  1. 1) Caps in your topic does not make it more important to us. 2) A better description of what you want would be nice, instead of just going off your topic. 3) http://www.whatpulse.org - You're lucky I know what you're talking about.
  2. Font size has 0 to do with bandwidth usage. The font size is rendered client side and is the same amount of data either way. The difference between the font-size css being added and not being there is so minimal it isn't worth dealing with either. The size of the open and close span tags for each size change adds a whole 57 bytes to the page. So copy and paste to the URL bar if it's a short line or open up notepad and paste it there. Staff shouldn't have to do more work because you don't like enlarging text. :?
  3. I'm with Nadril, looks like a great setup. Wish I had the money to do a complete rebuilt right now.
  4. No you didn't. Telling us you have windows popping up tells us nothing about your problem. Yeah, you have windows open. What are they? What do they do? What do they say? If you had read the sticky Parabola linked to, you'd know we need more info. If your virus scanner is telling you that you are infected, you most likely are. The way you are going about responding to this also doesn't make it sound like you know enough to disregard what the scanner is telling you. This is most likely caused by the virus your scanner keeps telling you that you have but you keep disregarding. We aren't mind readers. Saying 'I get 2 popup windows with error messages' does not detail the problem.
  5. You do have a point. Removing the cover can hurt air flow and cooling, but it does have it place when case fans aren't pushing air threw the case properly and the case itself starts collecting heat. Removing the panel would let that hot air escape on it's own, cooling the machine. Yes it isn't as efficient as a properly designed case with good airflow, but it will help cases with poor airflow that collect hot air. I'm more against people posting advice that will actually break things. Removing the case panel doesn't result in anything harmful and can actually help in certain circumstances.
  6. Regardless of Wikipedia's flaws, it is a quick answer to most questions asked. Trolling around about 'how it sucks' doesn't change the fact it got the information across to someone.
  7. phpBB doesn't have a last page monster like the Jagex boards. Even topics that appear to be deleted usually have only been moved out of public view by the staff (as said by admins and others in the past). As for the search being broken, it's been known for a while. phpBB's search just sucks in general so there's no surprise it didn't bring up a topic that's months old. A lookup of Andrews forum account via the memberlist shows a post count of 6, 3 of which are still public.
  8. Wikipedia is your friend.
  9. They generally message you on set intervals (I wanna say around 1 hour) or when your queue position changes. Most are set up to ignore everything but a download command (that I've used anyway) so you just have to do a find in the channel window and hope it's still in the buffer.
  10. Agreed. As much as the staff will deny it (omg you're singling out users!!11!1), it's needed to stop stupid advice that could potentially destroy hardware (suggesting removing heat syncs to fix over heating problems come to mind...).
  11. Don't kick it. Kicking computers tend to break things. First, letting the fan break in may be a good idea but normally isn't needed. You can give it a try but don't be surprised if it doesn't quiet down. Second, no, you don't have to enable the other core. Low running temps are a good thing and probably has to do with your loud fan pushing a lot of air over the heat sync, keeping it nice and cool. After your 2 week wait (if you bother waiting), you could just pick up another (quieter) fan to install on the heat sync (just unscrew the old one without removing the entire heat sync).
  12. Google recently revised their algorithms to try to do away with Google bombing. Googlebombing your school is rather pointless too, even if you were successfull. :?
  13. Double click any part of the gray border and you'll have your tabs and menu's back. It's a little known feature that annoys a lot of people. Edit: Waiting more than 30 minutes for a reply would be nice. This isn't a live chat... :wall:
  14. Geek Squad is sadly over priced. Charging $129 to install software and $229 to install windows (which is a simple click and wait) is ridiculous. The horror stories surrounding their hardware service make me cringe too.
  15. Discussing how to circumvent filters and firewalls you don't control isn't allowed here. If you do have admin access to said router/filter/firewall, portforward.com will be useful.
  16. It could most likely be made dynamic in some way using javascript to adjust the width of the inputs, using window size or screen res as a baseline. It wouldn't add anything to the server either because javascript is clientside. And I just have to say, OMG HAI SITHY.
  17. I gained it from personal experience. So you've been modding tip.it eh? Mili is an ex TIF mod. He does have some sense of what he's talking about when it comes to these things even if it has been a while since he's officially modded the boards. Things around here havn't changed much over the years. The Rastorbator thread in T&C is a prime example of how to bring back a dead thread. 2 months old, brought back by new interest and input and you have a fresh conversation on the matter.
  18. Have you done any kind of hard drive diagnostics, looked at SMART values (speedfan can pull SMART data), and so on? I know you said you're getting a new rig soon but it's always worth troubleshooting to have a second machine to play with. :P
  19. Is it really that hard to actually read the official rules that state exactly what you're looking for? I must be off my rocker again, thinking it was that easy...
  20. Running Memtest for a while to test your RAM may be a good idea to rule that out as a possible problem.
  21. Removing Spyware Detector would probably be the best course of action. There is no need to have it running at all times (if you get infected, it running isn't going to help you at that point) and the fact its using 100% shows it has issues. Remove it, install Adaware and Spybot S&D and be done with it.
  22. Install a dictionary from the addons page. I think only the US dictionary was distributed for some reason, leaving the other locals searching. :?
  23. Yay uninformed rants! :wall:
  24. I had this same problem on one of my towers. Doing a complete reinstall of Java (from the sun website) should fix it.
  25. If I remember right, that is the error PJIRC throws when the port to the IRC server is blocked. If if isn't already open, you need to allow outgoing connections on port 6667 to connect to the IRC server.
