ATI's website. :? Do you run Windows 98 or ME and are you sure it is an AGP card? If no, what OS? It looks like you copied what was in DXdiag, but not being able to find an AGP card makes me think you may have typo'ed it. :-k

Unbearable Lag
Posting computer and connection specs and other useful information like the sticky says would be helpful. We can't just magically read minds and know what to fix.

Playing Guild Wars problems, screen going black?
If rendering has to wait for a response before doing any work, the game developer needs to be smacked. You would also be left with a game that feels very jumpy because of the varying times it takes for packets to travel the net. The only aspect of any online game that should wait to render are characters, their positioning and other dynamic content. Landscape and other static elements should be rendered regardless of what else is being sent and received. All of this aside, it has absolutely 0 to do with a complete black screen a few minutes into a game. 1) This is the Tech & Computers board, like off topic, you better know wth you're talking about before you go spewing random fixes to issues. Like Parabola said, trying to fix issues you know 0 about only creates more problems and makes you look like an idiot. Wildly throwing out changes fixes nothing. 2) A 10 year old monitor could very well be the problem. Yes, it's a long shot, but ruling it out 'because it still works' is not a good idea when troubleshooting hardware issues. As an example, my 10 year old 19" CRT still worked flawlessly and one day fried itself for no reason what so ever. I was staring at it, working with some stuff and pop (damn censor replaced p-o-o-f :x ), it shuts off with a plume of smoke. 3) Please, please reread your posts and punctuate things before clicking submit next time. --------------------------- Back to the orginal poster: Is this a laptop or integrated card of some kind? I can't find the drivers for a Radeon 9100 AGP to save my life at the moment. Just wanted to find out if you had the latest drives installed. Has this happened with any other graphically intensive games? Any other major software changes just prior to installing GW? All windows updates installed? (Long shot, best to cover all bases :P )

WINDOWS VISTA
This probably stems from the whole Office 2007 change. Office has problems opening files between 2007 and earlier versions without a patch for conversions. Beyond that, I've heard of 0 problems moving files between them. I had no issues with the betas. :?

My sig is not updating
If they don't comply with the rule, they will most likely find themselves blocked completely. It's owner followed and replyed to the first sticky about it on the RSO boards rather closely, and has posted an announcement to their news that the sigs will require manual updating (by button click) to follow the new rule.

want a server, need advice
If you are just now learning HTML, you are jumping in way too deep trying to buy a full server right off the bat. You will be much, much better of buying some cheap $5 shared hosting while you learn and buying a server only if and when you actually need the horsepower. Running a web server out of your house generally isn't a good idea either, regardless of whether the ISP allows it or not.

I'm a noob. Can you help me?
Dreamweaver isn't the best of programs to go about learning with. You're much, much better off learning to hand code your pages in something like Notepad++ or another syntax highlighting app that is free to download. Yes you can hand code pages in Dreamweaver but it isn't worth paying for just for that.

Video Upload Problems..
*messages the head of Merc* You can do it! Think harder!

WINDOWS VISTA
Sorry, that just made me laugh. Vista isn't 'too secure', it just annoys the hell out of people asking for the same password over and over. Most people will adopt the same click before reading mentality they have now or just shut UAC off entirely, making the whole system useless.

avitar problems.
Do you mean cropping the image? Removing parts of the image to make it smalled without actually scaling it down? If you post the image, the size you want it and the area you want to be kept someone here can most likely crop it and re-upload it for you if you ask nicely. :P

How can i turn off mac filtering?
I think you're taking the term 'Mac' a bit too literally. There are other meanings for 'Mac' beyond the Apple computer. Mac filters are used to allow or deny certain machines access to the network. Definition of mac addresses. Back on topic, MAC filters generally aren't on by default. You should be able to find the MAC filter settings fairly easily once you've logged into your router.

Favorite Firefox skin?
Default with a few tweaks to the toolbar layouts. It's nice and clean so there isn't really much reason to change it for me.

error loading runescape
It means RuneScape did not have access to the memory space it needed to load the game. Windows wasn't letting it load the needed files to play the game. Did you log into the same windows users after rebooting? Kinda weird that it would deny access once and then let it load another try. :? Nothing to really worry about if it's working fine now. It may have just been a random hiccup somewhere in the loading process.

Playing against a mac user when you have a pc
I've never personally played the PC version of Halo (only 1 & 2 on the Xbox) but there should be no difference when it comes to which machine it's running on. You should be able to set up a LAN or Network game through the settings or whatever other options it may have (again, never used it so I don't know the menus).

Photo Taking On rs

Please help me, Im a noob :)
The image is already under 6kb. It's the width and height that prevent the use of it.

two hard-drives
Not a lot to do with but store files and programs on it. It's only a hard drive after all. Depending on the size it would make for a good music storage space or whatever other files you might have laying around. As for the second question, yes you can remove the old OS from the drive and still have it function properly. Just make sure you're removing the old OS and not your current one. :P

More Avatar and Signature Freedom
My dialup argument is just an example of the uselessness of huge signatures. Yes you can turn them off. What if some people like seeing the signatures? I'm just pointing out different examples against the whole 'increase the size again' idea. Rick's removal of the stats sig is actually a decent point, since your RSN is a link to your stats under your avatar. The 800kb was also just a theoretical extreme with exact numbers. Of course all 15 posts won't be *exactly* at the size limit, but many people do try to cram as much as they can into the allotted space which can and does result in larger page sizes. I also wasn't pointing the 'pretty signature' comment at just DV, but everyone that's pushed for a larger sig size. I know the quote made it look like it was, but that wasn't the intent, sorry. People should be happy it isn't like the RSO boards and we actually have signatures and avatars in the first place. :?
